  • varchar data type to datetime data type resulted in an out-of-range??

    - by leen3o
Very weird problem occurred, I have moved a site from one server to another - All is working, but any query involving a date is playing up. I get the following: DELETE FROM MYTABLE WHERE categoryId = -2 AND datecreated < '3/23/2010'; The conversion of a varchar data type to a datetime data type resulted in an out-of-range value Now what's strange is I have changed the LCID to 1033 on the new server as the date is showing as US format and its still throwing an error! I then tried 2057 and again the same error? Made no difference. I'm a little confused, as this is a working site from a server with IIS6 - The locale is 1033 on that server and it works perfectly!! :S I have just tried thrown a Cdate() around the date too and yet again the same error??? Any ideas??

  • Temporary files & folders on Windows

    - by GRIGORE-TURBODISEL
Emulating multithreading by loading a DLL multiple times (it's designed for this). Since LoadLibrary() doesn't really allow it, the DLL copies itself into a temporary file, via GetTempPath() and GetTempFileName(). It's a small file and upon thread destruction it frees the library and deletes the temporary file. Problem now is that the number of threads is configurable (maniacs can pick 50, 100, more) which basically exposes the risk of running unstable, crash and not go through the usual "delete temporary files" routine. Is it okay if I just leave those temporary files to die there? Does the OS usually clean the up by itself? Or should I write an autocleanup routine? If yes, how can I go about saving another temporary file to hold a list with those files, and not hit UAC restrictions or otherwise? Any ideas?

  • iphone - how to properly handle exceptional situations (signals ?)

    - by pmilosev
Hi In my iphone app, I want to provide some sort of app termination handler that will do some final work (delete some sensitive data) before the application terminates. I want to handle as much of the termination situations as possible: 1) User terminates the app 2) The device runs out of battery 3) The system terminates the app due to some reason (e.g. out of memory or app freeze) 4) Application crashes (EXC_BAD_ACCESS or SIGSEGV) Any other exceptional situation ? What is the best way to achieve this (e.g. is applicationWillTerminate method called in situation 2) ? Is it possible to do the cleanup in a signal handler (includes iPhone Security framework calls) ? regards

  • css problem with unordered lists (as usual with IE)

    - by Emin
    I am using un-ordered lists that nests some divs to show the desired output on screen. I am using css to style them and they seem to look perfect on chrome and firefox. But in IE(8) it looks there is a problem which I was unable to locate. I am using the below CSS <style type="text/css"> .ur_container {width:980px; padding: 0; margin: 0;} .ur_container ul.bx_grp {list-style-type: none; padding: 0px; margin: 0px; } .ur_container ul.bx_lnx {list-style-type: none; padding: 5px; margin: 0px; } .bx_grp {border:1px solid #c5c5c5; background-color: yellow; margin:0; padding:0;} .bx_grp_header {background-color: #d6d6d6; border-bottom:1px solid #acacac;} .bx_grp_title {float: left; font: bold 11px Arial; padding:5px;} .bx_grp_options {float: right; font: 10px Arial; padding: 5px;} .bx_grp_options a{color: #125B93; text-decoration: none; } .bx_lnx {padding:0px; background-color: red;} .bx_lnx_header {font:11px Arial; color:#333;} .bx_lnx_title {float: left;} .bx_lnx_refno {background-color:#333; color: fff; padding: 1px; margin-right: 5px; } .bx_lnx_options {float: right;} .bx_lnx_options a {color: #258CF4; text-decoration: none;} .bx_lnx_url {font: 9px Arial; color: #999; margin-top: 4px; } .bx_lnx_notes {} .bx_lnx_notes span {background-color: #FDFFCC; color: #666; font: 9px Arial; padding:2px;} .bx_lnx_tags {} .bx_lnx_tags span {background-color: #efefef; border-bottom: 1px solid #ccc; color: #666; font: 9px Arial; padding: 1px 2px 1px 2px; margin-right: 5px;} </style> Against the following HTML <div class="ur_container"> <ul class="bx_grp" id="grp_1"> <li> <div class="bx_grp_header"> <span class="bx_grp_title">Personal File</span> <span class="bx_grp_options"><a href="#">rename</a> &bull; <a href="#">make private</a> &bull; <a href="#">hide</a href="#"> &bull; <a href="#">delete</a></span> <div style="clear: both;"></div> </div> </li> <li> <ul class="bx_lnx" id="lnx_1"> <li> <div class="bx_lnx_header"> <span class="bx_linx_title"><span class="bx_lnx_refno">#3103</span>How to file personal files</span> <span class="bx_lnx_options"><a href="#">edit</a> &bull; <a href="#">move</a> &bull; <a href="#">delete</a></span> </div> </li> <li class="bx_lnx_url">http://www.google.com</li> <li class="bx_lnx_notes"><span>search google for this</span></li> <li class="bx_lnx_tags"><span>personal</span><span>file</span><span>google</span></li> </ul> </li> </ul> </div> Which produces this output in Chrome and Fireworks and the following in IE The yellow and red colors was used in order to show that is being going wrong. • Generate encoding String according to creation order.

