  For one of the columns in my jqGrid, I'm providing a custom formatter function. I'm providing some special cases, but if those conditions aren't met, I'd like to resort to using the built-in date formatter utility method. It doesn't seem that I'm getting the right combination of $.extend() to create the options that method is expecting.   Hi All, Consider this snippet of code: string sDate = string.Format("{0:u}", this.Date); Conn.Open(); Command.CommandText = "INSERT INTO TRADES VALUES(" + "\"" + this.Date + "\"" + "," +this.ATR + "," + "\"" + this.BIAS + "\"" + ")"; Command.ExecuteNonQuery(); Note the "this.Date" part of the command. Now Date is an abject of type DateTime of C# environment, the DB doesnt store it(somewhere in SQLite forum, it was written that ADO.NET wrapper automatically converts DateTime type to ISO1806 format) But instead of this.Date when I use sDate (shown in the first line) then it stores properly. My probem actually doesnt end here. Even if I use "sDate", I have to retrieve it through a query. And that is creating the problem Any query of this format SELECT * FROM <Table_Name> WHERE DATES = "YYYY-MM-DD" returns nothing, whereas replacing '=' with '' or '<' returns right results. So my point is: How do I query for Date variables from SQLite Database. And if there is a problem with the way I stored it (i.e non 1806 compliant), then how do I make it compliant

They have confirmed that our request is hitting their servers but a response is supposed to come back in 1 of a few ways determined by a parameter. • DataTable.Select Behaves Strangely Using ISNULL Operator on NULL DateTime Column

  I have a DataTable with a DateTime column, "DateCol", that can be DBNull. The DataTable has one row in it with a NULL value in this column. I am trying to query rows that have either DBNull value in this column or a date that is greater than today's date. Today's date is 5/11/2010. I built a query to select the rows I want, but it did not work as expected. The query was: string query = "ISNULL(DateCol, '" + DateTime.MaxValue + "'") > "' + DateTime.Today "'" This results in the following query: "ISNULL(DateCol, '12/31/9999 11:59:59 PM') > '5/11/2010'" When I run this query, I get no results. It took me a while to figure out why. What follows is my investigation in the Visual Studio immediate window: > dt.Rows.Count 1 > dt.Rows[0]["DateCol"] {} > dt.Rows[0]["DateCol"] == DBNull.Value true > dt.Select("ISNULL(DateCol,'12/31/9999 11:59:59 PM') > '5/11/2010'").Length 0 <-- I expected 1 Trial and error showed a difference in the date checks at the following boundary: > dt.Select("ISNULL(DateCol, '12/31/9999 11:59:59 PM') > '2/1/2000'").Length 0 > dt.Select("ISNULL(DateCol, '12/31/9999 11:59:59 PM') > '1/31/2000'").Length 1 <-- this was the expected answer The query works fine if I wrap the DateTime field in # instead of quotes. > dt.Select("ISNULL(DateCol, #12/31/9999#) > #5/11/2010#").Length 1 My machine's regional settings is currently set to EN-US, and the short date format is M/d/yyyy. Why did the original query return the wrong results? Why would it work fine if the date was compared against 1/31/2000 but not against 2/1/2000?

• IIS 6 with wildcard mapping and UNC virtual directory problem

  Hi. On our production servers (win 2003 with IIS6 and load balanced with an F5 BIGIP), we have a problem when introducing wildcardmapping on IIS6. We use .net Framework 3.5 SP1. The issue manifests itself as by the server only sometimes serving the images stored on a virtual directory pointing to a UNC path. Sometimes the images are displayed, and sometimes not. Removing the wildcard mapping solved this problem. I will need wildcard mapping on the server for future features, so any help/pointers to if this is a known problem will be very helpful. In advance, thanks for any help. Edit: The exception it fails with is the following: Message: Failed to start monitoring changes to '\ourFileServer\folder1\thumbnails' because the network BIOS command limit has been reached. • How to read a Website's Directory Structure using WMI and C# in IIS 6.0?

