• Writing Facebook apps in C#

  Hi, I am a C# developer and fancy the idea of writing a C# app or two to integrate with the Facebook API. I read from this page: http://wiki.developers.facebook.com/index.php/User:C_Sharp that there's this Microsoft SDK for Facebook Platform that has binary assemblies that I can use to write my C# app. As a start, I want to try out the example mentioned on the above-mentioned page -- one that gets me a friend list. The problem is: I am completely new to this Facebook development thing and I see I am going to need, at the very least, an API Key and some Facebook service Secret key or some such, to begin writing some code. Do I also need a developer account? Where do I get all these things from?

• Full text searching in SQL Server 2008 Express Advanced

  Hi, I have recently installed SQL Server 2008 Express Edition with Advanced Services on XP Pro but am having trouble getting full text searching to work with an restored database. The database was originally created in SQL Server 2005. When I call a stored proc that uses the full text index then I get the following error: Full-Text Search is not installed, or a full-text component cannot be loaded. This is my db version: Microsoft SQL Server 2008 (RTM) - 10.0.1600.22 (Intel X86) Jul 9 2008 14:43:34 Copyright (c) 1988-2008 Microsoft Corporation Express Edition with Advanced Services on Windows NT 5.1 (Build 2600: Service Pack 3) When I run: SELECT DATABASEPROPERTY('DBNAME','ISFULLTEXTENABLED') I get: 1 Also, when I look in the advanced properties for the db server in Management Studio I see both the "Default Full-Text Language" and "Full-Text Upgrade Option" properties. However, when I go to SQL Server Configuration Manager I don't see the "MSSQLFDLauncher" service. Does anyone know how to get this working? Cheers, Iain

• belongs_to with a custom class_name not producing proper foreign key in Rails 3

  I am updating an application to Rails 3 and I am having trouble creating a custom foreign key. I have something like this: class Product < ActiveRecord::Base belongs_to :owner, :class_name => 'User' ... end class User < ActiveRecord::Base has_many :products ... end class ProductsController < ApplicationController before_filter :authenticate_user! def index @products = current_user.products end end The view: <%- @products.each do |p| -%> <%= p.created_at %><br /> <%- end -%> I get this error in my Rails log: Mysql::Error: Unknown column 'products.user_id' in 'where clause': SELECT `products`.* FROM `products` WHERE (`products`.user_id = 1) It should see the belongs_to :owner and look for a foreign key called owner_id. I even tried explicitly setting the foreign key and that does not work. I also checked lighthouse for a possible Rails 3 bug but no luck.

• Any open source back test engine using bloomberg tick-by-tick data?

  I have a back test on index futures to do. I've finished the test on 1-minute OHLC data and the result is OK. Further I want to opt our tick-by-tick data downloaded from Bloomberg. I have browsed the internet and found that several trading platforms are available for such function but Bloomberg is not in the data source providers list. So I think these are not suitable for my case. I'm wondering whether there is any open-source engine that I may embed to finish the test?

• Easiest way to pass a javascript array or its values to a servlet and convert to a HashMap

  I have a Javascript array. I want to pass it's data to a servlet using the ajax() method of jQuery. What is the easiest way to do this. The index values i.e. the i in array[i] are not in order, they are numbers that have meaning themselves, hence I cannot simply loop through and create a GET queryString, or so I believe. Maybe I should be converting the JavaScript array to a JSON Object and sending that to the server ?? I am stumped on this one.

• jquery slideUp() and slideDown() problems

  Hello, I am very crap at jquery, and im having some trouble with the slideUp() and slideDown() animations. I have been working on a vCard design similar to tim van damme's site. here is a the link to the design: link. When you click on the portfolio or work button, the text or image appears first before the div finishes sliding down. I would like the div to slide down first and then show the text... This currently works when you click on the contact button or the home button on the top navigation bar, but does not work for the portfolio button and the work button. I have a hunch that this may not even be a jquery problem, and that its just my bad css code, but I have skimmed through the css code, and changed things like z-index, but that hasnt worked.

  I have a collection of Post objects and I want to be able to sort them based on these conditions: First, by category (news, events, labs, portfolio, etc.) Then by date, if date, or by position, if a specific index was set for it Some posts will have dates (news and events), others will have explicit positions (labs, and portfolio). I want to be able to call posts.sort!, so I've overridden <=>, but am looking for the most effective way of sorting by these conditions. Below is a pseudo method: def <=>(other) # first, everything is sorted into # smaller chunks by category self.category <=> other.category # then, per category, by date or position if self.date and other.date self.date <=> other.date else self.position <=> other.position end end It seems like I'd have to actually sort two separate times, rather than cramming everything into that one method. Something like sort_by_category, then sort!. What is the most ruby way to do this?

