  • How can my-program.hs get its version number from my-program.cabal at build time?

    I would like my cabalised program to have a --version switch. I would like it to report the same version as is present in the .cabal file. If I have to update the version number separately in my Haskell source code as well as in the .cabal file, I will eventually get them out of sync. So, how can my program, while being compiled under cabal, get its version number from the .cabal file?

    Hello, I've compiled haskell program which uses wxHaskell library, now I would like to know how to make it run on other machines which doesn't have wxHaskell installed. Of course I can see errors and I can copy dlls written in output and copy them to that machine but what is professioal sollution, can I write any installer or something like that? thanks for help

  • Emacs align-regexp on = but not ==

    I am working in Haskell and frequently come across code similar to the following: func i j | i == j = i | otherwise = j I want to align on the '=' character using align-regexp but don't have the elisp knowhow. I have tried just doing " = " without the quotes, but this inserts an unwanted space character before each '='. I have found a proposed solution here but I can't seem to get that to do anything at all. Please help me write a function or hard-coded macro that will allow me to set a keybinding for this.

    I ported a little Haskell program I wrote from Mac to Windows. It's a GUI application (wxHaskell, compiled with ghc 6.12.1), so it does not need the command prompt window to open. It does so, anyway, so my question: What must I do so that the program starts without opening a prompt window first? Is there some ghc switch for this?

  • Outputing UTF-8 string on Mac OS's Terminal

    I got a programm in haskell outputting utf-8 using the package utf8-string and using only the output functions of this package. I set the encoding of each file I write to this way : hSetEncoding myFile utf8 {- myFile may be stdout -} but when I try to output : alpha = [fromEnum 0x03B1] {- a -} instead of the nice alpha letter I got on Linux (or in a file on windows), I got the following : α The weird thing is even if I try to write the output on a file, I can't read it back with mvim as an utf-8 file. Is there any way to get the correct behaviour

  • How to install new modes in emacs 23 on OS X?

    I just downloaded the Haskell and J modes off of SourceForge, and I'm having trouble figuring out how to make them interface with emacs 23. Google searches yield detailed instructions for emacs 22, but it looks like changes have been made that make it hard to figure out where I'm supposed to stick the binaries. The internal documentation seems to assume more experience with emacs internals than I currently have, and the problem has resisted solution for several days. Does anyone know how to get these modes up and running?

    While learning Haskell I am wondering when an IO action will be performed. In several places I found descriptions like this: "What’s special about I/O actions is that if they fall into the main function, they are performed." But in the following example, 'greet' never returns and therefore nothing should be printed. import Control.Monad main = greet greet = forever $ putStrLn "Hello World!" Or maybe I should ask: what does it mean to "fall into the main function"?

    Hi all I've followed this tutorial to try to add a template to Visual Studio: http://www.switchonthecode.com/tutorials/visual-studio-how-to-create-item-templates The template I have created is designed to add one predefined .aspx and one predefined .aspx.cs file to the project. The folder contains the following files: MoosePage.aspx MoosePage.aspx.cs MoosePage.vstemplate MoosePageItemTemplateIcon.ico The .vstemplate file looks like this: <VSTemplate Type="Item" Version="2.0.0" xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/developer/vstemplate/2005"> <TemplateData> <Name>MoosePage</Name> <Description>MoosePage Template</Description> <DefaultName>NewMoosePage</DefaultName> <ProjectType>CSharp</ProjectType> <Icon>MoosePageItemTemplateIcon.ico</Icon> </TemplateData> <TemplateContent> <ProjectItem TargetFileName="$fileinputname$.aspx" ReplaceParameters="true"> MoosePage.aspx </ProjectItem> <ProjectItem TargetFileName="$fileinputname$.aspx.cs" ReplaceParameters="true"> MoosePage.aspx.cs </ProjectItem> </TemplateContent> </VSTemplate> I have zipped the files up (.zip not .zipx) and placed the zip folder in My Documents\Visual Studio 2008\Templates\ItemTemplates\VisualWebDeveloper.   • Using Word COM objects in .NET, InlineShapes not copied from template to document

    Using .NET and the Word Interop I am programmatically creating a new Word doc from a template (.dot) file. There are a few ways to do this but I've chosen to use the AttachedTemplate property, as such: Dim oWord As New Word.Application() oWord.Visible = False Dim oDocuments As Word.Documents = oWord.Documents Dim oDoc As Word.Document = oDocuments.Add() oDoc.AttachedTemplate = sTemplatePath oDoc.UpdateStyles() (I'm choosing the AttachedTemplate means of doing this over the Documents.Add() method because of a memory leak issue I discovered when using Documents.Add() to open from templates.) This works fine EXCEPT when there is an image (represented as an InlineShape) in the template footer. In that case the image does not appear in the resulting document. Specifically the image should appear in the oDoc.Sections.Item(1).Footers.Item(WdHeaderFooterIndex.wdHeaderFooterPrimary).Range.InlineShapes collection but it does not. This is not a problem when using Documents.Add(), however as I said that method is not an option for me. Is there an extra step I have to take to get the images from the template? I already discovered that when using AttachedTemplate I have to explicitly call UpdateStyles() (as you can see in my code snippet) to apply the template styles to the document, whereas that is done automatically when using Documents.Add(). Or maybe there's some crazy workaround? Your help is much appreciated! :)
