  • Using repaint() method.

    - by owca
    I'm still struggling to create this game : http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2844190/choosing-design-method-for-ladder-like-word-game .I've got it almost working but there is a problem though. When I'm inserting a word and it's correct, the whole window should reload, and JButtons containing letters should be repainted with different style. But somehow repaint() method for the game panel (in Main method) doesn't affect it at all. What am I doing wrong ? Here's my code: Main: import java.util.Scanner; import javax.swing.*; import java.awt.*; public class Main { public static void main(String[] args){ final JFrame f = new JFrame("Ladder Game"); Scanner sc = new Scanner(System.in); System.out.println("Creating game data..."); System.out.println("Height: "); //setting height of the grid while (!sc.hasNextInt()) { System.out.println("int, please!"); sc.next(); } final int height = sc.nextInt(); /* * I'm creating Grid[]game. Each row of game contains Grid of Element[]line. * Each row of line contains Elements, which are single letters in the game. */ Grid[]game = new Grid[height]; for(int L = 0; L < height; L++){ Grid row = null; int i = L+1; String s; do { System.out.println("Length "+i+", please!"); s = sc.next(); } while (s.length() != i); Element[] line = new Element[s.length()]; Element single = null; String[] temp = null; String[] temp2 = new String[s.length()]; temp = s.split(""); for( int j = temp2.length; j>0; j--){ temp2[j-1] = temp[j]; } for (int k = 0 ; k < temp2.length ; k++) { if( k == 0 ){ single = new Element(temp2[k], 2); } else{ single = new Element(temp2[k], 1); } line[k] = single; } row = new Grid(line); game[L] = row; } //############################################ //THE GAME STARTS HERE //############################################ //create new game panel with box layout JPanel panel = new JPanel(); panel.setLayout(new BoxLayout(panel, BoxLayout.Y_AXIS)); panel.setBackground(Color.ORANGE); panel.setBorder(BorderFactory.createEmptyBorder(10, 10, 10, 10)); //for each row of the game array add panel containing letters Single panel //is drawn with Grid's paint() method and then returned here to be added for(int i = 0; i < game.length; i++){ panel.add(game[i].paint()); } f.setContentPane(panel); f.pack(); f.setDefaultCloseOperation(JFrame.EXIT_ON_CLOSE); f.setVisible(true); boolean end = false; boolean word = false; String text; /* * Game continues until solved() returns true. Then repaint the window. */ while( !end ){ while( !word ){ text = JOptionPane.showInputDialog("Input word: "); for(int i = 1; i< game.length; i++){ if(game[i].equalLength(text)){ if(game[i].equalValue(text)){ game[i].changeState(3); f.repaint(); //simple debug - I'm checking if letter, and //state values for each Element are proper for(int k=0; k<=i; k++){ System.out.print(game[k].e[k].letter()); } System.out.println(); for(int k=0; k<=i; k++){ System.out.print(game[k].e[k].getState()); } System.out.println(); //set word to true and ask for another word word = true; } } } } word = false; //check if the game has ended for(int i = 0; i < game.length; i++){ if(game[i].solved()){ end = true; } else { end = false; } } } } } Element: import javax.swing.*; import java.awt.*; public class Element { final int INVISIBLE = 0; final int EMPTY = 1; final int FIRST_LETTER = 2; final int OTHER_LETTER = 3; private int state; private String letter; public Element(){ } //empty block public Element(int state){ this("", 0); } //filled block public Element(String s, int state){ this.state = state; this.letter = s; } public JButton paint(){ JButton button = null; if( state == EMPTY ){ button = new JButton(" "); button.setBackground(Color.WHITE); } else if ( state == FIRST_LETTER ){ button = new JButton(letter); button.setBackground(Color.red); } else { button = new JButton(letter); button.setBackground(Color.yellow); } return button; } public void changeState(int s){ state = s; } public void setLetter(String s){ letter = s; } public String letter(){ return letter; } public int getState(){ return state; } } Grid: import javax.swing.*; import java.awt.*; public class Grid extends JPanel{ public Element[]e; private Grid[]g; public Grid(){} public Grid( Element[]elements ){ e = new Element[elements.length]; for(int i=0; i< e.length; i++){ e[i] = elements[i]; } } public Grid(Grid[]grid){ g = new Grid[grid.length]; for(int i=0; i<g.length; i++){ g[i] = grid[i]; } Dimension d = new Dimension(600, 600); setMinimumSize(d); setPreferredSize(new Dimension(d)); setMaximumSize(d); } //for Each element in line - change state to i public void changeState(int i){ for(int j=0; j< e.length; j++){ e[j].changeState(3); } } //create panel which will be single row of the game.   • jQuery - Animation Causes Div Overlap IE7

