  • Old PCI Video Card and PCI-Express ATI Radeon HD 4200 Pro Living Together

    I have two video cards installed in a Dell Optiplex 745. The PCI card is from 2001 and I was hoping to be able to install it, allowing me to have 3 monitors. The Radeon is already running two itself. The problem is that when I boot the box with default BIOS settings the PCI card displays video to the single display but not the other two. In device manager I can see that both video cards are visible with drivers loaded correctly but underneath monitors I only have a single Generic PnP monitor from the VGA connection to the PCI card. If I switch the BIOS setting to force PCI-E I get the Radeon to display to the two other monitors. When I check device manager with this configuration I see that the PCI card displays an error saying the driver could not be started. Any ideas?

  • What are the advantages of a $ SKU of VS2012 over Express?

    I will be using Visual Studio only for creating C#/XAML Windows Store apps. Is there any reason for me to purchase a "Professional" SKU of VS 2012 rather than just using the Express (free) "Metro apps with C#/XAML" version? The only thing I can think of is that I won't be able to use Resharper in the Express version (which I've already purchased a license for, but I use it at work, so that won't be a waste of money if I can't use it at home) - plus, I believe that even the Express SKU of VS 2012 will have similar code quality utility built in.

  • Debug JS from browser without a server/localhost

    So something I do very frequently is writing random scripts in JS without really being part of an app. To run them I just paste them in the console of either Chrome of FF which works as a nice REPL, or if I really need more fancy debugging I just add it to my test app on localhost and browse it from the browser. Is there a way to get all the good debugging of a browser (breakpoints, locals, etc), without it being served from a server?, e.g by just copy-pasting my code into console or something?

    I'm using a code-first approach of using the Entity Framework. When I first run the application it will try to create the database matching my MVC models. However, it doesn't have permission to create it I think. I get the following error: CREATE DATABASE permission denied in database 'master'. What user is trying to access the SqlServer and how can I add it's permissions to let it work?     We are trying to set up remote access to a computer that houses a server fro a particular program we are running. The program says we need to configure the office router. In the firewall settings it says to open ports 5345-5351 (TCP only). Port Forwarding: You will also need to forward the same range of ports (5345-5351) to the computer running the Server. This typically requires that the computer running the Server be assigned a static IP on the local network. Having trouble figuring out which IP address we actually need to be using on the client side of this program in order to access the server computer. Can someone walk through this process?? We are working on Mac OSX 10.5. Thank you in advance!

  • Uninstall SQL Server 2005 Express after Demoting the DC

    A Windows Server 2003 SP2 hosting a now orphan installation of SQL 2005 Workgroup was pressed into service as a DC in a disaster recovery scenario. It has since been demoted. The server also hosts legacy apps for which we lack reinstallation resources; thus our desire to preserve it as close to intact as possible while removing the orphaned roles. All efforts to remove SQL 2005 thru Control Panel and ARPWrapper /remove fail with error 29528. Should I abandon this and leave the orphan SQL dormant, or is it reasonable to remove it post-demote?

    Hi I have an project in FCE which was recorded in MPEG-4 video in 1280 x 960 (1,4MB/s) and whenever I import those mov files to FCE thez show just fine. but when i add the clips to the timeline (sequence) the quality is cropped - instead of HD i can onlz export the timeline with quicktime conversion and a resolution of 720 x 480. can anybody help me out and tell me how i can export the timeline in full HD quality (as the raw material itself is)?

    Hi all, Normally we develop in VS 2005 Pro, but I wanted to give VS 2010 a spin. We have custom build tools based off of GNU make tools that are called when creating an executable. This is the error that I see whenever I call my external tool: ...\gnu\make.exe): *** couldn't commit memory for cygwin heap, Win32 error 487 The caveat is that it still works perfectly fine in VS2005, as well as being called straight from the command line. Also, my external tool is setup exactly the same as in VS 2005. Is there some setting somewhere that could cause this error to be thrown?

