• Rounded corners on Divs. Problem with Internet Explorer only!

  Has anybody experienced any problems with creating rounded corners on Divs? I am using the jQuery plugin from http://jquery.malsup.com/corner/ The problem is that the top corners are not rounding in Internet Explorer. Works fine with Firefox! Anybody got any advice? • Strange CSS Positioning issue with a fader on a responsive site

  I'm developing a prototype responsive wordpress theme version of my homepage. I'm running into issues with the fader on the homepage. http://dev.epicwebdesign.ca/epicblog/ When the image switches, it uses position:absolute to overlay the pictures, then goes back to position:relative. I need to make the absolute be relative to the bottom left corner of the menu instead of the top left corner of #wrap so it doesn't overlap. I tried putting it in a container div like this: http://wiki.orbeon.com/forms/doc/contributor-guide/browser#TOC-Absolutely-positioned-box-inside-a-box-with-overflow:-auto-or-hidden but that doesn't seem to work. Any ideas? There are major CSS compatibility issues in IE, try it in chrome. It should look similar to http://epicwebdesign.ca. When the browser window is shrunk horizontially, the whole theme compensates.

  I have the Lat/Long value of New York City, NY; 40.7560540,-73.9869510 and a flat image of the earth, 1000px × 446px. I would like to be able to convert, using Javascript, the Lat/Long to an X,Y coordinate where the point would reflect the location. So the X,Y coordinate form the Top-Left corner of the image would be; 289, 111 Things to note: don't worry about issues of what projection to use, make your own assumption or go with what you know might work X,Y can be form any corner of the image Bonus points for the same solution in PHP (but I really need the JS)

I don't understand how to wrap the arrow with this: ui-state-default ui-corner-all because themeroller is using list items, and I'm using table head cells. • Weird Perspective With CATransform3DMakeRotation

  I'm having an odd problem with CATransform3DMakeRotation. When the rotated view is in the center of the superview, it looks like this: This is how it's supposed to look. However, when it's somewhere else in the superview, say, in the lower left corner, it looks like this: Note that it is tilted to the right. Same thing happens when it's in the lower right corner, only that it tilts to the left. Is there some way to make it tilt the way it should all the time and in every position?

  Hey there, I'm trying to implement a way to slide&fade controls around (more than one at the same time possibly) elegantly. So in other words, say i had a picture in the top left corner, and a texbox in the bottom right corner, i'd like to be able to have them slide. not just snap. slide, to the opposite corners and replace eachothers position. Ive been working for awhile but have not come up with anything efficient, even just some of the basic math calculations would be a great start.

I have an online web app where I can drag and drop annotations (arrows, stars) on top of an image that sits on a DIV. Here's some things to know. 1) The image can be any size (sometimes big sometimes small) 2) The DIV of wrapper can be left aligned or centered 3) The DIV of wrapper can be fixed or auto So is there any possible solution to make it so positions of annotations are always relative to the top left corner of the image? So I am using jQuery. How would I get an annotation's position always relative to the top left corner of an image once I drop object? Thanks!

  I want to position a modal dialog (progress window) at the top right corner of the parent window client area. This code will put it in the corner of the non-client area, but how do I calculate the offset to the client area? this.Owner=owner; this.Left=owner.Left+owner.ActualWidth-Width; this.Top=owner.Top; Edit: I found this 'solution' that works for normal windows: this.Left=owner.Left+owner.ActualWidth-Width-SystemParameters.ResizeFrameVerticalBorderWidth; this.Top=owner.Top+SystemParameters.ResizeFrameHorizontalBorderHeight+SystemParameters.WindowCaptionHeight; This would however fail for windows that have customized borders. EDIT: The code should work regardless of the systems DPI setting (e.g. 120 instead of 96).

  I know there are many variations of this question posted, but none I've found quite provide an answer that works for this case. I basically have two left floated divs. Inside those two divs are div headers and tabled content. I want the Div headers (Hour/Minute) to stretch to the width of the tabled content, but they only do this in FF and Chrome, not IE7. IE7 is my works official browser so the one I need it to work with the most.   Hey! I'm creating a Silverlight 4 Out Of Browser application. I have my MainPage that will be the "central" application. I want to be able to display another Control next to the MainPage, by using a Popup and I want it to be displayed right next to the MainPage. How can I get the coordinates of the upper right corner of the MainPage at each moment? (Beware that this MainPage can be moved all over the screen and hence I will need to dynamically get the corner coordinates, in order to display my popup right next to the main window).   I have a Spinner and 2 buttons in an Activity Group. I want to apply rounded corner to the buttons. I have created shape xml resource file for round button in Android. I have assigned this resource file as background to the button while creating the button in Layout. But the change is not reflected after executing the application. I have set the ContentView for that screen as : setContentView(LayoutInflater.from(getParent()).inflate(R.layout.textmessage,null)); This has to be done to make spinner work in an Activity Group.   Hi, I have two questions about jQuery UI Dialog: (1) How can I open a big dialog with topleft corner at my mouseclick point (and if the point is very near the right-bottom corner of my viewport, the dialog will be partly outside the viewport)? I know I can set position for the dialog, but it seems the dialog always overrides my position specifications by bringing itself wholly back into the viewport. (2) If I have multiple dialogs open, how can I find the one that is currently topmost (and if there are several topmost ones that do not overlap, find any one of them)? Thanks!