  Hi all, I need to read a website's folders using WMI and C# in IIS 6.0. I am able to read the Virtual directories and applications using the "IISWebVirtualDirSetting" class. However the physical folders located inside a website cannot be read using this class. And for my case i need to read sub folders located within a website and later on set permission on them. For my requirement i dont need to work on Virtual Directories/Web Service Applications (which can be easily obtained using the code below..). I have tried to use IISWebDirectory class but it has been useful.   Hello , I am trying to create an adjacency list to store a graph.The implementation works fine while storing 100,000 records. • Base64 en/decoding between xstream and iPhone SDK

  I am passing a byte array from a java server to an iPad client in XML. The server is using xstream to convert the byte array to XML with the EncodedByteArrayConverter, which should convert the array to Base 64. Using xstream, I can decode the xml back to the proper byte array in a java client, but in the iPad client, I'm getting an invalid length error. To do my decoding, I'm using the code at the bottom of this page. The length of the string is indeed not a multiple of 4, so there must be something strange with my string - although since xstream can decode it just fine, I'm guessing there's just something I need to to on the iPad side to get it to decode. I've tried cutting off padding at the end of the string to get it down to the right size, and that does allow the decoder to work, but I end up with JPG's that have invalid headers, and are not displayable. On the server side, I'm using the following code: Object rtrn = getByteArray(); XStream xstream = new XStream(); String xml = xstream.toXML(rtrn); On the client side, I'm calling the above decoder from the XML parsing callback like this: -(void)parser:(NSXMLParser *)parser foundCharacters:(NSString *)string { NSLog(@"Converting data; string length: %d", [string length]); //NSLog(@"%@", string); NSData *data = [Base64 decode:string]; NSLog(@"converted data length: %d", [data length]); } Any ideas what could be going wrong?

• python - tkinter - update label from variable

  I wrote a python script that does some stuff to generate and then keep changing some text stored as a string variable. This works, and I can print the string each time it gets changed. Problems have arisen while trying to display that output in a GUI (just as a basic label) using tkinter. I can get the label to display the string for the first time... but it never updates. This is really the first time I have tried to use tkinter, so it's likely I'm making a foolish error. It also seems possible I am meant to be using trace and callback somehow to make all this work...but I can't get my head around how that works (I tried, but didn't manage to make anything that even looked like it would do something, let alone actually worked). I'm still very new to both python and especially tkinter, so, any help much appreciated but please spell it out for me if you can :)

• Reordering arguments using recursion (pro, cons, alternatives)

  I find that I often make a recursive call just to reorder arguments. For example, here's my solution for endOther from codingbat.com: Given two strings, return true if either of the strings appears at the very end of the other string, ignoring upper/lower case differences (in other words, the computation should not be "case sensitive"). Note: str.toLowerCase() returns the lowercase version of a string. public boolean endOther(String a, String b) { return a.length() < b.length() ? endOther(b, a) : a.toLowerCase().endsWith(b.toLowerCase()); } I'm very comfortable with recursions, but I can certainly understand why some perhaps would object to it. There are two obvious alternatives to this recursion technique: Swap a and b traditionally public boolean endOther(String a, String b) { if (a.length() < b.length()) { String t = a; a = b; b = t; } return a.toLowerCase().endsWith(b.toLowerCase()); } Not convenient in a language like Java that doesn't pass by reference Lots of code just to do a simple operation An extra if statement breaks the "flow" Repeat code public boolean endOther(String a, String b) { return (a.length() < b.length()) ? b.toLowerCase().endsWith(a.toLowerCase()) : a.toLowerCase().endsWith(b.toLowerCase()); } Explicit symmetry may be a nice thing (or not?) Bad idea unless the repeated code is very simple ...though in this case you can get rid of the ternary and just || the two expressions So my questions are: Is there a name for these 3 techniques? (Are there more?) Is there a name for what they achieve? (e.g. "parameter normalization", perhaps?) Are there official recommendations on which technique to use (when)? What are other pros/cons that I may have missed?
