• CentOS - Add additional hard drive raid arrays on Dell Perc 5/i card

  We have a Dell Poweredge 2900 system with Dell Perc 5/i card and 4 SAS hard drives attached, with NTFS partitions on them. We installed CentOS on one raid array on this controller with a different controller and it is working fine. We are now trying to access the drives shown above and they are not being shown in /dev as sdb, etc. sda is the drive that we installed centos on and it has sda1, sda2, sda3, etc. The CDROM has been picked up as well. If I scan for scsi devices then the perc and adaptec controllers are both found. sg0 is the CDROM and sg2 is the centos installed, however I think sg1 is the other drive but I cannot see anyway to mount the partitions, as only the drive is listed in /dev. FURTHER UPDATE I have installed the megaraid storage manager console and connected to the server. It appears that the two CentOS installation hard drives are OK. The other 6 drives, one raid array of 4 and one raid array of 2 disks. The other drives are listed as (Foreign) Unconfigured Good.

• What needs updating when moving a bootable Windows 7 (or Vista) partition?

  When I move a bootable NTFS partition with Windows on it to a different block offset, what needs updating to make it bootable again? In particular, here's what I tried: I have a disk with several partitions, one of which is the NTFS partition with Windows on it, and the disk uses the plain old MBR block 0 for the partitions layout (no more than 4 partitions). Now I format and partition a new, larger, disk. There I make room for the NTFS partition and copy the contents from the old disk's NTFS Windows partition into. And I make the partition "active". However, when I try to boot from this disk, I get a "read error" message immediately and the booting stops, the exact text is: A disk read error occurred Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart I verified that both disks have the same boot sector code in block 0. It seems to me that something else might need updating. I guess that somewhere there's a absolute block reference that I need to update, probably pointing to the next level loader or to the NT kernel. Update: I found this article going quite into the depth of what I want to know. However, it says to modify boot.ini, but I have Windows 7 installed here, where such things appear to have changed: No boot.ini but a folder called System Volume Information with GUID and other data in it that sounds related to my problem. Going to keep digging... Update 2: Thanks to the terrible looking but very informative website by starman, I was able to figure out the first step: The NTFS boot sector has a field for "hidden" sectors. This feld has to contain the sector number of the boot sector. This solves the "read error" message. Now, however, I get a "BOOTMGR is missing" error instead. Looks like there's another place where a block number has to be adjusted, but I can't find anything in the code listing about this. I do find a lot of help sites suggesting Windows tools for fixing this "BOOTMGR is missing" problem, but none seem to know what goes on behind the scenes. Kind of like suggesting to re-install Windows when there's a little problem with it. At least, those fixes seem to work, mostly involving the Bcdedit and Bootrec tools. Now, who knows what they do, especially the latter, in regards to a moved partition? Update 3: After lots of trial-and-error attempts, I believe now that the solution lies in the BCD-Template registry file, residing usually inside \Windows\System32\config. If I get this updated using the "bcdboot" command, Windows starts up from it. I am now in the middle of figuring out what information this registry contains relevant to the above question. Any pointers to the contents of this registry are welcome. Update 4: Turns out that while the BCD-Template file gets rewritten and has different binary contents than its predecessor, the values inside do not change. So it must be something else that bcdboot.exe writes. I had previously already checked if it changes the first 32 boot blocks of the partition, but they appear to remain unchanged. Parititon map doesn't get changed, either. So what is it that bcdboot modifies besides the BCD registry? Any tips on how I can trace that? Are there low level tools that show me what files a program writes to? Update 5: The answer seems to be: c:\Boot\BCD is also changed, and that appears to be the key file for the boot manager's process. I'll investigate this later... Update 6: It seems to be an important detail that I had originally two partitions created when I installed Windows 7: A small partition of 204800 sectors which appears to be a bootstrap partition, followed by the actual, large, partition containing the Windows system (drive C:). When I tried to transfer this installation to a new, larger, disk, I had kept the same two partitions intact on the new drive, although they ended up at a different offset. This alone led to the "BOOTMGR is missing" message. Since then, I've used bcdboot.exe only on the Windows partition, which added the \Boot\BCD file on that partition. That file (and folder) did originally only exist on the smaller partition. Hence, this problem may be more complicated in my case as one partition (the boot strapper) referred to another partition (the one containing the OS), whereas other people may only have to deal with one partition containing both, and maybe there the solution is simpler. Update 7: Found one more detail: The \Boot\BCD file records the MBR's serial number. If that number doesn't match, the system won't boot. Next I'll test if there's also an absolute block reference stored in there.

