  • How do you access URL text following the # sign through Java?

    Using Java (.jsp or whatever) is there a way where I can send a request for this page: http://www.mystore.com/store/shelf.jsp?category=mens#page=2 and have the Java code parse the URL and see the #page=2 and respond accordingly? Basically, I'm looking for the Java code that allows me to access the characters following the hash tag. The reason I'm doing this is that I want to load subsequent pages via AJAX (on my shelf) and then allow the user to copy and paste the URL and send it to a friend. Without the ability of Java being able to read the characters following the hash tag I'm uncertain as to how I would manipulate the URL with Javascript in a way that the server would be able to also read without causing the page to re-load. I'm having trouble even figuring out how to access/see the entire URL (http://www.mystore.com/store/shelf.jsp?category=mens#page=2) from within my Java code...

    I have deployed one web project into Azure emulator. And I get this error saying that Could not load file or assembly Base. The thing is that this web project, got dependencies to another project in the same solution. I have added that dependency into the reference list of my web project. And if I run this web application without using the azure emulator it will run fine. But I will get error when I try to run it on the azure emulator. At first glance I thought that I maybe need to add the other project as role also. But it couldn't be that. Anyone know what the problem might be? I hope I got enough data for you to look into.     I have a client who wants his custom-written CRM to be able to access his sales people's emails so that, effectively, a history of email conversations between customer and salesperson is stored inside the CRM's database. The CRM is written in VB 2008 and the database is SQL Server 2008. The only email these people use, in the shop and on the road, is GMAIL. Each sales person has their own GMAIL address. Thats how they operate. If they're on the road and respond to a customer's email inquiry about a product, they would like that email conversation to be stored in a table in the database. I think thats the part I cant wrap my head around. How to get access to the email data (knowing the user id and password) and doing so from VB 2008

  • How do you access config outside of a request in CherryPy?

    I've got a webapp running on CherryPy that needs to access the CherryPy config files before a user creates a request. The docs say to use: host = cherrypy.request.app.config['database']['host'] But that won't work outside of a user request. You can also use the application object when you start the app like so: ... application = cherrypy.tree.mount(root, '/', app_conf) host = application.config['database']['host'] ... But I can see no way of accessing 'application' from other classes outside of a user request. I ask because our app looks at several databases and we set them up when the app starts rather than on user request. I have a feeling this would be useful in other places too; so is there any way to store a reference to 'application' somewhere or access it through the CherryPy API?

  • Is MS Reporting Services suitable for stand-alone reports?

    Hello all: I work for a ISV. Our product can use both SQL Server and Oracle as its back-end server. It includes a number of reports (currently in Crystal). We are investigating moving to Micrsoft Reporting Services, but I'm beginning to think that it's a bad idea. We want for our reports to look and feel as though they are a part of our application, and we will not require SQL Server (the customer can choose Oracle). Although I see the reporting services supports a stand-alone mode (RDLC), the boundry between what requires SQL server and what doesn't looks extremely ambiguous. (example, the stand-alone report builder appears to require SQL Server, most of the documentation appears to be part of SQL Server's documentation) It looks to me like if I want to keep my application DB-agnostic, I had better steer clear of Reporting Services. Have I missed the boat here?

When using the grails MVC, everything is fine as I can use controller to access domain objects and call CRUD and other dynamic methods on them. But, what I am wondering is is there a clean way to do it from Java - say the service layer. For example, I may want to develop a reporting framework where I need to use domain objects to access the DB. I Hope the question is clear. This should be a standard problem that everybody must have faced in a reasonably sized project. I am just wondering how it is solved..maybe I am missing something here. thanks.

    Hello there, I am pretty stumped at the moment. Based on http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1045628/can-i-use-win32-com-to-replace-text-inside-a-word-document I was able to code a simple template system that generates word docs out of a template word doc (in Python). My problem is that text in "Text Fields" is not find that way. Even in Word itself there is no option to search everything - you actually have to choose between "Main Document" and "Text Fields".   • Is there an easy way to setup the android emulator to access the LAN of the host machine ?

