• Inheritance mapping with Fluent NHibernate

  Below is an example of how I currently use automapping overrides to set up a my db representation of inheritance. It gets the job done functionality wise BUT by using some internal default values. For example, the discriminator column name winds up being the literal value 'discriminator' instead of "ActivityType, and the discriminator values are the fully qualified type of each class, instead of "ACCOUNT" and "PROJECT". I am guessing that this is a bug that doesn't get much attention now that conventions are preferred, and that the convention approach works correctly. I am looking for a sample of usage.   This is really odd... I run my app, and while it is opening and the views are constructing I get: Collection <CALayerArray: 0x124650> was mutated while being enumerated. The weird thing is that I'm not creating any other threads (that I know of) until after this code all gets called. It'll be easier for me to debug this if someone can give me some explanation of what might be getting modified while it's being accessed in a UIView. Does it have something to do with adding something to the view while it's already adding something, maybe? Any ideas?

• How to create a rails staging environment in engineyard?

  I have a production instance in engineyard up and running well. I would like to create a new staging instance for internal testing. I cloned the existing production instance, changed Framework Environment to staging. I can deploy all the code to staging instance from Github. Engineyard reported the server is fully configured and ready. I have subdomain-fu in my Rails app, as I have some subdomain handling in my app. I set the subdomain initializer like this.... SubdomainFu.tld_sizes = {:development => 1, :test => 0, :production => 1, :staging => 2} As the production instance is using the domain xxxxx.com, I would like my staging instance use the domain staging.xxxxx.com. But I got an error when open this domain. Seems the app use xxxxx.com as domain but not the staging.xxxxx.com. I checked the engineyard database.yml. It use xxxxx_production database, I supposed it should be xxxxx_staging. Seems the engineyard instance is not set to staging environment, but just clone all the setting from production server. Does anyone have experience with this and can show me the way on how to fix it? Thanks. :)

  How do I log from within my web application deployed on Tomcat 6? Where should I expect the logging output to go (internal tomcat log files, or will another logfile be generated)? I see a ton of documentation but am having a hard time finding a direct answer to the above questions. Where should I expect the logging to show up (currently it is log4j is not generating a log file and it is not showing up in my console). • Preventing Processes From Spawning Using .NET Code

  I remember coming across an article on I think CodeProject quite some time ago regarding an antivirus or antimalware some guy was writing where he hooked into the Windows API to be able to catch whenever a new process was started and was prompting he user before allowing the process to start. I can no longer find the article, and would actually like to be able to implement something like this. Currently, we have a custom browser built on Gecko that we've integrated access restrictions to sites based on our internal employee security levels, etc. We prevent any other browser from running with a timer and a call to Process.GetProcessesByName() from a list of the browsers we don't allow. What we want to accomplish is, instead of just blocking these browsers, where there is a small delay between the other browser starting and it being killed by our service, we'd like to be able to display a dialog instead of the process launching at all, explaining that the program isn't in the allowed list. This way, we can generate a list of "allowed" processes and just block everything else (we haven't yet had a problem with outside apps being installed, but you can never be too careful). Unfortunately, we don't do much Windows API programming from C#, so I'm not sure where to begin looking for what calls we need to hook. Even just a starting point of what to read up on would be helpful.

• PJSIP Custom Registration Header (iOS)

  I am attempting to setup SIP communication with an internal server (using the PJSIP library), however, this server requires a custom header field with a specified header value for the REGISTRATION call. For example's sake we'll call this required header "MyHeader". From what I've found, the pjsua_acc_add() function will add an account and register it to the server using a config struct. The parameter "reg_hdr_list" of the config struct has the description "The optional custom SIP headers to be put in the registration request." Which sounds like exactly what I need, however doesn't seem to have any effect on the call itself. Here's what I have so far: pjsua_acc_config cfg; pjsua_acc_config_default(&cfg); //...Some other config stuff related to the server... pjsip_hdr test; test.name = pj_str("MyHeader"); test.sname = pj_str("MyHdr"); test.type = PJSIP_H_OTHER; test.prev = cfg.reg_hdr_list.prev; test.next = cfg.reg_hdr_list.next; cfg.reg_hdr_list = test; pj_status_t status; status = pjsua_acc_add(&cfg, PJ_TRUE, &acc_id); From the server side, there are no extra header fields or anything. And the struct that is used to define the header (pjsua_hdr) has no "value" or equivalent field, so even if it did create the header, how does it set the value? • What makes these two R data frames not identical?

