• Create and access folder outside Apache Tomcat webapps folder

  My web application requires functionality where end users can upload content, that can be later downloaded or viewed by others, the problem with current scheme is If I create such folder as part of your web project under webapps, every time I do deploy your web application (*.war), the content of that directory will be lost (or overridden). I think the best way to accomplish that is to create folder outside of standard tomcat webapps and access it from there, not sure how to do. Please point in correct direction. I am using Tomcat 4.x soon will be moving to 6.x. -Padur

• groovy variable function

  I'm not even sure about how to title this qn. But, hope there is an easy way to do it in dynamic language like groovy. say I have a class Service, where I delegate the business logic. the methods in it are funA(), funB()... funX(). Now I have a controller class, where I call the service closure, which can be invoked like service.funA() . Now based on a variable (which can have values A, B ... X), I need to cal the correct service closure. Basically to avoid writing lot of if conditional statements. Something like service."fun+var"() would do. I'm not sure whether it is possible to substitute variable in closure (function)name. or any way by passing function (name) as a parameter...not sure I think PHP has a similar feature http://php.net/manual/en/functions.variable-functions.php thanks for any pointer..

• Amazon S3 Add METADATA to existing KEY

  In S3 REST API I am adding metadata to an existing object by using the PUT (Copy) command and copying a key to the same location with 'x-amz-metadata-directive' = 'REPLACE' What I want to do is change the download file name by setting: Content-Disposition: attachment; filename=foo.bar; This sets the metadata correctly but when I download the file it still uses the keyname instead of 'foo.bar' I use a software tool S3 Browser to view the metadata and it looks correct (apart from 'Content-Disposition' being all lower case as that's was S3 ask me to sign) Then using S3 Browser I just pressed, then save without changing anything and now it works??? What am I missing how come setting a metadata 'Content-Disposition: attachment; filename=foo.bar;' from my web app does not work but does work from S3 Browser?

• How do you build a Request-Response service using Asyncore in Python?

  I have a 3rd-party protocol module (SNMP) that is built on top of asyncore. The asyncore interface is used to process response messages. What is the proper technique to design a client that generate the request-side of the protocol, while the asyncore main loop is running. I can think of two options right now: Use the loop,timeout parameters of asyncore.loop() to allow my client program time to send the appropriate request. Create a client asyncore dispatcher that will be executed in the same asyncore processing loop as the receiver. What is the best option? I'm working on the 2nd solution, cause the protocol API does not give me direct access to the asyncore parameters. Please correct me if I've misunderstood the proper technique for utilizing asyncore.

  Hi I want to perform a shrink animation on a UITableVIew. I experimented a bit and found out that the animation runs much faster when I shrink a UIImageView with an image of the current state of the tableview instead of shrinking the table view itself. I grabbed the image in a method in my main viewcontroller prior to the animation: UIGraphicsBeginImageContext(mainTableView.bounds.size); [resizeContainer.layer renderInContext:UIGraphicsGetCurrentContext()]; UIImage *viewImage = UIGraphicsGetImageFromCurrentImageContext(); UIGraphicsEndImageContext(); Works like a charm, at least almost. On very rare occasions I get weird graphic glitches, where the UIImage starts to overlap a toolbar that lies underneath it. I just want to make sure that I am getting the image in the right way. I am laking the necessary understand of GraphicContexts to be sure about it. To cut a long story short, is my code correct? Thx

  Hej everyone, problem : I am looking for right way to convert an index from clustered to non-clustered Description : I have a table as below in sybase db: dbo.UserLog Id | UserId |time | .... This is hash partitioned using UserId. Currently it has 2 indexes UserId : non-clustered time: clustered This table has about 20 million records. I now want to make UserId as clustered index and time as non-clustered index. is it correct to user alter index to change from clustered to non-clustered or do i drop index and recreate. does the fact that userId is used in hash partitioning have any implications to this? To me alter seems way to go but I have not yet tried this.

  All, I'm a little new to WCF over IIS but have done some ASMX web services before. My WCF service is up and running but the helper page generated by the web service for me has the default names, i.e. the page that says: You have created a service. To test this service, you will need to create a client and use it to call the service. You can do this using the svcutil.exe tool from the command line with the following syntax: svcutil.exe http://localhost:53456/ServicesHost.svc?wsdl In a standard ASMX site I would use method/class attributes to give the web service a name and a namespace. When I click on the link the WSDL has: <wsdl:definitions name="SearchServices" targetNamespace="http://tempuri.org/" i.e. not the WCF Service Contract Name and Namespace from my Interface. I assume the MEX is using some kind of default settings but I'd like to change them to be the correct names. How can I do this?

Now when we use Spring DAO for ORM templates, when we use @Transactional attribute, we do not have control over the transaction and/or session when the method is called externally, not within the method. Lazy loading saves resources - less queries to the db, less memory to keep all the collections fetched in the app memory. So, if lazy=false, then everything is fetched, all associated collections, that is not effectively, if there are 10,000 records in a linked set. Now, I have a method in a DAO class that is supposed to return me a User object. It has collections that represent linked tables of the database. I need to get a object by id and then query its collections. Hibernate "failed to lazily initialize a collection" exception occurs when I try to access the linked collection that this DAO method returns. Explain please, what is a workaround here?

  I have the following selectors: .progress:nth-child(3n+1) { background: teal; } .progress:nth-child(3n+2) { background: red; } .progress:nth-child(3n+3) { background: blue; } However all of the items end up with a teal background. Are these selectors correct? I'm thinking I should get: Teal (every 3, starting with 1) Red (every 3, starting with 2) Blue (every 3, starting with 3) etc. I've tested on Firefox 3.5.8 and Opera 10.10 on Ubuntu. Also tested with nothing but these rules in the CSS. I'm using the YUI Reset stylesheet but excluding it does nothing.

