• CodeGolf: Find the Unique Paths

  Here's a pretty simple idea, in this pastebin I've posted some pair of numbers. These represent Nodes of a directed graph. The input to stdin will be of the form, (they'll be numbers, i'll be using an example here) c d q r a b b c d e p q so x y means x is connected to y (not viceversa) There are 2 paths in that example. a->b->c->d->e and p->q->r. You need to print all the unique paths from that graph The output should be of the format a->b->c->d->e p->q->r Notes You can assume the numbers are chosen such that one path doesn't intersect the other (one node belongs to one path) The pairs are in random order. They are more than 1 paths, they can be of different lengths. All numbers are less than 1000. If you need more details, please leave a comment. I'll amend as required. • Wordpress display featured posts outside of loop

  Im new to WP and Im not real sure how to work with the loop. • Where can I find a list of 'Stop' words for Oracle fulltext search?

  I've a client testing the full text (example below) search on a new Oracle UCM site. The random text string they chose to test was 'test only'. Which failed; from my testing it seems 'only' is a reserved word, as it is never returned from a full text search (it is returned from metadata searches). I've spent the morning searching oracle.com and found this which seems pretty comprehensive, yet does not have 'only'. So my question is thus, is 'only' a reserved word. Where can I find a complete list of reserved words for Oracle full text search (10g)? Full text search string example; (<ftx>test only</ftx>) Update. I have done some more testing. Seems it ignores words that indicate places or times; only, some, until, when, while, where, there, here, near, that, who, about, this, them. Can anyone confirm this? I can't find this in on Oracle anywhere. Update 2. Post Answer I should have been looking for 'stop' words not 'reserved'. Updated the question title and tags to reflect.

• Finding a picture in a picture with java?

  what i want to to is analyse input from screen in form of pictures. I want to be able to identify a part of an image in a bigger image and get its coordinates within the bigger picture. Example: would have to be located in And the result would be the upper right corner of the picture in the big picture and the lower left of the part in the big picture. As you can see, the white part of the picture is irrelevant, what i basically need is just the green frame. Is there a library that can do something like this for me? Runtime is not really an issue. What i want to do with this is just generating a few random pixel coordinates and recognize the color in the big picture at that position, to recognize the green box fast later. And how would it decrease performance, if the white box in the middle is transparent? The question has been asked several times on SO as it seems without a single answer. I found i found a solution at http://werner.yellowcouch.org/Papers/subimg/index.html . Unfortunately its in C++ and i do not understand a thing. Would be nice to have a Java implementation on SO.

• Using FBML in a ruby sinatra app

  Hi, I'm building an application in ruby using the sinatra framework and am having trouble with rendering some fbml elements. I'm currently trying to render an fb:multi-friend-selector so the user can select which friends they want to invite. However, when I write the following in my code: <fb:fbml> <fb:request-form action="/inviteFriends" method="POST" invite="true" type="MY APP" content="Invite Friends" > <fb:multi-friend-selector showborder="false" actiontext="Invite your friends to use YOUR APP NAME."> </fb:request-form> </fb:fbml> Nothing renders with the text above. I've included the regular facebook xsds for the taglibs in my html tag and have tested fbml on the page using the following code: <fb:name useyou="false" uid="USER_ID" linked="false"/> This code works correctly and displays the user's name. I've tried a simple example like that on http://wiki.developers.facebook.com/index.php/Fb:random but again nothing is rendered in the browser. Do I need to include some special javascript or anything? I would greatly appreciate some help with this. Thanks in advance -gearoid.

• Android maps out of memory error

  Hi , sometimes when running a google maps program with an overlay image i will receive a bit map out of memory error. It always seems to be at a random point in the app. Im not sure how to solve this. Anyone have any ideas ? • Does the COM server have to call SysFreeString() for an [out] parameter?

