  • How can I fix my window focus problem?

    - by Ben313
I have a very frustrating bug in an application I am working on. The routine is supposed to do something in one window, and then return focus to the other at the end of the method, but when I started to use a large data set the other day, the focus stopped returning at the end. I stepped through the code one line at a time, and the errors stopped. so, i figure its a timing issue of some kind. I trace through until i find what i suspect is the culprit. A call to ShellExecute(...), that terminates an image editor i use. (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb762153(VS.85).aspx) Now, if I step past this call, and then continue to run the program, everything works fine, but if I just run past this line, the error occurs. how can this be? I have a call to SetFocus() at the very end of this method. shouldnt the program hit this no matter what? This is all so very frustrating...

  • Grouping by date, with 0 when count() yields no lines

    - by SCO
I'm using Postgresql 9 and I'm fighting with counting and grouping when no lines are counted. Let's assume the following schema : create table views { date_event timestamp with time zone ; event_id integer; } Let's imagine the following content : 2012-01-01 00:00:05 2 2012-01-01 01:00:05 5 2012-01-01 03:00:05 8 2012-01-01 03:00:15 20 I want to group by hour, and count the number of lines. I wish I could retrieve the following : 2012-01-01 00:00:00 1 2012-01-01 01:00:00 1 2012-01-01 02:00:00 0 2012-01-01 03:00:00 2 2012-01-01 04:00:00 0 2012-01-01 05:00:00 0 . . 2012-01-07 23:00:00 0 I mean that for each time range slot, I count the number of lines in my table whose date correspond, otherwise, I return a line with a count at zero. The following will definitely not work (will yeld only lines with counted lines 0). SELECT extract ( hour from date_event ),count(*) FROM views where date_event > '2012-01-01' and date_event <'2012-01-07' GROUP BY extract ( hour from date_event ); Please note I might also need to group by minute, or by hour, or by day, or by month, or by year (multiple queries is possible of course). I can only use plain old sql, and since my views table can be very big (100M records), I try to keep performance in mind. How can this be achieved ? Thank you !

  • How can I be a Guru? Is it possible? [closed]

    - by Kev
Before 1999, I heard about computer. But, I don't know what it look like. TV? Maybe! Before 2001, I only saw it in book. It looks like a TV. Before 2005, I touched it in reality. It still looks like a TV + Black Box. In 2005, I entered university. I had a cource about Mathematica.I loved programming since then. In 2006, I owned a computer. I was coding C every day. if...else..., for..., while..., switch... entered my life. Since 2007, I have learned Data Structures, Algorithms...Then, C#, Java, Python, HTML/CSS/JavaScript, F#... A lot of languages. I'm still learning new lang. Unfortunately, I only know syntax! I'm always a novice(??)! I know some guru start programming at age of 8 or 12. I admire these gurus who are compiler writers, language designers, architecture designers, Linux hackers... Is it possible to become a guru like me. If possible, how? what should I do now? Any advice? Thank you very much.

  • Value is zero after filter SQL in C#

    - by Chuki2
I`m new in C#.. I have write function to filter department. And this function will return idDepartment. New problem is, department keep value "System.Windows.Forms.Label, Text : ADMIN ", that`s why i got zero. So how can i take "ADMIN" only and keep to department? Update : public partial class frmEditStaff : Form { private string connString; private string userId, department; //Department parameter coming from here private string conString = "Datasource"; public frmEditStaff(string strUserID, string strPosition) { InitializeComponent(); //Pass value from frmListStaff to userID text box tbStaffId.Text = strUserID.ToString(); userId = strUserID.ToString(); department = strPosition.ToString(); } This code below is working, don`t have any problem. public int lookUpDepart() { int idDepart=0; using (SqlConnection openCon = new SqlConnection(conString)) { string lookUpDepartmenId = "SELECT idDepartment FROM tbl_department WHERE department = '" + department + "';"; openCon.Open(); using (SqlCommand querylookUpDepartmenId = new SqlCommand(lookUpDepartmenId, openCon)) { SqlDataReader read = querylookUpDepartmenId.ExecuteReader(); while (read.Read()) { idDepart = int.Parse(read[0].ToString()); break; } } openCon.Close(); return idDepart; } } Thanks for help. • Battery life if using GPS and background program