One difference I noticed between the test and production environment is when I used the soap url in the browser the production site pops up a 'Authentication Required' popup. When I gives my proxy username and password in this popup, it shows the soap request details. The same is applicable for the login url also. First it will ask for the 'Authentication' then it will take to the sugar crm login page? Is it a server security setting? If it is then how to set this user name and password using java in a web service call. The authentication required popup is same as the one which comes when we try to access the tomcat manager through a browser. Thanks

• Overriding the save() method of a model that uses django-mptt

  I've been using django-mptt in my project for a while now, it's fabulous. Recently, I've found a need to override a model's save() method that uses mptt, and I'm getting an error when I try to save a new instance of that model: Exception Type: ValueError at /admin/scrivener/page/add/ Exception Value: Cannot use None as a query value I'm assuming that this is a result of the fact that the instance hasn't been stuck into a tree yet, but I'm not sure how to go about fixing this. I added a comment about it onto a similar issue on the project's tracker, but I was hoping that someone here might be able to put me on the right track faster. Here's the traceback. • SMO ConnectionContext.StatementTimeout setting is ignored

  I am successfully using Powershell with SMO to backup most databases. However, I have several large databases in which I receive a "timeout" error "System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: Timeout expired". The timout consistently occurs at 10 minutes. I have tried setting ConnectionContext.StatementTimeout to 0, 6000, and to [System.Int32]::MaxValue. The setting made no difference. I have found a number of Google references which indicate setting it to 0 makes it unlimited. No matter what I try, the timeouts consistently occur at 10 minutes. I even set Remote Query Timeout on the server to 0 (via Studio Manager) to no avail. Below is my SMO connection where I set the time out and the actual backup function. Further below is the output from my script. UPDATE Interestingly enough, I wrote the backup function in C# using VS 2008 and the timeout override does work within that environment. I am in the process of incorporating that C# process into my Powershell Script until I can find out why the timeout override does not work with just Powershell. When line is 'http://www.google.com/', it works, I think it's the UTF-8 encoding of the file that I opened... How to make charAt work with UTF-8? • 500 - An error has occurred! DB function reports no errors when adding new article in Joomla!

  I have an article that I want to publish on my Joomla! site. Every time I click apply or save. I get error 500 - An error has occurred! DB function reports no errors. I have no idea why this error comes up, al I can think is that it's a server error. I'm using TinyMCE to type articles together with Joomla! 1.5.11. Updated: I turned on Maximum error reporting in Joomla! and in the article manager I tried to save the article and got these couple of errors. Please check screenshot I tried adding <?php ini_set('error_reporting', E_ALL); error_reporting(E_ALL); ini_set('log_errors',TRUE); ini_set('html_errors',TRUE); ini_set('display_errors',true); ?> at the top of the index.php pages for Joomla! but it does not show any errors. I checked the error logs on the server and also no errors come up. I managed to publish the article via phpMyAdmin but then something else happens. I try to access to article from the front end, by clicking on the link to the article, but only a blank page comes up. This is really weird, since the error log does not show any information. So I assume the error needs to be coming from Joomla! • Rendering a WPF Network Map/Graph layout - Manual? PathListBox? Something Else?

