  • VPN/IPsec for RD, port 80,

    I have two Windows VPS's that talk to each other. 1) I already firewall Remote Desktop to a few IPs. I want to require me to connect instead to the server via VPN (IPSec?) in order to then be able to RD. 2) I want to also only permit access to port 80 on the server if I am VPN'd in to the server (authenticated) 3) If possible, I want to secure communication between other VPS's I have using the same method? The question is how do I bring up all the Apps in farm via TCP/IP. The Citrix online plugin does not allow the same access as Program Neighborhood did to farms. Please help.

  • EasyVPN client Access mutiple subnet behind cisco 5510

    I need help with the following scenario Main network ASA 5510 (one inside 192.168.10.1 connection and one outside connection). This ASA 5510 connect to switch 3570 with 3 VLANS configured (192.168.10.0, 10.10.11.0, 10.10.12.0). On the remote site I have ASA5505 ( 10.10.13.0) connected to this ASA5510 through EZVPN, but all it can see is the 192.168.10.0 subnet. What do I need to do to get the subnet 10.10.13.0 to see all 3 internal subnets.

    Why isn't my audio service running? It's so random. Sometimes I am able to change my PC volumn, other times I am not. I've restarted the following services: Remote Procedure Call (RPC) Multimedia Class Scheduler Windows Audio Endpoint Builder I think I started noticing this after I went mucking around in msconfig looking for ways to improve PC performance. I know I shut off some services, but that was over 6 months ago today and I am finally getting tired of it happening.

    I have a NFS Server: usanfsd01 And a remote machine: usafssd01 I tried mounting a directory from usafssd01 onto usanfsd01 by adding the following line to /etc/fstab as root usanfsdo1:/home/dblogs /home/data/dblogs nfs rw 0 0 And when I run the following command to see if NFS is exporting the share, it's not shown showmount -e usanfsdo1 Can someone please help? Also, a point of interest would be there is another mount that works on the same servers and thats defined as below in the /etc/fstab usanfsdo1:/home/files /home/data/files nfs rw 0 0 /etc/exports /nfs/home/dblogs 'IPADDRESS'(rw,no_root_squash)

    Apparently, on my notebook, I have suddenly lost any ability to use network connections, involving SSL and/or data encryption, provided my MS: 1) remote desktop connections: Because of an error in data encryption, this session will end 2) browse HTTPS sites: Can't browse HTTPS pages. TLS error 3) communicate over WiFi, while wired is ok Is there any possible one central reason for all of these problems in Windows? Third party applications, like Putty, works fine. Is it possible to reset/repair certificate store or something in Windows?

  • Error when sending mail to an external mail server from Postfix on CentOS

    I just installed Postfix. i have not yet done any configuration on it. Each time I try to use it to sendmail from another application, it keeps telling me that COnnection was refused from the ip I want to connect to.     Hi, recently I've purchased a VPS package which runs Ubuntu 9.04. I'm going to be using it as a general purpose server with a web server, git server, etc. Now, the package is fairly cheap, but in exchange in there's little to no auxiliary functionality, including an absence of nameservers. So, given that I have a domain name and full root access to the VPS, is it possible to configure a nameserver on the VPS for the VPS? That is, I want to link my domain name to my server without the need for an additional server. Thanks

  • Backup XAMPP (Htdocs & MySQL)

    I have a development server, but would like to backup everything at least daily to a remote location. I would like to backup the htdocs folder and the MySQL servers. But if possible also the settings of the server and anything else relevant. At the moment I am using DropBox for the htdocs, but this is not ideal. I have looked into Git, DropBox simple copy paste on a daily basis. I was wondering what any advice would be. For example how hard would it be to set it up as a cloud based system? Any and all advice is greatly appreciated.

Everytime my ssh private key is used I need to enter my password. This is neither secure nor comfortable. I have done comprehensive research on the net but only found out dated documentation. Several things I tried didn't work out. Current status: SSH setup working with direct passphrase input ssh-agent running in X session $SSH_AUTH_SOCK set to ssh-agent's socket in X session How to enable ssh-agent for keeping the passphrase in memory for ~15mins and as a bonus always use a graphical dialog for its input? I use asymmetric SSH key pairs for pushing/pulling in Git VCS logging remotely into different server systems

  • How to get the speed of a network card on the command line?