  We have the following interface: [object, uuid("uuidhere"), dual ] interface IInterface : IDispatch { [id(1), propget] HRESULT CoolProperty( [out, retval] BSTR* result ); } Now there's a minor problem. On one hand the parameter is "out" and so any value can be passed as input, the parameter will become valid only upon the successful return. On the other hand, there's this MSDN article which is linked to from many pages that basically says (the last paragraph) that if any function is passed a BSTR* it must free the string before assigning a new string. That's horrifying. If that article is right it means that all the callers must surely pass valid BSTRs (maybe null BSTRs), otherwise BSTR passed can be leaked. If the caller passed a random value and the callee tries to call SysFreeString() it runs into undefined behavior, so the convention is critical. Then what's the point in the [out] attribute? What will be the difference between the [in, out] and [out] in this situation? Is that article right? Do I need to free the passed BSTR [out] parameter before assigning a new one?

• "Exclusive" DirectDraw palette isn't actually exclusive

  We're maintaining an old video game that uses a full-screen 256-color graphics mode with DirectDraw. The problem is, some applications running in the background sometimes try to change the system palette while the game is running, which results in corrupted graphics. We can (sometimes) detect when this happens by processing the WM_PALETTECHANGED message. A few update versions ago we added logging (just log the window title/class/process name), which helped users identify offending applications and close them. MSN Live Messenger was a common culprit. The problem got worse when we found out that Windows Vista (and 7) does it "by itself". The WM_PALETTECHANGED parameters point towards CSRSS and the desktop window. In Vista, a workaround that often worked was to open any folder (Computer, Documents, etc.) and leave it open while running the game. Sounds ridiculous, but it worked - in most cases. In Windows 7, not even this workaround worked any more. Users found that stopping some services (Windows Update and the indexing service) also resolved the problem on some configurations. Some time ago I just started trying random things in hope of finding a solution. I found that setting the GDI palette (using Create/SelectPalette) before setting the DirectDraw palette (using IDirectDrawPalette::SetEntries) would restore the palette after it became corrupted (WM_PALETTECHANGED handler). SetSystemPaletteUse and calling SetPalette on the primary surface helped some more. However, there is still perceivable flickering when an application tries to steal the palette, which is especially prominent during fades. Question: is there a way to get a "real" exclusive palette, which completely disallows other applications changing the Windows palette as long as our game retains focus?

• jQuery loading issues within wordpress

  I am having a couple problems trying to manually insert some jQuery features into a wordpress theme. I have a lightbox wordpress plugin that is jQuery based that is working fine. So if I manually load the jQuery script into wordpress the functions seem to work but instead of say a slide being hidden it is revealed when it should still be hidden. Or a pop up that should work is already being shown instead of hidden. • Django: Overriding the save() method: how do I call the delete() method of a child class

  The setup = I have this class, Transcript: class Transcript(models.Model): body = models.TextField('Body') doPagination = models.BooleanField('Paginate') numPages = models.PositiveIntegerField('Number of Pages') and this class, TranscriptPages(models.Model): class TranscriptPages(models.Model): transcript = models.ForeignKey(Transcript) order = models.PositiveIntegerField('Order') content = models.TextField('Page Content', null=True, blank=True) The Admin behavior I’m trying to create is to let a user populate Transcript.body with the entire contents of a long document and, if they set Transcript.doPagination = True and save the Transcript admin, I will automatically split the body into n Transcript pages. In the admin, TranscriptPages is a StackedInline of the Transcript Admin. To do this I’m overridding Transcript’s save method: def save(self): if self.doPagination: #do stuff super(Transcript, self).save() else: super(Transcript, self).save() The problem = When Transcript.doPagination is True, I want to manually delete all of the TranscriptPages that reference this Transcript so I can then create them again from scratch. So, I thought this would work: #do stuff TranscriptPages.objects.filter(transcript__id=self.id).delete() super(Transcript, self).save() but when I try I get this error: Exception Type: ValidationError Exception Value: [u'Select a valid choice. That choice is not one of the available choices.'] ... and this is the last thing in the stack trace before the exception is raised: .../django/forms/models.py in save_existing_objects pk_value = form.fields[pk_name].clean(raw_pk_value) Other attempts to fix: t = self.transcriptpages_set.all().delete() (where self = Transcript from the save() method) looping over t (above) and deleting each item individually making a post_save signal on TranscriptPages that calls the delete method Any ideas? How does the Admin do it? UPDATE: Every once in a while as I'm playing around with the code I can get a different error (below), but then it just goes away and I can't replicate it again... until the next random time. • Python - Why use anything other than uuid4() for unique strings?

