• Caching stored procedure results in Linq'u

  In our web application we have a lots of stored procedures look like this one: getSomeData(/* 7 diffrent params */) This stored procedure don't make any updates. We are using Linq'u. I know that the date are changing no often than once per day so the results for the same sets of parameters values will be the same. Does Linqu have cache simple solution? I know how to 'manually' write cache mechanism in .net, but I supposed that in Linqu this problem was solved. I'm a lazy guy :) so I'm looking for something realy simple like: Linqu_global_store_procedure_configuration.CacheDuration="600" Linqu_global_store_procedure_configuration.CacheVaryByParam="*" I'm using .net 3.5 but its not any problem to move for 4.0.

  I'm trying to move some reusable portions of code into a class. This is working okay except when I attempt to use Session within this class. I get an error: "Cannot refer to an instance member of a class from within a shared method or shared member initializer without an explicit instance of the class." My code looks something like this: Public Class webHousing Inherits System.Web.UI.Page Public Sub GetUserInfo() Dim x as String x = 10 Session("x")= x End Sub End Class I've simplified this code significantly - but the basic problem is present - trying to set a session value from within a class. I found the following MSDN article1 but don't believe Public/Shared can be used on Session?

• jquery - setting a limit of items, that can be dragged into a list

  Hi, i have this two lists, from which i can move items from one to another with jquery ui and connect lists, with ajax. If an item is pulled over, a message is generated in a php file and then it appears on screen. Now i want that for example the right list should be allowed to contain ten items at max. It would be great if it would be possible with jquery, that if there is already ten items in the list and you go and drag the eleventh, if then the item would somehow vanish, maybe with a little effekt. I think maybe reading out db in the php-file if theres already ten items, and so on. But i have currently no idea, if and in case if in which way, jquery would support this kind of behaviour. • Making Google Maps overlay draggable

  I have extended GOverlay so that it draws small rectangular div at a specified location. But how to make it draggable using Maps API V2? First I tried to just listen the mousedown/up/move DOM events of the div itself. While I got this mostly working, I thought that there has to be a simpler way of doing that. I tried listening the "drag" event of the map itself, which didn't work as I expected. I also found GDraggableObject, which seemed like something to use exactly for that, but I didn't understand how to really use it. Any suggestions?

• Migrating Data to MSSQL 2008

  I am trying to migrate data from an Informix database to MSSQL 2008. I've got quite a lot of data to move. I've been try multiple methods to get the data over, and so far SQLBulkCopy in multiple chunks seems to be the fastest that I can find. Does anyone know of a faster means of getting the data over? I'm trying to cut down on the transfer time so that on my cut-over date I don't run out of time to do the full cut-over. Thanks.

• How to regularly merge two git repositories, one with submodules into one without

  I maintain a Drupal project in a git repository containing submodules. This works well for me overall, and I like the submodule approach. However, I would like to move my site to a hosting provider that offers deployment via git push but doesn't work with submodules. I would like to keep my current repository intact, and then when I'm ready to deploy, I would like to merge the changes from my repository into the deployment repository, but any submodules need to be exported into the tree. So, it needs to be (semi) automated, so I can just run a command or two and initiate the merge, and then push to the server. Ideally it would keep track of individual commits, but I wouldn't mind if it squashed them into a single commit. How would be the most effective way to achieve this?

• Why can't I have static public fields in my managed beans?

  I just started using the Netbeans 7.1 beta and it is calling out errors of a type which I have never seen before. Specifically: A managed bean with a public field should not declare any scope other than @Dependent. The fields it is complaining about are public static final. I can understand the restriction on non-static fields, but I can't think of a good reason this would not be allowed for a static field. Unfortunately I use a lot of them since I don't like having constants in my code. I note that even though I get the red dot in the margin in the editor, the maven-driven build still works and GlassFish still runs my application the way I would expect. So what is my denoument on this issue? Am I going to have to move my static fields elsewhere or is there another way of handling this?

• How to hide a scrollbar? (Windows Mobile)

  Hi! I have one panel "imageHolder" I have from 4 to 20 pictureboxes (each pictureBox is 256x256px so they increase the panel's size to more than the cellphone's workarea) I have set the panel's autoscroll = true, so that a V and H scrollbar is shown. Is it possible to make these scrollbars not visible? The reason i want them to be not visible: - I want to be able to use touch to move around in the panel, and thought that i can do this by just increasing/decreasing the scrollbar's position. Is there a way to do this? (I have searched, but can't seem to find anything useful. Looks like the scrollbars are a bit limited) Do you recommend me to do it some other way?

