  • I'm making a resume...what would you consider as intermediate python programming skills?

    I've made a couple of scripts. One is a stock screener that can search through every stock. Another creates a heatmap that tells you what's performed well and badly over the past day. They aren't really that useful, just did them to work on my programming skills. I was able to throw some SQL in my scripts too. Would you call that intermediate? Thanks? How do you guys list your programming skills on your resume? Maybe there's a better way of putting it on my resume than "intermediate" or "beginner."

    I have an instance of a master class which generates instances of a subclass, these subclasses need to forward some method calls back to the master instance.     Newbie CSS question. I thought 'width:auto' for a display:block element meant 'fill available space'. However for an <input> element this doesn't seem to be the case. For example: <body> <form style='background-color:red'> <input type='text' style='background-color:green;display:block;width:auto'> </form> </body> Two questions then: Is there a definition of exactly what width:auto does mean? The CSS spec seems vague to me, but maybe I missed the relevant section. Is there a way to achieve my expected behaviour for a input field - ie. fill available space like other block level elements do? Thanks!

  • Horizontal scroll in rich:panel to default right to left

    I have a rich:panel with a style="overflow: scroll" tag inside. By default, the scroll slides left to right. I am constantly adding a new dataTable to a dataGrid with the click of a button and I want the user to always see the most recent one, and since I have it set up so that each dataTable is added as a column to the dataGrid, the most recent one will always be on the right side of the dataGrid. Is there a way I can default the scroll to go right to left? Or maybe creating the columns from right to left?

    I have a problem with PhotobucketNet user login(I need user to login so I can upload a picture from HDD to his Photobucket account). Photobucket photobucket = new Photobucket("myapikey", "myapisecret"); photobucket.LaunchUserLogin(); // the problem happens here photobucket.RequestUserToken(); If I call RequestUserToken() it will happen immediately, so I'll get a crash cause user didn't logged in, and there is no event that's been raised after user logs in. Is there some variable(bool or something else) that I can check to see if user logged in - maybe to put it in a loop with timer? Also is their a way to know if user canceled logging in? I know that timer isn't a good solution, so if anyone has anything better as an idea, I'm open for any suggestions...

    Recently, when I tried to explain why Rails is a DSL to an intern at my organisation, I was not able to articulate my reasonings to the effect I would like to. Maybe I do not understand the space well enough to teach the nuances. Redirecting him to Martin Fowler' article or the google ranked one InfoQ or other material has not helped much either. Can some explain why Rails is a DSL with an example / parallel situation which is not voodoo stuff for someone who is fairly new to the world of code?     I have a query like below that has groups (COL1) and that group's values (COL2). select col1, col2 from (select 'A' col1, 1 col2 from dual union all select 'A' col1, 2 col2 from dual union all select 'B' col1, 1 col2 from dual union all select 'B' col1, 2 col2 from dual union all select 'C' col1, 1 col2 from dual union all select 'C' col1, 2 col2 from dual ) order by col1, col2; The output of this query looks like: COL1 COL2 ---- ---- A 1 A 2 B 1 B 2 C 1 C 2 What I need is a query that will return an ordered number increasing for each different group (COL1). It seems like there would be a simple way to accomplish this (maybe with analytics) but for some reason it is escaping me. GRPNUM COL1 COL2 ------ ---- ---- 1 A 1 1 A 2 2 B 1 2 B 2 3 C 1 3 C 2 I am running Oracle 10gR2.

    hello folks! i have a construction like this: <div id="container"> <span> <span></span> </span> <span> <span></span> </span> </div> i need to catch the mouseout event of the container, so i made jquery do this: $("#container").hover('',function(){ alert("Out"); }); In Firefox / Opera, it only fires the mouseout-function when leaving the div (how I want it). In IE it fires the mouseout-function at every -Tag inside of the div the mouse hits. (maybe important is, that the span tags have also mouseover and out events) Anyone has an idea how to solve this? (The nested structure cant be changed because a complex layout) thx4 any ideas!