This does not mean run then in the ThreadPool which will just block threads while operation is being executed. The correct way is to use asynchronous API (BeginRead, BeginGetResponse, BeginExecuteReader etc). The problem is well described in CLR vi C# book. • VIM: created syntax not showing up?

  HI people I recently changed to VIM for coding in C. I'd like to hightlight the operators +-<=& ... etc I searched in google how should i do it, and i found the answer in this website: I was suppose to do something like: syntax match Operadores /[][><()&!|+*={}-]/ hi Operadores guifg=#000000 gui=BOLD Those characters were supposed to appear as black, bold characters. However, that doesn't happen when I open my .C files. However, if I create a newfile, (where there the C syntax doesn't show up), I am able to see the black, bolded operators. How can i correct this situation, and why is this happening (it seams like if my syntax is beeing overwrided by the C syntax). I'm using gvim, and this is my vimrc: colorscheme nicotine set smartindent set number set guifont=Inconsolata\ Medium\ 11 set numberwidth=5 noremap j jzz noremap k kzz Thanks, any help is appreciated. • textbox not getting refreshed

  i am doing an ajax call and i refresh a partial view. Inside the partial view i have this: <%=Html.TextBox("instance.Id", Model.Id)%> when i put a breakpoint here over Model.Id it has a number in it but after the ajax refresh is done the textbox just shows up with a 0. When i do a full browser refresh, the correct number shows up in the textbox. when i use firebug to look at data in my callback i see this: <input id="instance_Id" name="instance.Id" type="text" value="0" /> Everything else in the partial view refreshes fine. any ideas on what could be going wrong here?

  Hi All, I have the this bit of code in a VBA class which is to workout the number of days between a property of the class (a date) and today’s date. Can anyone see why this would be giving an error in a class? I have referenced atpvbaen.xls. Edit: I have found that when I run the code through a menu option I have created on the menu bar it fails, but when I run it via a button or through the VB Editor it works fine.   Hi! I cant get a PHP file to send correct headers at my WAMP server. Wouldn't be a problem normally except that is phpMyAdmin that is freaking out right now. • Displaying local images in the web browser control

  Hi, I am writing a Windows Forms application and am creating a report for users to view in the webBrowser control. The problem is that it does not seem to display an image which is situated on my local hard drive, it just display the "broken image" red cross symbol. The path of the image is correct and when I view the source code of the generated html in either Firefox or Chrome it works but not in Internet Explorer (which I presume it what is used for this webBrowser control).   Hi all, Bumped into a somewhat weird problem... I want to turn the string: a\left(b_{d}\right) into a \left( b_{d} \right) in Scite using a Lua script. So, I made the following Lua script for Scite: function SpaceTexEquations() editor:BeginUndoAction() local sel = editor:GetSelText() local cln3 = string.gsub(sel, "\\left(", " \\left( ") local cln4 = string.gsub(cln3, "\\right)", " \\right) ") editor:ReplaceSel(cln4) editor:EndUndoAction() end The cln3 line works fine, however, cln4 crashes with: /home/user/sciteLuaFunctions.lua:49: invalid pattern capture >Lua: error occurred while processing command I think this is because bracket characters () are reserved characters in Lua; but then, how come the cln3 line works without escaping? By the way I also tried: -- using backslash \ as escape char: local cln4 = string.gsub(cln3, "\\right\)", " \\right) ") -- crashes all the same -- using percentage sign % as escape chare local cln4 = string.gsub(cln3, "\\right%)", " \\right) ") -- does not crash, but does not match either Could anyone tell me what would be the correct way to do this? • Is JAX-RS suitable as a MVC framework?

  JAX-RS has some MVC support, but I wonder if JAX-RS is really a good choice to build web application for human use. If a user enters wrong or incomplete information in a form, it should be displayed again like with Grails or Wicket. Is there a comfortable way to do this with JAX-RS? As far as I know the URI mapping doesn't work correctly, if not all required parameters are given or there are type conversion problems (with Date for example). Is that correct? Is there support for internationalized templates?

• Regex question: Why isn't this matching?

  I have the following regex: (?<=\.\d+?)0+(?=\D|$) I'm running it against a string which contains the following: SVC~NU^0270~313.3~329.18~~10~~6.00: When it runs, it matches the 6.00 (correctly) which my logic then trims by one zero to turn into 6.0. The regex then runs again (or should) but fails to pick up the 6.0. I'm by no means an expert on Regex, but my understanding of my expression is that it's looking for a decimal with 1 or more optional (so, really zero or more) digits prior to one or more zeros which are then followed by any non-digit character or the line break. Assuming that interpretation is correct, I can't see why it wouldn't match on the second pass. For that matter, I'm not sure why my Regex.Replace isn't matching the full 6.00 on the first pass and removing both of the trailing zeros... Any suggestions?

  There are few things not clear to me about ASP.NET MV2. In database I have table Contacts with several fields, and there is an additional field XmlFields of which type is xml. In that field are stored additional description fields. There are 4 classes: Contact class which corresponds to Contact table and is defined by default when creating LINQ classes ContactListView class which inherits Contact class and has some additional properties ContactXmlView class that contains fields from XmlFields field ContactDetailsView class which merges ContactListView and ContactXmlView into one class and this one is used to display data in view pages ContactListView class has re-defined some properties from Contact class (so that I can add [Required] filter used for validation) - but I get warning message: 'ObjectTest.Models.Contacts.ContactListView.FirstName' hides inherited member 'SA.Model.Contact.FirstName'. Use the new keyword if hiding was intended. ContactDetailsView class is also used in a form when creating new contact and adding it to database. I am not sure if this is correct way, and the warning message confuses me a bit. Any advise about this? Thanks, Ile
