• How can I call an executable to run on a separate machine within a program on my own machine (win xp

  My objective is to write a program which will call another executable on a separate computer(all with win xp) with parameters determined at run-time, then repeat for several more computers, and then collect the results. In short, I'm working on a grid-computing project. The algorithm itself being used is already coded in FORTRAN, but we are looking for an efficient way to run it on many computers at once. I suppose one way to accomplish this would be to upload a script to each computer and then run said script on each computer, all automatically and dependent on my own parameters. But how can I write a program which will write to, upload, and run a script on a separate computer? I had considered GridGain, but the algorithm is already coded and in a different language, so that is ruled out. My current guess at accomplishing this task is using Expect (wiki/Expect), but I have no knowledge of the tool. Any advice appreciated.

  I am trying to get/return multiple values from an SQL-Server database using and display them on an ASP.NET page. I am using a stored procedure to perform the SELECT command on the Database side. I am able to return the first value that matches the variable @PERSON but only one row is returned each time. Any help would be much appreciated. When user searches for a search term with multiple words like "different fonts". Please note that the search term is treated as a single string as if the words are in a quote, so I cannot search and highlight each word individually.

  As I was looking through SO I came across a question about handling multiple message types. My concern is - how do I load such a message in a neat way? I decided to have a separate class with a method which loads one message each time it's invoked. This method should create a new instance of a concrete message type (say AlphaMessage, BetaMessage, GammaMessage, etc.) and return it as a Message. class MessageLoader { public Message Load() { // ... } } The code inside the method is something which looks really awful to me and I would very much like to refactor it/get rid of it: Message msg = Message.Load(...); // load yourself from whatever source if (msg.Type == MessageType.Alpha) return new AlphaMessage(msg); if (msg.Type == MessageType.Beta) return new BetaMessage(msg); // ...   Can some one tell me if it is possible to submit two different iphone applications which has same Icon.png but have a different bundle name? I am working on a travel guide app that is targeted for different cities. I want the users of different cities to download the app as per their cities. So I want to submit different apps for different cities(3 in my case). User can also purchase any of these cities through in-app purchase. In that case the new purchased city would be unlocked in the app. Here is my thing. I want the same icon for all the three apps. I can do away with different names for app store and bundle(home screen icon name). But I am not sure if apple would approve/reject this app. Can someone enhance this blur picture I have?

  I'm trying to compile a program in C on OS X 10.9 with GCC 4.9 (experimental). For some reason, I'm getting the following error at compile time: gcc: fatal error: stdio.h: No such file or directory I then tried a simple Hello World program: #include <stdio.h> int main(int *argc, const char *argv[]) { printf("Hello, world!"); return 0; } Again, upon running gcc -o ~/hello ~/hello.c, I got the same error. I'm using an experimental version of gcc, but it seems implausible that there would be a release which generated errors upon importing stdio. What could be causing this issue, and how can it be fixed?

• Most Efficient way to deal with multiple CCSprites?

  I have four different types of objects within my environment(box2d), each type of object having multiple instances of itself, and would like to find the most efficient way to deal with adding and manipulating all the CCSprites. The sprites are all from different files, so would it be best to create each sprite and add it to a data structure (NSMutableArray) or would I use a CCSpriteBatchNode even though each CCSprite file is different (for each type of object)? • Supporting rotation sensors in Symbian across multiple devices in one executable

  I'm puzzling my head as to how some application appear to support the couple of Rotational Sensor APIs for Symbian, specifically the Sensor API and the Sensor Framework (both the 5th ed. and the 3rd ed. FP2 backport). For example, I believe that Gravity will support rotation in N95 and also newer models from the same binary (could be wrong there...). If I use the Sensor Framework then my app will not install on an N95 (it gives me a System Error -1), whereas if I use the Sensor API (RRSensor) then it will only install on an N95 and no other phones. This is most likely due to the available libraries on those devices. I am trying to find some way of abstracting things such that I can use exactly the same binary for all devices. The only alternative I can see is trying to use ECOM plugins and then installing the relevant library using conditionals in my PKG file. Does anyone know of a better/easier way?

