  • How to run an "empty" Windows Application that only has a NotifyIcon?

    I want to make an Application that only has a NotifyIcon. It doesn't need to have at all a "Main" Form. When I want to achieve something like this, I just create an invisible form and run it, but would there be a more "elegant" way of doing this, I'd like to know it. How do you generally do this? This application can't be a Windows Service, as having the NotifyIcon and its Context Menus is important (each one of them will run a different command). Thanks

  • Newbie question on MvcContrib TestHelpers

    Hi, I'm just starting to use the TestHelpers in MvcContrib. I want to try and test an action method on my controller that itself tests if IsAjaxRequest() is true. I've used the same code that is shown in the TestHelper samples to set up the TestControllerBuilder _controller = new StarsController(); _builder = new TestControllerBuilder(); _builder.InitializeController(_controller); So that _controller has all the faked/mocked HttpContext inside it, which is really great. But what do I do now to force IsAjaxRequest() on the internally faked Request object to return true?

  • odd nullreference error at foreach when rendering view

    This error is so weird I Just can't really figure out what is really wrong! In UserController I have public virtual ActionResult Index() { var usersmdl = from u in RepositoryFactory.GetUserRepo().GetAll() select new UserViewModel { ID = u.ID, UserName = u.Username, UserGroupName = u.UserGroupMain.GroupName, BranchName = u.Branch.BranchName, Password = u.Password, Ace = u.ACE, CIF = u.CIF, PF = u.PF }; if (usersmdl != null) { return View(usersmdl.AsEnumerable()); } return View(); } My view is of type @model IEnumerable<UserViewModel> on the top. This is what happens: Where and what exactly IS null!? I create the users from a fake repository with moq. I also wrote unit tests, which pass, to ensure the right amount of mocked users are returned. Maybe someone can point me in the right direction here? Top of the stack trace is : at lambda_method(Closure , User ) at System.Linq.Enumerable.WhereSelectArrayIterator`2.MoveNext() at ASP.Index_cshtml.Execute() Is it something to do with linq here? Tell me If I should include the full stack trace.

  • ASP MVC: E-mail Verification (Encrypting the activation link)

    Okay i'm a little bit stuck on how to solve this problem. When a user registers. I want to send him a link so that he can verify hes email address. But i have troubles generating the link. I've already written the controller to accept the links with the correct keys. i only have no idea on how to generate the activation keys. So when the user registers i'll send him a link by mail like this: Your activation link is : http://site.com/user/verify?key=keyhere Now i have created this method (called by the controller/action) to handle the key in the link: public string Verify(string value) { String email = Decrypt(value); user u = gebRep.GetUsers().WithEmail(email).SingleOrDefault(); if (u != null) { u.emailValid = true; userReppository.Save(); } return "Invallid validation value!"; } Now my problem is I have no idea on how to encrypt and decrypt the email into some sort of key (url friendly) So i can mail it with the link and can use it to verify the email.   • PropertyGrid - is it customizable?

    I have a project in that we have to represent some graphic objects on a usercontrol in WYSIWYG. Also is required to edit each objects properties(Color, Location, etc). I hesitate between using PropertyGrid ('direct' properties edit) and custom forms on DoubleClick ('indirect' edit). The PropertyGrid is very well but should correspond a some criteria: Only selected properties are Displayed (by e.g. if I have TextRectangle want display only Text and Location); Property names should be customizable and internationalizable (by e.g. TextRectangle Text property should be named "Company Name" or "???????? ???????????"). Now about is it possible I think the answer could be Yes, but is it reasonable to use it if we have not a lot of time. What could be quicker implemented, custom forms or Property panel?

  • Use LINQ to count the number of combinations existing in two lists

    I'm trying to create a LINQ query (or queries) that count the total number of occurences of a combinations of items in one list that exist in a different list. For example, take the following lists: CartItems DiscountItems ========= ============= AAA AAA AAA BBB AAA BBB BBB CCC CCC DDD The result of the query operation should be 2 since I can find two combinations of AAA and BBB (from DiscountItems) within the contents of CartItems. My thinking in approaching the query is to join the lists together to shorten CartItems to only include items from DiscountItems. The solution would be to find the CartItem in the resulting query that occurs the least amount of times, thus indicating how many combinations of items exist in CartItems. How can this be done? Here's the query I already have, but it's not working. query results in an enumeration with 100 items, far more than I expected.     Hello! I have a localized application, and I am wondering if it is possible to have the DisplayName for a certain model property set from a Resource. I'd like to do something like this: public class MyModel { [Required] [DisplayName(Resources.Resources.labelForName)] public string name{ get; set; } } But I can't to it, as the compiler says: "An attribute argument must be a constant expression, typeof expression or array creation expression of an attribute parameter type" :( Are there any workarounds? I am outputting labels manually, but I need these for the validator output!

