  • Streaming Flash Video Problem - Clipping

    - by Stanley
I have a simple flash video player that streams the video from a streaming media server. The stream plays fine and I have no problems with playing the video and doing simple functions. However, my problem is that on a mouse over of the video, I have the controls come up and when I do a seek or scrub on the video, I get little weird boxes that show over the video - like little pockets - of the video playing super fast (you can basically see it seeking) until it gets to the point it needs to be at and then these little boxes disappear. Is anybody else having these problems and if so, how do I fix this? I thought it might be some kind of masking problem, but I haven't been able to figure it out. Please Help!!!

  • UIWebView Page Control

    - by Jack
Hi, I would like to use a UIWebView to display some files (PDF, PPT, DOC) and would like to have the ability to scroll using external controls (ie a couple of buttons that, when pressed skip back and forward a page) and display the current page in a UITextView. Is this possible? I have no experience with javascript, but a friend of mine has suggested that this might be a useful approach. Is his suggestion valid? JP

  • SOAP UI Pro vs Fitnesse, has anybody used SOAP UI Pro?

    - by Miral
We are using Fitnesse for subsystem testing i.e. WCF & RESTful services. Now as writing Fitnesse test requires lot of effort, we are thinking of using SOAP UI Pro which gives this sort of facility. We are not 100% sure how much this is useful? Can anyone give suggestion of using SOAP UI against Fitnesse or if somebody has Pros & Cons regarding either of the thing ??

  • Generating Google Maps markers using Ruby

    - by ischnura
I would like to do a very simple task: add some markers in a Google Map using a list of addresses from an array. I have been thinking about generating the Google Maps JavaScript API code using ruby (printf) but this does not seem like a very clean and beautiful solution... I have read about YM4R for Ruby on Rails... my project is pretty simple and I have never worked with Ruby on Rails... I have also never used JQuerry... but I am very willing to learn to use this tools :) What do you think will be the best approach to generating the markers?

  • Codaset, Codebasehq, Unfuddle, Trac or Redmine?

    - by Alex
I have a handful of small Git repositories I would like to host remotely. They're all private projects, most of them in Java. Codaset, Codebasehq, Unfuddle, Trac, Redmine.. There seems to be an abundance of solutions out there. They're all packed with features and useful functionality. Putting aside pricing and the glossy layouts, what is the best way of comparing these options?

  • How do I show a user's credit based on their session

    - by Jamie
Hi all - I'm developing a simple LAMP app where users can credit their account using Paypal. I suspect this is a simple issue, but have spent quite a while experimenting to no avail and would appreciate any thoughts: System has a user management system working fine using sessions, but I can't get it to display the current user's credit. But I've been trying things along the lines of: $result = mysql_query(" SELECT * FROM users INNER JOIN account ON account.UserID=account.UserID ORDER BY account.accountID"); while($_SESSION['Username'] = $row['Username'] ) { echo $row['Username']; echo $row['Credit']; } I suspect the while statement is invalid, but I want it to echo username and credit where the current session username = the username stored in the database. Thanks so much for taking a look - very much appreciated.

  • Creating an MJPEG Viewer Iphone

    - by Tony
Hey all, Im trying to make a MJPEG viewer in Objective C but I'm having a bunch of issues with it. First off, Im using AsyncSocket(http://code.google.com/p/cocoaasyncsocket/) which lets me connect to the host. Here's what I got so far NSLog(@"Ready"); asyncSocket = [[AsyncSocket alloc] initWithDelegate:self]; //http://kamera5.vfp.slu.se/axis-cgi/mjpg/video.cgi NSError *err = nil; if(![asyncSocket connectToHost:@"kamera5.vfp.slu.se" onPort:80 error:&err]) { NSLog(@"Error: %@", err); } then in the didConnectToHost method: - (void)onSocket:(AsyncSocket *)sock didConnectToHost:(NSString *)host port:(UInt16)port{ NSLog(@"Accepted client %@:%hu", host, port); NSString *urlString = [NSString stringWithFormat:@"http://kamera5.vfp.slu.se/axis-cgi/mjpg/video.cgi"]; NSMutableURLRequest *request = [[[NSMutableURLRequest alloc] init] autorelease]; [request setURL:[NSURL URLWithString:urlString]]; [request setHTTPMethod:@"GET"]; //set headers NSString *_host = [NSString stringWithFormat:host]; [request addValue:_host forHTTPHeaderField: @"Host"]; NSString *KeepAlive = [NSString stringWithFormat:@"300"]; [request addValue:KeepAlive forHTTPHeaderField: @"Keep-Alive"]; NSString *connection = [NSString stringWithFormat:@"keep-alive"]; [request addValue:connection forHTTPHeaderField: @"Connection"]; //get response NSHTTPURLResponse* urlResponse = nil; NSError *error = [[NSError alloc] init]; NSData *responseData = [NSURLConnection sendSynchronousRequest:request returningResponse:&urlResponse error:&error]; NSString *result = [[NSString alloc] initWithData:responseData encoding:NSUTF8StringEncoding]; NSLog(@"Response Code: %d", [urlResponse statusCode]); if ([urlResponse statusCode] >= 200 && [urlResponse statusCode] < 300) { NSLog(@"Response: %@", result); //here you get the response } } This calls the MJPEG stream, but it doesn't call it to get more data. What I think its doing is just loading the first chunk of data, then disconnecting. Am I doing this totally wrong or is there light at the end of this tunnel? Thanks!