  I'm writing code to present the user with a simplified network map. At any given time, the map is focused on a specific item... say a router or a server. Based on the focused item, other network entities are grouped into sets (i.e. subnets or domains) and then rendered around the focused item. Lines would represent connections and groups would be visually grouped inside a rectangle or ellipse. Panning and zooming are required features. An item can be selected to display more information in a "properties" style window. An item could also be double-clicked to re-focus the entire network map on that item. At that point, the entire map would be re-calculated. I am using MVVM without any framework, as of yet. Assume the logic for grouping items and determining what should be shown or not is all in place. I'm looking for the best way to approach the UI layout. So far, I'm aware of the following options: Use a canvas for layout (inside a ScrollViewer to handle the panning). Have my ViewModel make use of a Layout Manager type of class, which would handle assigning all the layout properties (Top, Left, etc.). Bind my set of display items to an ItemsControl and use Data Templates to handle the actual rendering. The drawbacks with this approach: Highly manual layout on my part. Lots of calculation. I have to handle item selection manually. Computation of connecting lines is manual. The Pros of this approach: I can draw additional lines between child subnets as appropriate (manually). Additional LayoutManagers could be added later to render the display differently. This could probably be wrapped up into some sort of a GraphLayout control to be re-used. Present the focused item at the center of the display and then use a PathListBox for layout of the additional items. Have my ViewModel expose a simple list of things to be drawn and bind them to the PathListBox. Override the ListBoxItem Template to also create a line geometry from the borders of the focused item (tricky) to the bound item. Use DataTemplates to handle the case where the item being bound is a subnet, in which case we would use another PathListBox in the template to display items inside the subnet. The drawbacks with this approach: Selected Item synchronization across multiple `PathListBox`es. Only one item on the whole graph can be selected at a time, but each child PathListBox maintains its own selection. Also, subnets cannot be selected, but would be selectable without additional work. Drawing the connecting lines is going to be a bit of trickery in the ListBoxItem template, since I need to know the correct side of the focused item to connect to. The pros of this approach: I get to stay out of the layout business, more. I'm looking for any advice or thoughts from others who have encountered similar issues or who have more WPF experience than I. I'm using WPF 4, so any new tricks are legal and encouraged.

• How to tell Seam to inject a local EJB interface (SLSB) and not the remote EJB interface (SLSB)?

  Hello, I am using Seam with JBoss AS. In my application I have a SLSB which is also declared as a seam component using the @Name annotation. I am trying to inject and use this SLSB in another seam component using the @In annotation. My problem is that sometimes Seam injects the local interface (then the code runs fine) and sometimes seam injects the remote interface (then there is an error in execution of the code). I have tried doing all the things specified on this link: http://docs.jboss.org/seam/2.2.0.GA/reference/en-US/html/configuration.html#config.integration.ejb.container The SeamInterceptor is configured, I have specified the jndi pattern in components.xml file ( < core:init debug="true" jndi-pattern="earName/#{ejbName}/local"/ ), I have also tried using the @JndiName("earName/ejbName/local") annotation for every SLSB, I have tried setting this property ( org.jboss.seam.core.init.jndiPattern=earName/#{ejbName}/local ) in the seam.properties file. I have also tried putting the text below in web.xml file <context-param> <param-name>org.jboss.seam.core.init.jndiPattern</param-name> <param-value>earName/#{ejbName}/local</param-value> </context-param> Even after doing all the above mentioned things, the seam still injects the remote interface sometimes. Am I missing something here? Can anyone tell me how to resolve this issue and tell seam to always inject the local interface? • Using Xlib via JNA to move a window

  I'm using JNA to manipulate application windows on Linux by sending Xlib messages but can't seem to move a window. My original implementation executed wmctrl on the shell to move the windows and that successfully moved the windows. Unfortunately, there's a noticeable amount of overhead associated with calling shell programs from Java, so now I'm trying to make direct API calls using JNA. I'm using the X11 example available from the JNA website and can successfully do a few tricks, such as enumerating the window IDs and reading window properties, so I know JNA+Xlib is at least partially working. First I tried moving the windows directly using XMoveWindow() but the window manager was apparently blocking those calls. I ran across a thread that suggested I needed to send a client message using XSendMessage(), so I've done that below, but apparently XSendMessage() is failing because the window doesn't move and I get a return value of 0. I'm guessing I omitted something obvious, but can't quite figure it out. Any suggestions? Note that, for the purposes of this example, the main method has a window ID hard-coded. • VS2010 Assembly Load Error

