  • RegLoadAppKey working fine on 32-bit OS, failing on 64-bit OS, even if both processes are 32-bit

    I'm using .NET 4 and the new RegistryKey.FromHandle call so I can take the hKey I get from opening a registry file with RegLoadAppKey and operate on it with the existing managed API. I thought at first it was just a matter of a busted DllImport and my call had an invalid type in the params or a missing MarshalAs or whatever, but looking at other registry functions and their DllImport declarations (for instance, on pinvoke.net), I don't see what else to try (I've had hKey returned as both int and IntPtr, both worked on 32-bit OS and fail on 64-bit OS) I've got it down to as simple a repro case as I can - it just tries to create a 'random' subkey then write a value to it. It works fine on my Win7 x86 box and fails on Win7 x64 and 2008 R2 x64, even when it's still a 32-bit process, even run from a 32-bit cmd prompt.   • Building a VS2010 solution from TFS2008

    I have a TFS 2008 Build Agent that has been used to build .Net 3.5 applications. I now have a .Net 4.0 app which i want to compile on the same build agent. I have ensured that MSBuild 4.0 is installed on there and all the required componentry is also installed, but i am getting the following MSB4062 error when building: [Any CPU/Release] C:\Program Files\MSBuild\Microsoft\VisualStudio\v10.0\WebApplications\Microsoft.WebApplication.targets(244,5): error MSB4062: The "Microsoft.WebApplication.Build.Tasks.GetSilverlightItemsFromProperty" task could not be loaded from the assembly C:\Program Files\MSBuild\Microsoft\VisualStudio\v10.0\WebApplications\Microsoft.WebApplication.Build.Tasks.dll. Could not load file or assembly 'file:///C:\Program Files\MSBuild\Microsoft\VisualStudio\v10.0\WebApplications\Microsoft.WebApplication.Build.Tasks.dll' or one of its dependencies. This assembly is built by a runtime newer than the currently loaded runtime and cannot be loaded. Confirm that the declaration is correct, and that the assembly and all its dependencies are available. I am presuming that i get this because the TFSBuild.proj gets executed by MSBuild 3.5 which in turn means my solution is compiled with MSBuild 3.5. Am i correct with my diagnosis? Is there any way to ensure that TFS2008 uses MSBuild 4.0 for my solution? Can it be done on a single team project so that it doesn't affect any other team projects being built on the same build agent?     I have taken backup of SQL Server 2008 DB on server, and download them to local environment. I am trying to restore that database and it is keep on giving me following error. An exception occurred while executing a Transact-SQL statement or batch. (Microsoft.SqlServer.ConnectionInfo) ------------------------------ ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: The media family on device 'C:\go4sharepoint_1384_8481.bak' is incorrectly formed. SQL Server cannot process this media family. RESTORE HEADERONLY is terminating abnormally. (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 3241) For help, click: http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink?ProdName=Microsoft+SQL+Server&ProdVer=09.00.4053&EvtSrc=MSSQLServer&EvtID=3241&LinkId=20476 I have tried to create a temp DB on server and tried to restore the same backup file and that works. I have also tried no. of times downloading file from server to local pc using different options on Filezila (Auto, Binary) But its not working. BACKUP DATABASE go4sharepoint_1384_8481 TO DISK=' C:\HostingSpaces\dbname_jun14_2010_new.bak' with FORMAT And it is giving me following error. Msg 3201, Level 16, State 1, Line 1 Cannot open backup device 'c:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL10.SQLEXPRESS\MSSQL\Backup\ C:\HostingSpaces\dbname_jun14_2010_new.bak'.     I have taken backup of SQL Server 2008 DB on server, and download them to local environment. I am trying to restore that database and it is keep on giving me following error. An exception occurred while executing a Transact-SQL statement or batch. (Microsoft.SqlServer.ConnectionInfo) ------------------------------ ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: The media family on device 'C:\go4sharepoint_1384_8481.bak' is incorrectly formed. SQL Server cannot process this media family. RESTORE HEADERONLY is terminating abnormally. (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 3241) For help, click: http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink?ProdName=Microsoft+SQL+Server&ProdVer=09.00.4053&EvtSrc=MSSQLServer&EvtID=3241&LinkId=20476 I have tried to create a temp DB on server and tried to restore the same backup file and that works. I have also tried no. of times downloading file from server to local pc using different options on Filezila (Auto, Binary) But its not working. After that I tried to execute following command on server. BACKUP DATABASE go4sharepoint_1384_8481 TO DISK=' C:\HostingSpaces\dbname_jun14_2010_new.bak' with FORMAT It is giving me following error: Msg 3201, Level 16, State 1, Line 1 Cannot open backup device 'c:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL10.SQLEXPRESS\MSSQL\Backup\ C:\HostingSpaces\dbname_jun14_2010_new.bak'. Operating system error 123(The filename, directory name, or volume label syntax is incorrect.). Msg 3013, Level 16, State 1, Line 1 BACKUP DATABASE is terminating abnormally.     Hello StackOverflow! We deploy our application using ClickOnce, installed from a file path. For 24 versions it has been working perfectly - now, on version 25 I get the following error once the application has installed and it launches: If I test a previous deployment on the same machine, it works. Where can I even begin to look to find the cause of this error? I already checked the windows event logs - nothing. EDIT: I noticed that while the dialog is displayed, a temporary xml file 'WER561D.tmp.WERInternalMetadata.xml' is generated in my temp folder.     I have a WPF application which runs as a excel plugin, it has its visual tree like so Excel ElementHost WPF UserControl WPF ribbon bar control Now any controls sitting on the WPF ribbon bar control are not enabled when the plugin is loaded within excel. See error below System.Windows.Data Error: 4 : Cannot find source for binding with reference 'RelativeSource FindAncestor, AncestorType='System.Windows.Window', AncestorLevel='1''. BindingExpression:Path=IsActive; DataItem=null; target element is 'Ribbon' (Name=''); target property is 'NoTarget' (type 'Object') If I nest the ribbon bar control in a standalone Window(outside excel) it works fine. Is there a way to intercept the FindAncestor call for a Window and wire it to something else.? Note that I cannot change the above binding as it isn't my control.

