  Hello All, I am developing a web application using Struts 1.2.7 I want to print a list of integers using the tag. I searched and found that the format attribute is used to print the desired result but was unsuccessful. What should I pass as the value in format to print 3 digit integers/floating point numbers. • Do similar passwords have similar hashes?

  Our computer system at work requires users to change their password every few weeks, and you cannot have the same password as you had previously. It remembers something like 20 of your last passwords. I discovered most people simply increment a digit at the end of their password, so "thisismypassword1" becomes "thisismypassword2" then 3, 4, 5 etc. Since all of these passwords are stored somewhere, I wondered if there was any weakness in the hashes themselves, for standard hashing algorithms used to store passwords like MD5. Could a hacker increase their chances of brute-forcing the password if they have a list of hashes of similar passwords?

• Python programming. Accessing Windows rigth click menu options

  I'm hoping to automate a few tasks at work. One of them being combining and converting power point files to PDFs. I'm a bit of a newbie (I just finished Magus Heitland's Beginning Python), so I'm not entirely sure what I'm specifically asking. On windows, one can select multiple files, right click, and select combine as adobe PDF. I've figured out the 'grouping' of the files I want to convert (I traverse the dir and nest the files inside of a list based on their names), but I'm unsure how to pursue the next step (the rightclick/combine command). Googling has led me to things like win32api, pywinauto, and ctypes. But as I read over what they do my newbieness prevents me from knowing which is the tool I need. Could any one suggest a few good resources or tips?

• iPhone tableview: titleForHeaderInSection derived from array

  I have a tableview that is populated by an array. Currently the tableview has no grouping. What I would like to do is check a value of each array object, such as State, and group all the CA items together, all the OR items together, etc. Then, assign those groups a title. The array is dynamic, and will grow and get new values in the future, so I can't hardcode titles, I would like these to somehow come from my initial array. Currently I am using the following, but it does not take into account sorting of the array, or if I removed all of the items in the array that have to do with California. - (NSString *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView titleForHeaderInSection:(NSInteger)section { if (section == 0) { return @"California"; } else if (section == 1) { return @"Washington"; } else { return @"Utah"; } }//end tableView So, I am confusing myself as to how this would be possible.   I have the following string: const char *str = "\"This is just some random text\" 130 28194 \"Some other string\" \"String 3\"" I would like to get the the integer 28194 of course the integer varies, so I can't do strstr("20194"). So I was wondering what would be a good way to get that part of the string? I was thinking to use #include <regex.h> which I already have a procedure to match regexp's but not sure how the regexp in C will look like using the POSIX style notation. [:alpha:]+[:digit:] and if performance will be an issue. Or will it be better using strchr,strstr? Any ideas will be appreciate it

• Validating a text box value using javascript

  Hi all, I have a textbox.The user will be entering entering a number in this box.The user should enter two digits followed by a period "." and another digit.It would look something like 22.3 or 00.5 or 01.2. If the textbox is not empty,I want to enforce a function which validates the value entered by the user(and gives them an alert if the value entered is not according to the format mentioned above) .This function needs to be triggered when the textbox loses its focus.I am not sure how to go ahead in writing this function as i am still new to this. Any help would be appreciated.Thanks in advance. p.s This function should be triggered each time there is a change in the value.Like suppose, the user enters a value 22, then when the textbox loses its focus,the javascript function should be triggered giving them an alert asking the user to change it to the accepted format which is 22.0.The function should be triggered again when the textbox loses its focus(after the change has been done).This time there would not be an alert since the user entered it in the right format.

• DB2 Select - Replace STATES with two character code

  I have a Users Table where it stores city, state and country along with other Users attributes. The states are stored as California, Alabama and so forth. Now I want to retrieve the user information for certain records but the state should get translated to two digit code. Say 'California' should be 'CA'. How should I go about doing this. I was thinking to create a mapping table for state names with there abbreviation and then use some sort of replace function to do it. Any ideas ?

  Hi Experts, I had a Ribbon like custom control. I created an application using this control. These applications work fine until I change the system number format. They crashes if I change the system number format like below: Current Format = English (United State) Decimal symbol = ',' Digit group symbol = '.' When I run applications, they throw an exception "Input string not in Correct format". . Some other applications specify the Exception's message = "Input string '0,2,0,2' was not a correct format", so I think in Wpf ES's xaml files, we may declare some properties i.e Padding, Margin like "0,2,0,2" = that will cause errors with the system number format above. I have note that this error only occurs in Windows Vista, it does not occurs on Windows XP. I do not know why? • Excel plugin: Finding a Chart's Source Data Number Format String

  I'm currently working on a plugin for excel (using VB.net--not VBA) that will attempt (among other things) to recognize the format of the source data of a chart and configure the chart's series' number format strings appropriately. That is, yearly data should always be two numbers, monthly data should always be a 3-letter month followed by a 2-digit year, etc. The goal is to have a uniform representation across all charts for monthly data, annual data, daily data, etc. My question is this: how do I find the number format string for the cells (or any cell that is part of that series, as I will be assuming all cells that make up a particular series have the same format) that represent the source data for the chart? Note: I can assume that the chart will always point to a range of cells (not, for example, an array of data).