    I would like to access a web service provided by one of the machines on my LAN from the android emulator. If the service was running on the same machine where the emulator is running (called host), I could add a network redirection and access the 10.0.2.2 (host loopback interface in the emulator) with the correct port. However it is running on another machine on the LAN. I guess I could add another redirection on the host additionally to the above one (would have to fight with iptables though ... ), but does a more simple solution exist ?

    I'm getting a 401 (access denied) calling a method on an internal web service. I'm calling it from an ASP.NET page on our company intranet. I've checked all the configuration and it should be using integrated security with an account that has access to that service, but I'm trying to figure out how to confirm which account it's connecting under. Unfortunately I can't debug the code on the production network. In our dev environment everything is working fine. I know there has to be a difference in the settings, but I'm at a loss with where to start. Any recommendations?

Inside I can access global variables, but I don't really want to create global vars for these values. Basically I want to extract file names from an xml document in the simulationFiles variable. I check if the node attribute is equal with the simName and extract the two strings inside the xml elements, that part I think it's working.     I'm working on a Grails web app that would be similar in access patterns to StackOverflow or MyLifeIsAverage - users can vote on entries, and their votes are used to sort a list of entries based on the number of votes. Votes can be placed while the sorted select queries are being performed. Since the selects would lock a large portion of the table, it seems that normal transaction locking would cause updates to take forever (given enough traffic). Has anyone worked on an app with a data access pattern such as this, and if so, did you find a way to allow these updates and selects to happen more or less concurrently? Does anyone know how sites like SO approach this? My thought was to make the sorted selects dirty reads, since it is acceptable if they're not completely up to date all of the time. This is my only idea for possibly improving performance of these selects and updates, but I thought someone might know a better way.

  • MS Excel automation without macros in the generated reports. Any thoughts?

    Hello! I know that the web is full of questions like this one, but I still haven't been able to apply the answers I can find to my situation. I realize there is VBA, but I always disliked having the program/macro living inside the Excel file, with the resulting bloat, security warnings, etc. I'm thinking along the lines of a VBScript that works on a set of Excel files while leaving them macro-free. Now, I've been able to "paint the first column blue" for all files in a directory following this approach, but I need to do more complex operations (charts, pivot tables, etc.), which would be much harder (impossible?) with VBScript than with VBA. For this specific example knowing how to remove all macros from all files after processing would be enough, but all suggestions are welcome. Any good references? Any advice on how to best approach external batch processing of Excel files will be appreciated. Thanks! PS: I eagerly tried Mark Hammond's great PyWin32 package, but the lack of documentation and interpreter feedback discouraged me.

At first i add a new user through default sign up page (E.g./users/sign_up) Then, i made "sign_up" page only available to signed_in users by following instructions from Devise before filter that prevents access to "new_user_registration_path" unless user is signed-in Now, after sign in process when i try open sign up page it always directs me to root_path! How can i access sign up page?     IE displays a default scrollbar on the page, which appears even if the content is too short to require a scrollbar. The typical way to remove this scrollbar (if not needed), is to add this to your css: HTML { height: 100%; overflow: auto; } I'm trying to do the same thing in javascript (without requiring that in my CSS), but i can't seem to find a way to get access to the html element. I know i can access the body element with document.body, but that doesn't seem to be sufficient, i need the wrapping html element. Any tips?

    Hello, So i am writing a little app that compares a user's position against a database on web-based server written using Django and performs some functions with it. Accessing the browser's geolocation data (in supported browsers ) is fairly trivial using JavaScript. But what is the best way to allow the Django server to access the longitude and latitude variables? Is it best to wrap them up as a JSON object and send to the server via POST? Or is there some easier (Geo)Django-based way to access the Navigator.geolocation browser object. Please forgive a newbie a question like this, but my Google-Fuing only seems to find ways to insert variables into JavaScript via template tag, whereas I need it to work the other way! Any advice or code snippets greatly appreciated. Feel free to talk to me like I am an idiot.
