    im trying to open some local ports (LAN) and then re-direct them to another server (WAN) using iptables. Here is my config: #WAN allow-hotplug eth1 auto eth1 iface eth1 inet static #Tarjeta red WAN address 192.168.2.2 gateway 192.168.2.1 netmask 255.255.255.0 #LAN allow-hotplug eth0 auto eth0 iface eth0 inet static address 192.168.16.6 netmask 255.255.255.0 network 192.168.16.0 broadcast 192.168.16.255 I try this: iptables -A PREROUTING -t nat -i eth0 -p tcp --dport 110 -j DNAT --to 200.40.30.218:110 iptables -A FORWARD -p tcp -i eth0 -o eth1 -d 200.40.30.218 --dport 110 -j ACCEPT iptables -A PREROUTING -t nat -i eth0 -p tcp --dport 25 -j DNAT --to 200.40.30.218:25 iptables -A FORWARD -p tcp -i eth0 -o ethq -d 200.40.30.218 --dport 25 -j ACCEPT but, it did not work. i also try changeing eth0 to eth1 (and eth1 to eth0) but nothing happened.   • Possible reasons for high CPU load of taskmgr.exe process on VM?

    On a VMware virtual machine which has severe performance problems I can see a constant average of 20+ percent CPU load for the TASKMGR.EXE (task manager) process. The apps running on this server have lower load, around 4 to 10 percent average. The VM is running Windows 2003 Server Standard with 3.75 GB assigned RAM. I suspect that the task manager CPU load has something to do with other VM instances on the VMWare server but could not see a similar value on internal ESXi systems (the problematic VM runs in the customers IT).

    For some bad reason Microsoft decided to remove all standard desktop icons besides the Recyle bin. It is easy to create shortcuts to each single disk using create shortcut method. But I would like to have the computer icon too. I guess there will be an increased demand to create useful shortcuts on Windows 8 Servers Desktop, because the metro surface 'on the backside of your screen' is just impractical.

  • What UDP port number(s) is/are most likely to be unblocked at a client? [closed]

    For a custom UDP server servicing a wide variety of client machines sending custom UDP packets, what's the best port to choose as the standard listening port for the server (in that the port is not likely to be disabled at the client by a firewall or router)? My first inclination is to use port 80, since almost everyone is using HTTP, but that's TCP, and maybe blocking of UDP on port 80 has become common. What's the best port to choose?

The question marks are odd, and any directory with a question mark throws an io error when you attempt to use/delete/etc it. I was unable to umount the drive due to "busy". Rebooting the server "fixed" it but it was throwing some raid errors on shutdown. I have configured two raid 5 arrays and both started doing this on random files. Both are using the following config: mkfs.xfs -l size=128m -d agcount=32 mount -t xfs -o noatime,logbufs=8 Nothing too fancy, but part of an optimized config for this box. We're not partitioning the drives and that was suggested as a possible issue. Could this be the culprit?

  • Translation of default folder names in Windows

    Windows (all versions) folders have their standard names such as Users, Documents, Local Settings etc that are unfortunately translated in other language versions, and thus instead of the names that are in the path to the folder they appear in the file explorer under quite different names. For example, instead Pictures I get "Moje obrazy" (translation into Polish language), and yet in the path it is still "pictures". This is very confusing and I would like to turn this automatic translation off, but can't find how.

    Way back from Windows 3.x days to the latest 64bit Windows 7 (classic/standard theme).. there is a way to make the window edge border wider then 1 pixel... I often use 3 to 5 pixel to make it easy to grab on hi-resolutions displays and hi DPI monitors. There doesn't seem to be an easy or obvious way to do this with the Gnome X-Windowing system? Does any one know how?

  • Can a virus attack my BIOS to disable the DVD drive?

    A friend's laptop DVD drive is suddenly no longer detected. It's going to be difficult to walk him through going into the BIOS (he's not local). I wonder if it is even worthwhile i.e. whether the BIOS settings can be corrupted by a virus. Are BIOS settings formatted in a standard way such that a virus writer would know what to alter? FYI, he did reinstall the OS and the drive is still not detected.

    With Active Directory, what is a good way to monitor replication? I have multiple sites and multiple locations, so ideally both replication between sites and within sites would be monitored. I'm not really sure if each DC needs to be monitored, each NTDS connection, or each DC * Each NTDS connection. For the purposes of fitting into a standard alerting methodology, perfmon counters that would allow me to alert if replication was behind X minutes seems like it might be ideal.

    I've a webapp that apparently uses the standard java.util.Logging (no log4j or other stuff). Everything is logged under "com.bzsearchj.". I'm assuming I can configure Tomcat 6, via $CATALINA_HOME/conf/logging.properties to have it log everything under com.bzsearcj. to its own file, bonus if I can make it rotate daily - right now everything gets logged to the catalina-xxx.log What do I put in the conf/logging.properties to do this ?

  • cannot connect to my nginx server from remote machine

    I thought that it's iptables problem.. but it seems not. I really have no idea about this situation. I'm getting a server hosting(CentOS). I installed Nginx + Django and nginx uses 8080 port. A domain is connected to the server. When I executed "wget [domain]:8080/[app name]/" in the server, it worked. Of course, "wget 127.0.0.1:8080/[app name]/" has no problem. (wget [server ip]:8080/[app name]/, either) However, from other computers, connecting was failed. (message says, no route) I checked my firewall setting. I excuted these commands. iptables -I INPUT -p tcp --dport 8080 -j ACCEPT iptables -I OUTPUT -p tcp --sport 8080 -j ACCEPT iptables -A RH-Firewall-1-INPUT -m state --state NEW -m tcp -p tcp --dport 8080 -j ACCEPT /etc/init.d/iptables restart I don't really understand all options of commands and I think there were useless commands, but I just tried all googled iptables settings. But still I cannot connect to my server. What should I check, first? I don't know this is important, but add to this post. On 80 port, an apache server is running. It works fine, I can connect to apache from other computers. There is DB connecting issue, (PHP to MySQL) but I think that it is just PHP coding bug. please excuse my low-level English. I'm not native English speaker.. but I tried to explane well as far as possible. Thank you for reading this question.

The setup utility in centos is too basic (doesn't seem to allow me to open up custom ports, just standard ones). Suggestions of a tool or utility to simply iptables management? The three servers are extremely similar in setup and configuration. The JSP page is being served up by OpenCMS, and I'm using the Caucho's Resin webserver. I understand that you don't know how my servers or CMS are set up, but really, what I'm looking for is ideas. Any ideas at all would help -- this problem has been driving me absolutely batty.     I am currently trying to return an array which contains information about a seat at a theate such as Seat number, Name, Price and Status. I am using a combobox where I want to list all vacant or reserved seats based upon choice. When I choose reserved seats in my combobox, I call upon a method using AddRange. This method is supposed to loop through an array containing all seats and their information. If a seat is Vacant, I add it to an array. When all is done, I return this array. However, I am dealing with a ArgumentNullException.
