• Error showing is NullPointerException [duplicate]

- by user3659612
This question already has an answer here: How to check a string against null in java? 11 answers I was trying to code a wifi scanner which does 20 scans but it shows NullPointerException at if(bssid[j].equals(null)){ My code is slightly huge package com.example.scanner; import java.io.File; import java.io.FileNotFoundException; import java.io.FileOutputStream; import java.io.IOException; import java.io.OutputStreamWriter; import java.text.SimpleDateFormat; import java.util.Date; import java.util.List; import android.annotation.SuppressLint; import android.content.BroadcastReceiver; import android.content.Context; import android.content.Intent; import android.content.IntentFilter; import android.net.wifi.ScanResult; import android.net.wifi.WifiInfo; import android.net.wifi.WifiManager; import android.os.Bundle; import android.os.Environment; import android.support.v7.app.ActionBarActivity; import android.view.Menu; import android.view.View; import android.widget.ArrayAdapter; import android.widget.Button; import android.widget.ListView; import android.widget.Toast; public class MainActivity extends ActionBarActivity { WifiManager wifi; WifiScanReceiver wifireciever; WifiInfo info; Button scan, save; List<ScanResult> wifilist; ListView list; String wifis[]; String name; String[] ssid = new String[100]; String[] bssid = new String[100]; int[] lvl = new int[100]; int[] count = new int[100]; @Override protected void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); setContentView(R.layout.fragment_main); list=(ListView)findViewById(R.id.listView1); scan=(Button)findViewById(R.id.button1); save=(Button)findViewById(R.id.button2); scan.setOnClickListener(new View.OnClickListener() { @Override public void onClick(View v) { // TODO Auto-generated method stub wifi=(WifiManager)getSystemService(Context.WIFI_SERVICE); if (wifi.isWifiEnabled()==false){ wifi.setWifiEnabled(true); } wifireciever = new WifiScanReceiver(); for (int i=0;i<20;i++){ registerReceiver(wifireciever, new IntentFilter(WifiManager.SCAN_RESULTS_AVAILABLE_ACTION)); wifi.startScan(); if (i==19){ Toast.makeText(getBaseContext(), "Scan Finish", Toast.LENGTH_LONG).show(); } } } }); save.setOnClickListener(new View.OnClickListener() { @Override public void onClick(View v) { // TODO Auto-generated method stub savedata(); } }); } protected void savedata() { // TODO Auto-generated method stub try { File sdcard = Environment.getExternalStorageDirectory(); File directory = new File(sdcard.getAbsolutePath() + "/WIFI_RESULT"); directory.mkdirs(); name = new SimpleDateFormat("yyyy-MM-dd HH mm ss").format(new Date()); File file = new File(directory,name + "wifi_data.txt"); FileOutputStream fou = new FileOutputStream(file); OutputStreamWriter osw = new OutputStreamWriter(fou); try { for (int i =0; i < list.getCount(); i++){ osw.append(list.getItemAtPosition(i).toString()); } osw.flush(); osw.close(); Toast.makeText(getBaseContext(), "Saved", Toast.LENGTH_LONG).show(); } catch (IOException e){ e.printStackTrace(); } } catch (FileNotFoundException e){ e.printStackTrace(); } } class WifiScanReceiver extends BroadcastReceiver { @SuppressLint("UseValueOf") public void onReceive(Context c, Intent intent) { int a =0; wifi.startScan(); List<ScanResult> wifilist = wifi.getScanResults(); if (a<wifilist.size()){ a=wifilist.size(); } for(int j=0;j<wifilist.size();j++){ if(bssid[j].equals(null)){ ssid[j] = wifilist.get(j).SSID.toString(); bssid[j] = wifilist.get(j).BSSID.toString(); lvl[j] = wifilist.get(j).level; count[j]++; } else if (bssid[j].equals(wifilist.get(j).BSSID.toString())){ lvl[j] = lvl[j] + wifilist.get(j).level; count[j]++; } } wifis = new String[a]; for (int i =0; i<a; i++){ wifis[i] = ("\n" + ssid[i] + "\n AP Address" + bssid[i] + "\n Signal Strength:" + lvl[i]/count[i]).toString(); } list.setAdapter(new ArrayAdapter<String>(getApplicationContext(), android.R.layout.simple_list_item_1,wifis)); } } protected void onDestroy() { unregisterReceiver(wifireciever); super.onPause(); } protected void onResume() { registerReceiver(wifireciever, new IntentFilter(WifiManager.SCAN_RESULTS_AVAILABLE_ACTION)); super.onResume(); } @Override public boolean onCreateOptionsMenu(Menu menu) { // Inflate the menu; this adds items to the action bar if it is present. getMenuInflater().inflate(R.menu.main, menu); return true; } } NullPointerException at that point mean my array bssid isn't initialize. • How to get parameters out of an ascx back to the main aspx page

