• Silverlight MergedDictionaries and subclassing of Application

  We have subclassed the Silverlight Application class to add some additional functionality and then use this in multiple projects. The problem is that the Resources defined in App.xaml do not seem to get loaded. Has anyone else seen this and/or have some insight? • How to add JSTL to Maven?

  I'm working on a JSF 2.0 project using Mojarra, PrimeFaces and Tomcat 6.x. I need to use c:forEach for some primefaces component like dynamic number of p:tab but i have problem with the c:forEach. All the other tag of JSTL work nice. I have the following error : java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: javax/servlet/jsp/jstl/core/LoopTagStatus I use the following xmlns:c="http://java.sun.com/jsp/jstl/core", i tried to replace with xmlns:c="http://java.sun.com/jstl/core" but nothing display with the second. • The width of a list that contains an embedded matrix grows unexpectedly

  I have a report in reporting services 2005 that includes a list with an embedded matrix and am attempting to put a border on the list, however, when I run the report in visual studio the matrix is growing past the end of the page and therefore the boarder is growing with it causing it to grow into the second page. It appears that there was supposedly a fix for this in reporting services 2000 service pack 1 but I am still experianceing the issue in 2005. The list has a details group that limits the records on a row to 4 using the following expression: =ceiling(rownumber("list1")/4), the matrix has a column group that should recycle those based on the rownumber determined by the list using the following expression: =rowNumber("list1_Details_Group") I have also attempted to put the list in a rectangle in hopes to stop the matrix from growing to no avail. How do I effectivly stop the matrix form growing past the space allowed by the list control?

  We are trying to write an application that uses the NServiceBus library in a VB.NET environment. We've been stymied by errors similar to the following: Reference required to assembly 'NServiceBus, Version=2.0.0.1071, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=9fc386479f8a226c' containing the implemented interface 'NServiceBus.IMessageHandler`1'. Add one to your project. Our project already includes references to NServiceBus.dll and NServiceBus.Core.dll from the same NServiceBus 2.0 RC2 distribution. Steps to reproduce: Create a new VB Class Library Project (.NET 3.5) Add NServiceBus.dll and NServiceBus.Core.dll as References. Put the following code in Class1.vb: Imports NServiceBus.Sagas.Impl Class Test Public Function Foo() As SagaMessageHandler Return Nothing End Function End Class You should now see the compiler error mentioned above. An identical project written in C# has no compile errors. Any ideas about how to solve this problem? (And, yes, my preferred solution is switching to C#, but no, that's not an acceptable one at the moment.)

  In our production environment, our WCF services are serialized with the XMLSerializer. To do so our service interfaces have the [XMLSerializerFormat] attribute. Now, we need to change to DataContractSerializer but we must stay compatible with our existing clients. Therefore, we have to expose each service with both serializers. We have one constraint: we don't want to redefine each contract interface twice, we have 50 services contract interfaces and we don't want to have IIncidentServiceXml IIncidentServiceDCS IEmployeeServiceXml IEmployeeServiceDCS IContractServiceXml IContractServiceDCS How can we do that? This is a description of what we have tried so far but I'm willing to try completely different approaches: We tried to create all the endpoints by code in our own ServiceHostFactory class. Basically we create each endpoint twice. The problem is that at runtime, WCF complains that the service has two endpoints with the same contact name but with different ContractDescription instances. The message says we should use different contract names or reuse the same ContractDescription instance.

• Which Java modules get Spring Security

  I have a classic Java SOA application, with a web UI module, web services module, a service module (Java API), a domain module and a persistence module. In a sense, each of these modules has their own public API. My understanding of Spring Security is that I can use web filters to handle the security of the web gui and web services, and method level security (via annotations) for the service module. My question is this: should I bother to add method level security to the domain module and the persistence module or is that considered overkill?

  Hi everyone, I have just updated my cakephp library to latest version 1.3.1. Before this I was running v1.3.0 with no errors. After running the application I am given this error message. unserialize() [function.unserialize]: Error at offset 0 of 2574 bytes [CORE\cake\libs\cache\file.php, line 176] I updated the libraries simply by replacing the existing cake files with the new ones downloaded from the net. Is it the correct way of updating applications. I did'nt made any customizations to the core library of cakePHP. What is the problem ? Please help. Thanks

• Android on Eclipse - Adding jar files to an Eclipse Android Project

  I am developing an Android App that uses the Google APIs Client Library for Java version 1.12.0. I have added the jar files to the /libs folder (and not to a new /lib folder). I get the following error: Dx trouble processing "javax/xml/namespace/QName.class": Ill-advised or mistaken usage of a core class (java.* or javax.*) when not building a core library. I am NOT using Maven though, and all the answers by others seem to make use of Maven. Android version - 4.1.2 API level 16 Eclipse - Java EE Juno Any suggestions on how I can solve this?