    - by StealthRT
I was wondering if anyone has created an app that starts in the background and utilizes the GPS to gather the current Lat and Long every minute or so? If you have, would you please provide your battery times? As in, how long does your phone last until its all out of juice from just running that background app with standard cell phone programs. I'm trying to see if it would be worth the time to create an app for myself but if i work for 8 hours and dont have a way of charging my phone during that time then i dont want to be going home and it shut down on me since my app i would create works at my house. I need the app to work since it will see when i am in range of my home (from the GPS) and then send commands to my server at the house from my phone. So thats why it would need to be able to stay in the background doing a check every 1 minute or so. Or only turn on the GPS (Is is doable with iOS? & Android?) whenever its after 5pm each day so that it will minimize the load on the battery?!? Any help or suggestions would be great! Thanks!

  • What db fits me?

    - by afvasd
Dear Everyone I am currently using mysql. I am finding that my schema is getting incredibly complicated. I seek to find a new db that will suit my needs: Let's assume I am building a news aggregrator (which collects news from multiple website). I then run algorithms to determine if two news from different sites are actually referring to the same topic. I run this algorithm to cluster news together. The relationship is depicted below: cluster \--news1 \--word1 \--word2 \--news2 \--word3 \--news3 \--word1 \--word3 And then I will apply some magic and determine the importance of each word. Summing all the importance of each word gives me the importance of a news article. Summing the importance of each news article gives me the importance of a cluster. Note that above cluster there are also subgroups( like split by region etc), and categories (like sports, etc) which I have to determine the importance of that in a particular day per se. I have used views in the past to do so, but I realized that views are very slow. So i will normally do an insert into an actual table and index them for better performance. As you can see this leads to multiple tables derived like (cluster, importance), (news, importance), (words, importance) etc which can get pretty messy. Also the "importance" metric will change. It has become increasingly difficult to alter tables, update data (which I am using TRUNCATE TABLE) and then inserting from null. I am currently looking into something schemaless like Mongodb. I do not need distributedness. I would very much want something that is reasonably fast (which can be indexed) and something that is a lot more flexible that traditional RDMBS. Also, I need something that has some kind of ORM because I personally like ORM a lot. I am currently using sqlalchemy Please help!

  • how can I cache a partial retrieved through link_to_remote in rails?

    - by Angela
I use link_to_remote to pull the dynamic contents of a partial onto the page. It's basically a long row from a database of "todo's" for the day. So as the person goes through and checks them off, I want to show the updated list with a line through those that are finished. Currently, I end up needing to click on the link_to_remote again after an item is ticked off, but would like it to redirect back to the "cached" page of to-do's but with the one item lined through. How do I do that? Here is the main view: <% @campaigns.each do |campaign| %> <!--link_to_remote(name, options = {}, html_options = nil)--> <tr><td> <%= link_to_remote(campaign.name, :update => "campaign_todo", :url => {:action => "campaign_todo", :id => campaign.id } ) %> </td></tr> <% end %> </table> <div id="campaign_todo"> </div> I'd like when the New/Create actions are done to go back to the page that redirected it there.

  • How can I make my code work in a GUI using Swing in Java?