- by Hallaghan
I've got an aspx page that renders an ascx page with filtering capabilities. Inside the ascx page, parameters are passed as follows:

Plataforma

<%= Html.Lookup("s.Site", null, Url, "Sites") %>

Data

<%= Html.TextBox("s.Date", DateTime.Today.ToString("yyyy-MM-dd")) %>

I need to be able to get those parameters on the main aspx page, because they are needed for an action that is called there. How could I access these parameters?

• Sorting SQL query results in Java

- by Manu
Firstly my apologies for putting some large text here. Below is the result by executing SQL query in Java but I want it to short it out using timestamp. For eg. TimeStamp in the below 1st line text is - 040501(HH:mm:ss) (like wise all data contains timestamp) (Sorting should be done by using timestamp parameters) (Each line given below is single row from database) 12010051104050131331GZM4 7000000 1 FCFR 120100511040501912828MP2 11590000 0 NOTY 120100511040501312938VF7 366140 .96808795 FGPC 120100511040501912828KA7 6580000 0 NOTY 120100511040501912828JH4 490000 0 NOTY 120100511160528912810PV4 83227500 1.03581 TRIB 120100511160538912795W31 0 1 BILL 120100511160540912828MP2 455784400 0 NOTY 120100511160545912795W31 0 1 BILL 220100511 040501 2101000 220100511 040501 51037707 220100511 040502 700149 220100511 040502 4289000 220100511 060514 71616600 220100511 060514 722453500 the result i would expect is... 12010051104050131331GZM4 7000000 1 FCFR 120100511040501912828MP2 11590000 0 NOTY 120100511040501312938VF7 366140 .96808795 FGPC 120100511040501912828MP2 11590000 0 NOTY 120100511040501912828JH4 490000 0 NOTY 20100511040501 2101000 20100511040501 51037707 20100511040502 4289000 20100511040502 700149 20100511060514 722453500 20100511060514 71616600 20100511160528912810PV4 83227500 1.03581 TRIB 20100511160538912795W31 0 1 BILL 20100511160540912828MP2 455784400 0 NOTY 20100511160545912795W31 0 1 BILL Please help me out guys. i am fighting for this very long time. • Creating a new Guid inside a code snippet using c#

- by Rob
I want to make an intellisense code snippet using Ctl K + Ctl X that actually executes code when it runs... for example, I would like to do the following: string.Format("{MM/dd/yyyy}", System.DateTime.Now); But rather than giving me that string value, I want the date in the format specified. Another example of what I want is to create a new Guid but truncate to the first octet, so I would want to use a create a new Guid using System.Guid.NewGuid(); to give me {798400D6-7CEC-41f9-B6AA-116B926802FE} for example but I want the value: 798400D6 from the code snippet. I'm open to not using an Intellisense Code Snippet.. I just thought that would be easy.