  I am getting the following error when I try to build an ASP.NET 4 project in Visual Studio 2010: "Could not load file or assembly 'file:///C:\Dev\project\trunk\bin\Elmah.dll' or one of its dependencies. Operation is not supported. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80131515)". I have verified that the dll does, in fact, exist, and is getting copied to the bin folder correctly. I have also tried removing and then re-adding the reference to the project. The build only fails when I switch the Solution Configuration to "Release". It does not fail when the Solution Configuration is set to "Debug". • Drools flow architecture, Drools flow events with AND join nodes

  I have been evaluating a number of frameworks including jBPM and Drools flow for my application requirements. Lots of the opinions seem to be inclined towards Drools flow as its more flexible, knowledge oriented, easier to integrate with business rules, etc.. The application is some sort of an Email Campaign manager , where different customers can sign in, prepare (design) and launch email campaigns. The application should be able to do the following : 1- Receive a list of email addresses, send emails to each of these addresses starting from a certain date and during a certain time interval of the day , do some custom actions, and then wait for reply emails. 2- If a reply email is received and depending on the response text of the email , and depending on the time the email was received certain actions need to happen, web service calls need to take place, and error handling for these calls. 3- The application will manage and run many and different campaigns (different customers and different flows for each customer) at any point of time. The first question is : Is Drools flow the way to go about this? My main concerns are scalability, suspending, resuming flows, and long wait, and flows management. As you see from the requirements : There is a scheduling part : Certain flows need to be run at a certain point in time, they need to get suspended and then resumed. For example start sending emails starting on Dec 1st 2010 and send emails only in the time interval between 08:00 and 17:00 GMT. By then it might be that all subscribers have been sent emails, but it might not be the case, the process needs to (resume) on Dec 2nd and send a second batch, however certain (users) already received emails and they should be able to (continue at different stages of the flow) There are long wait states : Days or even weeks , i need to persist, suspend / resume and terminate flows (manage flows) External Events : This is where i got stuck first, i tried to put together a simple flow (see attached screenshot) See image http://img46.imageshack.us/img46/9620/workflowwithevents.png , there is a start node , connected to an action node, connected to a join. An event node is connected to a second action node, which is connected to the join. The join is an AND join , after the join there is an action and the end node. • Why is AutoCompleteExtender not firing?

  Hi, I have some issue with the ASP AutoCompleteExtender control. I got one in my page that is working fine, but I have put another one in the same page, and I can't get it to work. Using HTTP Analyzer, no query is fired when I type into the textbox associated with it. Has anyone an idea? Both call the same webservice, with a different ContextKey parameter. The webservice cannot be the cause as it works in the first case (DevMgrTxtBox), and is not even called in the second (DevTxtBox). Properties of both controls are similar, I just changed the ID and targetControlID of the second. The code below is in a ContentPlaceHolder. I'm using VS2005 with .NET 2.0. AjaxControlToolkit.dll is in version 1.0.20229.0. EDIT: solution found. The ID is not the only thing that needs to be unique, the BehaviorID property must be unique too. • Enable button based on TextBox value (WPF)

  This is MVVM application. There is a window and related view model class. There is TextBox, Button and ListBox on form. Button is bound to DelegateCommand that has CanExecute function. Idea is that user enters some data in text box, presses button and data is appended to list box. I would like to enable command (and button) when user enters correct data in TextBox. Things work like this now: CanExecute() method contains code that checks if data in property bound to text box is correct. Text box is bound to property in view model UpdateSourceTrigger is set to PropertyChanged and property in view model is updated after each key user presses. Problem is that CanExecute() does not fire when user enters data in text box. It doesn't fire even when text box lose focus. How could I make this work? Edit: Re Yanko's comment: Delegate command is implemented in MVVM toolkit template and when you create new MVVM project, there is Delegate command in solution. As much as I saw in Prism videos this should be the same class (or at least very similar). Anyway, idea that in order to activate command based on user input, one needs to "nudge" command object in property setter code looks clumsy. It will introduce dependencies and one of big points of MVVM is reducing them. Is it possible to solve this problem by using dependency properties?

