    We have IIS7 on windows 2008 and we installed verisign certificate and bound it to https. Certificate seems fine. Chain: mysite.com - not expired VeriSign international server CA class 3 - not expired Verisign Class 3 Public primary certification Authority - not expired Yet when I use verisign online validation, I get that second certificate is expired. https://knowledge.verisign.com/support/ssl-certificates-support/index?page=content&id=AR1130# This is what it reports, mysite is reported to be ok: ---------------- --Issued To-- Organization: VeriSign Trust Network Organizational Unit: www.verisign.com/CPS Incorp.by Ref.   • Local User & Local Admin User Server 2008

    Hi I had a test recently and one of the questions was to create a file and local user and give the local user write permission to that file. I created the local user successfully however when I went to add permission to the file it would not find the local user when name was entered correctly, and idea what could have prevented this. Secondly I was asked to create a local admin account and give full permissions to the file, to my knowledge server 2008 has a built in admin account, and neither was the server a domain controller. Could you tell me what you would do in this situation? Many Thanks!

    we have a few web servers and am planning to create a dashboard to show the real time stats ip address,geo-location and other custom data based on database lookups. Splunk sort of fits perfectly but wondering if there are any open source alternative . i have looked at logstash and graylog2, but to my knowledge they are more of a log analysis tools. Piwik is sort of interesting except that i cannot put any javascript on the webpages. All i have access to is apache web log. Any recommendations please..

  • Modern monitor technologies - need to find a new monitor

    I'm preparing to change my old LCD monitor for a new one. I have an old NEC 20WGX2 Pro based on an IPS panel. I'm looking for a screen that gives good color output but is very good at gaming at the same time (since it is its primary service). I tend to switch monitors between my different computers at home so it has to be multi purpose, hence IPS technology before. Now, where can I read on newest monitor technologies so I can make an informed decision? I need to find a best fit for myself and I have a very outdated knowledge at the moment. So any hints are greatly appreciated, be it info on technologies, web sources, links to other questions, etc.

  • Automate configuration change on Outlook 2007

    I am migrating a bunch of mailboxes to google apps. Each user owns several mailboxes each serving different domains (john has [email protected], [email protected], and so on...) Currently, those accounts are hosted on (edit:NOT an exchange server) an old SMTP/POP server we want to replace, and I need to edit their outlook 2007 configuration to change the pop, smtp and password parameters. The hard way to do it is to connect to each outlook session and edit the parameters manually. I want to avoid that. Because that represents over 700 accounts spread between 40 users... :'( How can I automate this configuration change ? In the active directory ? Using a PRF file ? note: I'm a linux sysadmin with very little knowledge of windows's black magic.

  • Wireless technology - which is better: more single radio APs or less dual radio APs?

    We are currently talking to vendors of wireless solutions for a wireless deployment in a university campus with some 5000 students. One vendor is offering us a Cisco solution with a WLC 5508 controller and 69 2x2 MIMO Dual-band/Dual radio APs (Aironet AP 1042 model) The other vendor is offering us an Aruba solution with a 3600 controller and 96 2x2 MIMO dual band BUT single radio APs (Aruba AP93) Both vendors are charging 82.000 US$ (support, 3y service contracts, switches and additional required options all included of course) The Aruba vendor is trying to convince me that 96 single radio APs will give us more connection/users/capacity then the 69 dual radio APs. I have my doubts about that and since it is my core competence-domain I wanted to ask here the opinion of people that have a more profound knowledge and experience in this area. When you talk to vendors it's often hard to get objective information. So try to answer only if you are sure and please mention it if you are affiliated with one of the vendors.   • Virus blocking incoming connections ?

    Hello, on my windows 2003 server, all incoming connections are dropped. I can see them getting in using Wireshark, but even a single ping from another computer fails. All locally initiated connection work fine (i'm asking from the server). This server is the DC/DHCP/DNS/File server, so computer clients are in the dark. I've run varius antivirus and removal tools without any luck. The Windows Firewall is disabled. I'm wild-guessing at some virus/worm. How can i check why these incoming ICMP/TCP SYN/etc are dropped ? Anyone has any knowledge about such situations ? Thanks.