    - by Razor Shadow
    I'm making a tool that does multiple things, and I'm onto the last feature for now: You type in a date and it tells you what day of the week it would be on that date. So I have two problems here: I can't use I can't use arguments, it doesn't like them On the last line, I can't use jTextArea2.setText(d0); because it doesn't like that either... My code is here: public static void main(String[] args) { int d = Integer.parseInt(args[0]); int m = Integer.parseInt(args[1]); int y = Integer.parseInt(args[2]); int y0 = y - (14 - m) / 12; int x = y0 + y0/4 - y0/100 + y0/400; int m0 = m + 12 * ((14 - m) / 12) - 2; int d0 = (d + x + (31*m0)/12) % 7; System.out.println("Sunday = 0\nMonday = 1\nTuesday = 2\nWednesday = 3\nThursday = 4\nFriday = 5\nSaturday = 6\nThis date is on a:"); System.out.println(d0); Basically, this code was at first for use with the console, and now I want to implement it into a Swing GUI app. I'm only a week into learning Java, so excuse me if the problem is obvious or easy to fix... But can anyone figure out how to work it? Thanks!

  • Declaring arrays in c language without initial size

    - by user2534857

  • Sqlite3 INSERT INTO Question × 377

    - by user316717
Hi, My 1st post. I am creating an exercise app that will record the weight used and the number of "reps" the user did in 4 "Sets" per day over a period of 7 days so the user may view their progress. I have built the database table named FIELDS with 2 columns ROW and FIELD_DATA and I can use the code below to load the data into the db. But the code has a sql statement that says, INSERT OR REPLACE INTO FIELDS (ROW, FIELD_DATA)VALUES (%d, '%@'); When I change the statment to: INSERT INTO FIELDS (ROW, FIELD_DATA)VALUES (%d, '%@'); Nothing happens. That is no data is recorded in the db. Below is the code: #define kFilname @"StData.sqlite3" - (NSString *)dataFilePath { NSArray *paths = NSSearchPathForDirectoriesInDomains (NSDocumentDirectory, NSUserDomainMask, YES); NSString *documentsDirectory = [paths objectAtIndex:0]; return [documentsDirectory stringByAppendingPathComponent:kFilname]; } -(IBAction)saveData:(id)sender; { for (int i = 1; i <= 8; i++) { NSString *fieldName = [[NSString alloc]initWithFormat:@"field%d", i]; UITextField *field = [self valueForKey:fieldName]; [fieldName release]; NSString *insert = [[NSString alloc] initWithFormat: @"INSERT OR REPLACE INTO FIELDS (ROW, FIELD_DATA) VALUES (%d, '%@');",i, field.text]; // sqlite3_stmt *stmt; char *errorMsg; if (sqlite3_exec (database, [insert UTF8String], NULL, NULL, &errorMsg) != SQLITE_OK) { // NSAssert1(0, @"Error updating table: %s", errorMsg); sqlite3_free(errorMsg); } } sqlite3_close(database); } So how do I modify the code to do what I want? It seemed like a simple sql statement change at first but obviously there must be more. I am new to Objective-C and iPhone programming. I am not new to using sql statements as I have been creating web apps in ASP for a number of years. Any help will be greatly appreciated, this is driving me nuts! Thanks in advance Dave

  • My iOS app has a + in its name. Bundle is invalid due to this. Need help resolving

    - by d.altman
I did find a couple of very similar or identical threads here but they seemed to end before full resolution. My app runs fine on my device with no build error. I am trying to submit app for approval and I get the following error, "This bundle is invalid. The executable name, as reported by CFBundleExecutable in the info.plist file may not contain any of these characters ..... +". So I opened my info.plist file and changed the info.plist file executable name from the macro ${EXECUTABLE_NAME} to the name of my app without the +. I did a new archive but then get an error saying the "codesign failed with exit code 1". In another thread I read to just change targets name removing the + from there and leaving the info.plist file with the macro for the executable name, restarting Xcode and then archiving again. That allowed me to archive but I received the same error in iTunes Connect. I have been working on this all day and don't find the solution. Can anyone please point me in the right direction? Thank you for any help.

  • This program isn't asking for the predetermined 5 numbers from the array?

