  • A C# class with a null namespace

    - by Richard Ev
    While going through some legacy code today I discovered that you can declare a C# class without placing it in a namespace (in this scenario I have an ASP.NET WebForms application and some of the web forms are not declared within any namespace). A GetType() on such a class returns a type where the namespace property is set to null. I did not know that this was allowed - can anyone suggest why it would be desirable to have a class that is not declared within a namespace?

  • Jquery .text() call returns null?

    - by Alex
    Hey all, I'm practicing Jquery and I've written this simple Jquery statement: var someText = $("table tr td").text(); Should this not return all text of td elements found within tr's that are found within tables? How do I fix this? Currently when I run this, it says that table tr td is null, but I have a table on the page I'm testing on. Thanks!

  • Null pointer exception on .iterator() call

    - by Peter
    I'm getting a strange NullPointerException, evidently thrown by the following line of code: Iterator<Note> it = notes.iterator(); I've checked, and at the time the java.util.TreeSet notes is always non-null (with 15 elements). The TreeSet API says nothing about iterator() throwing NullPointerExceptions. What else could be going here?

  • Large memory chunk not garbage collected

    - by Niels
    In a hunt for a memory-leak in my app I chased down a behaviour I can't understand. I allocate a large memory block, but it doesn't get garbage-collected resulting in a OOM, unless I explicit null the reference in onDestroy. In this example I have two almost identical activities that switch between each others. Both have a single button. On pressing the button MainActivity starts OOMActivity and OOMActivity returns by calling finish(). After pressing the buttons a few times, Android throws a OOMException. If i add the the onDestroy to OOMActivity and explicit null the reference to the memory chunk, I can see in the log that the memory is correctly freed. Why doesn't the memory get freed automatically without the nulling? MainActivity: package com.example.oom; import android.app.Activity; import android.content.Intent; import android.os.Bundle; import android.view.View; import android.view.View.OnClickListener; import android.widget.Button; public class MainActivity extends Activity implements OnClickListener { private int buttonId; @Override protected void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); System.gc(); Button OOMButton = new Button(this); OOMButton.setText("OOM"); buttonId = OOMButton.getId(); setContentView(OOMButton); OOMButton.setOnClickListener(this); } @Override public void onClick(View v) { if (v.getId() == buttonId) { Intent leakIntent = new Intent(this, OOMActivity.class); startActivity(leakIntent); } } } OOMActivity: public class OOMActivity extends Activity implements OnClickListener { private static final int WASTE_SIZE = 20000000; private byte[] waste; private int buttonId; protected void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); Button BackButton = new Button(this); BackButton.setText("Back"); buttonId = BackButton.getId(); setContentView(BackButton); BackButton.setOnClickListener(this); waste = new byte[WASTE_SIZE]; } public void onClick(View view) { if (view.getId() == buttonId) { finish(); } } }

  • setting value to a parameter - always saying that it is null REALLY NEED INPUT

    - by Amina
    So I have this schedule visit page with two groups. Group 1 contains a list of: Cases. Group 2 contains a list of: Parties. each group has a checkboxes next to its item for the user to select. My Issue when i select a case and/or a party and save -- then go to the edit page of the visit i just saved and only my selected case is checked and the party i selected is not checked. After debugging i realized that the partyId is not being saved properly during the create page and thus not showing as selected or saved on the edit page. I really need help on how to properly save the party selected and setting for it a value from the parameter. Here is my code of what i have for saving a case and would like to know how to properly save with party. Controller [HttpPost] [ValidateInput(false)] public ActionResult Create(VisitViewModel viewModel, Guid[] associatedCasesSelected, Guid[] selectedParties) { if (!ModelState.IsValid) { viewModel.Time = _timeEntryHelper.Value; AddLookupsToViewModel(viewModel); return View(viewModel); } var visitEntry = Mapper.Map<VisitViewModel, VisitEntry>(viewModel); ... viewModel.CasePartyIds = selectedParties; try { _visitEntryService.Create(visitEntry, associatedCasesSelected); this.FlashInfo(string.Format(Message.ConfirmationMessageCreate, Resources.Entities.Visit.EntityName)); } catch (RulesException ex) { ex.CopyTo(ModelState); } if (ModelState.IsValid) return RedirectToAction("Edit", "Case", new { caseId = viewModel.CaseId }); AddLookupsToViewModel(viewModel); return View(viewModel); } VisitEntryService public void Create(VisitEntry visitEntry,IList<Guid>caseIds) { EnsureValid(visitEntry); _visitEntryRepository.Save(visitEntry); caseIds = AddCurrentCaseToCases(visitEntry.CaseId, caseIds); foreach (var caseId in caseIds.Distinct()) { var visit = new Visit {CaseId = caseId, VisitEntryId = visitEntry.VisitEntryId}; _visitService.Create(visit); } } AddCurrentCaseToCases private static IList<Guid>AddCurrentCaseToCases(Guid caseId, IEnumerable<Guid>caseIds) { var cases = new List<Guid>(); if (caseIds != null) { cases.AddRange(caseIds); if(!caseIds.Contains(caseId)) cases.Add(caseId); } else cases.Add(caseId); return cases; } VisitService public Visit Get(Guid visitId) { return DataContext.Visits.SingleOrDefault(v => v.VisitId == visitId); } public void Save(Visit visit) { if(visit.VisitId == Guid.Empty) { visit.VisitId = Guid.NewGuid(); DataContext.Visits.InsertOnSubmit(visit); } else { var currentVisit = Get(visit.VisitId); if (currentVisit == null) throw RepositoryExceptionFactory.Create("Visit", "VisitId"); } DataContext.SubmitChanges(); } Any TIPS or IDEAS is greatly appreciated at this time :) The entitiy for the parties will be VisitEntryParty

