  A few weeks ago, I asked a question about how to generate hierarchical XML from a table, that has a parentID column. It all works fine. The point is, according to the hierarchy, I also want to query a table.   Currently I have 2 tables, both of the tables have the same structure and are going to be used in a web application. the two tables are production and temp. The temp table contains one additional column called [signed up]. Currently I generate a single list using two columns that are found in each table (recno and name). Using these two fields I'm able to support my web application search function. Now what I need to do is support limiting the amount of items that can be used in the search on the second table. the reason for this is become once a person is "signed up" a similar record is created in the production table and will have its own recno. doing: Select recno, name from production UNION ALL Select recno, name from temp ...will show me everyone. I have tried: Select recno, name from production UNION ALL Select recno, name from temp WHERE signup <> 'Y' But this returns nothing? Can anyone help?

• Running out of memory with UIImage creation on an offscreen Bitmap Context by NSOperation

  I have an app with multiple UIView subclasses that acts as pages for a UIScrollView. UIViews are moved back and forth to provide a seamless experience to the user. No retain or release is involved in the process. The problem is that after a while I run out of memory. The number of the UIViews is static. CGImageRef and UIImage are created, retained and released correctly (or so it seems to me). Instruments does not show any leaks, just the free memory available dip constantly, rise a few times, and then dip even lower until the application is terminated. The app cycles through about 2-300 of the aforementioned pages before that, but I would expect to have the memory usage reach a more or less stable level of used memory after a bunch of pages have been already skimmed at fast speed or, since the images are up to 3MB in size, deplete way earlier. Any suggestion will be greatly appreciated.

  Hi , I have my code working etc for the pagination plugin but I have a slight error. When I add a table above my table which works with the sorter and pagination the pagination does not work. I think it is because that the table above it is taking the all the features and not using them. So is there a way to define which table to use like using a ID ?   I received some great help on joining a table to itself and am trying to take it to the next level. The SQL below is from the help but with my addition of the select line beginning with COUNT, the inner join to the Recipient table, and the Group By. This code works fine except that I also want to get results where there are 0 matching rows in Recipient. I want 15 rows (= the number of events) but I get 2 rows, one with a count of 1 and one with a count of 2 (which is appropriate for an inner join as there are 3 rows in the sample Recipient table, one for one EventID and two for another EventID). I thought that either a LEFT join or an OUTER join was what I was looking for, but I know that I'm not quite getting how the tables are actually joined. A LEFT join there gives me one more row with 0, which happens to be EventID 1 (first thing in the table), but that's all. Errors advise me that I can't just change that INNER join to an OUTER. I tried some parenthesizing and some subselects and such but can't seem to make it work.

• Help with iphone dev - beyond bounds error

  I'm just learning iphone development, so please forgive me for what is probably a beginner error. I've searched around and haven't found anything specific to my problem, so hopefully it is an easy fix. The book has examples of building a table from data hard coded via an array. Unfortunately it never really tells you how to get data from a URL, so I've had to look that up and that is where my problems show up. When I debug in xcode, it seems like the count is correct, so I don't understand why it is going out of bounds? • Linq to Sql Data class in dbml

  I am abit curious about dbml.... Should I create one dbml file for one database or separated into different parts e.g. User dbml (only tables relate to users) etc? When I do this I will have abit of problems. Assume the User dbml has a User table and if the Order dbml has a User table as well, this won't be allowed if the entity namespace are the same. If I have set a different entity namespace for each of the dbml, it works but this will gives me a different entity of User table. When a single data returns to Business Logic layer, there is a difficulty of knowing which entity namespace of the user table to be used. If I built one dbml file instead of having separate dbml, will single dbml appear slower than the separated dbml version when fetching the data from the database.

  I am using subsonic simplerepo with migrations in dev and it makes things pretty easy but I keep running into issues with my nvarchar columns that have an index. My users table has an index defined on the username column for obvious reasons but each time I start the project subsonic is doing this: ALTER TABLE [Users] ALTER COLUMN Username nvarchar(50); which causes this: The index 'IX_Username' is dependent on column 'Username'.ALTER TABLE ALTER COLUMN Username failed because one or more objects access this column Is there any way around this issue?

  Is there a way to prevent Doctrine from assigning a contraint on both sides of a one-to-one relationship? Ive tried moving the definition from one side to the other and using owning side but it still places a constraint on both tables. when I only want the parent table to have a constraint - ie. its possible for the parent to not have an associated child.   Hi, I have implemented inheritance for two parent classes called Table and Field. Each parent class has several child classes. In the Table parent class, I created a method that expects parameter List(Of Field). I get an error when trying to pass in parameter List(Of ChildField) to the method that expects a parameter of List(Of Field). The error message is as below: Value of type 'System.Collections.Generic.List(Of com.hlb.icisbatch.data.ChildField)' cannot be converted to 'System.Collections.Generic.List(Of com.hlb.icisbatch.data.Field)' My question, is it possible to pass in list of child class as parameter? If it is not a list then it works fine. But somehow it is not possible with lists?   As it turns out I don't know CSS. I ran into a brick wall after using Eric Meyer's CSS reset (http://meyerweb.com/eric/tools/css/reset/) I have a table with this style table.home_right_top, .home_right_top table, .home_right_top { background-color: #F2F2F2; width: 100%; padding: 10px 20px 15px 20px; } but the padding is not applied to the table at all and I cannot figure out why. I am happy that I see the same behavior on all the browsers including IE7 and IE8 but I don't see any padding. Can someone please tell me what I am doing wrong here? Thanks.

