• 12.04: I need a new network card - and I think this one may work?

  I found this list of compatible USB wireless network adaptors: http://www.cyberciti.biz/tips/linux-usb-wireless-compatibility-adapter-list.html Listed here is the Belkin F5D8053. I'm looking for a store to buy a suitable adaptor in locally and I can't find that particular adaptor - but I can see a Belkin F7D4101az. I think this is simply a newer model - but a Google search for "ubuntu belkin f7d4101az" brings no results - not even people trying to get it to work. Nothing. So I didn't want to purchase it without being sure. • After upgrading to 12.04 lts server, the mouse is intermittently working

  After this upgrade, I've had a problem with the mouse intermittently working and programs crashing (like zentyal crashing and the error reporting application crashing) I also had an error on the screen that said: "Could not grab your mouse. A malisious client may be eavesdropping on your session or you may have just clicked a menu or some application just decided to get focus. Try again." What's going on with this system? Did I really get malware that quickly? This system has been boxed up since 2011. I only did the upgrade today... In regards to the mouse I can move it around, but when I click on something, it doesn't work.

I like jmonkey engine for making desktop games. Its easy to use and it comes with everything you need. Its more that just some libraries. I'm looking for something similar for developing mobile games. I'd like it to be easy to use and have everything included not just a collection of libraries. And I would prefer to write in c++. I'm not looking for "the best". I'm just looking for some engines that match my criteria so I can try them out and see which one works best for me.

• Sound not working

  I am new to ubuntu, but really enjoy it. I do have one issue with setting it up on my computer. It is a GoBook XR-1 and everything works perfectly except there is no sound. I've searched and tried everything that I can think of, even uninstalling ubuntu and trying Windows to see if the speakers worked. I found out that it wasn't the speakers or any hardware issues. I tried to download the Realtek drivers, but still no success.

• How to run a bootable USB drive as my primary PC for an extended period?

  My hard drive has crashed, and I won't be able to buy a new one for a month or two. I've got a 16GB USB 3.0 flash drive that I'd like to have running a persistent ubuntu or ubuntu gnome distro. While it's not the best solution, is it a solution, or is it just a good way to wear out a flash drive? I plan on mostly storing things in Google Drive, so other than wearing out the flash drive, are there any risks involved?

  It occurred to me today that it might be useful to make a list of all the ways to earn money through either actual programming or just programming knowledge. I imagine it's probably a finite list as long as you stick to a reasonable level of granularity. Here's what I have so far: Trading your time for money (i.e. having a job or being a freelancer) Building your own software product (a full-fledged startup or a tiny mobile app or whatever) Giving talks at conferences and meetups Teaching students in a classroom Writing a book or blog (these are products, but non-software products) I've probably missed at least a few. What else is there? (I'm not sure whether this is an appropriate question, by the way. I think I would select the best answer based on how practical/original/interesting/numerous your suggestions are.)

• Clear float issue

  I have a page with the standard navigation bar on the left and the content area taking up the rest of the horizontal area to its side. For modern browsers I am using table-row and table-cell values for the display attribute. However, for IE7 I included a conditional stylesheet that tries to float the nav bar. This works fine except when the content area itself has floated elements and I try to use clear. My goal is to displayed the clear element right after the content area floats but instead it gets shoved down below the nav area. The following demo code shows this issue. I know I could reset each variable individually in the constructor; but is there a way to do this in bulk? Or am I doing something totally wrong that requires a different approach?   I wasn’t expect to run an event from 1,000 miles away, but some stuff happened you know like it does and I opted in.  It was really weird, because people asked why are you living in NJ and running Kansas City?  I did move, but it was like my baby and Karthik didn’t have the ability to do it this year.  I found it really challenging, because I could not physically be in Kansas City.  At first I was freaking out and Lee Brandt, Brian Laird, and Chris Geier offered to help.  Somehow I couldn’t come the day of the event.  Time-wise it just didn’t work out.  I could do all the leg work prior to the event, but weekends just were not good.  I was going to be in DC until March or April on the weekdays, so leaving that weekend was too tough.  As it worked out Lee was my eyes and ears for the venue.  Brian was the sponsor and prize box coordinator if anyone needed to send items.  Lee also helped Brian the day of the event move all the boxes.  I did everything we could do electronically, such as get the sponsors coordinate with Michael Lotter on invoicing and getting the speakers, posting the submissions, budgeting the money, setting up a speaker dinner by phone, plus all that other stuff you do behind the scenes.  Chris was there to help Lee and Brian the day of the event and help us out with the speaker dinner.  Karthik finally got back from India and he was there the night before getting the folders together and the signs and stuffing it all.  Jason Gallicchio also helped me out (my cohort for SPS NYC) as he did the schedule and helped with posting the speakers abstracts and so did Chris Geier by posting the bios.  The lot of them enlisted a few other monkeys to help out.  It was the weirdest thing I’ve ever seen, but it worked.  Around 100+ attendees ended up showing and I hear it was  a great event.  Jason, Michael, Chris, Karthik, Brian, and Lee are not all from the same area, but they helped me out in bringing this event together.  It was a national SharePoint Saturday team that brought together a specific local event for Kansas City.  It’s like a metaphor for the entire SharePoint Community.  We help our own kind out we don’t let me fail.  I know Lee and Brian aren’t technically SharePoint People they are honorary SharePoint Community Members.  Thanks everyone for the support and help in bringing this event together.  Technorati Tags: SharePoint Saturday,SPS KC,SharePoint,SharePoint Saturday Kanas City,Kansas City
