  The Election tracker as the name suggests, is a web application that will help in monitoring Election Polls in any particular country in real time so that interested stakeholders in any part of the world a can follow the progress of the elections in your country. It also has a mapping component incorporated that utilises ArcGIS ESRI shapefiles and one can also use it for map and kml files from googlemaps,  openstreetmaps and bingmaps.   My EntSSO (Enterprise Single Sign-On Server, part of BizTalk) did not start today, with the message: The SSO service failed to start. Error Code: 0x80131700 Could not create SSOSQL. To fix the problem, reinstall SSO or try 'regasm SSOSQL.dll' from a Visual Studio command prompt. Error Code: 0x80131700   The only reason for this that I can think of is that I have just installed the .net framework 4.0 RC but I have not verified this. The solution suggest in the error message works like a charm! Open a Visual Studio command prompt and run this command: regasm  ‘C:\Program Files\Common Files\Enterprise Single Sign-On\SSOSQL.dll’ Problem solved!

  SharePoint 2010 Training: more information Microsoft launched SharePoint 2013 with great fanfare. But what stuck out was the introductory blog post by Corporate SVP of SharePoint, Jeff Teper. You can read the blogpost titled “The New SharePoint”. But one paragraph has stuck out, “Use SharePoint as an out-of-box application whenever possible - We designed the new SharePoint UI to be clean, simple and fast and work great out-of-box. We encourage you not to modify it which could add complexity, performance and upgradeability and to focus your energy on working with users and groups to understand how to use SharePoint to improve productivity and collaboration and identifying and promoting best practices in your organization.” The keywords here is “whenever possible”.   I double click my presentation to open it w/Impress and it opens, but there is no icon in the launcher (or alt-tab switcher) to indicate that its open. I tried keeping the Impress icon in the launcher, then opening my presentation, but the same thing happened. Then I tried opening Impress from the launcher and opening my file from inside impress...no luck either. What's up with that? btw, im using 11.10 and the file was made with office 2010 and saved as a .ppt if that has anything to do with it. Any help is appreciated

• Great User Group if based near Gloucester + Links from Entity Framework 4.0 session

  I had a really fun evening doing “my final” EF 4.0 session last night (26th May 2010) at GL.NET based out of Gloucester (although secretly I made it into a IronRuby and Windows Azure session). They are a great crowd and Jimmy makes for a fantastic host + it is a very nice venue (Symantec offices in Gloucester, lots of parking, good room etc) + free pizza + free SWAG + trip to pub afterwards (the topics were very varied!). What more could you ask for? The next session is June 16th and will be on multi-tenanted ASP.NET MVC and comes highly recommended. I want to buy it but this extremely odd that for such a popular topic there isn't at least 2 or more reviews. I'd expect a ton of reviews on a book on a subject such as this.   Just found this, if you’re using Azure 1.1,  which you probably will be if yo'u’ve moved to Visual Studio 2010. To change the default database to something other than sqlexpress for Development Storage do this - Look at this - http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd203058.aspx At the bottom it states -   Using Development Storage with SQL Server Express 2008 By default the local Windows Group BUILTIN\Administrator is not included in the SQL Server sysadmin server role on new SQL Server Express 2008 installations.  Add yourself to the sysadmin role in order to use the Development Storage Services on SQL Server Express 2008.  See SQL Server 2008 Security Changes for more information. Changing the SQL Server instance used by Development Storage By default, the Development Storage will use the SQL Express instance.  This can be changed by calling “DSInit.exe /sqlinstance:<SQL Server instance>” from the Windows Azure SDK command prompt.

Visual Studio 2010 .NET frame work 4.5 and for reporting Crystal Report. These are housed on windows server 2008. And for Database we use different servers. We are thinking of moving to SQL Server to be able to utilize the reporting features. My question is does SQL Server can be part of Windows Server 2008 R2 or we needed to have additional server for SQL?

  In the last few months since I started learning F# I have begin to notice an increase in the number of people blogging about the language. Sure, it could just be that I am noticing it more because I am actively looking out for questions and blog posts, but even in my day to day reading of Code Project Daily News and Stack Overflow questions there seems to be increased activity around the language. So what sparked this post? Well, today today I logged in and saw that the latest podcast by DNR was on F# and then immediately afterwards I received an email from CodeProject with a great article comparing F# and Scala. Currently, as of this blog posting (21 May 2010) F# is ranked on the tiobe site at position 43, but I am willing to put money on it that in the next few tiobe ratings this ranking will continue to rise till F# will be a top 20.