    I have been googeling for days! I have a cert from rapidssl. I read up that the problem with num=20, is that indicates it doesn't know the issuer, or doesn't know the ROOT Cert, right? I run this command: openssl s_client -showcerts -connect smtp.server.com:465 I get this error: verify error:num=19:self signed certificate in certificate chain Here is what i have in my postfix main.cf, and what i have done: smtpd_tls_key_file = /etc/postfix/ssl/smtp.server.com.rsa.key (this is the private key) smtpd_tls_cert_file = /etc/postfix/ssl/smtp.server.com.PUBLIC.key (this is the public key given to me by rapidssl) smtpd_tls_CAfile = /etc/postfix/ssl/combo.csr.key This key has both the intermediate keys ON TOP, and the ROOT KEY on the bottom. Here is the Intermediate keys: https://knowledge.geotrust.com/library/VERISIGN/ALL_OTHER/geotrust%20ca/GT_QuickSSL_and_Premium_and_Trial_intermediate_bundle.pem and here is the root CERT: http://www.geotrust.com/resources/root_certificates/certificates/Equifax_Secure_Certificate_Authority.cer anyone know how to use rapidssl certs?

  • Dynamically change my schema

    I am wondering if there is a way to change the schema that I am working in while inside Management Studio. For instance I may have a default schema of dbo. But there are times I may want to query objects in say the accounting schema. It would be nice if I could issue a command and make it so I no longer must include the accounting before tables and views. But the next time I go in, I will be back to default of dbo.

    How can I limit the upload and download bandwidth on my CentOS server? This is a box with a single interface, eth0. Ideally, I would like a command-line solution (I've been trying to use tc), something that I could easily switch on and off in a script. So far I've been trying to do something like tc filter add dev eth0 protocol ip prio 50 u32 police rate 100kbit burst 10240 drop but I'm obviously missing a lot of knowledge and information.   • Web and email host migration - Limitations and suggestions to make the process as easy as possible.

    I developed a website for a friend of mine to replace his current 'all inclusive' provider (website creation, updating, web hosting, email hosting). I've already paid for a hosting service which currently houses the website which I have created. I need to cancel the previous service provider to get the domain migrated to the new host, however I will still need to transfer or recreate all of the email addresses that everyone in his company had previously. Is there an easy way migrate email accounts (still linked to the same domain) while migrating to a different host? Will any methods allow all users to retain their archived emails and folder structures? What is the process to do so. Because the current provider is a rather large website development and hosting company, I will have limited access to the data they have stored. As you can probably tell, my knowledge in this area is very limited - any/all suggestions you may have would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. -Jack

  • How to fix poor rendering in Windows Movie Maker?

    I am using CamStudio to make some instructional videos about Visual Studio for our development team, and one of the videos needed some editing to remove audio and video mistakes and to add in a better ending. CamStudio outputs to .avi files, and they look pretty good, with the program source code being quite readable. However, after making the edits using WMM, it has rendered the results to a noticeable loss in quality. It has gone from from fairly sharp in focus and adequately readable to recognizable but somewhat blurred. It has also inflated the size of the new .avi file to three times its original size (before cropping half of the vido out!). And the .wmv I attempted to render was was certainly smaller but simply horrible-looking. The left image here is the original video, and the right image is WMM's rendering in .avi format: I have to be doing something wrong, but I know nothing about how to use WMM (my first use of it). I am using default settings to the best of my knowledge. Any suggestions welcomed!

  • Thunderbird: moving email from local Junk folder to IMAP folder yields "Message contains invalid header"

    Whenever I try to move an email from a local Junk folder to an IMAP folder in Thunderbird, I get the following error message: The current command did not succeed. The mail server responded: Message contains invalid header If Thunderbird's Junk folder is an IMAP folder on the server, then after Thunderbird has moved messages to that folder, I can successfully move messages from Junk back into to some other IMAP folder. However, if the Junk folder is not on the server, then moving a message from the local Junk folder to an IMAP folder yields the aforementioned error. The only interesting thing I've found about this error is "Message contains invalid header" from the MozillaZine Knowledge Base. That article officially is about importing folders from another email client, and does not mention the Junk filter as another possible cause. However the proposed solution is not very helpful since it requires manual editing of the message box files. Any better ideas? EDIT: make sure you read the comments before answering the question.

    Hi, I am doing a lot of image processing in C and I need a good, reasonably lightweight, and above all FAST matrix manipulation library. I am mostly focussing on affine transformations and matrix inversions, so i do not need anything too sophisticated or bloated. Primarily I would like something that is very fast (using SSE perhaps?), with a clean API and (hopefully) prepackaged by many of the unix package management systems. Note this is for C not for C++.
