  • Running a sharded DB from a single machine

  • How to determine which version of Oracle Client is being used from the server.

    Using Oracle 10g. ( 10.2.0.4 ) Possibly by looking at either logs or system tables is there a way to determine which version of the oracle client each connection is using. Our systems initially had 8.1.7 Clients, and then 9.X clients. We attempted to manually locate all machines that had older clients and upgrade them to to 10.2 Clients. We are seeking a method to audit (from the server) if we were successful in upgrading all of our client machines.

  • Editing A Library Symbol From ActionScript

    In the Flash authoring environment I can edit a library symbol and all on-stage instances based upon it reflect the changes. How can I do the same thing in ActionScript? There seems to be no way to address a library symbol. For example: Inside Flash CS3, I have created a Square.swf file that has 100 instances of the library symbol Square. Now, Square.swf is loaded into another file BlueSquare.swf and I want to change the Square symbol into a blue square so that all instances of Square become blue. How do I do this using Actionscript?     Have anyone ever create/manipulate a table application from the ground up/scratch? I want to create a table using flash AS 3. I like to have the features like to the MS Studio Web Developer option. The options are create a table, merge cells, split cell, resize columns, delete cell, delete row, delete column etc... I think this is going to be very complicated thing to do. I think the only way to do it is to build it from the ground up because I don’t think Flash has the library/component for it. I was able to create rows and columns by creating the # of rectangles listed it from the left to the right and move the next coordinate for the next row. Now the most challenging this is to manipulate it. This is the must have feature on my website and we don’t want use Javascript to create table on the server side to create the table.

  • We have a Solaris 9 server running Oracle 10G and have been getting memory consumption errors for a few weeks now

    We recently upgraded our Enterprise application and everything worked ok until one weekend when we did a server reboot, ever since then we have run into memory errors. The server has 4GB of physical memory installed and the kernel parameters are set to the following (/etc/system). I'm not an Oracle guy so I'm not sure where to start looking but any informaiton is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. There are two databases running on this server, one is a production database and the other is a pre-production database.   • MovieClip progress bar width is too small relative to parent container

    I am new to ActionScripot and Flash and I am stuck with the following problem: On the stage I have a movieclip (Container, originally 200px width) and inside it with a progressbar movieclip (originally 700px width), scaled with Free Transform Tool to fit the parent container. The width of the container changes run-time while resizing the scene. In ActionScript I have a function which should set the progress bar width according to a calculated percentage value: private function updateProgress(event:TimerEvent):void { var barWidth:int = _container.width; var progress:Number = _stream.time / _stream.duration * barWidth; _progressBar.width = progress; } My problem is that the progressBar even at full time (100%) is only at 1/4 of the parent container. I assume that it comes from the symbols original size. Can I correct this programatically, or I must redesign it with the "designer"? I hope I made clear my problem, as I said, I'm new in Flash.   • Selecting favourites from DB rails 3

    I have a small app which has Users, Recipes, Ingredients and preparation models A user has many recipes, recipes belong to user and ingredients/preparation belongs to recipes. Now a user can view all recipes but I would like the option to add the particular recipe to a favourites list. Would I need to set a new DB to hold this and then link by associations or could I add a column to the recipe model called fav for example? Im looking for the best practice here or if someone has done this before and can offer any advice that would be appreciated

  • Firefox isn't using my download manager (flash videos)

    I installed "Free Download Manager." I see the plugin in Tools-Add-ons (it doesn't have any options). I use several different flash video downloaders, because I haven't found one that works period on any site. When I save the video with two I tried, they are being downloaded by Firefox's default download manager (which means simultaneously - which is why I installed the download manager - I need them to download one at a time - in a prioritized queue.) [I used to use Flashgot (long ago), and it worked with some download manager I had installed - but over time it failed to see most videos. I installed Flashgot again, and it still fails to see anything but images and video ads.] Currently, I have to manually start Free Download Manager (from outside of Firefox), start the download in Firefox, stop it, copy the link location from Firefox's download menu, and then add it manually in Free Download Manager. Yuck. Do I need a different download manager (that takes over - recommendations?), or did I somehow install this one wrong or miss a setting somewhere in Firefox? Thanks for any help.

  • Running Flash on a headless Solaris box

    Our build server is a Solaris box, and I'm trying to run a suite of FlexUnit tests as part of the automated build process. This works by compiling a swf movie with a suite of automated unit tests. The build script launches this movie, which automatically begins running the tests. Results of each test are sent back to the launching script across a port, and written out to a local xml file. Once the tests are completed, the movie closes down, and the build script interrogates the results to see if all the tests passed. The FlexUnit wiki provides information about how to to acheive this on a Unix server, by using Xvnc to provide a virtual space for the flash movie to run its tests in. I've provided this information through to our sys admin team, (along with the link to the article), and I've been told that because this is a Solaris box, we can't use that approach - Xvnc isn't supported on Solaris. Unfortunately, I know very little about servers, *nix vs Solaris, or Xvnc. Can someone please provide some advice about how we can achieve the same outcome on a Solaris box?

  • Is my "Generic" USB Flash Drive broken?

    So here is the situation. I find myself technological knowledgeable about many things ( I love to code, whether it's websites, C#, C++ or so on). However: My 2 toddlers (my wife actually) bought me a "Generic" 128 GB USB Storage Device (Usb Flash Drive) for Father's Day. I thought awesome at first..... WRONG! Nothing but problems with it. 3-4mb/s MAX transfer speed. I can bear with it. BUT! When I went to reformat my computer I transferred my save files from my games over to the stick and then the USB Stick managed to become corrupted. Not just a simple format would work either. It's screwed. I tried to use (Manually changed usb drive letter troubleshooting it to X) "chmod X: /X /F /R" with administrator rights, I did this after a long session to make it work with no errors (had to delete the log) and I finally recovered the files, however when I go to use it (transfer to or from) it transfers a couple kb to the stick or from it and then freezes, It says (Windows 7): Name: From: Folder (X:\File\Location) To: Folder C:\Users\Username\Desktop) Items Remaining: 0 (0 bytes) Speed: 0 bytes/second It does this forever... and ever... and ever... It transfered 3 files atleast, and then stopped. This is a new USB Stick bought from a "High" reputation company on eBay. Is the USB Stick screwed?