  Hello, I created a web application and it used several libraries once upon a time. So i added them but later on i found alternative and actually better ways to do the same things. So i removed references from my project for those jars and libraries. Everything works fine but when i move the same project to my friend's laptop Netbeans 6.8 simply doesn't let me deploy the project and gives the whole bundle of errors of libraries that i used previously but i don't now. I removed all references from build.impl file and then when i deploy it, it works fine. But when i do a clean and build and try to deploy it, build.impl automatically again adds those lines of xml which contain references to libraries an again gives me a whole long list of errors. How do i get rid of this? I am really tired of these silly errors. Thanks in advance :)

• Ninject caching an injected DataContext? Lifecycle Management?

  I had a series of very bizarre errors being thrown in my repositories. Row not found or changed, 1 of 2 updates failed... Nothing made sense. It was as if my DataContext instance was being cached... Nothing made sense and I was considering a career move. I then noticed that the DataContext instance was passed in using dependency injection, using Ninject (this is the first time I have used DI...). I ripped out the Dependency Injection, and all went back to normal. Instantly. So dependency injection was the issue, but I still don't know why. I am speculating that Ninject was caching the injected DataContext. Is this correct? Is there a way of configuring the lifecycle management of injected parameters? If so, what would be the best configuration to use to have the DataContext behave like a normal DataContext, ie, no caching across requests?

• CSS sticky footer makes scroll bar unscrollable in IE 8

In IE8 the scrollbar appears but doesn't work, and I don't have any other way to move down.   Imagine the following situation: A virus infected file was commited into a Subversion repository. A Anti Virus scanner runs on the server and also scans the Subversion repository. The Anti Virus scanner will delete the affected revision or move it to quarantine. The consequence is a broken repository. If the revision file is recoverable (from quarantine), how to solve this problem? I have some goals to achieve: The AV is not allowed to be disabled or excluded from the directories. The virus infected file must not be stored in the repository The repository must be consistens and usable. What is the nicest solution for this little problem?

  For our .net 3.5 web project, what are the files which needs to be included under VSS 6.0? We have a distributed team of three vendors working on separate modules of our .net portal and all of them maintain their own setup and during release they send across the final build. No surprises that this has caused much headache and we have decided that we will keep this environment under our control and checkout the files when required. This is a multi-part questionnaire and to clear some basics first, we would like to know which are the important files to be kept under VSS6.0.   Hello all, I'm currently in the process of adding JNI functionality into a legacy delphi app. In a single-threaded environment everything works fine, but as soon as I move into multi-threaded environment, things start to become hairy. My problem is that calling JavaVM^.AttachCurrentThread( JavaVM, @JEnv, nil ); returns 0, but puts the JEnv pointer to nil. I have no idea why jvm.dll should return a NULL pointer.   I am building a set of class libraries that produce office open xml based reports and I am using a static Windsor IoC container. My problem is that one possible entry point to the reporting system is via a web front end which means that the reporting systems static IoC Container is being shared amongst multiple web requests which causes exceptions as for each new request the reporting system is trying re-register components in Windsor that were already registered by an earlier request. I dont want to move the registration into the web app global.asax as my reporting system will no longer be stand-alone. How can I have a Windsor IoC container that can be shared amongst my reporting classes but not shared across multiple web requests?

• Nonstatic conversion functions; Casting different types, e.g. DirectX vector to OpenGL vector

  I am currently working on a game "engine" that needs to move values between a 3D engine, a physics engine and a scripting language. Since I need to apply vectors from the physics engine to 3D objects very often and want to be able to control both the 3D, as well as the physics objects through the scripting system, I need a mechanism to convert a vector of one type (e.g. vector3d<float>) to a vector of the other type (e.g. btVector3). Unfortunately I can make no assumptions on how the classes/structs are laid out, so a simple reinterpret_cast probably won't do. So the question is: Is there some sort of 'static'/non-member casting method to achieve basically this: vector3d<float> operator vector3d<float>(btVector3 vector) { // convert and return } btVector3 operator btVector3(vector3d<float> vector) { // convert and return } Right now this won't compile since casting operators need to be member methods. (error C2801: 'operator foo' must be a non-static member)

  Hi I have some sites powered by Joomla, but with my current assignment I wanted to try something new and created with CodeIgniter a really basic CMS (just to suit my client's needs). Everything works fine except menus - multilevel menus like in Joomla, Drupal etc. with items and subitems... My question is: do you know of any tutorials or texts abut implementing such a structure. I've tried the recursion thinggy with while getting children's IDs move downwards from the parent while searching for the currently displayed item's ID. I've tried also the Drupalish way with having a path parameter enclosing ID's all the way from top to bottom '1/23/123/3'. But all in all it was just too chaotic - code something, try it out. If you have some idea on this topic - thanks in advice.

  I'd like the Margin property to reference the center of the UIElement and not the top-left corner. That way when I change the width/height of the UIElement it stays in the same spot. Is there a way to configure this behavior or I'll have to rely on Binding to make the adjustment ? Thanks.