  • Rails 2 and Ngnix: https pages can't load css or js (but will load graphics)

    ADMISSION: i've posted this same question on stackoverflow, before realising it's probabaly better suited to superuser, but it kind of depends on the answer: If it turns out to be a problem in my nginx config, it's definitely superuser. If it turns out to be a problem in my Rails config (or code) then it's arguably stackoverflow. I'm adding some https pages to my rails site. In order to test it locally, i'm running my site under one mongrel_rails instance (on 3000) and nginx. I've managed to get my nginx config to the point where i can actually go to the https pages, and they load. Except, the javascript and css files all fail to load: looking in the Network tab in chrome web tools, i can see that it is trying to load them via an https url. Eg, one of the non-working file urls is https://cmw-local.co.uk/stylesheets/cmw-logged-out.css?1383759216 I have these set up (or at least think i do) in my nginx config to redirect to the http versions of the static files. This seems to be working for graphics, but not for css and js files. If i click on this in the Network tab, it takes me to the above url, which redirects to the http version. So, the redirect seems to be working in some sense, but not when they're loaded by an https page. Like i say, i thought i had this covered in the second try_files directive in my config below, but maybe not.     I use MS Acess as the front end. Loaded SQL Server 2008 R2 on my laptop. On my laptop (which I want to run the sql/access locally), there is no drop down listing. Under my normal Network (Sql 2000 enterprise edition) condition, the server name is part of the drop down listing. Finally got an ODBC positive test by manually listing in the system dns ODBC connection 'computername\sqlexpress'. Nonetheless, can not get an ODBC connection from Access. How can I get it working?

  • Can't call animated png script from external js file

    Hello, I'm trying to put an animated PNG dinamicaly from external .js file. First I found a simple animated png solution, which draws an animation wherever you put the code within tags, but now it looks like I don't know how to call the function properly from external file. The script is from www.squaregoldfish.co.uk/software/animatedpng, and it looks something like this: <script type="text/javascript" src="animatedpng.js"></script> <div id="pnganim" align="center"> <script> fishAnim = new AnimatedPNG('fish', 't01.png', 3, 100); fishAnim.draw(false); </script> </div> Now, I'm trying to call this from external.js file and jquery: function addFish(){ $('#pnganim').html('<script type="text/javascript" src="animatedpng.js" />'); fishAnim = new AnimatedPNG('fish', 'fish01.png', 3, 100); myFish = fishAnim.draw(false); $('#pnganim').append(myFish); } ... and it's not working. After I click a button that calls the addFish function, it opens only the first frame on a blank page. What am I doing wrong here? Thanks

    Please excuse me if I'm simple here, I want to create a simple widget that people can access from their websites - e.g by copy/past something like <script language="javascript" src="test2.js"></script> <div id="test"></div> anywhere in their web pages. where is dynamically filled via Jquery and the functions in/on test2.js. I can do it if JQuery is actually "printed" on the page of test2.js, but I cannot get any JQuery functions to work if I try to include/call JQuery dynamically. How do you call JQuery via javascript and then get it to work with the functions on the page? And/Or is there an easy way to add the <div id="test"></div> dynamically aswell? Sure I can body.append etc. but that only adds at the bottom of the page. Is there a way to .append in the position where the script include <script language="javascript" src="test2.js"></script> is actually placed? Hope I make sence.

    I've been using capybara for a while, but I'm new to sorcery. I have a very odd problem whereby if I run the specs without Capybara's :js = true functionality I can log in fine, but if I try to specify :js = true on a spec, username/password cannot be found. However, IF I change the scenario spec from (in this case) scenario "adding questions to a project" do to scenario "adding questions to a project", :js => true do login fails with an 'incorrect username/password' combination. Literally the only change is that :js = true. I'm using the default capybara javascript driver. (Loads up Firefox) Any ideas what could be going on here? I'm completely stumped. I'm using Capybara 2.0.1, Sorcery 0.7.13. There is no javascript on the sign in page and save_and_open_page before clicking 'sign in' confirms that the correct details are entered into the username/password fields. Any suggestions really appreciated - I'm at a loss.

    Can I use Visual C++ 2010 Express compiler for commercial use? As far as I know, it was always permitted prior to 2010 version, but now when I start IDE, it writes "For Evaluation Purposes Only". I can't find the full license file anywhere (not in installed files, not in Google), so I'm in doubt, should I use it, or should I downgrade to MSVC++2008 version.