    - by Norbert
    I have a hidden div (#contactArea) above another div. When I click the link, the #contactArea opens up. When I click it again, it closes back up. It all works nicely, except in IE7. The two divs are transparent, so they overlap. I have no idea why this happens, or why doesn't it happen on other browsers. It just about feels like IE7 is right on this one. Any way to fix this? $(document).ready(function(){ $("#contactArea").css('display', 'none'); $("a.contact").toggle(function() { $("#contactArea").animate({height: "show"}, 1500, "easeOutBounce"); }, function() { $("#contactArea").animate({height: "hide"}, 1500, "easeOutBounce"); }); });

  • Best blogging tool to integrate into an existing website

    - by Brian515
    Hi all, I'm looking for an easy way to integrate a blog into a website that I've developed with HTML and CSS and have already put a considerable amount of time and effort into. I've looked at WordPress, Movable Type, b2evolution, and a few others, but they all seem like overkill for me. I'm only going to be posting 1 maybe 2 times a week at most. Plus, all of the aforementioned tools seem hard to customize. I want my blog to look like the rest of my website, but I don't want to rebuild my site based on one of the blogging tools. Because, as I said before, I've already spent a lot of time rebuilding the site using HTML and CSS. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

  • How can I use htaccess to protect a subdirectory of codeigniter installation?

    - by Art Peterson
    I have codeigniter installed at the root directory, and would like to have a subdirectory called "test" password protected using htaccess. I keep getting a "404 page not found" no matter what I try. The directory structure is: /public_html /css /images /system (codeigniter directory) /test .htaccess .htaccess .htpasswd index.php The root .htaccess file looks like: RewriteEngine On RewriteBase / Options -Indexes # Removes trailing slashes RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d RewriteRule ^(.+)/$ $1 [L,R=301] # Enforce www RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} !^(www) [NC] RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://www.mydomain.com/$1 [L,R=301] #Checks to see if the user is attempting to access a valid file, #such as an image or css document, if this isn't true it sends the #request to index.php RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !^(.*)test(.*) RewriteRule ^(.*)$ index.php?/$1 [L] The /test/.htaccess file: AuthUserFile /home/dir/.htpasswd AuthName "Protected Area" AuthType Basic <limit GET POST PUT> require user adminuser </limit> I'm not even getting the authentication prompt, just the codeigniter 404 page when I navigate to the url "http://www.mydomain.com/test/". Please advise!

  • How to avoid HTML Canvas auto-stretching

    - by Tom
    I have the following piece of HTML: <style type="text/css"> #c{width:200px;height:500px} </style> <canvas id="c"></canvas> <script type="text/javascript"> var i = new Image(); i.onload = function () { var ctx = document.getElementById('c').getContext('2d'); ctx.drawImage(i, 0, 0); } i.width = i.height = 20; // actual size of square.png i.src = 'square.png'; </script> The issue is that the drawn image is automatically stretched (resized) proportionally with the size of the canvas. I have tried using all available parameters (drawImage(i, 0, 0, 20, 20, 0, 0, 20, 20)) and that didn't help. What is causing my drawing to stretch and how can I prevent that? Thanks, Tom

  • HTML Chrome Audit Specify Image Dimensions

    - by AKRamkumar
    I just started using the chrome developer tools for some basic html websites and I used the audit tool. I had two identical images, one with the height and width attribute, and one without. On the Resources section, both the latency and the download time were identical. However, the Audit showed Specify image dimensions (1) A width and height should be specified for all images in order to speed up page display. Does this actually help? And are there any other ways to speed up page time? This is only a splash page for the website I am building and as such it is only html, no css or javascript or anything. I have already compressed the images but I want to speed up load time even more. Is there a way?

  • Screen scrape a web page that uses javaScript and frames

    - by Mello
    Hi, I want to scrape data from www.marktplaats.nl . I want to analyze the scraped description, price, date and views in Excel/Access. I tried to scrape data with Ruby (nokogiri, scrapi) but nothing worked. (on other sites it worked well) The main problem is that for example selectorgadget and the add-on firebug (Firefox) don’t find any css I can use to scrape the page. On other sites I can extract the css with selectorgadget or firebug and use it with nokogiri or scrapi. Due to lack of experience it is difficult to identify the problem and therefore searching for a solution isn’t easy. Can you tell me where to start solving this problem and where I maybe can find more info about a similar scraping process? Thanks in advance!