    - by user1801781
    Okay, so this question is difficult to state. I'm a beginner at C++, and I rarely run into problems with these simple assignments, but something is majorly wrong here and I cannot identify it. I've been trying for hours. This program is supposed to read 5 numbers from an array that the user enters, and then print the largest one. (I know it's easier to just write a for-loop, but our professor wanted us to call a function). The only problem is that instead of asking for 5 numbers, it asks for 2. It works other than that, I JUST NEED IT TO ASK FOR 5 NUMBERS. haha. Your input would be greatly appreciated. I aspire to be a programmer one day, so don't be afraid to go harsh on me. #include <iostream> using namespace std; int largest_number(int score[], int max) { for (int i=1; i<5; i++) { cin >> score[i]; if(score[i] > max) max=score[i]; return (max); } } int main () { int score[5], max, z; cout << "Enter 5 numbers: " <<endl; cin >> score[0]; max = score[0]; z = largest_number(score, max); cout << "The largest number is: " << z <<endl; system("pause"); return 0; }

  • Issues with an image link

    - by user1462362
Two days ago I spontaneously bought myself a domain. The day before that, I hardly even knew what a domain really was. Since then, I've been trying to teach myself HTML for the very first time. Basically what I'm trying to say is, I'm very new - and will probably be poor in my explanations. I just succeeded in making an 'image-button', sorta. It's where I make a button-like image and then use it as navigation on my website (just like a regular link). My issue is that the link 'border' itself is bigger than the image, so you can press an inch outside the image itself and it will work. How do I make the invisible link 'border' the same size as the button? This is my site: http://www.djeveln.com On the test page (djeveln.com/test) is where I test things. There's the button I'm talking about, in case you can't understand my explanation very well. Here's my HTML: Here is the CSS I use for the image position and size: img.TestButton { /* Dette linker til selve størrelsen av knappen (bildet)*/ position: absolute; width: 100px; height: 75px; top: 400px; right: 250px; } Hope you can help me! :P

  • How to distribute ranking using MySQL Query and PHP

    - by nkp
I have to distribute ranking to the 5000 students in an exam. Ranking is based on the score and the time taken (in seconds) to obtain that score. For example is 5 students have same score, then taken will be the criteria to calculate their ranks otherwise score should be the criteria to calculate their ranks. Following is my table tbRank ID StudID Score Time Date Rank 1 11 8 60 09-11-2013 2 22 6 45 09-11-2013 3 33 4 76 09-11-2013 4 44 6 67 09-11-2013 5 55 8 35 09-11-2013 6 66 8 35 08-11-2013 7 77 8 39 08-11-2013 Now rank column in above table should be updated as: ID StudID Score Time Date Rank 1 11 8 60 09-11-2013 2 2 22 6 45 09-11-2013 3 3 33 4 76 09-11-2013 5 4 44 6 67 09-11-2013 4 5 55 8 35 09-11-2013 1 6 66 8 35 08-11-2013 1 7 77 8 39 08-11-2013 2 I want to make a MySQL Query to do this business. Similarly there can be more than 10000 records in the table. So I need an optimized query for this functionality. Note: I am using PHP and MYSQL. Update: Everyday almost 5000 new entries will be created in the table and after all insertions are made, rank column will be updated once in a day. Now please suggest me the best way to do this. If I update rank column in the table, then only once I will have to do it, otherwise everytime while fetching the rank of the student, I will have to make calculations.

  • How to separate date in php

    - by user225269
I want to be able to separate the birthday from the mysql data into day, year and month. Using the 3 textbox in html. How do I separate it? I'm trying to think of what can I do with the code below to show the result that I want: Here's the html form with the php code: $idnum = mysql_real_escape_string($_POST['idnum']); mysql_select_db("school", $con); $result = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM student WHERE IDNO='$idnum'"); $month = mysql_real_escape_string($_POST['mm']); ?> <?php while ( $row = mysql_fetch_array($result) ) { ?> <tr> <td width="30" height="35"><font size="2">Month:</td> <td width="30"><input name="mo" type="text" id="mo" onkeypress="return handleEnter(this, event)" value="<?php echo $month = explode("-",$row['BIRTHDAY']);?>"> As you can see the column is the mysql database is called BIRTHDAY. With this format: YYYY-MM-DD How do I do it. So that the data from the single column will be divided into three parts? Please help thanks,

  • Is it possible to create a timer in jscript that you can manually change without it being affected by timezones?