    Hi there: I am developing an application (Delphi 7, windows XP) that uses a connection to a remote SQL Server. Sometimes, that server is down, and I want to do something to start it. I was trying to start SQL Server in a local context, and it was fine, it worked... But the point is that I have to start it up from a remote machine. I can see SQL Server status from a remote server, but I can't start it up... Maybe it gets problems because of user and password, but where to specify the login to the remote machine?     Hi all, I've been given a lighttpd.conf that someone else wrote and need help working out how to serve it. I'm 90% of the way there but stuck... The index.html page appears, but links and CSS files don't point to the right place. To clarify, the links and CSS files are all pointing to a 'file:///' URL.   • How to create a snapshot or clone of PHP, MySQL page... Inspiration needed

    Hi, We have a web application that creates a dynamic PHP page with all the MySQL stored details a user has entered via a number a forms. So far so good, but we want this information stored some how to be refereed to at a later date, as an administrator can make changes to the data, which reflects on calculations that are worked out from this saved data. When going back over this saved data we need to be able to see all the information submitted for that particular calculation, so if that data has changed we will see what is was relating to that calculation. Now we have thought about maybe a snapshot when the calculation is done, pdf of the webpage or something similar would do, but is this simple to do? I hope this makes sense...

  • Java concurrency - Should block or yield?

    Hi, I have multiple threads each one with its own private concurrent queue and all they do is run an infinite loop retrieving messages from it. It could happen that one of the queues doesn't receive messages for a period of time (maybe a couple seconds), and also they could come in big bursts and fast processing is necessary. I would like to know what would be the most appropriate to do in the first case: use a blocking queue and block the thread until I have more input or do a Thread.yield()? I want to have as much CPU resources available as possible at a given time, as the number of concurrent threads may increase with time, but also I don't want the message processing to fall behind, as there is no guarantee of when the thread will be reescheduled for execution when doing a yield(). I know that hardware, operating system and other factors play an important role here, but setting that aside and looking at it from a Java (JVM?) point of view, what would be the most optimal?

  • Submit multiple forms as one

    I have two forms on the page. To the user it looks like 1 form, and I actually wish it was one form. But the way I'm trying to reuse code and include things, I can't avoid two forms in the source code... trying to act as one. I don't want to do ajax submit, I want a normal post submit, my form handler has redirects in it. How can I submit both of these, and get values that make sense on the server side. something like $_POST['form1]['whatever'] $_POST['form2]['thing'] Maybe take all the inputs from form 2, rename all of them with a prefix, and append them to form 1? I can't find a non-messy way of doing this. I don't think I need code, just a plan. Least messy idea wins.

Let's assuming I'm using PHP or maybe even Ruby to do this. I would need a way to process the emails and dump them into a DB or something. Ok fine, but my main question is getting a script to kick off when an email comes in. I have a VPS so I have full control over my environment and it's running Centos.

    I have a content type with important "created" date field. And I have a menu link (in primary links) which is link to page that shows list of all nodes of my content type. (http://example.com/mycontenttype) I want to have menu links (visible in primary links) to each year when nodes of my content type are displayed (http://example.com/mycontenttype/2010). And I want to add these menu links from mymodule_nodeapi function, when the node is creating and only if it has a "created" date of new year. I know that I can create a pathes in mymodule_menu function, but it doesn't create a visible menu item. (Maybe I can somehow set parent_link_id or something else to do it?)

    I'm fairly new to SQL and i had to do some calculations using a table.Imagine we have a table with fields : ID - Name - Val1 - Val2 ; Lets say i want to add up 2 values and add it to my query result.I can do that easily with a sub query such as: select val1+val2 as valtotal,* from my table. Now if i want to do some more process on valtotal, i use a derived table such as; select valtotal*3 as ValMoreCalculated,* from (select val1+val2 as valtotal,* from my table) AS A A bit more code maybe?? select ValMoreCalculated/valtotal as ValEvenMoreCalc ,* from (select valtotal*3 as ValMoreCalculated,* from (select val1+val2 as valtotal,* from my table) AS A)AS B So if i want to do more calculations with the ValMoreCalculated do i have to go through another derived table? Name it as B for example? Is there an easier way to achieve this in SQL? PS:the title is a bit off i know,but couldn't figure out what to name it :P

  • rails separate login for an api

    I have a very simple api that is part of a rails app that requires logging in. I just need a way to make the api part accessible with a simple form that allows the user to enter parameters like a key (just a simple one stored in the DB, no OAuth or anything), a userId to find and return a user via json, and maybe some other parameters like asking for their schedule. How can I keep this seperate from the rest of the app, making it a public facing form that will grant access only to the api? Thanks.

My question is this: I am wanting to align all the texboxes so that they are aligned. I have added spaces after the text, yet the textboxes just appear straight after the text, ignoring the spaces that I entered. What is the best, most effective way to do this? Maybe a table? thanks