  • Creating and Indexing Email Database using SqlCe

    - by Anindya Chatterjee
I am creating a simple email client program. I am using MS SqlCe as a storage of emails. The database schema for storing the message is as follows: StorageId int IDENTITY NOT NULL PRIMARY KEY, FolderName nvarchar(255) NOT NULL, MessageId nvarchar(3999) NOT NULL, MessageDate datetime NOT NULL, StorageData ntext NULL In the StorageData field I am going to store the MIME message as byte array. But the problem arises when I am going to implement search on the stored messages. I have no idea how I am going to index the messages on top of this schema. Can anyone please help me in suggesting a good but simple schema, so that it will be effective in terms of storage space and search friendliness as well? Regards, Anindya Chatterjee

  • Installing Daemons

    - by Shahmir Javaid
Dear Stackoverflowers, A simple link would be nice for me to understand how to install my C++ program as a deamon in UNIX, now i know some will say this should be on SERVERFAULT but as far as i understand it i need the init.d shell script to actually create the start and stop for the daemons. But if you guys can show me a simple shell script for the daemon and the file directories every thing required is associated with, that would be great. I was going to do this http://www.linux.com/archive/feed/46892 but if you read the comments every one is moaning x( . P.S. ive already done the required code for C++ to run as a daemon i just need to know how to actually install it as a daemon. At the moment im using crontab which is just not a good idea for the future of my problem. Thanks in advance

  • Is there a calculator with LaTeX-syntax?

    - by Jørgen Fogh
When I write math in LaTeX I often need to perform simple arithmetic on numbers in my LaTeX source, like 515.1544 + 454 = ???. I usually copy-paste the LaTeX code into Google to get the result, but I still have to manually change the syntax, e.g. \frac{154,7}{25} - (289 - \frac{1337}{42}) must be changed to 154,7/25 - (289 - 1337/42) It seems trivial to write a program to do this for the most commonly used operations. Is there a calculator which understand this syntax? EDIT: I know that doing this perfectly is impossible (because of the halting problem). Doing it for the simple cases I need is trivial. \frac, \cdot, \sqrt and a few other tags would do the trick. The program could just return an error for cases it does not understand.

  • Are preprocessors obsolete in modern languages?

    - by Earlz
Hello, I'm making a simple compiler for a simple pet language I'm creating and coming from a C background(though I'm writing it in Ruby) I wondered if a preprocessor is necessary. What do you think? Is a "dumb" preprocessor still necessary in modern languages? Would C#'s conditional compilation capabilities be considered a "preprocessor"? Does every modern language that doesn't include a preprocessor have the utilities necessary to properly replace it? (for instance, the C++ preprocessor is now mostly obsolete(though still depended upon) because of templates.)

  • MVC in a Google App Engine Java world

    - by thatismatt
I'm coming to Java from C# & ASP.NET MVC, I'd love to find an equivalent in the Java world that I could use on the Google App Engine. I've already started to have a play with FreeMarker and even made the first steps towards writing a very simple framework. Ideally I wouldn't have to do all the hard work though, someone must have done this already! So my question is - what frameworks are there out there that would be familiar for me coming from ASP.NET MVC and I could use them on Google App Engine for Java. The key things I'd want are: Simple Routing - /products/view/1 gets mapped to the view action of the products controller with the productid of 1 Template Engine - some way of easily passing 'ViewData' to the view, and from the view easily accessing it, ideally I'd love to avoid anything that is too XMLy (thus why I like FreeMarker).

  • Is ASP.NET MVC destined to replace Webforms?