    - by Lixorp
is it possible to create a timer where I can manually set the hours each day to a set number of hours but still remains accurate? For example; if I set the countdown for 5 hours at 2pm I want the timer to stop as soon as it hits 7pm. Also, when I set the timer for 5 hours I would like everyone in the world to see it countdown from 5 hours, no matter what the time is in their country. In the format: days hours minutes seconds. The reason I want to do this is for a streamer's website. He needs a flexible timer which can be manually changed and is the same worldwide for his viewers to know when he starts streaming. The current timer we're using at the moment; setInterval(function(){ var currentTime = new Date(); if(currentTime.getHours() > 19){ var countdownHours = (24 - currentTime.getHours()) + 19; }else if(currentTime.getHours() < 19){ var countdownHours = 19 - currentTime.getHours(); }else{ var countdownHours = 0; } var countdownMins = 59 - currentTime.getMinutes(); var countdownSecs = 60 - currentTime.getSeconds(); $('#countdown-days h1').text('0'); $('#countdown-hours h1').text(countdownHours); $('#countdown-minutes h1').text(countdownMins); $('#countdown-seconds h1').text(countdownSecs); }, 1000); As you can tell it isn't ideal for what we need it for since it counts down to 7pm in the timezone you're in. Any help/examples would be greatly appreciated, Thank you in advance, Lixorp.

  • MySql: Is it reasonable to use 'view' or I would better denormalize my DB?

    - by Budda
There is 'team_sector' table with following fields: Id, team_id, sect_id, size, level It contains few records for each 'team' entity (referenced with 'team_id' field). Each record represent sector of team's stadium (totally 8 sectors). Now it is necessary to implement few searches: by overall stadium size (SUM(size)); the best quality (SUM(level)/COUNT(*)). I could create query something like this: SELECT TS.team_id, SUM(TS.size) as OverallSize, SUM(TS.Level)/COUNT(TS.Id) AS QualityLevel FROM team_sector GROUP BY team_id ORDER BY OverallSize DESC / ORDER BY QualityLevel DESC But my concern here is that calculation for each team will be done each time on query performed. It is not too big overhead (at least now), but I would like to avoid performance issues later. I see 2 options here. The 1st one is to create 2 additional fields in 'team' table (for example) and store there OverallSize and QualityLevel fields. If information if 'sector' table is changed - update those table too (probably would be good to do that with triggers, as sector table doesn't change too often). The 2nd option is to create a view that will provide required data. The 2nd option seems much easier for me, but I don't have a lot of experience/knowledge of work with views. Q1: What is the best option from your perspective here and why? Probably you could suggest other options? Q2: Can I create view in such way that it will do calculations rarely (at least once per day)? If yes - how? Q3: Is it reasonable to use triggers for such purpose (1st option). P.S. MySql 5.1 is used, overall number of teams is around 1-2 thousand, overall number of records in sector table - overall 6-8 thousand. I understand, those numbers are pretty small, but I would like to implement the best practice here.

  • IE7 li with image and text issue - Text . Almost working.

    - by jmoore111
I'm using an unordered list. With an image to the left and text to the right. I only noticed today that IE7 was displaying this so badly that it wasn't even acceptable. Woops for not realising sooner. I have the given the image a class and the text wrapped in a seperate div. <ul> <li><a href="domain"><img src="http://www.domain.com/img.jpg" alt="img class="footer-thumb" width="40px" height="40px" /></a> <div class="recent-post-content"> <p>day date time</p> <p><a title="Content title" href="http://www.domain.com/contentitle &raquo;</a></p> </div></li></ul> What's happeninig so far is that it is perfect in every browser except in IE7 where the images are exactly where they should be but the class "recent-post-content" is all pushed up one exactly one image ([li] height) above so the last image doesn't have any text beside it and the first image ([li]) has its "recent-post-content" above it. I guess it's something simple but after getting this far on my own I thought it best to try and get some advice to fix the last little bit. Any ideas? Thanks

