  • Exchange 2010 Deployment Notes - ISA 2004 Server Issue

    An interesting ISA 2004 tidbit … While we were setting up our Exchange 2010 ActiveSync environment, we encountered a problem where we could not successfully telnet over port 443 from one of our ISA 2004 Servers to our Exchange 2010 Client Access Server Array. When we tried to telnet over port 443 from the ISA Server to the Client Access Server Array name, we would get a “Could not open connection to the host on port 443: Connect failed” error message. Also, when we used portqry over port 443 from the ISA Server to the Client Access Server Array name, we would get a “Error opening socket: 10065” and “No route to host” error messages. It was odd because we did not have any problems with using ping or tracert from the ISA Server to the Client Access Server Array and our firewall firewall policy was allowing 443 traffic to pass through. After some troubleshooting, we were able to telnet and use portqry over port 443 successfully if we stopped the Microsoft Firewall service on the ISA 2004 Server.  So, it was strictly a problem with ISA.  Eventually, we were able to isolate the problem to a ISA 2004 Server System Policy setting as shown below (to modify the System Policy, right-click Firewall Policy and click Edit System Policy). Under the Diagnostics Services – HTTP Connectivity verifiers Configuration Group, you need to enable the configuration group under the General tab to resolve the problem.  After we enabled the setting, we no longer had a problem.

  • Static IP configuration causing apt-get errors

    I am getting errors when running apt-get update or when installing new packages. Although this only happens when the server configured for a static IP address. Changing the configuration back to DHCP and restarting networking fixes the problem, although I want a static IP. Once it is working I can change back to my static IP address and restart networking. Although this only works until I restart the server (restarting the router is ok), and then I start getting the same errors and have to switch back to DHCP. Any ideas on what could be causing this or tips on troubleshooting it?     Hi to all I develop web crawling service (windows service / multi-thread) . its work fine, but sometimes my server network not response. and i can't ping server IP (from internet), but can ping by other network card (local ip) that not access to internet. after i open server with remote desktop and stop crawling service. i could ping. What's my problem? Bandwidth limit or max connection limit exceed or ??? how to prevent this issue? Note: when this problem occur, i open browser for browse web site, but can't open any website!!!     I'm currently a network engineer, but find myself wanting to get into the world of development. I took a little bit of Java in college, am 27 years old and have been network engineering for 4 years now. I have a mortgage and student loans so going back to school would be difficult. I'm willing to put in however much hardwork is needed around my full time job to learn, but part of me feels I may need actuall schooling to get down some of the advanced concepts. Just looking for a little advice and direction. I have purchased a bunch of the Head First programming books and have begun reading through some of them as I figure out my way into this transition.

  • Ubuntu unstable, showing awkward behavior

    Let me start off by saying that this problem can't be described in such a way that allows me to find other topics, which have some relevance to this problem. That's why I created this question. In case this question might have been asked before, I apologize. So what is the problem: My computer (Intel Core I5 2500K - with HD3000 graphics -, 6 gb DDR, 1 SSD, 3 HDD's and an Asus P8Z68 mobo) runs Windows on the SDD. But I decided to give Ubuntu a chance to be my daily OS for basic needs since it's open source and I find it a handicap of not being able to work with it. I decided to run the windows installer and install Ubuntu 12.04 to my 320 Gb hdd which was not being used in my computer. After installing it and booting it, it worked great! I spent the rest of the day/night using it, and falling for it. Great, today I booted Ubuntu (I had the choice in the bootloader as I expected). It asked me for my login and it started logging in. Now, after a few (literally) minutes of letting it "boot" I tried determining the cause of this. What I've figured out so far: When I left click on my desktop it freezes completely for a few seconds I have something like tearing in the left side menu (in games, you know) when I move my mouse around It runs well when just hovering around with my mouse, but from the point I click on something it freezes. What have I tried? I ran a HD Tune diagnostic on the HDD but the performance seems to be very close to the stock values, so I'm taking it as a good HDD. I'm trying to get to the drivers update panel for Ubuntu, but with the state it's in, it's taking a lot of time.. Could anyone point me in a direction for troubleshooting this? I'm not really a noob at all, just when using Linux.. :) Thanks in advance! Christophe,