  • Returning Null values with COUNT

    - by Randy B.
    With this query, I get a result that is two short of the table because they are not included in count, and I would like get the NULL values in the result. To do this, I am pretty sure I need to use a subquery of some kind, but I am not sure how, since the attribute in question is an aggregate. SELECT Equipment.SerialNo , Name, COUNT(Assignment.SerialNo) FROM Equipment INNER JOIN Assignment ON Assignment.SerialNo = Equipment.SerialNo GROUP BY Equipment.SerialNo, Name

  • Java 1.7ea: Files.probeContentType(path) returns null

    - by Cybertizzen
    Hi, I'm having a bit of a strange problem with an application using the Files.probeContentType(path)-method to test for file type: On both my Ubuntu and Fedora systems, it works fine, but when moved to a RedHat Enterprise server (2.6.18-194.el5 #1 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux), it only returns null. I'm using java 7 early access (1.7.0-ea-b84). I have to use this version due to functionality that isn't included in 1.6. Does anyone have an idea of what might be the problem here?

    I am getting options[text] is null or not an object error. What i am trying to do here is i am checking what all multi select lookup column values are selected , comparing them with the value in an array and then removing them var responsibleselected = returntags("select","Responsibility selected values"); for(var i=0;i<responsibleselected.options.length;i++) { if(responsibleselected.options[i].selected == true) { for(var j=0;j< ResponsibleArray.length;j++) { if(responsibleselected.options[i].text == ResponsibleArray[j])//throws error here { GipRemoveSelectedItems(ctl00_m_g_6ad915a8_68ea_4c76_b67a_ad1215320288_ff391_ctl00_ctl00_MultiLookupPicker_m); } } } }

  • App using MonoTouch Core Graphics mysteriously crashes

    - by Stephen Ashley
    My app launches with a view controller and a simple view consisting of a button and a subview. When the user touches the button, the subview is populated with scrollviews that display the column headers, row headers, and cells of a spreadsheet. To draw the cells, I use CGBitmapContext to draw the cells, generate an image, and then put the image into the imageview contained in the scrollview that displays the cells. When I run the app on the iPad, it displays the cells just fine, and the scrollview lets the user scroll around in the spreadsheet without any problems. If the user touches the button a second time, the spreadsheet redraws and continues to work perfectly, If, however, the user touches the button a third time, the app crashes. There is no exception information display in the Application Output window. My first thought was that the successive button pushes were using up all the available memory, so I overrode the DidReceiveMemoryWarning method in the view controller and used a breakpoint to confirm that this method was not getting called. My next thought was that the CGBitmapContext was not getting released and looked for a Monotouch equivalent of Objective C's CGContextRelease() function. The closest I could find was the CGBitmapContext instance method Dispose(), which I called, without solving the problem. In order to free up as much memory as possible (in case I was somehow running out of memory without tripping a warning), I tried forcing garbage collection each time I finished using a CGBitmapContext. This made the problem worse. Now the program would crash moments after displaying the spreadsheet the first time. This caused me to wonder whether the Garbage Collector was somehow collecting something necessary to the continued display of graphics on the screen. I would be grateful for any suggestions on further avenues to investigate for the cause of these crashes. I have included the source code for the SpreadsheetView class. The relevant method is DrawSpreadsheet(), which is called when the button is touched. Thank you for your assistance on this matter.