  • navigation li to create <span></span> around text via jquery

    - by MikesEpitaphSays
I've been trying all day and reading a few things, but for some reason my code isn't working right What i'm trying to achieve is this: When i create an un ordered list in my index page - I want my jquery to automatically add around the text in the anchor. So i want it to look like this <li><a href="index.htm"><span>Home</span></a></li> while I am only adding: <li><a href="index.htm">Home</a></li> I want to do this because i have a LOT of list items and instead of writing when i'm adding pages it makes the most sense to save some time in the long run and create a loop that will handle that anytime i add one. This is What i have so far (sorry if it looks ugly): $('document').ready(function () { var begSpan = "<span>"; var endSpan = "</span>"; $('p').each(function () { $(this) prepend(begSpan); }).append(endSpan); }); How can i get that to auto create span tags for me

  • Cannot translate date formats from rails form to mysql db

    - by Steve
I have a simple search form in rails 3 that has two date fields. I'm having a problem getting these dates into my mysql db. I've tried using the american_date gem, specifying date formats in my initializers, in the config/locales/en.yml file, and directly on the date on the date fields themselves. Currently, I'm setting the rails-approved date format in the view - <%= f.text_field :depart_date, :value=> Date.today.strftime('%Y-%m-%d') %> The dateformat in my DB is also YYYY-mm-dd, so things should be going smoothly. The console tells me that the two date fields are both class = "Date" I think I've found the disconnect. From the logs - Started POST "/searches" for 127.0.0.1 at 2013-10-30 17:43:26 -0400 Processing by SearchesController#create as HTML Parameters: {"utf8"=>"v","search"=>{"depart_date"=>"2013-10-30", "return_date"=>"2013-11-09"} ?[1m?[35m (0.0ms)?[0m BEGIN ?[1m?[36mSQL (0.0ms)?[0m ?[1mINSERT INTO `searches` (`depart_date`,`return_date`) VALUES ('2013-30-10','2013-09-11')?[0m ?[1m?[35m (2.0ms)?[0m COMMIT Note that the month and day values are switched in the insert statement. How can I prevent this from happenening?

  • Prevent cached objects to end up in the database with Entity Framework

    - by Dirk Boer
We have an ASP.NET project with Entity Framework and SQL Azure. A big part of our data only needs to be updated a few times a day, other data is very volatile. The data that barely changes we cache in memory at startup, detach from the context and than use it mainly for reading, drastically lowering the amount of database requests we have to do. The volatile data is requested everytime by a DbContext per Http request. When we do an update to the cached data, we send a message to all instances to catch a fresh version of all the data from the SQL server. So far, so good. Until we introduced a bug that linked one of these 'cached' objects to the 'volatile' data, and did a SaveChanges. Well, that was quite a mess. The whole data tree was added again and again by every update, corrupting the whole database with a whole lot of duplicated data. As a complete hack I added a completely arbitrary column with a UniqueConstraint and some gibberish data on one of the root tables; hopefully failing the SaveChanges() next time we introduce such a bug because it will violate the Unique Constraint. But it is of course hacky, and I'm still pretty scared ;P Are there any better ways to prevent whole tree's of cached objects ending up in the database? More information Project is ASP.NET MVC I cache this data, because it is mainly read only, and this saves a tons of extra database calls per http request