  I’d like to list all the people ( Person table ) that don’t live in same city as those cities listed in Location table. Thus, if Location table holds a record with City=’New York’ and State=’Moon’, but Person table holds a record with FirstName=’Someone’, City=’New York’ and Location=’Mars’, then Someone is listed in the resulting set, since she lives in New York located on Mars and not New York located on Moon, thus we’re talking about different cities with the same name.   I have an example database, it contains tables for Movies, People and Credits. The Movie table contains a Title and an Id. The People table contains a Name and an Id. The Credits table relates Movies to the People that worked on those Movies, in a particular role. The table looks like this: CREATE TABLE [dbo].[Credits] ( [Id] [int] IDENTITY (1, 1) NOT NULL PRIMARY KEY, [PersonId] [int] NOT NULL FOREIGN KEY REFERENCES People(Id), [MovieId] [int] NOT NULL FOREIGN KEY REFERENCES Movies(Id), [Role] [char] (1) NULL In this simple example, the [Role] column is a single character, by my convention either 'A' to indicate the person was an actor on that particular movie, or 'D' for director. I'd like to perform a query on a particular person that returns the person's name, plus a list of all the movies the person has worked on, and the roles in those movies. If I were to serialize it to json, it might look like this: { "name" : "Clint Eastwood", "movies" : [ { "title": "Unforgiven", "roles": ["actor", "director"] }, { "title": "Sands of Iwo Jima", "roles": ["director"] }, { "title": "Dirty Harry", "roles": ["actor"] }, ... ] } How can I write a LINQ-to-SQL query that shapes the output like that? • How do I define a Calculated Measure in MDX based on a Dimension Attribute?

  I would like to create a calculated measure that sums up only a specific subset of records in my fact table based on a dimension attribute. Given: Dimension Date LedgerLineItem {Charge, Payment, Write-Off, Copay, Credit} Measures LedgerAmount Relationships * LedgerLineItem is a degenerate dimension of FactLedger If I break down LedgerAmount by LedgerLineItem.Type I can easily see how much is charged, paid, credit, etc, but when I do not break it down by LedgerLineItem.Type I cannot easily add the credit, paid, credit, etc into a pivot table. I would like to create separate calculated measures that sum only specific type (or multiple types) of ledger facts. An example of the desired output would be: | Year | Charged | Total Paid | Amount - Ledger | | 2008 | $1000 | $600 | -$400 | | 2009 | $2000 | $1500 | -$500 | | Total | $3000 | $2100 | -$900 | I have tried to create the calculated measure a couple of ways and each one works in some circumstances but not in others. Now before anyone says do this in ETL, I have already done it in ETL and it works just fine. What I am trying to do as part of learning to understand MDX better is to figure out how to duplicate what I have done in the ETL in MDX as so far I am unable to do that. Here are two attempts I have made and the problems with them. This works only when ledger type is in the pivot table. It returns the correct amount of the ledger entries (although in this case it is identical to [amount - ledger] but when I try to remove type and just get the sum of all ledger entries it returns unknown. CASE WHEN ([Ledger].[Type].currentMember = [Ledger].[Type].&[Credit]) OR ([Ledger].[Type].currentMember = [Ledger].[Type].&[Paid]) OR ([Ledger].[Type].currentMember = [Ledger].[Type].&[Held Money: Copay]) THEN [Measures].[Amount - ledger] ELSE 0 END This works only when ledger type is not in the pivot table. It always returns the total payment amount, which is incorrect when I am slicing by type as I would only expect to see the credit portion under credit, the paid portion, under paid, $0 under charge, etc. sum({([Ledger].[Type].&[Credit]), ([Ledger].[Type].&[Paid]), ([Ledger].[Type].&[Held Money: Copay])}, [Measures].[Amount - ledger]) Is there any way to make this return the correct numbers regardless of whether Ledger.Type is included in my pivot table or not?

  Hi! I have Access DB with One StudentTable. I have created multiple queries from that table then Exported to SharePoint Different Sites. Student table is exported to Site Collection. I added multiple records to Student Table that is uploded in site collection. Now My problem is - those new records don't get reflected to other list (created queries and exported to SP sites) that are in different sites Is there any way to work around above problem.