  I see quit a few implementations of unique string generation for things like uploaded image names, session IDs, et al, and many of them employ the usage of hashes like SHA1, or others. I'm not questioning the legitimacy of using custom methods like this, but rather just the reason. If I want a unique string, I just say this: >>> import uuid >>> uuid.uuid4() 07033084-5cfd-4812-90a4-e4d24ffb6e3d And I'm done with it. I wasn't very trusting before I read up on uuid, so I did this: >>> import uuid >>> s = set() >>> for i in range(5000000): # That's 5 million! >>> s.add(uuid.uuid4()) ... ... >>> len(s) 5000000 Not one repeater (I didn't expect one considering the odds are like 1.108e+50, but it's comforting to see it in action). You could even half the odds by just making your string by combining 2 uuid4()s. So, with that said, why do people spend time on random() and other stuff for unique strings, etc? Is there an important security issue or other regarding uuid?

• widget within module in Yii

  I'm trying to create a widget within the module and then load that widget from 'outside' of the module. More particularly I'm using user module written by someone else. I don't want to have a separate page for displaying a login form, therefore I tried to make a CPortlet/widget (confusion) displaying the login form. Basically, I've moved the code from LoginController into that widget. Then I try to display the widget on some random page by <?php $this->widget('user.components.LoginForm'); ?> However, I get an error CWebApplication does not have a method named "encrypting". in UserIdentity class in this line: else if(Yii::app()->controller->module->encrypting($this->password)!==$user->password) This happens, because I'm basically trying to execute this code within context of the app and not the module. Thus the "Yii::app()-controller-module" trick doesn't really work as expected. What am I doing wrong:-\ Is there a better way to achieve this. I.e. display that login form in some other page, which is normally displayed by accessing login controller within user module (user/login) or is a widget the right way of doing it? Thanks.

As such I need to scan the collection of .py files ad return a list of which modules they import. As an example, if one of the files I import has the following lines: import os import sys, gtk I would like it to return: ["os", "sys", "gtk"] I played with modulefinder and wrote: from modulefinder import ModuleFinder finder = ModuleFinder() finder.run_script('testscript.py') print 'Loaded modules:' for name, mod in finder.modules.iteritems(): print '%s ' % name, but this returns more than just the modules used in the script. • Why doesn't this jQuery snippet work in IE8 like it does in Firefox or Chrome (Live Demo Included) ?

  I asked for help earlier on Stackoverflow involving highlighting spans with the same Class when a mouse hovers over any Span with that same Class. Here is a screenshot of it in IE8, with my mouse hovered over the " min) { min" section in the middle. As you can see, it highlighted the span that the mouse is hovering over perfectly fine. However, it has also highlighted some random spans above and below it that don't have the same class! Only the span's with the same Class as the one where the mouse is over should be highlighted green. In this screenshot, only that middle green section should be green. Here is a screenshot of it working properly in Firefox/Chrome with my mouse in the exact same position: This screenshot is correct as the span that the mouse is over (the green section) is the only one in this section that shares that class. Why is IE8 randomly green-highlighting spans when it shouldn't be (they don't share the same class) using my little jQuery snippet?   There's one thing I want to do with javascript, but don't know how. In a perfect world it would look like this: <p>My very cool page!</p> <script type="text/javascript"> document.write('<div>some content</div>'); </script> And this script would insert <div>some content</div> right before (or after, or instead of) script tag. But in the real world, document.write starts writing html anew, removing any static content in the page (<p> tag, in this case). This is simplified example, but should give you the idea. I know that I can statically put <div id="some_id"></div> before script tag and insert html in it from js, but I wanna be able to use multiple instances of this snippet without changing it (generating random id manually) each time. I'm ok to use jquery or any other existing library as well. Is there any way to achieve this? Thanks!