  UPDATE: I remembered dput() about the time Sharpie mentioned it. It's probably the row names. Back in a moment with an answer. I have two small data frames, this_tx and last_tx. They are, in every way that I can tell, completely identical. this_tx == last_tx results in a frame of identical dimensions, all TRUE. this_tx %in% last_tx, two TRUEs. Inspected visually, clearly identical. But when I call identical(this_tx, last_tx) I get a FALSE. Hilariously, even identical(str(this_tx), str(last_tx)) will return a TRUE. If I set this_tx <- last_tx, I'll get a TRUE. What is going on? I don't have the deepest understanding of R's internal mechanics, but I can't find a single difference between the two data frames. If it's relevant, the two variables in the frames are both factors - same levels, same numeric coding for the levels, both just subsets of the same original data frame. Converting them to character vectors doesn't help. Background (because I wouldn't mind help on this, either): I have records of drug treatments given to patients. Each treatment record essentially specifies a person and a date. A second table has a record for each drug and dose given during a particular treatment (usually, a few drugs are given each treatment). I'm trying to identify contiguous periods during which the person was taking the same combinations of drugs at the same doses. The best plan I've come up with is to check the treatments chronologically. If the combination of drugs and doses for treatment[i] is identical to the combination at treatment[i-1], then treatment[i] is a part of the same phase as treatment[i-1]. Of course, if I can't compare drug/dose combinations, that's right out.

Scala signature Predef has wrong version Expected 5.0 found: 4.1 in .... scala-library.jar I tried both versions 2.7.6 and 2.8 RC1 of scala-*.jar, the result was the same. JDK is 1.6.u20. UPDATE Today uninstalled IntelliJ 9.0.1, and installed 9.0.2 Early Availability, with the 4/14 stable version of the Scala plug-in. • How can I enable PHP5 for a site? Having problems with every single method.

  I'm working on a client site that is hosted on someone's DIY Debian Linux server [Apache/1.3.33 (Debian GNU/Linux)], and I'm trying to install a script that requires PHP5. By default, the server parses .php files with PHP 4.3.10-22, which is configured at /etc/php4/apache/php.ini, according to phpinfo(). On the server I can see a config directory for PHP5 adjacent to the PHP4 directory: /etc/php5.0/apache2/php.ini. I have tried multiple methods to enable PHP5 for the document root where the site's files are hosted, including all available methods mentioned here. By far, the most common suggestion I've found is to add one or both of the following lines to the site's .htaccess file: AddHandler application/x-httpd-php5 .php AddType application/x-httpd-php5 .php Trouble is, when either or both of those lines are present, the site forces my browser to download any .php files requested, without parsing the PHP at all. All of the other methods mentioned in the above article cause a 500 Internal Server Error. There is no hosting control panel I can access in a browser to enable PHP5 for the site, but I do have shell access. When I asked the server administrator about this issue, he encouraged me to search for the answer on Google. Where could I begin to troubleshoot this issue? Are there ways to test or verify the server's specific PHP5 installation and configuration, using the command line or some other method? Do you have other suggestions to enable PHP5?

  Hi, I'm new to WPF and I have some difficulties when I'm trying to populate a ListView with a list of custom objects. internal class ApplicationCode { public int Code { get; set; } public IEnumerable<string> InstrumentCodes { get; set; } } I have a list of ApplicationCode which I set to ItemsSource to a ListView. I need to display the ApplicationCode.Code as a string and for the rest of the columns a check box which can be checked/unchecked depending if the column name is contained in the InstrumentCodes collection. In order to set the check box I use a converter on databinding: <DataTemplate x:Key="InstrumentCodeTemplate"> <CheckBox IsEnabled="False" IsChecked="{Binding Mode=OneTime, Converter={StaticResource InstrumentSelectionConverter}}" /> </DataTemplate> The problem I have is because I can't know which is the current column at the time of cell data binding and I can't set the ConverterParameter. public object Convert(object value, Type targetType, object parameter, CultureInfo culture) { ApplicationCode appCode = value as ApplicationCode; return appCode != null && appCode.InstrumentCodes.Contains(parameter.ToString()); } There is a way to find out the column index or name? • Wrappers/law of demeter seems to be an anti-pattern...