  I have a near real-time application that I am using Qt and an SQLite database to run. I am curious if it is safe to have two separate models access a database at once. I know 2 separate views can access a model just fine, but I can't find any document addressing this. I also realize that SQLite is thread safe for reading, so I don't see a real issue to doing this from the SQLite part of things... Basically I want to use a QSqlTableModel to do the real-time read and write in the background and at the same time use a QSqlQueryModel to give the user desired data. Since I may be doing lots of filtering in the background using the table model I can't use it as the main view as well. I have gotten this to work for the most part, but am not sure if this is the best way to do this. If the models act like multiple SQL queries I don't believe this should be an issue, but I would like to know from someone I bit more knowledgeable about this stuff since this is pretty new to me. • File not found error on User control on production

  I made 2 usercontrols for sharepoint 2007 site. Everything is working fine on test server. I deployed it on production but only 1 got deployed and placed properly. The second user control is added n deployed to web part galleries but gives File not found error when i add it on web part page. I deployed it using WSP. yet it gives this error. I checked logs it did not show anything. I have no idea what to do. please help.   Hello there, Im having trouble with some Java, How do I give in default parameter values in java?. for example I have this in c++ DVD(int i, string t, int y, string d="Unknown"): Items(i,t,y),director(d){} and in Java I tried public Dvd(int i, String t,int y, String d="Unknown"){ super(i,t,y); director = d; } which fails to build. So how do I go about giving in default values? also In my main testing class I tried giving in 3 arguments insead of 4 but this fails also. How do I get around this problem?.

• How much more productive is an extra monitor?

  I am mulling over whether to buy a new monitor, to go along side my current setup of two 24 (ish) inch monitors. What I want to know is whether this is worth the money (probably around £200)? I think most of us will agree that two monitors is much more productive than one when programming and developing (Jeff Atwood has said this many times on his blog, and I imagine that most of you are fans of his), but is three much more productive than two? What I'm worried about is that I will have so much space that one monitor will be used for things that are not related to the task (music, facebook etc.) and it will actually make me less productive.

• Database (MySQL) structuring: pros and cons of multiple tables

  I am collecting data and storing it MySQL, for: 75 variables 55 countries Each year I have, at this stage since I am building this tool created a single table, of variables / countries (storing 1 year worth of data). Next year (and for several years after that) a new set of data will be input for each country. There are therefore 3 variables in controlling data returned to a user reviewing all collected data. The general form of any query would be: Show me these specifics variables, for these specific countries, for these specific years. (Show me average age and weight, for USA and Canada, for 2012 and 2009, for example) My question is, it seems that I have two options for arranging this data: -Multiple tables where I create a table of country / variable for each year data is collected - Single table and simply add a column (field) for the year that data relates to. As far as I can tell I could make these database calls with either sructure, but is one more powerful / efficient / quicker, and why? Thanks for your consideration. It's a PDO / PHP interface if that is relevent.

  I am attempting to write a query that returns the the number of employees, the average salary, and the number of employees paid below the average. The query I have so far is: select trunc(avg(salary)) "Average Pay", count(salary) "Total Employees", ( select count(salary) from employees where salary < (select avg(salary) from employees) ) UnderPaid from employees; But when I run this I get the ora-00937 error in the subquery. I had thought that maybe the "count" function is what is causing the issue, but even running a simpler sub query such as: select trunc(avg(salary)) "Average Pay", count(salary) "Total Employees", ( select avg(salary) from employees ) UnderPaid from employees; still returns the same error. As both AVG and COUNT seem to be aggregate functions, I'm not sure why I'm getting the error? Thanks

  I'm going to create a website using Wordpress static pages feature. It's going to have a menu for all the created pages. A blog is going to be created as well. This blog has a completely different layout/menu from the main site, but within the same domain: "http://www.domain.com" is the website url, and "http://www.domain.com/blog/" is the blog url. I was thinking of installing two different Wordpress instances: /var/www/public_html/ and /var/www/public_html/blog/. Although it's a simple solution, users are going to be duplicated: if you change password in one system, you need to change in the other. So, I would like to know from you which other approaches are possible: create a "dynamic" theme (call a theme when in root domain, another whern /blog - dont even know if this is possible), or for example a plugin to syncronize users from both instances? Does Wordpress MU solve this problem for me? Thanks!

  Hi, i need some help with inserting multiple rows from different arrays into my database. I am making the database for a seating plan, for each seating block there is 5 rows (A-E) with each row having 15 seats. my DB rows are seat_id, seat_block, seat_row, seat_number, therefore i need to add 15 seat_numbers for each seat_row and 5 seat_rows for each seat_block. I mocked it up with some foreach loops but need some help turning it into an (hopefully single) SQL statement. $blocks = array("A","B","C","D"); $seat_rows = array("A","B","C","D","E"); $seat_nums = array("1","2","3","4","5","6","7","8","9","10","11","12","13","14","15"); foreach($blocks as $block){ echo "<br><br>"; echo "Block: " . $block . What I want to do is prevent the decrease in size, as I'm drawing on a canvas on the second monitor, and when the resize occurs, this is all lost.. Any thoughts on how I can prevent this? Cheers!

As I've searched for an answer, I find that none of the solutions people say have rid them of this error have worked for me.