• How do I get Visual Studio build process to pass condition to library(external) project

  I have tried several solutions for this problem. Enough to know I do not know enough about MSBuild to do this elegantly but I feel like there should be a method. I have a set of libraries for working with .net projects. A few of the projects utilize System.Web.Mvc - which recently released Version 2 - and we are looking forward to the upgrade. Currently sites which reference this library reference it directly by the project(csproj) on the developer's computer - not a built version of the library so that changes and source code case easily be viewed when dealing code from this library. This works quite well and would prefer to not have to switch to binary references (but will if this is the only solution). The problem I have is that because of some of the functionality that was added onto the MVC1 based library (view engines, model binders etc) several of the sites reliant on these libraries need to stay on MVC1 until we have full evaluated and tested them on MVC2. I would prefer to not have to fork or have two copies on each dev machine. I am creating the "mutable" bitmap after seeing someone using it and it seems to work better than without it. And i am using the parse method on the Uri class and not the fromFile because in my code i am calling these in different places and when i am creating the intent i have a string path instead of a file. Now for my problem. The file gets created. The intent launches a dialog asking me to select a viewer. I have 3 viewers installed. The Astro image viewer, the default media gallery (i have a milstone on 2.1 but on the milestone the 2.1 update did not include the 3d gallery so it's the old one) and the 3d gallery from the nexus one (i found the apk in the wild). Now when i launch the 3 viewers the following happen: Astro image viewer: The activity launches but i see nothing but a black screen. Media Gallery: i get an exception dialog shown "The application Media Gallery (process com.motorola.gallery) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again" with a force close option. 3D gallery: Everything works as it should. When i try to simply open the file using the Astro file manager (browse to it and simply click) i get the same option dialog but this time things are different: Astro image viewer: Everything works as it should. Media Gallery: Everything works as it should. 3D gallery: The activity launches but i see nothing but a black screen. As you can see everything is a complete mess. I have no idea why this happens but it happens like this every single time. It's not a random bug. Am i missing something when i am creating the intent? Or when i am creating the image file? Any ideas?

The access to the programmer has been documented through the API32.dll with a number of procedures that accesses the registry. But that is not the problem yet it looks like the problem!!!!!!!!! The key is info about the registry and how to use it. These keys are viewed in RegEdit.exe it’s self. Some parts of the registry like the USB have been given a windows security system type of protection with a Aurthz.dll to give the USB read and right protection. Even the api32.dll. Now only Microsoft give out these details and we all know Microsoft hate Delphi. Now C users have enjoyed this access for over 10 years now. Now some will make out that you should never give out such information because some idiot may make a stupid virus (true), but the argument is also do Delphi users need to be denied USB access for another ten years!!!!!!!!!!!!. What I do not have is the skill in is assembly code. I’m seeking for some one that can trace how regedit.exe gets its access through Aurthz.dll to access the USB data. So I’m asking all who reads this:- to partition any friend they have that has this skill to get the Aurthz.dll info needed. I find communicating with USB.org they reply when they have a positive email reply but do not bother should their email be a slightly negative policy. For all simple reasoning, all that USB had to do was to have a secure key as they have done, and to update the same data into a unsecured key every time the data is changed for USB developer to access. And not bother developers access to Aurthz.dll. • WMD editor freezes IE7 for 3 seconds on load

  Hello all, I am using the WMD editor's original code(not the stackoverflow version) since I need multiple of 'em on the same page and stackoverflow's version makes heavy use of element IDs internally since they aren't going to be having more than one editor instance per page. The code runs fin in FF 3.5, etc.. However, when I run it in IE8 (in IE7 compatibility mode), it freezes the whole browser for about 3 sec. before a new instance shows up. I tried profiling it with IE's dev. tools, and it seems that the getWidth() function on line 520 of the minified version of the code is taking up all the time. However, when I tried to hard-code the return (since it was always returning the same thing), the bottleneck shifted to the getHeight() function. • Doctrine Build-All Task fails in NetBeans - Class not found! Fatal Error: call to evictAll()