  I've been reading up on this "Law of Demeter" thing, and it (and pure "wrapper" classes in general) seem to generally be anti patterns. Consider an implementation class: class Foo { void doSomething() { /* whatever */ } } Now consider two different implementations of another class: class Bar1 { private static Foo _foo = new Foo(); public static Foo getFoo() { return _foo; } } class Bar2 { private static Foo _foo = new Foo(); public static void doSomething() { _foo.doSomething(); } } And the ways to call said methods: callingMethod() { Bar1.getFoo().doSomething(); // Version 1 Bar2.doSomething(); // Version 2 } At first blush, version 1 seems a bit simpler, and follows the "rule of Demeter", hide Foo's implementation, etc, etc. But this ties any changes in Foo to Bar. For example, if a parameter is added to doSomething, then we have: class Foo { void doSomething(int x) { /* whatever */ } } class Bar1 { private static Foo _foo = new Foo(); public static Foo getFoo() { return _foo; } } class Bar2 { private static Foo _foo = new Foo(); public static void doSomething(int x) { _foo.doSomething(x); } } callingMethod() { Bar1.getFoo().doSomething(5); // Version 1 Bar2.doSomething(5); // Version 2 } In both versions, Foo and callingMethod need to be changed, but in Version 2, Bar also needs to be changed. Can someone explain the advantage of having a wrapper/facade (with the exception of adapters or wrapping an external API or exposing an internal one).

• Detecting Xml namespace fast

  Hello there, This may be a very trivial problem I'm trying to solve, but I'm sure there's a better way of doing it. So please go easy on me. I have a bunch of XSD files that are internal to our application, we have about 20-30 Xml files that implement datasets based off those XSDs. Some Xml files are small (<100Kb), others are about 3-4Mb with a few being over 10Mb. I need to find a way of working out what namespace these Xml files are in order to provide (something like) intellisense based off the XSD. The implementation of this is not an issue - another developer has written the code for this. But I'm not sure the best (and fastest!) way of detecting the namespace is without the use of XmlDocument (which does a full parse). I'm using C# 3.5 and the documents come through as a Stream (some are remote files). All the files are *.xml (I can detect if it was extension based) but unfortunately the Xml namespace is the only way. Right now I've tried XmlDocument but I've found it to be innefficient and slow as the larger documents are awaiting to be parsed (even the 100Kb docs). public string GetNamespaceForDocument(Stream document); Something like the above is my method signature - overloads include string for "content". Would a RegEx (compiled) pattern be good? How does Visual Studio manage this so efficiently? Another college has told me to find a fast Xml parser in C/C++, parse the content and have a stub that gives back the namespace as its slower in .NET, is this a good idea?

• How to call a new thread from button click

  Hi, I'm trying to call a thread on a button click (btn_more) but i cant get it right. The thread is to get some data and update the images. The problem i have is if i only update 4 or 5 images then it works fine. But if i load more than 5 images i will get a force close. At times when the internet is slow I will face the same problem too. Can please help me to solve this problem or provide me some guidance? • Silverlight WCF service consuming inherited types in datacontract

  Hi, Im trying to consume a WCF service in silverlight... What I have done is to create two seperate assemblies for my datacontracts... Assembly that contains all of my types marked with data contracts build against .Net 3.5 A Silverlight assembly which links to files in the 1st assembly. This means my .Net app can reference assembly 1 and my silverlight app assembly 2. This works fine and I can communicate across the service. The problems occur when I try to transfer inherited classed. I have the following class stucture... IFlight - an interface for all types of flights. BaseFlight : IFlight - a baseflight flight implements IFlight AdhocFlight : BaseFlight, IFlight - an adhoc flight inherits from baseflight and also implements IFlight. I can successfully transfer base flights across the service. However I really need to be able to transfer objects of IFlight across the interface as I want one operation contract that can transfer many types of flight... public IFlight GetFlightBooking() { AdhocFlight af = new AdhocFlight(); return af; } ... should work I think? However I get the error: "The server did not provide a meaningful reply; this might be caused by a contract mismatch, a premature session shutdown or an internal server error." Any ideas would be appreciated.