    I have a Windows Server 2008 R2 new clean install , not a VM, that I have added to a Windows Server 2003 based domain using my account which has domain admin rights. The domain functional level is 2003. I performed a clean install of SQL Server 2008 R2 using my account which has domain admin rights. The installation completed without any errors. I logged into SSMS locally and attempted to add another domain account by clicking Search, Advanced and finding the user in the domain. When I return to the "Dialog - New" window and click OK I receive the following error: Create failed for Login 'Domain\User'. (Microsoft.SqlServer.Smo) An exception occurred while executing a Transact-SQL statement or batch. (Microsoft.SqlServer.ConnectionInfo) Windows NT user or group 'Domain\User' not found. Check the name again. (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 15401) I have verified that the firewall is off, tried adding a different domain user, tried using SA to add a user, installed the hotfix for KB 976494 and verified that the Local Security Policy for Domain Member: Digitally encrypt or sign secure channel Domain Member: Digitally encrypt secure channel Domain Member: Digitally sign secure channel are disabled none of which have made a difference. I can RDP to a Server 2003 server running SQL 2008 and add the same domain user without issue. Also if I try to connect with SSMS to the sql server from another system on the domain using my account I get the following error: Login failed. The login is from an untrusted domain and cannot be used with Windows authentication. (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 18452) and on the database server I see the following in the security event log: An account failed to log on. Subject: Security ID: NULL SID Account Name: - Account Domain: - Logon ID: 0x0 Logon Type: 3 Account For Which Logon Failed: Security ID: NULL SID Account Name: myUserName Account Domain: MYDOMAIN Failure Information: Failure Reason: An Error occured during Logon.     I have a half dozen sites on my server and I would like to get some info from IIS7 to display in the footer of each page (as long as you are an admin of course). I am going through the ServerObject and found Sites but am not finding anything obvious for "this site". What should I do to get at the information for the exact site in IIS7 that the page is running on?   • Displaytag table exported header column contains span tags

    Hi, When I export the content of the display tag table I use the data shows up fine, but the header cells are surrounded by html span tags, which is slightly annoying. I can imagine why Displaytag uses spans around the column header's text, but it shouldn't transpose in the exported data I think.     While bug fixing I tracked a problem to an old vc6 compiled dll that hasn't been touched in nearly 3 years. After checking out the most recent source I am getting the following error when trying to compile. Processing C:\PROGRAM FILES\MICROSOFT SDK\INCLUDE\msxml.idl msxml.idl .\ocidl.idl(1524) : error MIDL2003 : redefinition : IErrorLog .\ocidl.idl(1541) : error MIDL2003 : redefinition : IPropertyBag Google gives lots of suggestions regarding Visual Studio 2002 - 2003 errors but I can't find anything that relates to Visual Studio 6 or can be applied to my problem. I did find this page but following it's advice didn't fix my problem. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this? (I am presuming that it did work once.) Other items of interest: I have the February 2003 Platform SDK installed, and looking at the add/remove program page I have Micrsoft XML Parser and SDK, MSXML 4.0 SP2 and MSXML 6.0 Parser too.