  • Setting up Windows Authentication In Reporting Services Using Kerberos

    Hi, I have yet another problem with Reporting services. Finally I was able to set the ball rolling, achieving success in configuring reporting services with a domain user account. Now I have a problem accessing the server from another machine (in the same domain) using Integrated Windows Authentication in IIS 6.0. I have never had problems with this on networks using NT Authentication, but this is the first time our network is set up to use Kerberos. Here are my IIS settings - Reports (Manager) & ReportServer Virtual directories under Default Website, Both these are configured to run with Integrated Windows Authentication..Anonymous access turned OFF. Reporting Services Windows Service runs under Network service account and Web Service under a domain user account. Note - If I turn on Basic Authentication, it works fine, exceeding all my expectations, but this is not something I want. Any help is appreciated. Thanks Vineet

    I have written two simple programs (tried it in C++ and C#). This is pseudo code: -------- Client --------------- for(int i = 0; i < 200.000; i++) { socket_send("ping") socket_receive(buff) } --------- Server ------------- while(1) { socket_receive(buff) socket_send("pong") } I tried it on Windows. Execution time of client is about 45 seconds. Can somebody explain me why this takes so long? I understand that if there were real network connection between client and server the time of one 'ping-pong' would be: generate_ping + send_via_network + generate_pong + send_via_network but here everything is done in 'local' mode. Is there any way to make this inter process ping-pong faster using network sockets (I'm not asking about shared memory for example :) )

  • SQL Server 2008 - cannot register default instance MSSQLSERVER

    Hello, I have installed SQL Server 2008 Developer on Windows 7 64 bit. In Management Studio I cannot register the default instance MSSQLSERVER, it cannot find it although the service is running. I get the message: Cannot connect to PHOENIX\MSSQLSERVER. A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. (provider: SQL Network Interfaces, error: 25 - Connection string is not valid) (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 87) However Management Studio does show the SQL Server 2005 Express instance (that was installed with VS 2008 Pro) which appeared as already registered. I an using Windows Authentication as I installed it in mixed mode. Any ideas would be appreciated, many thanks paul

    Hi, im very new to this. I've set up an account "SQLBOX" thats on the a network, but not connected to the domain. I have installed an instance of SQL Server 2008 and am trying to connect to it from another machine on the network but am getting "Cannot connect to "SQLBOX"". From the "SQLBOX" i can connect to sqlservers on the domain, but not vice-versa. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Sorry if the description isn't great.     Apache webserver setup added: AddType application/x-mpegURL .m3u8 AddType video/MP2T .ts to "httpd.conf" file. Movie file preparation I have 3 movie files (9mb - 25mb each). Used QuickTime to convert movies into iPhone format. Used mediafilesegmenter to convert .m4v into 10-second segments of .ts files, with an accompanying .m3u8 file. Placed these in a folder on webserver. iPhone App implementation Created UIWebView whose URL points to http://71.191.59.68/~yujean/stream.html Simulator accesses the site and streams the movie-files just fine. Question Will I still get rejected by apple for bandwidth issues over the 3G and/or Edge network? Do I need to somehow check which network the end-user is on first? And then provide a different movie accordingly? If so, how do I do that ...? Thank you in advance, Eugene

For the sake of simplicity, let's say my app is modeling a computer network (a fairly large corporate network with 10,000 nodes). I am trying to model my Node class as follows: class Node(db.Model): name = db.StringProperty() neighbors = db.SelfReferenceProperty() Let's suppose, for a minute, that I cannot use a ListProperty(). Based on my experiments to date, I can assign only a single entity to 'neighbors' - and I cannot use the "virtual" collection (node_set) to access the list of Node neighbors. So... my questions are: Does SelfReferenceProperty limit you to a single entity that you can reference? If I instead use a ListProperty, I believe I am limited to 5,000 keys, which I need to exceed.   • Diagnosing Bootstrap 3 Glyphicon Button Icons Not Showing

    I have a glyphicons in Bootstrap 3. They work very nicely here: latest Chrome latest Firefox latest Safari latest Explorer latest Android At one facility, the glyphicons don't show. The buttons come up blank. How do I troubleshoot? They are security sensitive there. I don't have systems or network access.. and am not in a position to request that. Troubleshooting with advanced tools isn't going to happen. Here's what I have access to: Internet Explorer 9 Behind a very secure firewall Sometimes, I think the glyphs not showing is the IE 9.. but my code should be addressing that. Sometimes, I think their firewall is blocking the CDN. Can I enter a URL into a browser to test if the CDN is there? Sometimes, I think my FB share and like buttons upset this facilty's firewall, and they tie the whole thing down. Any suggestions at how I begin to research this? Or maybe you have an outright idea for IE 9 and glyphs (though my code is very-very close to the demo's which work).