• How to convert an arbitrary object to String with JSTL? (calling toString())

  Is there any way to call toString() on an object with the JSTL? (I need the String representation of an enum as index in a map in a JSP EL expression.) I hoped something like ${''+object} would work like in java, but JSTL isn't that nice, and there does not seem to be any function that does it. Clarification: I have a variable somemap that maps Strings to Strings, and I have a variable someenum that is an enumeration. I'd like to do something like ${somemap[someenum.toString()]}. (Of course .toString() does not work, but what does?)

  I'm using MCX (I don't even know if someone here is familiar with it, pretty unkown derivate of COBOL and Fortran, look it up in google when you don't believe me) Note: I'm using MCX on the MCX-WebServices server as it does neither support apache or ISS, mabye that is one problem. The thing is that I want to use the XML library to read in an XML file and convert it into an output format readable by the user.   Hi, I am developing a Blackberry app which should be able to access a DB. Here is my development environment and the tools I am using: Eclipse (Galileo) IDE with the Blackberry plugin installed. Blackberry OS 5.0 SQLAnywhere's DB 11 with UltraLiteJ (I am targeting Blackberrys running OS 4.1 and above) I have successfully executed a sample project for building a Blackberry application that uses the UltraLiteJ DB, following the tutorial in the UltraLiteJ documentation*. The tutorial creates, populates and retrieves data from the DB using java code. Now, I want to be able to access the tables and view data in them from the Eclipse IDE. Something similar to the FireFox plugin for SqlLite or say the Enterprise Manager for Sql Server 2005 which is a DB Explorer providing access to the StoredProcedures, Views, DB Diagrams etc. for a Database.   I was going to crawl a site for some research I was collecting. But, apparently the terms of service is quite clear on the topic. Is it illegal to now "follow" the terms of service. And what can the site normally do? Here is an example clause in the TOS. Also, what about sites that don't provide this particular clause. Restrictions: "use any robot, spider, site search application, or other automated device, process or means to access, retrieve, scrape, or index the site" It is just research? Edit: "OK, from the standpoint of designing an efficient crawler. Should I provide some form of natural language engine to read terms of service and then abide by them."

If I deactivate cookies in my browser and send the from, I'd get following error message: A required anti-forgery token was not supplied or was invalid. How can I prevent this message from showing? I would prefer redirecting the user to another page. • mod_rewrite regex help

  HI guys. Im using mod_rewrite to do some redirects on a web site. I want to be able to do the following mySite.com/ - Goto Home mySite.com/foo - Goto redirect.php and redirect acordingly. My redirect rule was RewriteRule (^\w*$) redirect.php?url=$1 [NC] But im oviously missing something because when I go tomySite.com/ I get sent to redirect.php I need a regex that allow lower and upper case letters, as well as underscores but it has to ignore "empty" strings so when I go to mySite.com/ the index file is displayed. Any help? Thanks!

• Using django-haystack, how do I perform a search with only partial terms?

  I've got a Haystack/xapian search index for django.contrib.auth.models.User. The template is simply {{object.get_full_name}} as I intend for a user to type in a name and be able to search for it. My issue is this: if I search, say, Sri (my full first name) I come up with a result for the user object pertaining to my name. However, if I search Sri Ragh - that is, my full name, and part of my last name, I get no results. How can I set Haystack up so that I can get the appropriate results for partial queries? (I essentially want it to search *Sri Ragh*, but I don't know if wildcards would actually do the trick, or how to implement them). This is my search query: results = SearchQuerySet().filter(content='Sri Ragh')

  Hey, Im using codeigniter and want to make my portal a bit more seo friendly. I have a controller (articles) witch handles every article, on my portal. The URL looks like this: example.com/articles/category-sub-category/article-name I'm using mod rewrite module to hide my index.php, and codeigniter routing to hide the controller action that handles every call. I want to hide articles too, but if i hide it, every call goes to the articles controller, and thats not what i want, because i want my url look like this: example.com/category-sub-category/article-name Ive tried it with regexp routing rules in the routes.php but i found no way to make it right.