• Create a date from Credit Card expire in MMYY format

- by Sophtware
I need to convert a credit card expire field from MMYY to a date field I can use in a MS SQL query so I can compute when credit cards are expiring in the future. Basically, I need to go from MMYY to MM/DD/YYYY, where the day part could just be '01' (the first of the month). I'm looking for credit cards that are expiring next month from a database. The problem I'm running into is when next month is the first month of the next year. Here's the code I have for determining expired card: (CAST(SUBSTRING(CCExpire,3,2) as int) + 2000 < YEAR(GETDATE())) or ( (CAST(SUBSTRING(CCExpire,3,2) as int) + 2000 = YEAR(GETDATE())) AND (CAST(SUBSTRING(CCExpire,1,2) as int) < MONTH(GETDATE())) ) And here's the code for cards expiring this month: (CAST(SUBSTRING(CCExpire,3,2) as int) + 2000 = YEAR(GETDATE())) AND (CAST(SUBSTRING(CCExpire,1,2) as int) = MONTH(GETDATE())) Now I need code for cards expiring next month...

• How do you convert date taken from a bash script to milliseconds in java program?

- by Matt Pascoe
I am writing a piece of code in java that needs to take a time sent from a bash script and parse the time to milliseconds. When I check the millisecond conversion on the date everything is correct except for the month I have sent which is January instead of March. Here is the variable I create in the bash script, which later in the script I pass to the java program: TIME=`date +%m%d%Y_%H:%M:%S` Here is the java code which parses the time to milliseconds: String dt = "${scriptstart}"; java.text.SimpleDateFormat scriptStart = new java.text.SimpleDateFormat("MMDDyyyy_HH:mm:ss"); long start = scriptStart.parse(dt).getTime(); The goal of this statement is to find the elapsed time between the start of the script and the current system time. To troubleshoot this I printed out the two: System Time = 1269898069496 (converted = Mon Mar 29 2010 16:27:49 GMT-0500 (Central Daylight Time)) Script Start = 03292010_16:27:45 Script Start in Milli = 1264804065000 (Converted = Fri Jan 29 2010 16:27:45 GMT-0600 (Central Standard Time))

• history.go(-1) function not refreshing server side controls

- by Sumit Gupta
hi, I am using a dropdown, a devexpress grid view and a button on my page. My gropdown contains the months in the format MM/YYYY, and on dropdown's selection change the data binds in the grid view. the functionality of button is to go on previous page as same as back button of browser. Now, my prob is that if i select any month and then select another month, the data changes. but now when i click on back button having onclick ="history.go(-1)", changes the data on the grid view but the month in the dropdown remains the same. For example: Suppose, first i have month selected as 02/2010 At this time the data in grid view is for exapmle 01234 now when i select month 03/2010 the data in grid changes to 56789 now when i click on back button, then data in grid changes to 01234 but the month in dropdown remains to 03/2010. Please help me for this.. Thanks in advance for all who will give solution for this.

- by Pankaj Khurana
Hi, I have a moodle installation in which there is a column in mdl_user table called firstaccess whose type is bigint(10) and contains date in following format 1266839570. These two date formats are different. I think firstaccess is unix timestamp. Should i change the '2010-04-12' into unix timestamp or there is a way to convert firstaccess i.e 1266839570 to yyyy-mm-dd format. Please help me on this. Thanks

• Objective-C++ visibility question

- by John Smith
I have linked a library with my program. It works fine. The only problem is that there visibility errors/warnings (thousands of them). They are all of the form: newlib::method() has different visibility (default) in newlib.a and (hidden) in AppDelegate.o It is always with AppDelegate.o. I have tried to set the visibility for both the library and the main app in several ways: the visibility checkmark in XCode, and -fvisibility. Non seem to have worked. Is there somethin special about AppDelegate.mm?

