• CSS Positioning Issues: Wordpress

  I'm following this tutorial here http://www.kriesi.at/archives/create-a-multilevel-dropdown-menu-with-css-and-improve-it-via-jquery on adding a menu with jquery. I've created my menu, but I'm having trouble adding it to wordpress. I opened up the header.php file since I want it to appear below the banner, and I paste it in it's own div, but it always "pushes" everything below it to the right. How do I stop it from doing this?   I'm using the Maruku markdown processor. Then it renders the javascript into a div on the page. I've tried making it a CDATA block and extra spacing between the jquery and my script. Help?

• javascript unable to locate a form using the ID tag

  Here's my problem: I'm trying to set up a simple mobile contact form with a captcha built in. The page I'm working on can be found here: http://m.lancasterpainting.com/contact.php I'm using the following php contact form: http://www.html-form-guide.com/contact-form/php-email-contact-form.html I want to first say that I'm not the only one to run into this problem. After googling the issue, I've found multiple people struggling with this, but no-one seems to have an answer. Now for the problem... As you can see if you visit the page, each time the page is accessed, an error appears that says "Error: couldnot get Form object contact_form". I cannot--for the life of me--figure out why the javascript can't find the form I pass it. I call the function that generates this error at the top of the page: var frmvalidator = new Validator("contact_form"); The form I'm referencing is as follows in the HTML code: <div data-role="page" data-theme="e" id="contact_form" name="contact_form" data-position="inline"> ... And the function that is called that generates the error can be found in an external .js file here: http://m.lancasterpainting.com/scripts/gen_validatorv31.js Is there something that I am simply not seeing? • Upload .txt and keep formating

  I have been trying to upload a .txt to my server via a simple php script I made. Everything seems to uploaded correctly, if I open the .txt in Dreamweaver I can see all the formatting is still in tact with spaces and paragraph breaks. The problem I have is when I try to open that file with PHP and import the contents onto my site. I'm not using an editor right now, just a simple div where the contents are echoed. I don't have much experience with uploading/downloading using PHP. Am I not using a command to handle the file contents and keep the initial formatting? In the end I want the user to upload a file, and have PHP read the file and extract certain elements from it based on the number of spaces between paragraph breaks and such. I was able to actually echo the .txt using URLENCODE() which kept the formatting and made all my spaces +'s. Thats the closes I got, but the original file isn't uploaded in the format so I can't do a count for +'s and select x characters after the last +. Hmmm, if someone knows of a script already available that can do this or similar to with me just tweaking that would be awesome.

• Isotope.js help: Changing item image after sorting

  This is a general question on how to go about building a project I have in mind, and the best way to set off on the right foot. I am fairly new to JS, please be gentle. I want to use isotope.js (or a similar script) to display a page with multiple items (about 30 different plants found in a garden) and the ability to sort them by seasons of the year + "what is most beautiful now" + and "view all" (a total of 6 categories) . On load, or when sorted by either "what is beautiful now" or "view all", I need each item to reflect the image of the current season we are in. When sorted by season, I need those "current" images to switch over to a designated seasonal image of that plant. Therefore, each sortable item will ultimately have 4 different versions with 4 different images in the background ready to surface when plants are sorted. (perhaps 5 if it makes more sense to have a "current" version besides the 4 seasonal versions.) My question: what approach can I take to achieve this effect in a manageable way? Can isotope apply a class to items sorted? Assuming it can: Should each item have 4 inline images, each with a css class, that I then control by using display:inline; and display:none; properties from my stylesheets? (I worry that this approach would significantly increase load times) Would it make more sense to create a blank dummy div who's background I control similarly to the example above -relying mostly on CSS. Or is there some other way involving JS I am overlooking? Any help would be appreciated. Examples of what you suggest would be immensely helpful.

• Setting the correct orientation for scrollbars in right-to-left pages.

  I'm working with right-to-left layouts at the moment (think Hebrew or Arabic). In RTL, the page is generally flipped horizontally. However, I can't figure out how to change the orientation of the scrollbars. I would assume that the scrollbars should appear on the left side of a scrollable element, not the right side like it does in an LTR layout. • problem calculating the position using php

  I have a function below which gets name from a site. Below is the partial code, not complete. But when the values for the pages are passed, for an example when i move from page 1 to page 2. the count starts again from first, next page... same problem. How can i make it continues on every page?

• Tweaking rendering of thumbnail images in galleria

  I am working on the classic theme of Galleria to display a gallery. Here the requirement is to display the thumbnails in two row with the images in following order with a horizontal scroller if the thumbnails list div width increases more than 24. 1 3 5 7 9 11 13 15 17 19 21 23 .. 2 4 6 8 10 12 14 16 18 20 22 24 .. For if the images are less than 24 and more than 12 then the order should be rendered in two rows as :- 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 .. For if the images is less than 12 the images should be rendered in a single row as :- 1 2 3 4 5 6 7... Presently what I have done is I am using css3 column property to do this using different classes on the basis of image counts. This is working in all browsers but in IE8. So, is there any substitute for css3 column property for IE8 or less. Or some better way to implement the stuff that works fine in IE as well.