    - by Tony
I need to generate encoding String for each item I inserted into the database. for example: x00001 for the first item x00002 for the sencond item x00003 for the third item The way I chose to do this is counting the rows. Before I insert the third item, I count against the database, I know there're already 2 rows, so the next encoding is ended with 3. But there is a problem. If I delete the second item, the forth item will not be the x00004,but x00003. I can add additional columns to table, to store the next encoding, I don't know if there's other better solutions ?

  • Spring Framework HttpRequestHandler failure

    - by sharadva
We have an application which communicates via REST requests made by clients. The REST requests contain "region name" and a "ID" as parameters So, a request would look something like this (for a DELETE) http://host:port/regionnameID These REST requests between regions in a federation are properly URL encoded I find that these request fail if the region name has a slash ("/") in it. Then, the request would look like so http://host:port/region/nameID This is due to incorrect interpretation of the Rest URL by HttpRequesthandler when there is a '/' in the region name. Now, we have no control over clients sending REST request with "/" in the Region name. Is there any method / configuration / workaround that can be done to prevent the HttpRequestHandler from returning 404

  • Disable Drag&Drop of files in Richtextbox in .NET

    - by Jiri
Hello, I use a .NET richtextbox and I want to have the EnableAutoDragDrop property set to True. This allows user to drag&drop text, rtf and images around etc. However, I need to process files dropped into the richtextbox myself - I do not want them to be embedded as OLE objects when they are dropped. How can I overcome this? Is there any way to delete embedded files from richtextbox? (I've found API DragAcceptFiles which doesn't work for some reason.) Thanks!

  • Gen folder disappearing in Eclipse Android project

    - by Adam Haile
I'm just getting started developing for Android and I'm running into a weird problem. First off, I'm running Eclipse for Java devs v3.5.2 with the Android 2.1 SDK installed. Basically, whenever I do just about anything the "gen" (R.java, etc.) folder will just disappear from the project. I'm seen some people online say that it was still on the drive, just gone from the project listing in Eclipse, but in my case it is literally and completely gone. The only fix I've found is that if I refresh, then try to build, it gives an error and "gen" shows up in the project view (though it's not on the disk), then delete it from within the project, then Rebuild All and it will say that it cannot find it and is recreating it. Problem is, I have to do this every single time I want to build. There's got to be a fix for this.

  • "Right" way to deallocate an std::vector object

    - by Jacob
    The first solution is: std::vector<int> *vec = new std::vector<int>; assert(vec != NULL); // ... delete vec; An alternative is: std::vector<int> v; //... vec.clear(); vec.swap(std::vector<int>(vec)); The second solution's a bit of a trick --- what's the "right" way to do it?

  • NSCFType keeps occurring, something is not being released?