  • Issue with angular gradient algorithm

    - by user146780
    I have an angular gradient algorithm: GLuint OGLENGINEFUNCTIONS::CreateAngularGradient( std::vector<ARGBCOLORF> &input,POINTFLOAT start, POINTFLOAT end, int width, int height ) { std::vector<GLubyte> pdata(width * height * 4); float pi = 3.1415; float cx; float cy; float r1; float r2; float ang; float px; float py; float t; cx = start.x; cy = start.y; r1 = 0; r2 = 500; ang = end.x / 100; ARGBCOLORF color; for (unsigned int i = 0; i < height; i++) { for (unsigned int j = 0; j < width; j++) { px = j; py = i; if( px * px + py * py <= r2 * r2 && px * px + py * py >= r1 * r1 ) { t= atan2(py-cy,px-cx) + ang; t= t+ pi; if (t > 2* pi) { t=t-2*pi; t=t/(2*pi); } } //end + start color.r = (0 * t) + (120 * (1 - t)); color.g = (50 * t) + (255 * (1 - t)); color.b = (0 * t) + (50 * (1 - t)); color.a = (255 * t) + (200 * (1 - t)); pdata[i * 4 * width + j * 4 + 0] = (GLubyte) color.r; pdata[i * 4 * width + j * 4 + 1] = (GLubyte) color.g; pdata[i * 4 * width + j * 4 + 2] = (GLubyte) 12; pdata[i * 4 * width + j * 4 + 3] = (GLubyte) 255; } } It works fine except the ang variable only controls the end sweep, not the start sweep. The start sweep is always facing the middle left as seen here: http://img810.imageshack.us/img810/9623/uhoh.png Basically I have no control over the end one going this <- way. How could I control this one? Thanks

  • Javascript resizing with window.open and WebBrowser control

  • How to embed images in a single HTML / PHP file?

    - by Tatu Ulmanen
    Hi, I am creating a lightweight, single-file database administration tool and I would like to bundle some small icons with it. What is the best way to embed images in a HTML/PHP file? I know a method using PHP where I would call the same file with a GET parameter that would output hardcoded binary data with the correct header, but that seems a bit complicated. Can I use something to pass the image directly in a CSS background-image declaration? This would allow me to utilize the CSS sprite technique. Browser support isn't an issue here, so more exotic methods are welcome also. EDIT Does someone have a link/example to how to generate Data URL's properly with PHP? I'd figure echo 'data:image/png;base64,'.base64_encode(file_get_contents('image.png')) would suffice but I could be wrong.

  • NSScrollView jumping to bottom on scroll

    - by Nick Locking
    I have an NSScrollView containing an NSImageView, which resizes based on various factors. When it resizes I have generally changed the image, so I scroll the NSScrollView to the top. This works fine. However, when I start to scroll the NSScrollView again, it moves a few pixels and then (most of the time) jumps to the bottom of the scroll. After it jumps once, it works as normal until I move the scroller to the top again. This is driving me insane. All I'm really doing is this: [_imageView setImage: anNSImage]; NSRect frame; NSSize imageSize = [anNSImage] size]; frame.size = imageSize; frame.origin = NSZeroPoint; [_imageView setFrame: frame]; [[_mainScrollview contentView] scrollToPoint: NSMakePoint(0, [_imageView frame].size.height - [_mainScrollview frame].size.height)];

  • C#, WPF. Length of string that will fit in a specific width.

    - by Ian
    Hi, I'm sure I'm missing something obvious, I have an area in which I intend to draw text. I know its (the area) height and width. I wish to know how many characters/Words will fit in the width, characters preferably. Second question, If the line is too long I'll want to draw a second line, so I guess I need to get the height of the text as well, including what ever it considers the right vertical padding? I'd also rather like to know the inverse, i.e. how many characters I can fit in a specific width. I assume the fact that WPF isn't constrained to pixels will have some bearing on the answer? Ultimately I'm planning on wrapping text around irregular shaped images embedded in the text. Any pointers in the right direction would be great. Thanks

  • How to draw a rectangle in WinForm app in the correct location

    - by TooFat
    I have a WinForm app that has an image displayed in a PictureBox that has the added functionality of allowing a user to draw a rectangle on the image by clicking and dragging. The Location, Height and Width of the rectangle are saved to disk. When the image is viewed again I would like to automatically redraw that rectangle in the same position on the image. When I redraw it, however, the Height and Width are fine but the location is always off. The location is being captured in the MouseDown Event like so private void pbSample_MouseDown(object Sender, MouseEventArgs e) { if (SelectMode) { StartLocation.X = e.X; StartLocation.Y = e.Y; //later on these are saved as the location of the rectangle } } And I am redrawing it like so public void DrawSelectedArea(Rectangle rect) { Graphics g = this.PictureBox1.CreateGraphics(); Pen p = new Pen(Brushes.Black); g.DrawRectangle(p, rect); } Given the location from the MouseEventArgs captured during the MouseDown Event how can I calculate the correct location to redraw my rectangle?
