    Hi folks, I have a date column in a DB tabel that I want to query using a date taken from textbox.text. the user selects a date from the calendar in the format dd/MM/yyyy. I want to use that date to put into a query. How do i format the date to be able to query the database? Dim datefrom As String =txtDateFrom.Text Dim dateto As String =txtDateTo.Text The query will look like this: WHERE (tblClient.ClientID = " & ClientID & ") AND (tblBackupArchive.BackupDate BETWEEN '" + datefrom + "' AND '" + dateto + "')" I'm using MS SQL Server btw.   • Range partition skip check

    We have large amount of data partitioned on year value using range partition in oracle. We have used range partition but each partition contains data only for one year. When we write a query targeting a specific year, oracle fetches the information from that partition but still checks if the year is what we have specified. Since this year column is not part of the index it fetches the year from table and compares it. We have seen that any time the query goes to fetch table data it is getting too slow. Can we somehow avoid oracle comparing the year values since we for sure know that the partition contains information for only one year.

In jQuery, a DOM node or jQuery object can be passed as an attribute in a query, which sets the scope: var myScope = $('#someDiv'); $('a',myScope).addClass('red'); $('li',myScope).css('display','inline'); Now, in Dojo I can chain several .query()s after each other, but what should I do if I have a certain DOM node - not a nodeList - that I want to use as a scope?     Question: Can anyone point to an article or code samples anywhere on how to provide BOTH editing AND range selection in a TStringGrid? Yes, I KNOW there are third-party grids that do this, but it's frustrating that the built-in grid lacks this basic capability. Background: It's pretty normal to expect to be able to both edit a cell in a grid, and also to select a range of cells such as for a Copy operation. As delivered, TStringGrid doesn't do that. It's either/or. In fact, the docs tell us about the grid Options, "When goEditing is included in Options, goRangeSelect has no effect". However, it looks like it may be possible to do editing and rangeselects in a TStringGrid anyway!!! Through careful use of the mousedown, mouseup, selectcell and exit events, you can get dang close by switching editing elements on and off at the right times. But I still don't have it perfect, and that only covers mouse use, not keyboard changes.

    Hi, I wonder whether sqlite3 supports interval function. The following statement is accepted by PostgreSQL, however sqlite3 failed to parse it; select ... from orders where ... and o_orderdate < date '1995-03-01' + interval '3' month Error: near line 4: near "'1995-03-01'": syntax error Then, I modified the statement a little bit such as; and o_orderdate < date('1995-03-01') + interval '3' month This time the error was; Error: near line 4: near "'3'": syntax error Unfortunately, same trick did not work for the interval function i.e. and o_orderdate < date('1995-03-01') + interval('3' month) or and o_orderdate < date('1995-03-01') + interval('3') month or even and o_orderdate < date('1995-03-01') + interval(3 month) still gave me the syntax error. Maybe sqlite3 does not support interval function or am I missing something in its usage? Thanks a lot

    I'm trying to iterate through an array of elements. jQuery's documentation says: jquery.Each() documentation Returning non-false is the same as a continue statement in a for loop, it will skip immediately to the next iteration. I've tried calling 'return non-false;' and 'non-false;' (sans return) neither of which skip to the next iteration. Instead, they break the loop. What am i missing?

    There are 2 school of thoughts : Use surrogate key preferbly in the format of YYYYMMDD as this will always be sequential. Eliminate Date dimension surrogate key and use actual date instead. My Questions to experts on dimension modeling are : 1> Which design would you prefer and why ? 2> How should we handle unknown values in each of the cases, Can we simply place NULL in Fact table for unknown dates as Foreign Key can be NULL (if no why)? 3> If we need to partition fact table on date column ,how would we achieve that in case 1. I am inclined towards using actual date and using NULL to represent UNKNOWN dates in fact table , as date related validation on fact can be done without need to look in to dimension table.

However, the xDate attribute can only store dates, e.g. dd/MM/yyyy. How do I refactor the above to store a full date object using just one field, i.e. dd/MM/yyyy HH24:mm?

  • JQuery $.ajax doesn't return anything, but only in Google Chrome!?

    Hi All, I'm hoping someone can help me with this as I'm at a loss. I'm trying to simply load a plain text file into a page at runtime using jquery- everything works fine in IE8 (8.0.7600.16385), Firefox 3.6.3, however in Google Chrome 5.0.375.55 the "data" comes back as nothing- i get an empty alert box.   • apply style to range of text with javascript in uiwebview

    I am displaying some simple styled text as html in a UIWebView on iPhone. It is basically a series of paragraphs with the occasional strong or emphasized phrase. At runtime I need to apply styles to ranges of text. There are a few similar scenarios, one of which is highlighting search results. If the user has searched for "something" I would like to change the background color behind occurrences of the word, then later restore the original background. Is it possible to apply styles to ranges of text using javascript? A key part of this is also being able to unset the styles. There seem to be two likely paths to follow. One would be modifying some html in Objective-C and passing it through javascript as the new innerHTML of some container. The other would be to use javascript to directly manipulate DOM nodes. I could manipulate html, but that sounds tedious in Objective-C so I would rather manipulate the DOM if that is a reasonable approach. I am not that familiar with javascript and DOM so I do not know if it is a reasonable approach. I wrote some routines to translate between text ranges and node ranges with offsets. So if I start with text range 100-200 and that starts in one paragraph and ends in a third, I can get the text nodes and the offsets within the nodes that represent the given text range. I just need a way to split a text node at an offset in the text. Currently I just apply styles to the paragraphs containing the text range. A few notes: straight javascript please, no external frameworks like jquery. the changes never need to be written to disk. the changes should be undoable or at least removable. the styles to apply already exist in a css file. it needs to work in iPhone 3.0 and forward. all the source files are shipped with the app. please be verbose.     Hi everyone, I tried the jQuery fadeIn animation in all browsers and it work good, but not that much on IE. the Alpha png images are so creepy after appending the CSS opacity, but i have an idea and i don't know how to implement it using jQuery. The idea is to fadeIn the element and when the animation is finished it will automatically remove the opacity property in order to make the picture quality better. How to do that? Note: i'm using Animate and not FadeIn. Thanks

    I have a date controller which does various things. Once a calendar date is set, I want to pass the value from the date controller to another bean. The problem I have is that the setPropertyActionListener gets called before the user clicks on a date. Is there a way to get the date from the selectInputDate after selection and pass to a bean?   • Searching a 2D array for a range of values in java

    I have a 2^n size int array and I want to check if an element exists that is greater than 0. If the element exists, I want to divide the array by 4 and check if the coordinates of the found element are in the 1st, 2nd, 3rd or 4th quadrant of the array. For example, logically if the element exists in the first quadrant it would look something like this: If array[][] 0 && the row of that coordinate is in the range 0-(grid.length/2-1) && the column of that coordinate is in the range 0-(grid.length/2-1) then do something. I'm really not sure how to check the row and column index of the found element and store those coordinates to use in my if statement. Help!