    - by user1493543
    I'm attempting to delete files from the documents directory using a tableview/array combination. For some reason, my NSString pointing to the Documents directory path is being converted to a NSCFType (which after some research, I understand is happening because a variable is not being released). Because of this, the application crashes at the line NSString *lastPath = [documentsDirectory stringByAppendingPathComponent:temp]; claiming that NSCFType cannot recognize the method stringByAppendingPathComponent. I would appreciate if someone could help me out (I hope I have explained this clearly enough). - (void) tableView: (UITableView *) tableView commitEditingStyle: (UITableViewCellEditingStyle) editingStyle forRowAtIndexPath: (NSIndexPath *) indexPath { if (editingStyle == UITableViewCellEditingStyleDelete) { NSString *temp = [directoryContent objectAtIndex:indexPath.row]; NSLog(temp); NSString *lastPath = [documentsDirectory stringByAppendingPathComponent:temp]; [[NSFileManager defaultManager] removeItemAtPath:lastPath error:nil]; - (UITableViewCell *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { paths = NSSearchPathForDirectoriesInDomains(NSDocumentDirectory, NSUserDomainMask, YES); documentsDirectory = [paths objectAtIndex:0]; directoryContent = [[[NSFileManager defaultManager] contentsOfDirectoryAtPath:documentsDirectory error:nil] retain]; //tableview handling below }

  • How to Map a table with another lookup table using JPA?

    - by Sameer Malhotra
Hi, I have two tables: 1) Application(int appid, int statusid, String appname, String appcity with getter and Setter methods) 2) App_Status(int statusid,String statusDescription with setter and getter methods) I want to map Application table with App_Status so that I don't have to query separately App_Status table in order to get the statusDescription. One thing I have to careful is that no matter what (Insert, update or delete) to the Application table the App_Status table should be unaffected means its a read only table which is maintained by the DBA internally and used only for lookup table. I am using JPA annotations so please suggest how to handle this.

  • Balanced Search Tree Query, Asymtotic Analysis..

    - by AGeek
Hi, The situation is as follows:- We have n number and we have print them in sorted order. We have access to balanced dictionary data structure, which supports the operations serach, insert, delete, minimum, maximum each in O(log n) time. We want to retrieve the numbers in sorted order in O(n log n) time using only the insert and in-order traversal. The answer to this is:- Sort() initialize(t) while(not EOF) read(x) insert(x,t); Traverse(t); Now the query is if we read the elements in time "n" and then traverse the elements in "log n"(in-order traversal) time,, then the total time for this algorithm (n+logn)time, according to me.. Please explain the follow up of this algorithm for the time calculation.. How it will sort the list in O(nlogn) time?? Thanks.

  • Appropriate data structure for a buffer of the packets

    - by psihodelia
How to implement a buffer of the packets where each packet is of the form: typedef struct{ int32 IP; //4-byte IP-address int16 ID; //unique sequence id }t_Packet; What should be the most appropriate data structure which: (1) allows to collect at least 8000 such packets (fast Insert and Delete operations) (2) allows very fast filtering using IP address, so that only packets with given IP will be selected (3) allows very fast find operation using ID as a key (4) allows very fast (2), then (3) within filtered results ? RAM size does matter, e.g. no huge lookup table is possible to use.

  • No method error in controller create action

    - by user2799827
I have read a number of Q&As on SO in search of some help on this but have so far not solved my issue. I am trying to teach myself ruby/rails, and as a test project, I want to create a list of tvshows and a list of characters where each tvshow has_many characters and each character belongs_to a specific show. I am sure I am doing something basic incorrectly. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. here is the characters controller: class CharactersController < ApplicationController before_action :set_character, only: [:show, :edit, :update, :destroy] # GET /characters # GET /characters.json def index @characters = Character.all end # GET /characters/1 # GET /characters/1.json def show end # GET /characters/new def new @character = Character.new end # GET /characters/1/edit def edit end # POST /characters # POST /characters.json def create @character = @tvshow.characters.create(params[:character]) respond_to do |format| if @character.save format.html { redirect_to @character, notice: 'Character was successfully created.' } format.json { render action: 'show', status: :created, location: @character } else format.html { render action: 'new' } format.json { render json: @character.errors, status: :unprocessable_entity } end end end # PATCH/PUT /characters/1 # PATCH/PUT /characters/1.json def update respond_to do |format| if @character.update(character_params) format.html { redirect_to @character, notice: 'Character was successfully updated.' } format.json { head :no_content } else format.html { render action: 'edit' } format.json { render json: @character.errors, status: :unprocessable_entity } end end end # DELETE /characters/1 # DELETE /characters/1.json def destroy @character.destroy respond_to do |format| format.html { redirect_to characters_url } format.json { head :no_content } end end private # Use callbacks to share common setup or constraints between actions. def set_character @character = Character.find(params[:id]) end # Never trust parameters from the scary internet, only allow the white list through. def character_params params.require(:character).permit(:first_name, :last_name, :bio) end end character model: class Character < ActiveRecord::Base belongs_to :tvshow default_scope -> { order('created_at DESC') } validates :tvshow_id, presence: true end tvshow model: class Tvshow • Virus in Subversion repository, what to do?