  I am trying to use the jQuery dialog UI library in order to position a dialog next to some text when it is hovered over. The jQuery dialog takes a position parameter which is measured from the top left corner of the current viewport (in other words, [0, 0] will always put it in the upper left hand corner of your browser window, regardless of where you are currently scrolled to). However, the only way I know to retrieve the location is of the element relative to the ENTIRE page. The following is what I have currently. position.top is calculated to be something like 1200 or so, which puts the dialog well below the rest of the content on the page. $(".mytext").mouseover(function() { position = $(this).position(); $("#dialog").dialog('option', 'position', [position.top, position.left]); } How can I find the correct position? • Intersection of line and rectangle with maximum segment length

  I have a vector represented by the slope m. Then there is rectangle (assume axis aligned), which is represented by top-left and bottom-right corner. Of course, there may be many lines with slope m and intersecting the given rectangle. The problem is to find out the line whose length of line intercept inside the rectangle is maximum among all such lines. i.e., if the line intersects rectangle at P1 and P2, then the problem is to find the equation of line for which length of P1P2 is maximum. I proceeded like this. Let the line is: y = m*x + c. Then find out the intersection with each side of rectangle and finding out the maxima for distance function between each pair of points. But it will only give me the length of line segment and there seem to be many corner cases to handle. Could anyone please suggest a better way to do this. Thanks in advance.

• jquery.position() isn't working correctly.

  I'm working on a menu system where I want a ul to show as a dropdown when the users does a mouseOver on li in another ul. I thought I'd use position to set the position of the dropdown (so it actually looks like a menu). What I want is the dropdown's top left corner to start at the same place as the bottom left corner of the wrapping listitem. Unfortunately the positioning fails in several different ways: In Firefox it seems like the dropdown's are offset with approximately -100 25 pixels the first item in the list has a different offset on the left side compared to the other items The offset in IE is not the same as in FF Doing the positioning repeatedly in explorer results in different positions each time. Below is the code for that, MessageBoxResult res= System.Windows.MessageBox.Show("Could not find the folder, so the D: Drive will be opened instead."); if (res == MessageBoxResult.OK) { MessageBox.Show("OK"); } else { MessageBox.Show("Do Nothing"); } Now, when the user clicks on the OK button, I want certain code to execute but when they click on the red cross at the upper right corner, I just want the messagebox to close without doing anything. In my case I get 'OK' displayed even when I click on the red cross icon at the upper right corner. Is there a way I can have 'Do Nothing' displayed when I click on the cross. I not want to add any more buttons.

• Turn Non-Resizeable Windows into Rezieable Windows

  Are you frustrated with Windows app windows that can not be resized at all? Now you can apply some “attitude adjustment” and resize those windows with ResizeEnable. Before Everyone is familiar with the many app windows in their Windows OS that simply can not be resized. What you need is cooperation, not attitude. For our example we chose the “Taskbar and Start Menu Properties Window”…notice the cursor in the lower right corner. No resizing satisfaction available at all… After The program comes in a zip file with three files as shown here. Once you have unzipped the program place it in an appropriate “Program Files Folder”, create a shortcut, and you are ready to go. There will be a “System Tray Icon” with only two “Context Menu” items…“About & Quit”. Here is a quick look at the “About Window” that tells you exactly what ResizeEnable does. Notice that it does state that you may occasionally have a window that may not respond correctly. Now back to our “Taskbar and Start Menu Properties Window”. Notice the resizing cursor in the lower right corner….time for some fun! During our test the “Taskbar and Start Menu Properties Window” was suddenly a dream to resize. Daring to stretch the window even further…now that is what you call “stretching” the window out in comparison to its’ original size! Think of all the windows that will be much easier to work with now… Conclusion If you have been frustrated with non-resizeable windows then ResizeEnable will certainly bring a smile to your face as you watch those windows suddenly become a lot more cooperative. This is definitely one app that is worth adding to your system. • Do not use “using” in WCF Client

  You know that any IDisposable object must be disposed using using. So, you have been using using to wrap WCF service’s ChannelFactory and Clients like this: using(var client = new SomeClient()) {. ..} Or, if you are doing it the hard and slow way (without really knowing why), then: using(var factory = new ChannelFactory<ISomeService>()) {var channel= factory.CreateChannel();...} That’s what we have all learnt in school right? We have learnt it wrong! When there’s a network related error or the connection is broken, or the call is timed out before Dispose is called by the using keyword, then it results in the following exception when the using keyword tries to dispose the channel: failed: System.ServiceModel.CommunicationObjectFaultedException : The communication object, System.ServiceModel.Channels.ServiceChannel, cannot be used for communication because it is in the Faulted state. Server stack trace: at System.ServiceModel.Channels.CommunicationObject.Close(TimeSpan timeout) Exception rethrown at [0]: at System.Runtime.Remoting.Proxies.RealProxy.HandleReturnMessage(IMessage reqMsg, IMessage retMsg) at System.Runtime.Remoting.Proxies.RealProxy.PrivateInvoke(MessageData& msgData, Int32 type) at System.ServiceModel.ICommunicationObject.Close(TimeSpan timeout) at System.ServiceModel.ClientBase`1.System.ServiceModel.ICommunicationObject.Close(TimeSpan timeout) at System.ServiceModel.ClientBase`1.Close() at System.ServiceModel.ClientBase`1.System.IDisposable.Dispose() There are various reasons for which the underlying connection can be at broken state before the using block is completed and the .Dispose() is called. The point is, it might seem like a corner case, but it’s a likely corner case. If you are building a highly available client, you need to treat this properly before you go-live. So, do NOT use using on WCF Channel/Client/ChannelFactory. Instead you need to use an alternative.