  • Program that edits string and prints each word individually with C

    - by Michael_19
I keep getting the error segmentation fault (core dumped) when I run my progam. #include<stdio.h> #include<stdlib.h> int nextword(char *str); int main(void) { char str[] = "Hello! Today is a beautiful day!!\t\n"; int i = nextword(str); while(i != -1) { printf("%s\n",&(str[i])); i = nextword(NULL); } return 0; } int nextword(char *str) { // create two static variables - these stay around across calls static char *s; static int nextindex; int thisindex; // reset the static variables if (str != NULL) { s = str; thisindex = 0; // TODO: advance this index past any leading spaces while (s[thisindex]=='\n' || s[thisindex]=='\t' || s[thisindex]==' ' ) thisindex++; } else { // set the return value to be the nextindex thisindex = nextindex; } // if we aren't done with the string... if (thisindex != -1) { nextindex = thisindex; // TODO: two things // 1: place a '\0' after the current word // 2: advance nextindex to the beginning // of the next word while (s[nextindex] != ' ' && s[nextindex] != '\0') nextindex++; str[nextindex] = '\0'; nextindex++; } return thisindex; } The goal of the program is to print each word in the string str[] to the console on a new line. I am a beginning programmer and this is an assignment so I must use this type of format (no string library allowed). I just would like to know where I went wrong and how I can fix it.

  • Installing the Updated XP Mode which Requires no Hardware Virtualization

    - by Mysticgeek
Good news for those of you who have a computer without Hardware Virtualization, Microsoft had dropped the requirement so you can now run XP Mode on your machine. Here we take a look at how to install it and getting working on your PC. Microsoft has dropped the requirement that your CPU supports Hardware Virtualization for XP Mode in Windows 7. Before this requirement was dropped, we showed you how to use SecureAble to find out if your machine would run XP Mode. If it couldn’t, you might have gotten lucky with turning Hardware Virtualization on in your BIOS, or getting an update that would enable it. If not, you were out of luck or would need a different machine. Note: Although you no longer need Hardware Virtualization, you still need Professional, Enterprise, or Ultimate version of Windows 7. Download Correct Version of XP Mode For this article we’re installing it on a Dell machine that doesn’t support Hardware Virtualization on Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit version. The first thing you’ll want to do is go to the XP Mode website and select your edition of Windows 7 and language. Then there are three downloads you’ll need to get from the page. Windows XP Mode, Windows Virtual PC, and the Windows XP Mode Update (All Links Below). Windows genuine validation is required before you can download the XP Mode files. To make the validation process easier you might want to use IE when downloading these files and validating your version of Windows. Installing XP Mode After validation is successful the first thing to download and install is XP Mode, which is easy following the wizard and accepting the defaults. The second step is to install KB958559 which is Windows Virtual PC.   After it’s installed, a reboot is required. After you’ve come back from the restart, you’ll need to install KB977206 which is the Windows XP Mode Update.   After that’s installed, yet another restart of your system is required. After the update is configured and you return from the second reboot, you’ll find XP Mode in the Start menu under the Windows Virtual PC folder. When it launches accept the license agreement and click Next. Enter in your log in credentials… Choose if you want Automatic Updates or not… Then you’re given a message saying setup will share the hardware on your computer, then click Start Setup. While setup completes, you’re shown a display of what XP Mode does and how to use it. XP Mode launches and you can now begin using it to run older applications that are not compatible with Windows 7. Conclusion This is a welcome news for many who want the ability to use XP Mode but didn’t have the proper hardware to do it. The bad news is users of Home versions of Windows still don’t get to enjoy the XP Mode feature officially. However, we have an article that shows a great workaround – Create an XP Mode for Windows 7 Home Versions & Vista. I have been working with MySQL for quite a while and just like SQL Server, I often find lots of people asking me if I have a tutorial which can teach them MySQL from the beginning. Here is the good news, I have written two different courses on MySQL Fundamentals, which is available online. The reason for writing two different courses was to keep the learning simple. Both of the courses are absolutely connected with other but designed if you watch either of the course independently you can watch them and learn without dependencies. However, if you ask me, I will suggest that you watch MySQL Fundamentals Part 1 course following with MySQL Fundamentals Part 2 course. Let us quickly explore outline of MySQL courses. MySQL Fundamental – 1 (157 minutes) MySQL is a popular choice of database for use in web applications, and is a central component of the widely used LAMP open source web application software stack. This course covers the fundamentals of MySQL, including how to install MySQL as well as written basic data retrieval and data modification queries.
