• Restrict IPMI access on Dell BMC and iDRAC to an allowed IP range

  I'm trying to secure the iDRAC's and BMC's on some of my Dell servers (R210, R410, R510). I want to restrict access to IPMI commands to only a few IP addresses. I've successfully restricted access to the iDrac using the instructions from http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/software/smdrac3/idrac/idrac10mono/en/ug/html/racugc2d.htm#wp1181529 , but the IP restrictions do not affect IPMI. A separate management network is not practical at this time because of lack or ports and some Dell BMC's don't offer a separate port. I'm told by my networking group that our switches don't support trunking, so using the vlan tagging is not an option either. Is there a way restrict the IPMI access to a list of allowed addresses? FYI, for various reasons, I have a mix of Dell servers with BMC's, iDrac Express and iDrac enterprise management features.

  I was serving html referencing svg files in Cassini, and having problems since the mime type was not being sent properly. I ended up writing my own port of Cassini that set the extension based on mime type. After a good night of sleep I realized that there might be some sort of registry key or config file where I can configure custom mime types for SimpleWorkerRequest, the .NET class that serves content through Casinni. However, I don't know what that is.

• OpenVPN performance: how many concurrent clients are possible?

  I am evaluating a system for a client where many OpenVPN clients connect to a OpenVPN server. "Many" means 50000 - 1000000. Why do I do that? The clients are distributed embedded systems, each sitting behind the system owners dsl router. The server needs to be able to send commands to the clients. My first naive approach is to make the clients connect to the server via an openvpn network. This way, the secure communication tunnel can be used in both directions. This means that all clients are always connected to the server. There are many clients summing up over the years. The question is: does the OpenVPN server explode when reaching a certain number of clients? I am already aware of a maximum TCP connection number limit, therefore (and for other reasons) the VPN would have to use UDP transport. OpenVPN gurus, what is your opinion?

  Hi all, Is there a way to detect memory fragmentation on linux ? This is because on some long running servers I have noticed performance degradation and only after I restart process I see better performance. I noticed it more when using linux huge page support -- are huge pages in linux more prone to fragmentation ? I have looked at /proc/buddyinfo in particular. I want to know whether there are any better ways(not just CLI commands per se, any program or theoretical background would do) to look at it.

  I am trying make an uninstall app which removes an application X on a regular basis. The starting point to access applications installed in a Windows machine is through retrieving them from a WMI Class called Win32_Product. But when I run the basic command like this, I get the below error. I have searched technet and SO, but either their workarounds did not work for me or were too technical in detail which did not make sense to me. Please help. • Forwarding MySQL connection with iptables and differents network interfaces

  I have a PC with Ubuntu as a router. It has a 3G connection with a public IP to the Internet, and there is a private wireless subnet. So it has two active interfaces: ppp0: public IP (WAN) wlan0: private IP (LAN) With iptables I wannt to forward every MySQL connection (port 3306) to a local machine (10.42.43.10) of the subnet. I type these iptables commands: iptables -A PREROUTING -t nat -i ppp0 -p tcp --dport 3306 -j DNAT --to 10.42.43.10:3306 iptables -A FORWARD -p tcp -i ppp0 -o wlan0 -d 10.42.43.10 --dport 3306 -j ACCEPT But it doesn't work. telnet publicip 3306 fails :-( Any help will be appreciated.   How can I copy a file using DOS commands into a directory structure that may not yet exist? I need to be able to force the creation of the directory path to the target file location if that location doesn't already exist. For example, there is already a file.txt in this location: C:\file.txt And I want to copy it to C:\example\new\path\to\copy\of\file\file.txt but at this time C:\example\ and all the subdirectories may or may not yet exist. Basically, I am looking for a "copy and create the target path if necessary" command. What would you recommend is the best way to achieve this?

  I want to get more combos in Emacs, so I tried to bind Alt, Super, Hyper via modmap to keys. I failed at it. So I tried to use xdotool. I started emacs -Q for clean experiment. Pressed C-hC-c and executed in other terminal: xdotool key --window 119537875 "meta+x" xdotool key --window 119537875 "alt+x" Both commands resulted in M-x runs the command execute-extended-command. So, Emacs do not differ between Alt and Meta. How can I fix it?

• iproute2 rules and iptables NAT... what is the difference?

  We have 2 different ISP connections. Our previous "IT guy" setup our firewall like so: When /etc/rc.local was executed on startup, it did a bunch of ip rule add and ip route add commands in order to route certain internal hosts to use certain ISP connections. Then at the end of /etc/rc.local, he executed our iptables firewall rules that were generated by Firewall Builder. These iptables rules have both Policy and NAT rules setup in them. What I don't understand, is why did he use iproute2 to specify rules and routes but also specify NAT rules for iptables? Why didn't he just do it all in one or the other instead of using them both? Could he have got rid of the iproute2 rules and routes and just put all those same rules into the iptables NAT settings?

  I'm trialing a ubuntu server 12.04 LTS to replace a Windows Server that I use but I have got a little stuck with SSH I'm currently able to SSH into the server but I need to have multiple persistent SSH connections as I have at least 3 applications that need to run in the server and still be able to access their terminals to issue commands to the applications. At the moment this is fine if I use the physical terminals of the machine as I can just jump between the three terminals I use but remotely doing this is the issue. As I'm not entirely familiar with this side of linux I'm not sure if this is even possible to do or how to even get around this issue.

First I searched all the server for cgi-bin folder and it did not find any. Second I'm running my website on pure .NET and I don't use any scripts like php. Question is how can I remove this CGI thing from the IIS?

  When using the grep plugin to VIM, I can search the current directory for all occurrences of a string within a set of files, like this: :grep Ryan *.txt This outputs something like this: file1.txt:3:Ryan was here file2.txt:10:Ryan likes VIM file3.txt:5:superuser.com is a fav of Ryan (1 of 3): Ryan was here Press ENTER or type command to continue If I press enter, it just takes me back to my editor. What I really want to do is be able to open up one of those files and jump to the place where the string was found. Is there a way to do this? The 1 of 3 part makes me think there's a way to tab through the results, but I don't know what commands are available to me. Can anybody shed some light on this?

Update Forgetting I had this problem, I went to mount a wim using the Powershell ISE and actuallygot a visual error message about "C:\Program Files (x86)\Windows Kits\8.1\Assessment and Deployment Kit\Deployment Tools\x86\DISM\api-ms-win-downlevel-advapi32-l4-1-0.dll" not being installed. After checking that the dll did in fact exist in the folder I called regsvr32 and received another error message Will try reinstalling as recommended.

It is working fine when I return Collection of some object which does not contain any other custom objects as its fields. Am I missing any settings for this to work? Thanks!

With most IPv6 commands, such as telnet -6 or traceroute6, I get the error: connect: No route to host For example, I have a web server. • Search for and print only matched pattern

  I have some huge xml text files. I need to write a script to find and print a specific tag only. I tried sed and grep but they both return the whole line. Using SunOS 5.x, so not all linux commands may work. grep -o is not available. The 'xml' file is not actually one huge xml document, but each line is a separate xml document, with just a few tags, not even nested. And the structure is fairly easy, so full xml parsers is not needed, and probably would not work. I was looking for sed, awk, or some other one liners, but could not get them to work, and they are both relatively new to me.
