    We have a largish MFC app that is our main product. This app is being actively developed and there are no plans to stop development. I am new to windows development, but I get the impression that MFC is dead and all the new growth and enhancements are in .net. Is this view accurate? What criteria should we consider when deciding if we should convert this application to .net. Here I'm asking why. I have asked the how question here

  • C# System.Diagnostics.Process redirecting Standard Out for large amounts of data

    I running an exe from a .NET app and trying to redirect standard out to a streamreader. The problem is that when I do myprocess.exe out.txt out.txt is close to 14mb. When I do the command line version it is very fast but when I run the process from my csharp app it is excruciatingly slow because I believe the default streamreader flushes every 4096 bytes. Is there a way to change the default stream reader for the Process object?

    I'd like to be able to grab the metadata of the currently playing file in Quicktime X using ScriptingBridge and Ruby, so far I have the following code require 'osx/cocoa' OSX.require_framework 'ScriptingBridge' @app = OSX::SBApplication.applicationWithBundleIdentifier("com.apple.QuickTimePlayerX") @app.documents.each do |movie| # What now?! end But I can't find any functions in QuickTime X's applescript dictionary to get the metadata from a document object (the same data you can see in QT's 'Show Movie Inspector' HUD) — does anyone have any ideas?

This is the paragraph found in the pdf: To submit your application through iTunes Connect and get it posted on the App Store successfully, make sure you have the following: Application binary (includes 57px icon), large 512px icon for use on the App Store, primary screenshot, contract information, export compliance information and applica- tion metadata It is also mentioned that the binary should be a zipped file.     A lot of web applications having a 3 tier architecture are doing all the processing in the app server and use the database for persistence just to have database independence. After paying a huge amount for a database, doing all the processing including batch at the app server and not using the power of the database seems to be a waste. I have a difficulty in convincing people that we need to use best of both worlds.

  • is there a way to disconnect from facebook login without calling logout

    Basically, I'd like to know how I can logout of my facebook session if I am in an iphone app and have connected to facebook (such that I do not have to repeatedly enter my login/password). Normally you'd disconnect in the app somewhere like in the options, but if this is not available (i.e. anything that triggers the FBSession logout method) is there some other way to do it? I'm guessing one could restore their phone to factory settings or something.

    The connection string in my app.config for my C# project looks like Data Source=.\SQLEXPRESS;AttachDbFilename='|DataDirectory|\EIC.mdf';Integrated Security=True;User Instance=True" I am writing unit tests for the project and have the set the test run configuration to copy the EIC.mdf, but I do am not able to reference the Deployed copy of EIC.mdf to be referenced by the app.config I created for the test project. If I set it to Data Source=.\SQLEXPRESS;AttachDbFilename='EIC.mdf';Integrated Security=True;User Instance=True" It still does not find the mdf file.
