  Hi. I need a voting widget with free option value. For Example, I have a "movie" and everyone has to vote the movie from 0 to 10. The gadget has to make some statistics like "average", "top vote" ecc... I tried to found some gadget but none allow to begin the wave without previous options. However, the thing that is annoying is that this will highlight all occurrences of "search_text" after performing the operation. Is there any way that I could disable the highlight feature when performing this operation?

• Algorithm to pick values from set to match target value?

  I have a fixed array of constant integer values about 300 items long (Set A). The goal of the algorithm is to pick two numbers (X and Y) from this array that fit several criteria based on input R. Formal requirement: Pick values X and Y from set A such that the expression X*Y/(X+Y) is as close as possible to R. That's all there is to it. I need a simple algorithm that will do that. Additional info: The Set A can be ordered or stored in any way, it will be hard coded eventually. Also, with a little bit of math, it can be shown that the best Y for a given X is the closest value in Set A to the expression X*R/(X-R).   I am trying to figure Bings Seach API out. I have added the SOAP service to my solution, and I do receive results. The issue, is that the displayed results are always the same, not matter what I have set the request.Web to. When I do the search, it displays 98 results, so it isn't the lack of results. • Linear Search with Jagged Array?

  Hello, I have the following program that creates 100 random elements trough a array. Those 100 random value's are unique, and every value only gets displayed once. Although with the linear search it keeps looking up the entire array. How would i be able to get a Jagged Array into this, so it only "scans" the remaining places left? (assuming i keep the table at 100 max elements, so if one random value is generated the array holds 99 elements with linear search scans and on...) I assume i would have to implent the jagged array somewhere in the FoundLinearInArray? Hopefully this made any sence. • autocomplete: how do I avoid a duplicate search?

  I use JQuery plugin autocomplete as a kind of dataset chooser. If the user chooses a value from the autocomplete lookup, the database is queried for the matching dataset. If the user types in a new value, the user can enter a new dataset. An issue arises when the user types in an existing value rather than choosing it from the autocomplete lookup. When this is done, the autocomplete .result() method is not called and no dataset is retrieved. To fix this I added a .blur(function(){$(this).search();}); to the input element. This fixed the original problem. Now I have the problem that .result() fires on selection from lookup AND on blur. I would like .result() to fire on selection from lookup OR on blur. How do I make that happen? • Are there any NOSQL-compatible CMS projects?

  This question is partially related to an older question (Any CMS is Google App Engine compatible?) , but is slightly more general. It seems that in most CMS systems, the most fragile failure point is the database. Traditional database implementations scale poorly and will never be able to handle unforeseen spikes of traffic. Since Google App Engine was designed to help even small businesses overcome that problem, I had the same question that was asked earlier this year with less than satisfactory answers. But more generally, where are the CMS projects that support NOSQL databases? Looking over Wikipedia's list of CMS platforms, I see without much effort that only traditional RDBMS are supported by every single vendor on the list. I would have expected to see at least one or two projects handling CouchDB or similar engines. I understand the complexities of implementing a NOSQL solution to a problem that is typically solved using the relations cleanly expressed in any RDBMS, but there seems to be a rather wide market gap. Since databases are, today, easily outsourced to Google, Amazon, and others which use NOSQL models, I am amazed that there are not more projects actively pursuing this path. Am I simply not aware? Can someone please point me to projects that have real momentum that are developing on this path? I'm looking for two things: a CMS that has as its backbone a NOSQL database enabling easy database outsourcing (hosted MySQL clusters and similar solutions are not what I'm looking for) a project that is built to run on either a PaaS architecture like Google App Engine or an IaaS architecture like Amazon EC2 Any pointers in that direction would be most welcome.

  A question about 20 questions games was asked here: However, if I'm understanding it correctly, the answers seem to assume that each question will go down a hierarchal branching tree. A binary tree should work if the game went like this: Is it an animal? Yes. Is it a mammal? Yes. Is it a feline? Yes. Because feline is an example of a mammal and mammal is an example of an animal. But what if the questions go like this? Is it a mammal? Yes. Is it a predator? Yes. Does it have a long nose? No. You can't branch down a tree with those kinds of questions, because there are plenty of predators that aren't mammals. So you can't have your program just narrow it down to mammal and have predators be a subset of mammals. So is there a way to use a binary search tree that I'm not understanding or is there a different algorithm for this problem?

• Best ways to construct Dynamic Search Conditions for Sql

  I have always wondered what's the best way to achieve this task. In most web based applications you have to provide search options on many different criteria. Based on what criteria is chosen behind the scene you modify your SQL. Generally, this is how I tend to go about it:- Have a base SQL template. In the base template have conditions like this WHERE [#PRE_COND1] AND [#PRE_COND2] .. so on and so forth. So an example SQL might look something like SELECT NAME,AGE FROM PERSONS [,#TABLE2] [,#TABLE3] WHERE [#PRE_COND1] AND [#PRE_COND2] ORDER BY [#ORD_COND1] AND [#ORD_COND2] etc. During run time after figuring out the all the search criteria user has entered, I replace the [#PRE_COND1]s and [#ORD_COND1]s with the appropriate SQLs and then execute the query. I personally do not like this brute force method. However, I never came across a better approach either. How do you accomplish such tasks generally given you are either using native JDBC or Spring JDBC? It is almost like I need a C MACRO like functionality in Java to do this.

• how do you authenticate a user between two services, if they are both using a common third-party oauth service?

  I'm currently experimenting with oauth logins on a website, using google oauth2. While I set that up without too many problems, I saw that there isn't some kind of permanent token, which only google and the authorized service know about a user. Also, from what I gathered, if I were to create a companion app on android, the preferred way is to go with AccountManager, which seems to handle giving oauth2 access tokens for google accounts. But if I authenticate myself from the anroid app using a google account, how do I now link that user to the same one in the web app? One way I think this can be done if the user also logs into the web app as well, so that the server receives a fresh access token, and the android and web one are compared. But that seems like a huge hassle, and I haven't seen many other apps do that. Another is to use a refresh token on the server, but that would require extra permissions which might put off any potential visitors. So what is the general workflow for achieving this? Or am I thinking the wrong way?

• Creating an adjacency List for DFS

  I'm having trouble creating a Depth First Search for my program. So far I have a class of edges and a class of regions. I want to store all the connected edges inside one node of my region. I can tell if something is connected by the getKey() function I have already implemented. If two edges have the same key, then they are connected. For the next region, I want to store another set of connected edges inside that region, etc etc. However, I am not fully understanding DFS and I'm having some trouble implementing it. I'm not sure when/where to call DFS again.   When does JavaScript evaluate a function? Is it on page load or when the function is called? When I try the code above, it appears that my browser is still attempting to evaluate code within my require* functions even before those functions have been called. Is this correct? Or am I misunderstanding what's wrong with my code?