    I am trying to see what the speed of some network cards on a remote server. Our reporting software says they are 10Mbps, but I am sure that is wrong they should be 1Gbps. Our monitoring software uses SNMP to query the servers, perhaps the servers are reporting information incorrectly. ifconfig does not report what the speed of the devices are. How can I see what the currently configured speed of the cards are.

  • 20GB+ worth of emails in my /home what is a better solution for that?

    My email storage requirements are outgrowing anything reasonable with respect to local mail storage. As we speak 99% of my home partition is filled with personal mail in Thunderbirds mail dirs. Needless to say, this is just painful, badly searchable and as history has proven me that backups work, but Thunderbird is capable of loosing a lot of mail very easily. Currently I have an remote IMAPS server (Dovecot) running for my daily mail, accessible from anywhere, which from my own practice works efficiently up to about 1000 emails. Then some archive directories should be used to move mail around. I have been looking into DBMail, but I wonder if I make my case worse or better which such solution. None of the supported database employ string deduplication or string compression out of the box, so is this going to help me with 20GB+ mail? What about falling back to a plain old IMAP server? A filesystem like ZFS would support stuff like GZIP transparently, which could help. Could someone share their thoughts? The 20GB mostly consists of mailinglists, and normal mail. Not things like attachments. To add some clarifications; As we speak, my mail is not server side indexed at all - only my new mail arrives at a remote IMAP server. It is all local storage from former POP3 accounts, local mirrored Gmail and IMAP accounts. In my perspective it is not Thunderbird that sucks, its fileformat that sucks. Regarding the 1000 mails. On the road I am using Alpine and MobileMail, quite happy with both of them, but some management is required to actually manage the mail. Sieve helps a lot with that, but browing through 10.000 e-mails is not fun, especially not on a mobile client. I am quite happy with Dovecot, never had any issues with it. I just wonder if this is the way to go. Or if there are any other better solutions. What my question is: what is the best practice solution that allows 20GB+ mails and is -on demand remotely accessible, easy to backup and archive worthy. It doesn't need to be available 24x7.   • No internet connection with Cisco VPN

    I have a VPN connection set up using the Cisco VPN Client, and whenever I connect to it I lose my internet connection. This is the first time I have used this software, all previous VPNs I have used have been setup through Windows and I can uncheck the 'use remote gateway' box in the TCP-IP properties box to get around this. Is there a similar option in the Cisco Client that I am missing? I am running on Windows 7 32 bit

  • E-ink screens for desktop PC?

    Are there PC monitors which are e-ink displays? E-ink is so much easier to read documents on that I'd rather like a secondary monitor just for documents, but I can't find any monitors available currently. Perhaps just an e-reader with some kind of remote control from a PC, so that it can be put in a cradle and display a document, but it would also need to have a fairly large screen to make it practical (perhaps something like A4 (EU) or Letter (US) sized?)

  • Focus previous window when I close one instead of one of the same application in Mac OS X?

    The situation is: I have one MacVim open for coding. Then I switch to iTerm to run git commit, which will open a new MacVim for editing the commit message per my setting. The problem is, when I finish writing the commit message and close the MacVim window, the previous iTerm window is not focused. The other MacVim window is focused instead. Is there any way I can change this behaviour? I just want the previous window get focused when I close a window.

  • Proper SSH keys location for a system user ?

    I have a system account with which I run a database (namely mongodb). By default it has no home. Now I'd like to trigger scp commands from that account, with ssh keys authentication to a remote server, to export backups. Should I just create a /home/mongodb and /home/mongodb/.ssh folders manually to store the SSH keys, like the default for regular users ? Is it still considered a system account after that ? Thanks!

I only need to connect to remote hosts, so running a local server by default should be disabled. Is there an easy way to disable certain parts so I can speed up my PC and booting time?
