    Did somebody tried to build Qt 4.5 with Visual Studio 2010 (Beta 2)? Any hints on doing that successfuly? Later edit I tried to run configure from a Visual Studio 2010 console. There is no makespecs support for 2010, so configure fails because of that.

How can I do the same thing, with custom headings ("Machine status", "Memory", etc.) and custom toolbar buttons ("Create virtual machine")? I can't seem to find any documentation for this.

  • Debugging on the production server in Rails

    how do you effectively debug on live server in rails, whether on a beta/production server? I tried modifying the file directly on the server, and restarting the app, but the changes does not seem to take effect, or takes a long time to (caching?) I also tried to do "script/server production" locally, but that is very slow The other option is to code and deploy, but that is very inefficient. Anyone has any insights as to how they do this efficiently?

  • Enable proper relative path in cron

    I have 2 servers that are on completely separate OS' and configurations. One properly accepts require_once '../file.php'; and the other doesn't, because it's relative to where the cron is loading I guess. How can I fix the 2nd location so that it's relative path is from the relative path of the file. I need this to work in 3 different environments (local, beta, and live) so I don't want to write a bunch of code on this page, I'd prefer a configuration adjustment if possible.

    I went to http://www.asp.net/mvc and the web installer offered me the option to install MVC 2, but not MVC 1. I thought MVC 2 was still in beta? Either way, I need to write an MVC 1 app. In visual studio, my only choice is either ASP.NET Web Application or ASP.NET MVC 2 Web Application. Can anyone advise?

  • IIS: 404 error on every file in a virtual directory.

    I am trying to write my first WCF service for IIS 6.0. I followed the instructions on MSDN. I created the virtual directory, I can browse the directory fine but anything I click (even a sub-folder in that folder) gives me a 404 error. What am I missing that I can not access any files or folders? Any logs or whatnot you need just tell me where to find them in the comments and I will post them. Use the IIS Microsoft Management Console (MMC) snap-in to enable the appropriate Web extension. Default Web Extensions include: ASP, ASP.net, Server-Side Includes, WebDAV publishing, FrontPage Server Extensions, Common Gateway Interface (CGI). Custom extensions must be added and explicitly enabled. See the IIS 6.0 Help File for more information. I am guessing the 404 0 2 at the end of the log is a 404.2 error. I now know the why, I still don't know the how on how to fix it.

    We have two Windows 2008 R2 SP1 servers running in a SQL failover cluster. On one of them we are getting the following events in the security log every 30 seconds. The parts that are blank are actually blank. Has anyone seen similar issues, or assist in tracking down the cause of these events? No other event logs show anything relevant that I can tell.   • How to start networking on a wired interface before logon in Ubuntu Desktop Edition

    Problem Ubuntu 9.10 Desktop Edition (and possibly previous versions as well, I haven't tested them) has no network connections after boot until at least 1 user logs in. This means any services that require networking (e.g. openssh-server) are not available until someone logs in locally either via gdm, kdm, or a TTY. Background Ubuntu 9.10 Desktop Edition uses the NetworkManager service to take commands from the nm-applet in Gnome (or it's equivalent in KDE). As I understand it, while NetworkManager is running at boot, it is not issued any commands to connect until you login for the first time because nm-applet isn't running until you login and your Gnome session starts (or similar for KDE). I'm not sure what prompts NetworkManager to connect to the network when you login via a TTY. There are several relevant variables involved in starting up the network connections including: Wired vs Wireless (and the resulting drivers, SSID, passwords, and priorities) Static vs DHCP Multiple interfaces Constraints Support Ubuntu 9.10 Karmic Koala (bonus points for additional supported versions) Support wired eth0 interface Receive an IP address via DHCP Receive DNS information via DHCP (obviously the DHCP server must provide this information) Enable networking at the proper time (e.g. some time after file systems are loaded but before network services like ssh start) Switching distros or versions (e.g. to Server Edition) is not an acceptable solution Switching to a Static IP configuration is not an acceptable solution Question How to start networking on a wired interface before logon in Ubuntu Desktop Edition? What I have tried Per this guide, adding the following entry into /etc/network/interfaces so that NetworkManager won't manage the eth0 interface: auth eth0 iface inet dhcp After reboot eth0 is down. Issuing ifconfig eth0 up brings the interface up but it receives no IP address. Issuing dhclient eth0 instead Does bring up the interface and it Does receive an IP address. Completely removing the NetworkManager package in addition to the settings above. I'm a bit confused with the whole UpStart/SysVinit mangling that's going in Ubuntu currently (I'm more familiar with the CentOS world). However, directly issuing sudo /etc/init.d/networking start Or sudo start networking does not bring up the eth0 interface at all, much less get an IP address.   • Hyper-V + RRAS NAT + Port Forwarding + RDP, can I get it all working together?