  When I build my model with the symfony doctrine:build --all --and-load command I have made no major changes to the model/schema, this is something new.   I am creating a plugin system and I am creating one AppDomain per plugin. Each plugin has its own directory with its main assemblies and references. The main assemblies will be loaded by my plugin loader, in addition to my interface assemblies (so the plugin can interact with the application). Creating the AppDomain: this.appDomain = AppDomain.CreateDomain("AppDomain", null, new AppDomainSetup { ApplicationBase = pluginPath, PrivateBinPath = pluginPath, }); Loading the assemblies: this.appDomain.Load(myInterfaceAssembly.GetName(true)); var assemblies = new List<Assembly>(); foreach (var assemblyName in this.assemblyNames) { assemblies.Add(this.appDomain.Load(assemblyName)); } The format of assemblyName is the assembly's filename without ".dll". The problem is that AppDomain.Load(assemblyName) throws an exception: Could not load file or assembly '[[assemblyName]], Version=1.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified. All of the dependencies of [[assemblyName]] are: Inside the directory pluginPath, The myInterfaceAssembly which is already loaded, or In the GAC (e.g. mscorelib). Clearly I'm not doing something right. I have tried: Creating an object using this.appDomain.CreateInstanceAndUnwrap inheriting from MarshalByRefObject with a LoadAssembly method to load the assembly. I get an exception saying that the current assembly (containing the proxy class) could not be loaded (file not found, as above), even if I manually call this.appDomain.Load(Assembly.GetExecutingAssembly().GetName(true)). Attaching an AssemblyResolve handler to this.appDomain. I'm met with the same exception as in (1), and manually loading doesn't help. Recursively loading assemblies by loading their dependencies into this.appDomain first. OK, back to the problem ;) When I run this test app on XP (or Vista/Windows 7 with Aero off), I get something like this, which is great because I can eek an xor mask out of this that can be used later with BitBlt. Here is the problem, on Vista or Windows 7 with Aero enabled, there isn't necessarily a region on the window, in fact in most cases there isn't. Can anybody help me figure out how to get the region of the application like this on these platforms. Here are some of the approaches I have already tried... 1. Using the PrintWindow function: This doesn't work because it gives back a screenshot taken of the window with Aero off and this window is a different shape from the window returned with Aero on 2 Using the Desktop Window Manager API to get a full size thumbnail: This didn't work because it draws directly to the screen and from what I can tell you can't get a screenshot directly out of this api. Yeah, I could open a window with a pink background, show the thumbnail, take a screenshot then hide this temporary window but thats a horrible user experience and a complete hack I would rather not have my name on. 3. Using Graphics.CopyFromScreen or some other pinvoke variant of this: This doesn't work because I can't assume that the window I need information from is at the top of the z-order on the screen. Right now, the best solution I can think of is to special case Aero on Windows 7 and Vista to manually rub out the corners by hard coding some graphics paths I paint out but this solution would suck since any application that performs custom skinning will break this. • Overwrite archetypes in Maven

  Hello again! I'm having some trouble using Maven for my archetypes and I will need to overwrite some. I launch an instruction that does an archetype:generate in an archetype already existing directory. Is there a parameter that let's me overwrite existing archetypes? I have search the maven definitve guide but it states that the only parameters accepted are: -DgroupId -DartifactId -Dversion -DpackageName -DarchetypeGroupId -DarchetypeArtifactId -DarchetypeVersion -DinteractiveMode I could just search the directory and delete the files, but this proccess is going to be done automatically (so no human involved, no brains involved) and I wouldn't like he machine deleting things around. • Event receiver on Content Type not triggered on WikiPageLibrary

  Hello all, I created a new content type for a wiki page library. I added this content type to library by code (the interface did not allow this). Next, I added an event receiver to this content type (on ItemAdded and ItemAdding). My problem is that no event is trrigered. If I add this events directly to the wiki page library all works fine. Is there a limitation/bug/trick ?