    - by furtelwart
Imagine the following situation: A virus infected file was commited into a Subversion repository. A Anti Virus scanner runs on the server and also scans the Subversion repository. The Anti Virus scanner will delete the affected revision or move it to quarantine. The consequence is a broken repository. If the revision file is recoverable (from quarantine), how to solve this problem? I have some goals to achieve: The AV is not allowed to be disabled or excluded from the directories. The virus infected file must not be stored in the repository The repository must be consistens and usable. What is the nicest solution for this little problem?

  • I have a problem implementing states in my Flex app, please help!

    - by ben
Hey guys, I'm trying to work out how to use states in my Flex app. I've created two states, State1 and Stage 2. Both are based off the base state. I've created a few visual elements for State1, and given each of them includeIn="State1". But when I'm in design mode and click on State2, these elements are still visible? Why is that? If I try to delete them while State2 is selected, all that happens is RemoveChild is added to the State2 tag. Is this how I'm supposed to do it? Thanks for reading!

  • What is the fastest way to compare 2 rows in SQL?

    - by Swoosh
I have 2 different databases. Upon changing something in the big one (i don't have access to), i get some rows imported in my databases in a similar HUGE table. I have a job checking for records in this table, and if any, execute a stored procedure, process and delete from table. Performance. (Huge amount of data) I would like to know what is the fastest way to know if something has changed using let's say 2 imported rows with 100 columns each. Don't have FK-s, don't need. Chances are, that even though I have records in my table, nothing has actually changed. Also. Let's say there is actually changed something. Is it possible for example to check only for changes inside datetime columns? Thanks

  • tools for creating user-friendly command-line prompt?

    - by davka
I notice that some programs (e.g. sqlite, mysql client) provide a command-line prompt that is very similar in capabilities to the bash's, including: line editing with left and right arrows, delete, insert, ^K, etc. history browsing with up and down arrows ^R for reverse i-search in command history which make me think that they are using the same toolset for this. I'd like to create a prompt with similar capabilities in my program, which tools can I use? I prefer it to have the same functionality as in bash, so that the users would be familiar with it.

  • c# Create a unique name with a GUID

    - by Dave Rook
I am creating a back up solution. I doubt there is anything new in what I'm trying to achieve. Before copying the file I want to take a backup of the destination file in case anything becomes corrupt. This means renaming the file. I have to be careful when renaming in case the file already exists and adding a 01 to the end is not safe. My question is, based upon not finding the answer else where, would adding a GUID to the file name work. So, if my file was called file01.txt, renaming the file to file01.txtGUID (where GUID is the generated GUID), I could then perform my back up of that file (at this instance having 2 back ups) and then, after ensuring the file has copied (by comparing length of file to the source), delete the file with the GUID in the name. I know the GUID is not 100% guaranteed to be unique but would this suffice?

    - by rayman
Hi, I have an app which has MainActivity(without gui.. please just flow with it:) ) now this MainActivity running a service, this service using sendBroadcast() in order to comunnicate with the MainActivity.. now ofcourse i need to registerReceiver in the onResume() of the MainActivity. but i also need to add unregisterReceiver(receiver) in the onDestroy() of the MainActivity. problem is: when i first start that app i need it to up the service, and i dont want the user to lose focus, so i press finish() after i`am starting the service.. but then auto invoked also unregisterReceiver(receiver).. and this is not good for me.. i get error it's said it couldnt find any registerd reciver. so i fixed it by delete this line.. but i am sure its going to 'revenege' me in the future, when/where could i have problem if i wont use unregisterReceiver(receiver).. at the onDestroy() thanks, ray.
