  • VIM Disable Automatic Newline At End Of File

    So I work in a PHP shop, and we all use different editors, and we all have to work on windows. I use vim, and everyone in the shop keeps complaining that whenever I edit a file there is a newline at the bottom. I've searched around and found that this is a documented behavior of vi & vim... but I was wondering if there was some way to disable this feature. (It wouldbe best if I could disable it for specific file extensions). If anyone knows about this, that would be great!

    Hi, what is regarded as the best approach to organising css. At the moment I am using a single link in the head of my xhtml documents as follows: <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="style/imports.css" /> In this file im importing several different css files i.e. reset.css, structure.css, skin.css I know there is an overhead in doing this as each requires an extra trip to the server but it makes things much more logical and organised in my opinion. Does anyone have an opinion on how best to organise their css. - Would it be better to put all these seperate css funcions into one single file? Also, is it best practice to minify css.

  • Import Data from text file into sql DB using CSLA

    I am trying to import data from ~ Delimited Text file into SQL Server using CSLA. My text file has 92,000 records in it. Here are the issues i am having with the import When i create a BusinnessListBase .new and add all my records to it, it gives me a "Out of meory exception". So to fix it i create a new bussinessbase object and save it. this works fine and is much faster too. It takes 15 minutes I have to run my program again and check for any changes and hence update them, this is where it takes too much time. Is there any alternative way to speed up my import?

    The git command git log --format='%H' --follow -- foo.txt will give you the series of commits that touch foo.txt, following it across renames. I'm wondering if there's a git log command that will also print the corresponding historical file name beside each commit. It would be something like this, where we can interpret '%F' to be the (actually non-existent) placeholder for filename. git log --format='%H %F' --follow -- foo.txt I know this could be accomplished with git log --format='%H' --follow --numstat -- foo.txt but the output is not ideal since it requires some non-trivial parsing; each commit is strewn across multiple lines, and you'll still need to parse the file rename syntax ("bar.txt => foo.txt") to find what you're looking for.

    I want to parse a c# file. The only thing I want is to determine if it contains a property with a specific name; just a simple true/false response. Or rather, since I'd checking for more than one property in each run, extracting a list of property names could be helpful I thought that I could create an elegant solution using the CodeDomProvider functionality (f# example): use reader = new StreamReader(existingFile) let codeProvider = new CSharpCodeProvider() let codeUnit = codeProvider.Parse(reader) Unfortunately, the Parse function is not implemented for the CSharpCodeProvider. Is there a way to get a CodeCompileUnit from a source file? Or is there another elegant way? (I had hoped to avoid regular expressions on this)?

    Hi, I'm looking for a PHP script that can accept an XML file via a POST, then send a response.... Does anyone have any code that could do this? So far the only code I have is this but not sure about the response or if indeed I am even going in the right direction as XML characters are not saved correctly.     We have a mass emailing tool (.net based) that we developed in house. html editor. and sends via html and text formats. within the body we have an absolute URL path to a PDF on our server. some of our subscribers are stating that when they click on the link they get a message box that the file is an executable file and whether they should run it or not... why would that happen... and only to a certain group?

    Hi, I have a file where I keep all scripts so my pages wouldn't get messy (I have php file which generates required javascript). My includes basically look like this: </html> <head> <script type="text/javascript" src="jquery.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript" src="script.php"></script> </head> <body> <input type="button" onClick="return blah();" /> </body> </html> In script.php there's jquery wrapper $(document).ready where I keep all jquery related stuff. The funny thing is, when I put function blah() inside this wrapper I get "blah is not defined" error, but when I put it outside - works perfectly. So, what could be the problem?

    Hello, previously i had javascript code right in the top of my view and it would work. Then, i learned that you can include the js file using yield and i did just that. I had rails view code inside my javascript code like : $( "#exp-progressbar" ).progressbar({ value: <%= ((@quest.end_time - Time.now).to_i * 100 ) / (@quest.duration * 60) %> }); Now, after i do it with yield, i get an error when i do that in the separate js file.     Hey all I'm looking to edit my app so that when a text within an xml file is selected, a new window opens. I've found various ways of making a new screen open via a class, but I need it done from a xml file. My program as a tablayout, and here is some of the stuff displayed within my first tab: <LinearLayout android:orientation="vertical" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent"> android:id="@+id/ScrollView01" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_width="fill_parent" <TextView android:textColor="#FFFFFF" android:text="First Header here" android:textStyle="bold" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" /> <TextView android:textColor="#FFFFFF" android:text="First body text here" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" /> So basically I need it so that when a text is selected, a new screen pops up. As said the reason this specifically has to be done in xml is because this is all apart of a tab layout, It would be great if the next within each tab could open a a new screen. Thanks.

The declaration and definition must not be separate because the appropriate form of the template is created "on-demand" when needed. So, how and where are templates typically defined in a multiple-file project like this? My intuition is that it would be in Foo.cpp because that's where the "meat" of functions normally is, but on the other hand it's the header file that's going to be included.

    I've used whenever gem with ruby 1.9.2 without any problems, but I installed ruby 1.9.3p125 on my server and it stopped working.     I am running a local development Drupal site on a Windows machine. I am trying to use the dd($data, $label = NULL) function from the devel module to help debug. Using this function, should write debug info to a drupal_debug.txt file in the /tmp folder on the machine where the Drupal site is hosted. On my Windows machine, although I am using this function, the drupal_debug.txt file is not getting created anywhere, leading me to believe I am using the function incorrectly. Here is a snippet of how I am using it, <?php $test = "this is my test"; dd($test, $label = NULL); I am looking for an example of the correct syntax for the dd($data, $label = NULL) function. But the recipient did not receive the attachment. This has been asked before. But it looks like there is no solution other than to copy the db file to SD card. My question then is: What is the use of the MODE_WORLD_READABLE flag if another app like GMail is unable to read the file?

  • Higher speed options for executing very large (20 GB) .sql file in MySQL

    My firm was delivered a 20+ GB .sql file in reponse to a request for data from the gov't. I don't have many options for getting the data in a different format, so I need options for how to import it in a reasonable amount of time. I'm running it on a high end server (Win 2008 64bit, MySQL 5.1) using Navicat's batch execution tool. It's been running for 14 hours and shows no signs of being near completion. Does anyone know of any higher speed options for such a transaction? Or is this what I should expect given the large file size? Thanks

    I'm working on my Matlab code in a number of different locations and it would really help if I could make the code aware of its location on the computer. I think there is a function that gives me exactly this information, but I can't remember what it is called or find it on Google. The idea is that I have a function myFunc that needs a file in its own directory, which can be in different locations on different computers. So in myFunc I want to do something like this: dir = theFunctionImLookingFor; system(fullfile(dir, 'someApp.exe')); (it could also be that the function I'm looking for doesn't return the directory, but the directory + m-file name, but that makes little difference to me) Thanks for any help!

    I am curious about how c/c++ compiler analyse lib files ? I mean say I create a library containing some classes, I am using that library in my main program. How does compiler know what class names are there in that library. Of course that information is present in binary format, I want to use that functionality in my program, to be specific I have a binary lib file and I want to know all classes and properties/functions present in that lib file. Is it possible ? If compiler can do that why can't some library ? thanks for any clue