My problem is that once I installed my board in a local network and this board will acquire its IP address dynamically, it has to communicate with a client application running on one of the PC(other than DHCP server) in the network. To communicate with this new board the client application is required to know the IP address of the board. What is the way to know the IP address of the board?     Hi all, I am trying to write a praat script to do preprocessing on hundreds of speach samples. I need to extract speech features from each sample and feed these as imputs into a feed-forward neural network. I have already constructed the network using math-lab. However, learing to script in praat is proving to be quite a challenge given my time constraints. Some of my samples are 0.01 to 0.03 seconds in length, I was looking at standardising the duration for all samples using Pitch Synchronous OverLap-Add(PSOLA). However this will be very tedious if I were to do this for every sample. Is there any script that can read in all of my files and perform the operations in a batch mode? Any guidance will be surelly appreaciated. Regards.

  • How do I change pages registering as 404 to 200

    I have this problem. After relaunching my site: http://www.kgstiles.com, traffic dropped immensely(about 60%). After troubleshooting for a week and a half - losing thousands of dollars off of lost traffic in the process, I found that Google was getting a 404 error at the end of many of my 301 redirects(so it wouldn't index the new pages). Most of of the pages, though, would register in my browser. They registered as a 404 error in Google's index as well as a 404checker. So my first question is: could this be what's causing my loss of traffic? and second: how do I fix it? I'm desperate!   • How do I write my own desktop sharing application in java ?

    Hello I want write my own desktop sharing application in Java. The application should have some very default features: Capture screen; Allow a remote connected user to click / edit fields. I was thinking to use Java Robot class for mouse movements / key pressing. The problem is i don't know what screen capture strategy to use. Should I make sequentially screen captures (on the hosting computer) every second, and send those captures with UDP via network, so that the clients can intercept the data-grams ? Isn't this a little overkill for the network ? What other strategies are available ? (Except trying an already existing app). PS: If necessary I can even write native code using JNI (still that's the last thing I planning to do).

    I am in need of an application that can periodically transmit select rows from a PostgreSQL database across a network to a second PostgreSQL server. Typically these will be the most recent row added, pulled and transmitted every 10-30 seconds. The primary servers run in a MS Windows environment with a high-latency, and occasionally intermittent, network connection. Therefore, any application would have to be tolerant of this and ideally automatically reconnect / resend data that could not be transmitted. Due to the environment and the requirements, a full-blown replication package would be unnecessary. I appreciate any help anyone has with this problem.

    Hello @all following issue, I configure a DNS Zone "location.domain.tld" for my internal Network and it works well, but now I want to manage the domain.tld for my internal Network, but the domain.tld is managed by an external DNS Provider. In location.domain.tld there are all Clients and Servers for internal use only (with local IPs) all these clients resolve the global Mailserver (for example) over his external Address but now i want to catch single Domainnames and resolve it on my own way. But i did not find a way to solve this issue. Any Ideas? Regards Rene

  • Can only access asp.net app on localhost

    I'm trying to get an asp.net application up on IIS on a Windows Server 2008 machine. I can hit the app from localhost, no problem. But I can't access the app using the server's domain name either locally or from another machine on the network. But here's the odd part. I can access a normal file on IIS using the domain name, both from a browser running on the server and from a browser running on another machine on the network. Here's a synopsis ("http" converted to "htp" below because I don't have enough points to have all these links in my message): From IE on the server itself: works htp://localhost/foo.htm works htp://localhost/App works htp://test.foo.com/foo.htm dead htp://test.foo.com/App From IE on another machine: works htp://test.foo.com/foo.htm dead htp://test.foo.com/App And when I say "dead" I mean the request times out. Any ideas?

  • Filemaker Pro 9 (Mac) : How do I get it to deal with absolute paths?

    I have an installation where FM Pro 9 clients open a solution from an FM Server 9. This solution then needs to access files on a network share from the clients. So far, the network share was mounted with AFP, but an infrastructure change required it to be switched to static NFS mounts. Their boot Volumes may have different names, but they all mount an NFS share at the same mount point in the "real" mount tree (starting from the UNIX root dir, /). According to http://www.filemaker.com/help/html/create_db.8.32.html#1030283 it looks like there is no way to just use a full path without having a volume name as if this was Mac OS classic - is there some way to work around this? Upgrading to a newer FileMaker is not a sought solution.

But how to set full access to my company server??
