• Filling data in FormView from different tables

  Hi, I am using a FormView in an online quiz page for displaying the questions and RadioButtons (for answers) http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2438219/online-quiz-using-asp-dot-net Now, I need to pick the questions according to a TestID and a particular Set of that Test. The testid and the set_number would be passed using Session variables. I'm having 3 testIDs and 3 Sets per TestID and, thus, am using 9 tables to store the Questions, the Options and the correct answer. I need help on how to set the FormView so that it extracts the questions from a particular table only. Do I need to use a StoredProcedure ? If yes, how? PS: If I use only one table to store all the questions from each Set and for each TestID, I can do that, but I'd prefer using separate tables.

  I need to parse plain Win32 DLL/Exe and need to get all imports and exports from it and to show it on console or GUI(say Win Forms). Is it possible to parse Win32 DLL/Exe in C#.NET, read its export table,import table and get managed types from it. As its unmanaged PE(.NET doesn't allows you to convert unmanaged PE files to managed .NET assemblies, only it generates COM managed assemblies). So how to parse export and import tables of PE files and take all methods(signatures from it) in managed form.(e.g if char* as argument, it should display as IntPtr)

• Changing system colors for a single application (Windows, .NET)

  I know I should generally avoid messing up with such system settings, but my application do already use nonstandard colors and I have no influence on that. I would like to be able to add standard .NET controls in some places, but their colors do not match. I would like to have a hack that would replace system colors for this one application. One more important thing to note is that it is a .NET application. My (incomplete) ideas so far were: To create a proxy User32.dll library with replaced GetSysColor, but it would be very tedious (731 functions to be redirected, 1 to be replaced) and I do not know how to force my application to use that particular copy. To intercept somehow invocations to GetSysColors (unfortunatelly it is somewhere in the CLR I think). To modify somehow .NET class SystemColors (in memory? is it possible?). Do you have any idea, what is the best (and complete) way to achieve this?

• Problems using FluentNHibernate + SQLite with .NET4?

  I have a WPF application running with VS2010 .Net3.5 using Nhibernate with FluentNHibernate + SQLite, and all works fine. Now I want to change to use .Net4, but this has turned into a more painful experience then I expected.. When setting up the connection a FluentConfigurationException is thrown from FluentConfiguration.BuildConfiguration saying: An invalid or incomplete configuration was used while creating a SessionFactory. Check PotentialReasons collection, and InnerException for more details. The inner exception gives us more information: Could not create the driver from NHibernate.Driver.SQLite20Driver, NHibernate, Version=2.1.2.4000, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=aa95f207798dfdb4. It has an InnerException again: Exception has been thrown by the target of an invocation. Which again has an InnerException: The IDbCommand and IDbConnection implementation in the assembly System.Data.SQLite could not be found. Ensure that the assembly System.Data.SQLite is located in the application directory or in the Global Assembly Cache. If the assembly is in the GAC, use element in the application configuration file to specify the full name of the assembly. Now - to me it sounds like it doesn't find System.Data.SQLite.dll, but I can't understand this. Everywhere this is referenced I have "Copy Local", and I have verified that it is in every build folder for projects using SQLite. I have also copied it manually to every Debug folder of the solution - without luck. Notes: This is exactly the same code that worked just fine before I upgraded to .Net4. I did see some x64 x86 mismatch problems earlier, but I have switched to use x86 as the target platform and for all referenced dlls. I have verified that all files in the Debug-folder are x86. I have tried the precompiled Fluent dlls, I have tried compiling myself, and I have compiled my own version of Fluent using .Net4. I see that there are also others that have seen this problem, but I haven't really seen any solution yet. After @devio's answer I tried adding a reference to the SQLite dll. This didn't change anything, but I hope I made it right though..   I'm getting myself acquainted with ASP.Net-MVC, and I was trying to accomplish some common tasks I've accomplished in the past with webforms and other functionality. On of the most common tasks I need to do is create SEO-friendly urls, which in the past has meant doing some url rewriting to build the querystring into the directory path. for example: www.somesite.com/productid/1234/widget rather than: www.somesite.com?productid=1234&name=widget What method do I use to accomplish this in ASP.Net-MVC?   uploading multiple files from client to server with asp.net I have been looking at the asp.net upload control but that is for one file (unless someone knows a better way to do it). http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/system.web.ui.webcontrols.fileupload.aspx For what I want to do I don't even really need a browse. I know the files off of the client are at a certain location. Is it possible to create a collection of *HttpPostedFile*s and upload those? http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/system.web.httppostedfile.aspx I don't think it is possible but would be glad to be proven wrong. Is there a different asp.net method or control that will easily allow uploading multiple files from client to server?