  • Architecting a generic search result web control

    In a project I'm currently working for we've stumbled upon the need for several kinds of search results presentation controls. The search result are similar, but not identical. For example, in the "office search" result we might want to present the office name and location, while in the "document search" could contain document name, author and publishing date. These fields should be sortable. My current strategy is to employ the Factory pattern and do something like this: ISearchResult officeResults = SearchResultFactory.CreateOfficeSearchResults(data); ISearchResult documentResults = SearchResultFactory.CreateDocumentSearchResults(data); The problem is: I don't know how to implement the markup code. Should I just do Controls.Add(officeResults); in the containing page? Or is there some ASPX trickery to create generic web controls? Or maybe I'm overthinking this and just should create five classes? ;)

  • Web API Getting Http 500 error : Issue Solved See Below

    Here is my MVC Controller and everything is fine: private UnitOfWork UOW; public InventoryController() { UOW = new UnitOfWork(); } // GET: /Inventory/ public ActionResult Index() { var products = UOW.ProductRepository.GetAll().ToList(); return View(products); } Same method call in API Controller gives me an Http 500 Error: private UnitOfWork _unitOfWork; public TestController() { _unitOfWork = new UnitOfWork(); } public IEnumerable<Product> Get() { var products = _unitOfWork.ProductRepository.GetAll().ToList(); return products; } Debugging shows that indeed there is data being returned in both controllers' UOW calls. I then added a customer configuration in Global: public static void CustomizeConfig(HttpConfiguration config) { config.Formatters.Remove(config.Formatters.XmlFormatter); var json = config.Formatters.JsonFormatter; json.SerializerSettings.ContractResolver = new CamelCasePropertyNamesContractResolver(); } I am still receiving an Http 500 in API Controller ONLY and at a loss as to why. Any ideas? UPDATE: It appears using lazy loading caused the problem. When I set the associated properties to NON-VIRTUAL the Test API provided the necessary JSON string. However, whereas before I had the Vendor class included, I only have VendorId. I really wanted to included the associated classes. Any ideas? I know there are alot of smart people out there. Anyone?

  • Could not load file or assembly error even when reference has been removed

    Could not load file or assembly 'Payflow_dotNET_2.0' or one of its dependencies. The located assembly's manifest definition does not match the assembly reference. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80131040) I tried to reference the payflow SDK and got this error.But I am no longer trying to reference it. I have removed all references to this dll. and Now I am just trying to get the project to start in VS but I still get this error. I am not trying to add the dll anymore.If i have removed the reference to this, why am I still getting this error? How can I remove anything else that may still be causing my program to look for this file? Thanks!

"not find enough memory to COMPILE a method? " IMHO - the code should be already compiled... no ? when Im writing c# code - the whole code is compiled to IL before its running... no? but according to the text - at RUNTIME - he MAY find insufficient memory for compile... Help ?

    Is there a way to know what parameters are needed by an event in Visual Studio 2010? Let's say I have a DropDownList control and I want to bind a method to the "OnSelectedIndexChanged", I would do something like this In the ASPX File: <asp:DropDownList ID="lstMyList" runat="server" OnSelectedIndexChanged="lstMyList_SelectedIndexChanged"></asp:DropDownList> In the codebehind: protected void lstMyList_SelectedIndexChanged(object sender, EventArgs e) { ... } Is there a way to know what parameters the method needs? (In this case, an object for the sender and an EventArgs parameter for the event.) I know you can easily create the method by double-clicking the right event in Design Mode, but it does a mess with your code so I prefer not to use it. Thanks!

I have divided the query to make it simple and using linq to remove complexity of query. now I am inserting records using for loop. there are approx 10000 records. Again, same problem. I put a breakpoint after loop, but No hit. I have used try catch, but no error found. I keep current user id and user type in session and authenticate user from these session variables (say Session["UserId"],Session["UserName"] and Session["UserType"]) I do authentications. Please guide me how it is insecure ? I heard such security can be broken and applications can be hacked very easily, like it is possible to get session id and directly connect to that session id etc. Please guide me on this thanks
