  • Mounting case-sensitive shared folder in VirtualBox

    I have an OSX host with a ubuntu VM trying to mount a shared folder. I'm using the options: sudo mount -t vboxsf -o uid=1000,gid=100 pg ~/pg-host The folder mounts fine, however it appears that the mounted directory is case-insensitive, even though my OSX drive is formatted case-sensitive. Are there any options to control this behavior ?

  • grep not functioning correctly

    I've been happily using grep for many years without any issues, but since today it quit working. During the past hour I tried this and that, but enough is enough, I'm posting the bastard here: On the simplest command like grep 'aaa' file.txt I'm getting this: grep: aaa: No such file or directory So grep does not interpret the first argument as the pattern as it should, but treats it as a path. Please help me, I'm going crazy '-(

  • Is it possible to modify/rebuild an rpm without the srpm?

    I have an rpm for which I need to change the preinstal scriptlet for testing. However, I do not have the SRPM from which is was built. Is it possible to change the scriptlet and/or rebuild the rpm without having the SRPM? If so, how? I've tried using Midnight Commander (mc) to open the rpm as a directory structure and edit the contents, but even with 444 permissions, it won't let me save any changes.

    hi. im looking for a small utility that can copy files over to/from remote windows hosts, and which can take the credentials (domain user and password) as part of its command line, similar to psexec. i know i can use net use to map the target directory to a drive letter and use xcopy, and i know psexec can upload files to be executed on the remote machine and then delete them, but im looking for a small utility to distribute files to remote hosts that will not be as awkward to use as net use + xcopy

  • CPanel has two entries for site, need to use SSL one

    I have a website that is meant to be using SSL, however there are two entries in Cpanel's httpd.conf which seem to be causing an issue. When I visit just www.website.com I require it to go to https://www.website.com. However I have to write the https:// directly for the site to work. The secure site also has a different IP.     I need to download a bunch of files from a website but I don't want to have to click on each file to add it to downloadall or whatever. The structure of the website is as follows: http://something.com/katalog/?get=Exclusive/group1/2012.09.03/ The directory has loads of randomly named files with .doc extensions. I can't use the batch feature because the files don't start or end with the same characters e.g. 001...100. Any ideas/

    I'm a newbie to Xen, and I've recently installed Xen 4.2 by sources on my system.     I have one domain hosted on server domain.com, there are about 20 subdomains as addon domains there. For no good reason someone has changed (chgrp) on all files in domain.com directory to domain.com user now all websites are showing 403 forbidden access error. What should i do now to resume websites. I have tried changing php handler but no luck yet :/ php5 handler is suphp and Apache suEXEC is on....

My local machine is behind a firewall, so I can't do "scp file_on_remote user@localmachine". I know I can do "scp user@remotemachine:/directory/file ./", but I need to wander around on the remote server to pick some files to download to local machine, so this way doesn't seem too appealing to me.

    I run a .ksh containing a awk call. awk.exe and his shortcut awk is in /bin/awk, /bin is in the PATH environment variable. But when I try to launch awk, I have this error message : bash: /usr/bin/awk: no such file or directory Why didn't bash look for it in the /bin folder too? edit : tar has the same rights, tar.exe is in /bin and can be listed in /usr/bin/, the exact same way than awk. Tar works fine whereas awk not.

  • cannot find java even though it is there (ubuntu 12.04)

    I'm trying to just execute the java command and it's saying it cannot be found, even though it is there. Here's what my output looks like root@oneiric:/usr/lib/jvm/default-java/bin# ls -al java -rwxrwxrwx 1 uucp 143 5750 2012-09-20 11:14 java root@oneiric:/usr/lib/jvm/default-java/bin# ./java -su: ./java: No such file or directory So the ls shows it's there, but it doesn't seem to execute. Can someone explain why this is?

    I have a program that opens with a specific shortcut, but the shortcut seems to send parameters to the application. If I go directly to the target directory and double-click, it does not work. However, if I use the command line and pass in a certain argument, the application opens correctly. I want to open certain file types using the application, but the application must have the parameters, or it will not work. Is it possible to do this sort of thing?