• Security exception with ASP.NET AJAX toolkit

  I've got an ASP.NET WebForms app that I've written, which uses the ASP.NET AJAX Toolkit. I've put the MultiView control onto the web form, and it worked fine, when I had it under Vista. Well, I had to replace my machine (HD failed) and I went to Windows 7 Ultimate. I tried copying the ASP.NET app from the system (before it finally failed for good) and put it onto the Windows 7 machine. I can bring up the app fine, go to all pages, but the one with these controls on it. When I do I get the following error: Security Exception Description: The application attempted to perform an operation not allowed by the security policy. To grant this application the required permission please contact your system administrator or change the application's trust level in the configuration file. Exception Details: System.Security.SecurityException: Request for the permission of type 'System.Web.AspNetHostingPermission, System, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089' failed. What's going on? How do I fix it?

  I'm starting a web application that contains the following projects: Booking.Web Booking.Services Booking.DataObjects Booking.Data I'm using the repository pattern in my data project only. All services will be the same, no matter what happens. However, if a customer wants to use Access, it will use a different data repository than if the customer wants to use SQL Server. I have StructureMap, and want to be able to do the following: Web project is unaffected. It's a web forms application that will only know about the services project and the dataobjects project. When a service is called, it will use StructureMap (by looking up the bootstrapper.cs file) to see which data repository to use.   Hi, I have an iPhone app accessing an ASP.NET Webservice for data. Since I'm building both the ASP.NET end and the iPhone part of the app, and we'll shortly be publishing it in the Appstore, I'd like to know what security checks I need to make. The basic flow of the program (without divulging too much info about it) is as follows - . Login (Enter Username, pass on the app) . Primary screen where the data is loaded from a webservice and presented . And post data back after a few updates by the user I'm using POST to send the data to the Webservice via HTTPS. I'm sanitizing the inputs, checking for length of the inputs, but that's the limit of my knowledge as far as security goes. Any other tips are greatly appreciated! Edit: I should probably add that our service needs to be subscribed to separately and the iPhone component of it cannot be used alone. So the average user will not have login credentials. And the app itself has healthcare data in it, so I'd rather not have anyone trying attacks from my login page. Thanks, Teja.

  I have a Library ( DLL ) that has a method with the following: var masterKey = Registry. LocalMachine. OpenSubKey("SOFTWARE\\Microsoft\\Dynamics\\5.0\\"); When running this method in an WinForms applicaiton, masterKey is not null and when running this in asp.net masterKey is null! I've checked the executing user with WindowsIdentity.GetCurrent().Name and the same user is executing both applications. The asp.net application is executed in visual studio ( debug: F5 ) and so is the WinForms application. How come I cannot read the key in asp.net?

  I am creating an RSS reader application that requests the RSS from my server. I mean, the RSS is first downloaded to my server, then application downloads it from my server. I want to create RSS cache for this. And for example, each RSS would be refreshed every 1 minute. So, If 10 users request RSS of example.com in 1 minute, my server will download it only for the first time, and in other 9 requests, RSS will be loaded from cache. My question is, Should I use a Database (MSSQL) for this purpose? or I should use files? I have no limit in Database size nor in file size... EDIT: I'm using ASP.NET for the server.

• Lose changed data in session

  Our asp.net 2.0 application has a very long process (synchronized) before sending response back to client. I observed that a second request, exactly same the initial one, was sent after client IE8 waited response for a long period of time while our application was still processing the first request. I use page session with predefined key to store a flag when the initial request arrives and then starts long process while client IE waits for the response, so if second request comes in, our application checks the session value. After our application sets the session flag and starts processing, I use Fiddler “Abort Session” to abort the initial request, right away the second request (same as the first one) is sent automatically, but session value set earlier seems no longer exist. Any thoughts?

The problem is when I run this code, it says "Operation is not valid due to the current state of the object" I've tried changing the code around several times, and it still points to BeginTransaction. What gives?

• GridView Style based on bound data.

  I would like the rows of my GridView to have strikethrough based on a bound data value called IsObsolete. I tried to do this: <RowStyle BackColor="#EFF3FB" Font-Strikeout='<%# Bind('IsObsolete') %>' /> But obviously this doesn't parse. I'd rather not do this in GridView.DataBound(). Any other ideas?
