• Semantic urls with dots in .net

  I'm trying to make semantic urls for search pages, but if someone use a search finished in dot, the .net engine return a 404. The request don't even get to the routing engine, so i think its something related to security or something like that. For example, the stackoverflow routes also don't work in these case: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/tagged/etc.

  In short, why use something like http://stackoverflow.com/badges/6/supporter instead of something "simpler" (and subjectively, at that) like http://stackoverflow.com/badges/6/. Even on my own site I've just been using /post/6/ to reference posts (by IDs, even though I still store a slug.) Instead of /post/6/small-rant-on-urls, and in some cases, they can get even more absurd, much more so than is really necessary.

Scripts and .conkyrc files specifically geared towards developers would be especially good to see. Some good examples of developer-centric functions would be repository-monitors or heck, even something that monitors StackOverflow. Screenshots of what the functionality actually looks like would be appreciated as well.

  From within Java, I am opening an Excel file with the default file handler (MS Excel, in this case :-) ) using the method described in this stackoverflow question: Desktop dt = Desktop.getDesktop(); dt.open(new File(filename)); However, the Excel program doesn't get the focus. Is there any easy way to do so? Edit: There is a related stackoverflow question for C#, but I didn't find any similar Java method.

Microsoft OneNote allows text or an image from a website to be inserted by Drag&Drop with an attached link to the source that looks like this for the stackoverflow logo on the 'ask' page: Inserted from <http://stackoverflow.com/questions/ask. With the QT dropsite example, I examined all the information thats transported by the QMimeData object, but didn't find something really helpful. • Can I suppress or enforce URLs to be prefaced with http:// in ALL browsers?

  I want to ensure that regardless of what browser a user is in, they all see the EXACT same characters in the URL bar. Most browsers show the preceding protocol type in the URL bar. However, Chrome for example truncates http:// (not sure about https) and starts with the domain name, ie: Chrome: stackoverflow.com/questions/ask Safari: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/ask So, is there a way to either suppress the http:// in all browsers, or even enforce it in all browsers? Preferably suppress.

My question is, is this preferred versus inline styles? Stackoverflow actually uses quite a bit of inline styles. I have uninstalled re-installed the driver 4 times, I have updated it every time, and my tablet/pen IS NEW. THEY ARE NOT/DO NOT HAVE BUTTONS THAT ARE BROKEN.