  I want to have a static Universal binary lib of Boost. (Preferable the latest stable version, that is 1.43.0, or newer.) I found many Google hits with similar problems and possible solutions. However, most of them seems outdated. Also none of them really worked. • Foosball result prediction

  In our office, we regularly enjoy some rounds of foosball / table football after work. I have put together a small java program that generates random 2vs2 lineups from the available players and stores the match results in a database afterwards. The current prediction of the outcome uses a simple average of all previous match results from the 4 involved players. This gives a very rough estimation, but I'd like to replace it with something more sophisticated, taking into account things like: players may be good playing as attacker but bad as defender (or vice versa) players do well against a specific opponent / bad against others some teams work well together, others don't skills change over time What would be the best algorithm to predict the game outcome as accurately as possible? Someone suggested using a neural network for this, which sounds quite interesting... but I do not have enough knowledge on the topic to say if that could work, and I also suspect it might take too many games to be reasonably trained. EDIT: Had to take a longer break from this due to some project deadlines. To make the question more specific: Given the following mysql table containing all matches played so far: table match_result match_id int pk match_start datetime duration int (match length in seconds) blue_defense int fk to table player blue_attack int fk to table player red_defense int fk to table player red_attack int fk to table player score_blue int score_red int How would you write a function predictResult(blueDef, blueAtk, redDef, redAtk) {...} to estimate the outcome as closely as possible, executing any sql, doing calculations or using external libraries?

• java.security.AccessControlException : access denied (java.util.PropertyPermission http.agent read)

  I have a non-signed java applet interacting with the same host. Every time I click on an element in my page, the applet (which is a third part applet I have no control on) should load data from a URL. I say should, because for some files, I get java.security.AccessControlException : access denied (java.util.PropertyPermission http.agent read) and some other files are correctly loaded. All files are correctly readable and downloadable from the web server, and they are very simple text files. I also found that, in some cases, files that previously returned the error are now loaded and continue to load, so it seems a cache is involved somehow. Does any of you have an idea of what's going on here ? The behavior seems to be absolutely random, and I have no way of performing debug on this thing. Note: I used this applet to perform many other "single shot" file access, and it never gave me any problem. The only apparent difference I have is that now I do it "on-demand" via a javascript event. What could be the cause, in the java of the applet or anywhere else ?

• Best way to store and deliver files on a CMS

  Hi all.. First of all, this isn't another question about storing images on DB vs file system. I'm already storing the images on the file system. I'm just struggling to find a better way to show them to all my users. I' currently using this system. I generate a random filename using md5(uniqueid()), the problem that I'm facing, is that the image is then presented with a link like this: <img src="/_Media/0027a0af636c57b75472b224d432c09c.jpg" /> As you can see this isn't the prettiest way to show a image ( or a file ), and the name doesn't say anything about the image. I've been working with a CMS system at work, that stores all uploaded files on a single table, to access that image it uses something like this: <img src="../getattachment/94173104-e03c-499b-b41c-b25ae05a8ee1/Menu-1/Escritorios.aspx?width=175&height=175" /> As you can see the path to the image, now has a meaning compared to the other one, the problem is that this put's a big strain in the DB, for example, in the last site I made, I have an area that has around 60 images, to show the 60 images, I would have to do at least 60 individual query's to the database, besides the other query's to retrieve the various content on the page. I think you understand my dilemma, has anyone gone trough this problem, that can give me some pointers on how to solve this? Thanks..

• What does ~ in the beginning of an URL in asp.net exactly do ?

  I am editing a certain website which before used the port 80 (default) that was not required at the url (because it's default..) But the port had (for technical reasons) to be changed, and now it has to be informed. I can access the main page through ip:port\page like this: 1.2.3.4:81\page.aspx Every link in the website is composed like this: <asp:HyperLink runat="server" Text="random" NavigateUrl="~/fdr/whatever.aspx" /> And whenever I click on a link, the page doesn't load, but the URL is composed on the URL bar of the browser, then I simply add ":80" after the IP in the URL and it works. Due to the existance of querystrings (in other words, for already having access to the URL) I before thought that '~' in the beginning of a URL in a link was saying "keep in the same website, just change to this webpage in this folder", but if the port vanishes, I assume now that the address is requested (probably to IIS) the location of the current website. I want to know then (instead of having to add the port to each link in my website) how do I set up whoever is requested by the ~ in the link to add the port somehow. How do I do that?

His code is hard to understand but I managed to understand (and rewrite) most of it. They are named after their UNIX counterparts and do some basic testing so that the application does not need to bother with that.