    I am running a Windows 2008 R2 server with various services running natively and two virtualised servers running on Hyper-V. The hardware server, I'm going to call it REAL1, has one external NIC, to which I can assign any of the following IP addresses: 1.2.3.4, 1.2.3.5, 1.2.3.6, etc... I need to achieve the following: I would like to be able to connect to REAL1 via remote desktop (RDP / port 3389) on one IP address (say 1.2.3.4), but also to the virtualised servers (I'm going to call them VIRTUAL1 and VIRTUAL2) on the other available IP addresses (say 1.2.3.5 and 1.2.3.6). The easiest way of doing this is to connect the virtual servers directly to the external interface and assign them each their own IP address. REAL1 will have 1.2.3.4, VIRTUAL1 will have 1.2.3.5 and VIRTUAL2 will have 1.2.3.6. Unfortunately, although I don't directly manage the two virtual servers, I have responsibility for their security. I would like to have some kind of firewall between the virtual servers an the internet. I have tried running a virtual machine firewall, but have found the performance on Hyper-V pretty terrible. The alternative I am now trying is Routing and Remote Access (RRAS): I have set up a virtual network called 'Internal' and REAL1 has a virtual network adapter connected to this virtual network I have connected each of the virtual servers to this network too I have assigned each server static IP addresses on this virtual network (REAL1 has 10.1.1.1, VIRTUAL1 has 10.1.1.2 and VIRTUAL2 has 10.1.1.3) I have installed RRAS and set up a NAT. The external interface is the external NIC, the internal interface is the virtual NIC connected to the internal network I have assigned all the available external IP addresses to the external NIC on REAL1. The virtual servers have been set up appropriately such that their default gateway is pointing to 10.1.1.1 and they can both access externally. Success! The RRAS is routing packets. The problem I have is that when I try to port forward services from the external IP address on REAL1, it only works if there is not already a service bound to the port. Remote desktop 'greedily' binds to every available IP address on port 3389 on REAL1 so I can't selectively forward incoming traffic for 1.2.3.5:3389 to 10.1.1.2:3389. RRAS will allow me to set up this port forwarding, and no errors come up. It just doesn't work. So the question I have is: Is there a better way of doing this? Or at least is there a way of resolving the apparant conflict between RRAS and everything else on the physical server?

  • IIS6 Log time recording problems

    On three separate occasions on two separate servers at nearly the same times, 6.9 hours seemingly went by without any data being written to the IIS logs, but, on closer inspection, it appears that it was all recorded all at once. Here's the facts as I know them: Windows Server 2003 R2 w/ IIS6 Logging using GMT, server local time GMT-7. Application was still operating and I have SQL data to prove that Time gaps appear in log file, not across two # headers appear at gap Load balancer pings every 30 seconds No caching Here's info on a particular case: an entry appears for 2009-09-21 18:09:27 then #headers the next entry is for 2009-09-22 01:21:54, and so are the next 1600 entries in this log file and 370 in the next log file. about half of the ~2000 entries on 2009-09-22 01:21:54 are load balancer pings (est. at 2/min for 6.9hrs = 828 pings) then entries are recorded as normal. I believe that these events may coincide with me deploying an ASP.NET application update into those machines. Also note that /ping.aspx returned 404 then switched to 200 just as the problem started. I rename the "I'm alive page" so the load balancer stops sending requests to the server while I'm working on it. What you see here is me renaming it back so the load balancer will use the server. So, this problem definitely coincides with me re-enabling the server. Any ideas?

  • SQL Server installation leaves odd hotfix folders on the root

    I have about a dozen weirdly named folders, for example 5e812807b3e1b04248ed046794a01b, on my d: drive after installing SQL Server 2008. Inside each folder are two subfolders: 1033 and hotfixexpress \1033\eula.txt \1033\finalsql2005information.rtf \1033\hotfix.rll \1033\sqlhotfix.chm \1033\sqlse.rll \hotfixexpress\files\sqlexpr.exe I get access denied whenever I try to delete any of these files / folders. I tried again after stopping all SQL server services, without luck. Any ideas?

