  • How to embed images in a single HTML / PHP file?

    Hi, I am creating a lightweight, single-file database administration tool and I would like to bundle some small icons with it. What is the best way to embed images in a HTML/PHP file? I know a method using PHP where I would call the same file with a GET parameter that would output hardcoded binary data with the correct header, but that seems a bit complicated. Can I use something to pass the image directly in a CSS background-image declaration? This would allow me to utilize the CSS sprite technique. Browser support isn't an issue here, so more exotic methods are welcome also. EDIT Does someone have a link/example to how to generate Data URL's properly with PHP? I'd figure echo 'data:image/png;base64,'.base64_encode(file_get_contents('image.png')) would suffice but I could be wrong.

  • Best blogging tool to integrate into an existing website

    Hi all, I'm looking for an easy way to integrate a blog into a website that I've developed with HTML and CSS and have already put a considerable amount of time and effort into. I've looked at WordPress, Movable Type, b2evolution, and a few others, but they all seem like overkill for me. I'm only going to be posting 1 maybe 2 times a week at most. Plus, all of the aforementioned tools seem hard to customize. I want my blog to look like the rest of my website, but I don't want to rebuild my site based on one of the blogging tools. Because, as I said before, I've already spent a lot of time rebuilding the site using HTML and CSS. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

  • Jquery datePicker

    I have slight issue with the jquery datepicker in that it displays ABOVE the target box. This is due to the way my page is set up. I found the issue with CSS in my page via firebug, unfortunately it conflicts with about 20 elements. Next I tried hooking into the "beforeShow event" which works but then after the event fires it just recalculates and puts it where ever it wants. beforeShow: function() { $('#ui-datepicker-div').show(); var offset = $('#ui-datepicker-div').offset(); $('#ui-datepicker-div').css({ top: (offset.top + 222) + 'px' }) } Does anyone else have any ideas how how I can reposition this?   • Screen scrape a web page that uses javaScript and frames

    Hi, I want to scrape data from www.marktplaats.nl . I want to analyze the scraped description, price, date and views in Excel/Access. I tried to scrape data with Ruby (nokogiri, scrapi) but nothing worked. (on other sites it worked well) The main problem is that for example selectorgadget and the add-on firebug (Firefox) don’t find any css I can use to scrape the page. On other sites I can extract the css with selectorgadget or firebug and use it with nokogiri or scrapi. Due to lack of experience it is difficult to identify the problem and therefore searching for a solution isn’t easy. Can you tell me where to start solving this problem and where I maybe can find more info about a similar scraping process? Thanks in advance!

    Hi, I am creating hotel booking system which requires lots of modal dialogs. For this purpose I am using jqueryUI dialog widget. yesterday I embedded it on one of the features of application but this time when dialog opens upon click then its Header is very large about 300-400px in height where as normal header is about 40px in height. Everywhere in the application it is still working fine but at only place it is giving such error. Css is also identical at all places. If anybody knows how to fix this issue then please post here.   • Using repaint() method.

    I'm still struggling to create this game : http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2844190/choosing-design-method-for-ladder-like-word-game .I've got it almost working but there is a problem though. When I'm inserting a word and it's correct, the whole window should reload, and JButtons containing letters should be repainted with different style. But somehow repaint() method for the game panel (in Main method) doesn't affect it at all. What am I doing wrong ? I keep getting a "404 page not found" no matter what I try. When I ran this tool for my app, in the YSlow grade tab it showed up a issue 'Grade F on Compress components with gzip'. Seems to be that we need to compress the files(js, css) while sending from the server to client to increase the server response time. My app is a Struts Java application. Can anyone let me know how to compress and send the front end UI files(JS,CSS) from server so that the response time increases and my pages lot fastly?   • NSScrollView jumping to bottom on scroll

    I have an NSScrollView containing an NSImageView, which resizes based on various factors. When it resizes I have generally changed the image, so I scroll the NSScrollView to the top. This works fine. However, when I start to scroll the NSScrollView again, it moves a few pixels and then (most of the time) jumps to the bottom of the scroll. After it jumps once, it works as normal until I move the scroller to the top again. This is driving me insane.   • jQuery: detecting reaching bottom of scroll doesn't work, only detects the top! :(

    Hi folks! So basically my problem is a seemingly simple one. You can see it in action at http://furnace.howcode.com (please note that data is returned via Ajax, so if nothing happens give it a few moments!). What's MEANT to happen, is in the second column when you reach the bottom of scrolling, the next 5 results are returned. But what actually happens is it only returns the 5 results when you hit the TOP of the scroll area. Try it: scroll down, nothing happens. Scroll back up to the top, the results are returned. What's going wrong? Here's my code I'm using: $('#col2').scroll(function(){ if ($('#col2').scrollTop() == $('#col2').height() - $('#col2').height()){ loadMore(); } }); loadMore(); is the function that gets the data and appends it.     I use a Json call to get a list of image addresses, then I add them individually to a div like this. <div id="container"> <img src="A.jpg" alt="" /> <img src="B.jpg" alt="" /> ... </div> Unfortunately the image dimension is not part of the Json information but I do need them for later JQuery DOM interactivity. Do any of you JQuery geniuses know of a code that would flawlessly add the width and height to the individual image elements in the container after they load? I was thinking maybe the code could wait for the images to have a width bigger than 5px then add the new width and height to the element. But I wouldn't know how to go about that and make it work stably. Thank you so much!