    - by johnny
I found these questions, but a couple of them were a little old: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/191556/should-i-pursue-asp-net-webforms-or-asp-net-mvc http://stackoverflow.com/questions/88787/do-you-think-asp-net-mvc-will-compete-with-asp-net-webforms http://stackoverflow.com/questions/722637/asp-net-mvc-asp-net-webforms-why I do not believe these are duplicates and might be old enough that new light can be shed. If not please close this. I know that no one framework or language is necessarily the only tool for every job. But, do you see MVC eclipsing webforms or webforms going lower on the priority list for Microsoft? They will have to keep webforms for a long time because so many have invested in it, but they don't have to keep adding new functionality for it. I don't know if this is a good example, but it reminds me of web parts. I never saw much improvement in it from Microsoft. It works and I thought it was great until I started to really try and get a lot out of it. Then from what I could see it just wasn't being pursued by Microsoft that much, though it stayed in Visual Studio. Maybe that's a bad example; just what I remembered. EDIT: Also, if anyone has any statements from Microsoft on this subject it is appreciated. No offense to anyone. I was only hoping for something official.

  • How to implement a feature: Post to a forum via email ?

    - by pixeline
I'm investigating the development of a new forum and found via user feedback that posting to the forum via their email client would be a very useful feature. I'm wondering: is it possible? Can php check for an inbox folder and turn each email into a forum post? And if so, how to do that in a LAMP environment?

  • Timezones and the DateTimeField - Django

    - by RadiantHex
Hi folks, I'm trying to implement a "time ago" feature, for the displaying of items on a site. As I'm caching the pages I wish to use javascript in order to render the "time ago". Javascript knows local time and problably the Timezone of the local machine so I could play with that, but that would require to hard code the server's timezone. Therefore I'm trying to figure out a simple way to pass a ISO 8601 timestamp, in GMT time. Is there any simple and straight forward way for doing this? Help would be much appreciated! =)

  • Why are getters prefixed with the word "get"?

    - by Joey
Generally speaking, creating a fluid API is something that makes all programmers happy; Both for the creators who write the interface, and the consumers who program against it. Looking beyond conventions, why is it that we prefix all our getters with the word "get". Omitting it usually results in a more fluid, easy to read set of instructions, which ultimately leads to happiness (however small or passive). Consider this very simple example. (pseudo code) Conventional: person = new Person("Joey") person.getName().toLower().print() Alternative: person = new Person("Joey") person.name().toLower().print() Of course this only applies to languages where getters/setters are the norm, but is not directed at any specific language. Were these conventions developed around technical limitations (disambiguation), or simply through the pursuit of a more explicit, intentional feeling type of interface, or perhaps this is just a case of trickle a down norm. What are your thoughts? And how would simple changes to these conventions impact your happiness / daily attitudes towards your craft (however minimal). Thanks.

  • How to reflect in the database a new belongs_to and has_many relationship in Ruby on Rails

    - by Ken I.
I am new to rails (usually a python guy) and have just been trying to build a simple task manager application for fun. I am using Devise for authentication and have a single Task object I am trying to relate to a user. I have added the following to the Task model: class Task < ActiveRecord::Base belongs_to :user end and I have added the following in my User model for Devise: class User < ActiveRecord::Base has_many :dreams <<normal Devise stuff>> end Whenever I added this information I then ran: rake db:migrate. It then gave me an error that the database field did not exist for user_id when I tried to do anything with it. I am sure it is something rather simple that I am missing. Thanks for the help.

  • Why is Self assignable in Delphi?

    - by mjustin
This code in a GUI application compiles and runs: procedure TForm1.Button1Click(Sender: TObject); begin Self := TForm1.Create(Owner); end; (tested with Delphi 6 and 2009) why is Self writeable and not read-only? in which situations could this be useful? Edit: is this also possible in Delphi Prism? (I think yes it is, see here) Update: Delphi applications/libraries which make use of Self assignment: python4delphi

  • MVVM in a canvas with usercontrols

    - by Mauro Destro
I have a MVVM WPF application that basically wants to be a single line diagram designer for an electrical distribution network. I have a canvas that must contains transformers, circuit breaker, lines and cables. My big problem is the design... How can i start? I think about a DesignerView, DesignerViewModel that contains an ObservableCollection of IDesignerItemViewModel that is my base class for all the element. But in this case I have to use ItemsControl to bind the content of the canvas to my collection but the pros is that I don't have to create usercontrol for each element but i'll solve most of the problems with DataTemplate (i suppose). Each element viewmodel mantain a link to a model persisted in a repository where i mantain my logical tree. Any hint about how to proceed, I have looked at many DiagramCanvas example but all of those use simple items most like simple rectangle...