  I was just thinking, which is always dangerous. We use Valums Image uploader. Aside from that, I am looking for an inline image editor, but with a difference. User uploads an image ( lets say 800 x 600 ) Our system wants to see the image ( 170 x 32 ) now I know we can use php to resize images. But I was thinking, does anyone know of a system, where we can display the image, and user can scale, and crop image ( with say a predefined overlay ) By that they scale down to nearest acceptable size, and then click crop tool, which shows a div overlay with say 70% transparency that they can drag over the image, and then click crop. So image is cropped to exact size we need, then can save . I am sure I have seen some jquery stuff done like this, just cannot for life of me find it. Essentialy, we would like to offer a simple client side image processor, thats lightweight, and then the ability to save what they did . Sorry no code to show, as its more of a request. Regards

  The scenario is I have two Divs one is where I select items (divResults) and it goes to the next div (divSelectedContacts). When I select it I place a tick mark next to it. What I want to do is when I select it again I want to remove the tick mark and also remove the element from divSelectedContacts. • JQuery event that triggers after CSS is loaded?

  (I posted this on the jquery forums but it's still awaiting moderation, so I thought I'd try my luck here since stackoverflow is so awesome. If I get an answer I'll post it here.) Maybe someone can help me with this, I have a couple of links on my page (inside a <div id="theme-selector">) which allow you to change the CSS stylesheets: $('#theme-selector a').click(function(){ var path = $(this).attr('href'); $('head link').remove(); $('head').append('<link type="text/css" href="'+path+'" rel="stylesheet" />'); return false; }); Now, after I've changed the style on the page, I want to get the new background color, using the following code (which I put after the $('head').append call): var bgcolor = $('body').css('background-color'); alert(bgcolor); The problem is, I think, that it takes some time for the browser to download the new stylesheet and I sometimes get the old background color in my alert message. Is there some event I can bind that will only alert me after all the stylesheets are loaded on the page? At the moment, all I can think of is using a setTimeout(function(){}, 5000); which isn't great, because what if it takes longer/shorter to load all the CSS on the page. Let me know if I need to clarify anything and I can provide more code. Thanks in advance.

  Good Day, I have a small form with a combo box (ASP.NET Drop Down List control) and a text box (with a DIV id txtName). When the selected index of the combo box changes, I want to clear out the text box. I understand that: $("#txtName").val(''); clears the text box value The thing is the combo box. It contains a list of integers representing the months of the year. The drop down control is called ddlMonths. $("#ddlMonths").change(function() { $("#txtName").val(''); }); I thought by using change, an onSelectedIndexChange event handler would be associated with this control. I also tried (because I've ran into the client id being mangled in ASP.NET w/ jQuery) this: $("#<%=ddlMonths.ClientID%>").change(function() { $("#<%=txtName.ClientID%>").val(''); }); and neither approach seems to be working. Someone told me I need to reinitialize the code. But how do I do that? • Disabled input text color

  Hi The simple HTML below displays differently in Firefox and WebKit-based browsers (I checked in Safari, Chrome and iPhone). In Firefox both border and text have the same color (#880000), but in Safari the text gets a bit lighter (as if it had some transparency applied to it). Can I somehow fix this (remove this transparency in Safari)? UPDATE: Thank you for your answers. • Replacing one image with another image through ajax makes it dissappear for a split second

  I have the following code (asp.net-mvc, jquery) (i have simplified the example to show the issue) where i want to click on an image and have it replaced with another image. This works fine but the first time i click it, the original image disappears (for a split second) before the other image shows up. After that it works seamlessly. Is there any way to eliminate this quirk so there is not split second where no image is shown?   The Problem I have a page with a form on. It has a hidden field called: generic_portrait I want the user to click a link "select portrait" This will open a Dialog/Popup using jQuery, based on a dropdown completed earlier in the form. If the value of the dropdown called "gender" is "male" then show male options, if "gender" is set to "female" show female options. Each portrait has a radio button, each with a name assigned "male1", "male2" etc Depending on the radio button selected in the popup, I want the hidden field to be set to match this. The Questions What is the best way to show a dialog/popup using jQuery, different depending on a dropdown box on the page. Use Javascript to see what is selected, then show a corresponding Div? I can do the check to see what the dropdown is set to using jQuery, but how can I then shown a specific popup based on that? Once i've popped it up, how do I take the value assigned to the selected radio box, and set the hidden field called "generic_portrait" to this value. Why i'm asking Normally I would figure this out myself, as i'm sure it's not that difficult, but I don't use Javascript and/or PHP very often, and this is due for a client urgently. So I would really, really appreciate some help on this one. Thanks for all replies in advance.