  • Windows 7 Boot to VHD using a VHD clone of the system drive

    This seems like a not too difficult problem, and, after several hurdles, I'm maddeningly close. But I can't quite get there. I'm running Windows 7 in development shop. I want to start using VS2010 to work on some stuff that won't be released for awhile. My boss said no beta code on the production machine, but I could run VS2010 for this project IF I could do it in an isolated environment, like a virtual PC. Well, I've used the beta and RC of Win7 on VPC's before, and it was painfully slow because of the VPC environment. But everyone has been singing the praises of Windows 7's boot-to-VHD capability, where only the disk is virtualized, and you're actually running on the hardware. Supposed to be little slower, but nowhere near the speed penalty of VPC. I've spent a fair amount of time getting everything installed the way I want it. So I figured, I'll just clone my system drive using Disk2VHD, and boot off of that, and then install VS2010 onto that. (I keep most of my user data, including all my projects, in a separate partition, so that wouldn't have to be duplicated and would still be available.) Well, I had some difficulties with that, owing mainly to the fact that I was using an old version of Disk2VHD - (get the latest if you're going to try it.) But I did finally get it to boot. (Scott Hanselman has a good blog post on boot to VHD). But it wasn't exactly what I was expecting or hoping for. What I expected was that the VHD would become the C: drive, and the original (physical) C: drive would be either hidden or mounted under a different letter, and thus isolated and protected from any changes. What you actually get is that the VHD becomes the D: drive AND you boot from the D: drive, BUT your original C: drive is still there. Which is sort of okay EXCEPT that the Registry on the VHD is a clone of the Registry on C: drive, and includes many hard-coded references to C:. So the result is that some things come from (and modify) D: (the VHD), but some things come from (and modify) C:. (If you open a cmd prompt and do a SET to look at your environment variables, you will see a mixture of D:\ and C:\ paths.) So I don't really have an isolated environment. Most importantly, %ProgramFiles% is still set to C:\Program Files. What I really need is a tool that can access the registry files on the mounted VHD AS FILES, not as registry entries, and do a global search and replace on all the C:\ in strings to D:. I haven't found such a program. (I've tried to do it with a program called Registry Replace, but, even when running as Administrator, there are certain entries that the Registry won't let you change.) Does anyone know of one? Or any other solution to my problem (other than starting from scratch with a clean VHD and installing Win7 and all my programs on it.)?

  • Injection of banners in my webbrowsers possible malware

    Recently I have started to suspect that I have some kind of virus on my computer. There are 3 symptoms: Banners are being displayed on pages that doesn't use commercials, for instance when viewing screen-shots on Steam. It is only displayed after the rest of the page has been loaded and seems to be injected into it. The whole page is replaced with a commercial with the option to skip the commercial. The page is replaced with a search window claiming that the page could not be found. I have tried to scan my computer with Antivir and Adaware but only found a couple of tracking cookies. I have run HijackThis but since this isn't really my area I haven't been able to discern what shouldn't be there except the line about zonealarm since I have uninstalled it. Is there anyone out there who is able to see if there is anything suspicious in the log-file at the end or has suggestions regarding programs that might be better to find the virus than Antivir and Adaware?     Hi, i have already posted this here: here This has happened before with ubuntu 9.1 Beta2 build too that my wifi disconnects if im idle for 5 minutes... so i cant leave my lappy to download anything... i have to keep on continuously using it.. as soon i leave it idle for abt 5 minutes... wifi disconnects... and the pop up asking for password for wifi pops up...with the password already filled in... i just click on connect and it connects again... so whats the use of asking the password if the pre filled in pass works correctly... and this is happening on ubuntu 10.04 Beta2 too... and the workaround is that just open any menu like the applications menu in the taskbar and keep it open... under this state the ubuntu idleness never activates and so the wifi gets never disconnected... this has been confirmed by me many times.. this seems to be repeating again and again... i dont know why... and the second thing i want to report is that there is no way to report this bug from ubuntu... the launchpad.net talks of going through bug reporting process which is done against a definite package... now how does a user know which package would be causing this error?? there should be a more clear process of reporting such bugs to ubuntu team... thirdly the apport utility that reports crashing apps is totally uselss on 10.04 beta 2... as it collests information and reports that i cant submit the report because i dont have 100 other packages... without updating which i cant submit the report.... surely on a beta build there would be packages continuously being updated... so no system would be reported as fully updated... and so no practical apport reporting is possible?? please address these issues... really frustrating all this ... im a big fan of ubuntu but these things really bug me... and just to add fourthly... the suspend/hibernate feature has never ever worked on my toshiba m70-113 laptop... on any ubuntu version... always have to hard reboot after putting into suspend/hibernate mode.. on windows this has never been the case... why cant ubuntu beat windows in such cases too?? i would really like to see this soon... most importantly, when the router switches off... the wifi signals go off... then why the hell ubuntu keeps on connecting to that very wifi like hell and when doesnt connect shows the prompt to manually connect... with the wifi key already filled in... whats the use of saving the key when it has to ask the question from me either to connect or not?? and if its isnt available... just wait when its available.. i have only option to cancel and if i cancel it wont auto-connect!! what the heck?? one can see in the image that it says "authentication required by wireless network" when there isnt any.. as router has gone down!!