• What jquery code or plugin would I use to update the position of an element created by a plugin

- by Breadtruck
I am using a jquery plugin from [ FilamentGroup ] called DateRangePicker. I have a simple form with two text inputs for the start and end date that I bind the DateRangePicker to using this $('input.tbDate').daterangepicker({ dateFormat: 'mm/dd/yy', earliestDate: new Date(minDate), latestDate: new Date(maxDate), datepickerOptions: { changeMonth: true, changeYear: true, minDate: new Date(minDate), maxDate: new Date(maxDate) } }); I have a collapsible table above this form that when shown, moves the form and the elements that the daterangepicker plugin is bound to, down lower on the page, but the daterangepicker appears to keep the position from when it was actually created. What code could I put in the daterangepicker's onShow Callback to update its position to be next to the element is was initially bound to? Or is there some specific jquery method or plugin that I could chain to the daterangepicker plugin so that it will update its position correctly. This would come in handy for some other plugins that I use that don't seem to keep their position relative to other elements correctly either.

• Can I detect unused extra parameters passed to javascript methods?

- by Pablojim
In Javascript I can call any method with more than the necessary amount of parameters and the extra parameters are silently ignored. e.g. letters = ['a','b','c'] //correct letters.indexOf('a') //This also works without error or warning letters.indexOf('a', "blah", "ignore me", 38) Are there ways to detect cases where this occurs? My motivation is that in my experience cases where this occurs are usually bugs. Identification of these by code analysis or at runtime would help track these errors down. These cases are especially prevalent where people are expecting alterations to base types which may not have occurred. Logging a warning where this happens e.g. Date.parse('02--12--2012', 'dd--MM--YYYY') Notes: To be clear I would like a solution that doesn't involve me sprinkling checks all over my code and other peoples' code.

• Help with dates in Android

- by SamRowley
Hi guys, Looking for a bit of help with taking a dat from a DatePicker Widget and storing it in an sqlite database within the app. I have the following code: java.util.Date utilDate = null; String y = Integer.toString(date.getDayOfMonth()) + "/" + (date.getMonth()+1) + "/" + Integer.toString(date.getYear()); SimpleDateFormat formatter = new SimpleDateFormat("dd/MM/yyy"); utilDate = formatter.parse(y); java.sql.Date z = new java.sql.Date(utilDate.getDate()); x = z.toString(); Log.v("The date: ", x); } Where date is the DatePicker widget. If I output the utilDate variable (i.e. the Java version of date) using logCat it seems to work fine and gives me a format like: Tue Jan 04 00:00:00 GMT 2011 which I am expecting but using the code above to get the sql version of the date, it always gives me the date 1970-01-01. I'm pretty sure the solution is very simple but I just can't see it.

• How to handle date difference between client and server?

- by daydreamer
I have an API which looks like /summary/yyyy/mm Which returns the summary of their data for the year and month requested. One of the things it returns the number of days left if this is current year and month. For example: days_left: 9 for 2013 and 10 and current date on server is 21 Oct 2013 How I calculate remaining days? This is implemented in python as def current_financial_month_details(self): time_from, time_to = self \ .get_start_end_time_current_financial_month() today = datetime.today() from_time = datetime(year=today.year, month=today.month, day=today.day) return { 'time_from': time_from, 'time_to': time_to, 'remaining_days': (time_to - from_time).days } The problem? The server is in east coast and the client(me with browser) is on pacific time zone When its 9PM PST the time changes in east coast, so if I run hit /summary/2013/10 and if it is Oct 21 2013 for me on PST, the date has already changed on EST, so days_left: 8 which is incorrect on client end. right? How do I handle this situation?

• Makefile automatic link dependency ?

- by Kuang Chen
It's easy to let program figure out the dependency at compile time, (with gcc -MM). Nevertheless, link dependency (deciding which libraries should be linked to) seems to be difficult to figure out. This issue become emergent when multiple targets with individual libraries to link to are needed. For instance, three dynamic library targets t1.so, t2.so and t3.so needs to be built. t1.so needs math library (-lm), while t2 and t3 don't. It would be tedious to write separate rules. A single rule requiring the three targets linked with math library saves the trouble. However, it causes inflation of target size since math library is unused for t2.so and t3.so. Any ideas?