• JJIL Android Java Problem

  Hey Guys, Long time reader never posted until now. Im having some trouble with Android, im implementing a library called JJIL its an open source imaging library. My problem is this i need to run some analysis on an image and to do so i need to have it in jjil.core.image format and once those processes are complete i need to convert the changed image from jjil.core.image to java.awt.image. I cant seem to find a method of doing this does anyone have any ideas or have any experience with this? I would be grateful of any help. Danny

  Hi, I'm studying EJB3. I have a session bean which provides services to create/update customer accounts. This session bean offers services on the lines of: public void addCustomer(Customer c); public void updateCustomer(Customer c); Ideally I'd like to have a single servlet: CustomerServlet and it would invoke the session beans that I have listed above. Problem is that I have two JSPs: UpdateAccount.jsp and CreateAccount.jsp. Both of these JSPs have a form with a method POST and action "CustomerServlet". How can I distinguish in a customer servlet which operation I should carry out: createAccount or updateAccount? I guess the alternative is to have a separate servlet for each operation... Thank you

• Good tool to test WCF service (not SOAP/HTTP webservice)

  I recently found SOAPUI and discovered that it is just a great tool for testing any SOAP/HTTP service. Conventionally, we have been developing our own driver to test our services (WCF based netTCP binding) so far. But with SOAPUI experience, I am really looking for some such tool that can be used with such ease with built-in facilities for load testing, functional testing etc. The other thought in my mind is that for services that I wish to deploy with netTCP can be first tested using a HTTP binding using SOAPUI. Once found suitable, the binding can be changed for the intended one. I shall like the views from all the experts here. Thanks.

• Possible to distribute an MPI (C++) program accross the internet rather than within a LAN cluster?

  Hi there, I've written some MPI code which works flawlessly on large clusters. Each node in the cluster has the same cpu architecture and has access to a networked (i.e. 'common') file system (so that each node can excecute the actual binary). But consider this scenario: I have a machine in my office with a dual core processor (intel). I have a machine at home with a dual core processor (amd). Both machines run linux, and both machines can successfully compile and run the MPI code locally (i.e. using 2 cores). Now, is it possible to link the two machines together via MPI, so that I can utilise all 4 cores, bearing in mind the different architectures, and bearing in mind the fact that there are no shared (networked) filesystems?   As per http://help.eclipse.org/helios/topic/org.eclipse.jst.ws.cxf.doc.user/reference/preferences.html The CXF 2.x preferences can be accessed via Window > Preferences... > Web Services > CXF 2.x Preferences from the top level menu. but I dont see the option CXF 2.x Preferences under Web Services, though I have chosen JavaEE perspective. any ideas how to enable this? Sorry for such a simple question. I also cannot do not see CXF as a Project Facet as per http://help.eclipse.org/helios/index.jsp?topic=/org.eclipse.jst.ws.jaxws.doc.user/gettingstarted/requirements.html I know this is something to do with getting Eclipse aware of CXF libraries, but cant find the tutorial for this.

  I've looked at Amazon S3 and it costs roughly $4746 per month for 100 megabits/s (which translates into 31,640 Gigabytes of data transferred. That's at a rate of $0.15 per gig.) I haven't found a cheaper "cloud" option. I'm curious if there's any other cloud hosting option out there cheaper than S3. Uptime is not an issue because I can build failover for most things into the browser. e.g. I can use javascript to say "if the image didn't load then go to this other URL instead." FYI I'm currently using a colocation facility which is about 30% cheaper than S3 and I'm familiar with colo prices - so this question is really about "cloud" services and by that I mean services where I don't have to worry about the infrastructure.

  Hi, I have a service contract with Message as shown below. [OperationContract] Message MyMethodWithMessage(Message myMsgParam); Everything works fine. I could host my services. But when I try to create proxies through "Add Service References", I am getting the duplicate proxy classes. If I take out the above OperationContract and re run my services and try to create proxies, then "Add Service References" does not provide duplicate proxies. I am really confused about this!!! • How does one modify the thread scheduling behavior when using Threading Building Blocks (TBB)?

  Does anyone know how to modify the thread scheduling (specifically affinity) when using TBB? Doing a high level analysis on a simple parallel-for application, it seems like TBB is specifying the underlying threads' affinity in a way that reduces performance. Specifically, the cores I'm running on have hyper-threading enabled, and it looks like TBB is affinitizing threads to the same core even if there is a different core left completely unloaded. FWIW, I realize it's likely that TBB is doing the "right thing" and that changing the threads' affinity will only reduce performance. I'd just like to experiment with it to see if that's really the case.

  This question is an updated version of a previous question I have asked on here. I am new to client-server model with SQL Server as the relational database. I have read that public access to SQL Server is not secure. If direct access to the database is not a good practice, then what kind of layer should be placed between the server and the client? Note that I have a desktop application that will serve as the client and a remote SQL Server database that will provide data to the client. The client will input their username and password in order to see their data. I have heard of terms like VPN, ISA, TMG, Terminal Services, proxy server, and so on. I need a fast and secure n-tier architecture. P.S. I have heard of web services in front of the database. Can I use WCF to retrieve, update, insert data? Would it be a good approach in terms of security and performance?

• Is there anyway to bring web @Context into JUnit (CXF+Spring)

  I am trying to create unit test environment to test RESTFul services (cfx+spring) in my dev environemnt. To test RESTFul Services, I require @Context within JUnit test cases. @Context should contain HttpRequest, HttpSession, ServletContext, ServletConfig and all other webserver related information. I have setup the JUnit for the above, but when I run, @Context is coming as null. This could be because there is no webserver running and there is no @Context. I am just doubting whether there is a way to created sample web @Context and pass to JUnit. Any other ideas are welcome to bring web @Context into JUnit test cases. Thank you, Sudheer