But I am getting only last expression pattern , which means fifth expression of if condition . Here I know that it is giving only one pattern because last pattern matching in if condition. • R matrix handling expressions aren't evaluated in a function or a "for" loop - Column extract doesn't seem to work

  I have an R matrix named ddd. When I enter this, everything works fine: i <- 1 shapiro.test(ddd[,y]) ad.test(ddd[,y]) stem(ddd[,y]) print(y) The calls to Shapiro Wilk, Anderson Darling, and stem all work, and extract the same column. If I put this code in a "for" loop, the calls to Shapiro Wilk, and Anderson Darling stop working, while the the stem & leaf call and the print call continue to work. for (y in 7:10) { shapiro.test(ddd[,y]) ad.test(ddd[,y]) stem(ddd[,y]) print(y) } The decimal point is 1 digit(s) to the right of the | 0 | 0 0 | 899999 1 | 0 [1] 7 The same thing happens if I try and write a function. SW & AD do not work. The other calls do. • displaying mac address in right format

  Hi, I am obtaining the mac(hw) address of an interface using CWNetwork. Now OS X gives me this mac address in the xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx format. But if the first digit is 0, OS X will output the address as 4:aa:dd:ee:34:40, instead of 04:aa:dd:ee:34:40. Now I am trying to take this string 4:aa:dd:ee:34:40 and convert it to 04:aa:dd:ee:34:40 before displaying it. Any ideas ? APpreciate the help.

  Hi, I need to know what can be the main reasons (apart from the basics like grouping CSS selectors, reducing image size, using image sprite etc.) which makes a website slow on Internet Explorer, because my website works fine on the others like FF, chrome etc. Is it the huge use of Javascript framework (ie. jQuery, extjs, prototype)? Is it because of the use of plugins based on JS framework? Should I use core javascript and remove the use of any js framework? Should I try to avoid using jQuery(document).ready()? in case of jQuery framework? Above some of the questions which I know and please answer the questions which I couldn't ask because of lesser knowledge about these. I need to make my website perform well on IE (6,7,8) also please suggest. Thanks

• Large static arrays are slowing down class load, need a better/faster lookup method

  I have a class with a couple static arrays: an int[] with 17,720 elements a string[] with 17,720 elements I noticed when I first access this class it takes almost 2 seconds to initialize, which causes a pause in the GUI that's accessing it. Specifically, it's a lookup for Unicode character names. The first array is an index into the second array. static readonly int[] NAME_INDEX = { 0x0000, 0x0001, 0x0005, 0x002C, 0x003B, ... static readonly string[] NAMES = { "Exclamation Mark", "Digit Three", "Semicolon", "Question Mark", ... The following code is how the arrays are used (given a character code). [Note: This code isn't a performance problem] int nameIndex = Array.BinarySearch<int>(NAME_INDEX, code); if (nameIndex > 0) { return NAMES[nameIndex]; } I guess I'm looking at other options on how to structure the data so that 1) The class is quickly loaded, and 2) I can quickly get the "name" for a given character code. Should I not be storing all these thousands of elements in static arrays?

  PHP has many built-in functions to validate numbers but they all expect input in computer format: 1234.56. I need to validate stuff like 1,234.56 (English) or 1.234,56 (Spanish), together with some typical attributes (accepted range, max number of decimals, etc.). I started writing my own function but I soon got lost. It's easy to read the user input into a float variable but I want to be able to detect numbers with invalid formats like 1,23456.7 or 1..25. Do you have any recommendation on the subject? (Decimal and thousand characters are known beforehand and it's okay to hard-code digit groups as three, there's no need to cover Indian number format.)

  I have a SharePoint list I converted to XSLT to do some additional grouping and counting and percentages. I need to return the number of items = true within my nodeset, I have: <xsl:value-of select="count($nodeset/@PartnerArrivedAtCall)"/> (which returns the count of all the nodes) I have tried <xsl:value-of select="count($nodeset/@PartnerArrivedAtCall [@PartnerArrivedAtCall = 'Yes'])"/> (returns zero) and <xsl:variable name="ArrivedYes" select="$nodeset/@PartnerArrivedAtCall [@PartnerArrivedAtCall='Yes']"/> (also returns zero) Can you please give me a good example of how to count only the true values (in my XML, true = "Yes") Thanks!

• MySQL Query still executing after a day..?

  Hi - I'm trying to isolate duplicates in a 500MB database and have tried two ways to do it. One creating a new table and grouping: CREATE TABLE test_table as SELECT * FROM items WHERE 1 GROUP BY title; But it's been running for an hour and in MySQL Admin it says the status is Locked. The other way I tried was to delete duplicates with this: DELETE bad_rows.* from items as bad_rows inner join ( select post_title, MIN(id) as min_id from items group by title having count(*) 1 ) as good_rows on good_rows.post_title = bad_rows.post_title; ..and this has been running for 24hours now, Admin telling me it's Sending data... Do you think either or these queries are actually still running? How can I find out if it's hung? (with Apple OS X 10.5.7)

  The validations I know of are: Checksum the whole card number should add up to zero. (range is 0-9) Check the first digit(s) against the card type Check the length against the card type Check the CCV length against the card type (I think all the major types are 3 anyway) Of course make sure it is accepted card type as well as non expired. Are there any other validations :) (I expect many folks did not know about all of these) The reason I ask is because I overheard there was one to checksum number against expiration or CCV.. I just wanted to check.

  vector<int> l; for(int i=0;i<10;i++){ l.push_back(i); } I want the vector to only be able to store numbers from a specified range (or set). How can that be done, in general? In particular, I want to restrict the vector to beonly be able to store single digits. So, if I do a l[9]++, it should give me an error or warn me. (because 10 is not a single digit number). Similarly, l[0]-- should warn me. Is there a way to do this using C++ STL vector?
