  • Ideas Needed for a Base Code System

    I've developed a PHP web application that is currently in need of a strategic restructuring. Currently when we setup new clients we give them the entire code base on a subdomain of our main domain and create a new table for them in the database. This results in each client having the entire codebase, meaning when we make bug changes, fixes we have to go back and apply them independently across all clients and this is a pain. What I'd like to create is a base code server that holds all the core PHP files. base.domain.com Then all of our clients (client.domain.com) will only need a few files: config.php would have the database connection information. index.php - displays the login box if session non-existant, otherwise it loads baseline code via remote includes to base.domain.com. My question is does my logic seem feasible? How do other people handle similar situations by having a base code? Also.... Is it even possbile to remotely include PHP files from base.domain.com and include them in client.domain.com? Thanks, Tegan

    I am trying to run JUnit test with a 1.5 JRE, but get the error Message: java.lang.UnsupportedClassVersionError: Bad version number in .class file When I switch to JRE 1.6 (actually a JDK but that shouldn't matter, right?) everythings works fine. So the questions are: Do we really need Java 6 for the current JUnit version? what is the newest JUnit version, that works with Java 5?

  • Can you help diagnose why this laptop running ubantu has crashed and seemingly died

    Love any suggestions you have to this problem. My laptop had Window Vista on previously (sorry). Something went wrong, I can't remember, and I tried to reinstall but couldn't, installed a replacement second hand HD, and installed Ubantu instead. It worked ok for a little while, before crashing. I ended up reloading Ubantu three times. It works for a while after (say 3-5 hrs of domestic web browsing), and then crashes. When I turn it on now, it comes up with some options to restart in safe mode, run tests and so on. I can't get it to start normally. I'm not going to re-install again. Below are screen shots of what happens when I follow some of these test options. These screen shots mean nothing to me. Any ideas?     I have this function for adding options to a Select list: function addOption(selectbox, value, text, cl ) { var optn = document.createElement("OPTION"); optn.text = text; optn.value = value; if (cl==1){ optn.className = "nav_option_main"; } selectbox.options.add(optn); } I have just discovered the "optgroup" tag, but I don't know how to implement it to the drop list. The function above is called on another selectboxes "OnChange" event, to fill sub-select-box with the desired options. I don't think it should be too difficult to add the "optgroup" tag into this, or is it? Thanks and if you need more input let me know...

    I know Python but I've never used Django. What do I need to know about Django 1.2 to port my typical PHP CRUD web application in one weekend? (Yes I've read Joel Spolsky's Netscape article :-)) I'm reading this tutorial right now and it's excellent. I'm already playing around with inspectdb to generate my models from the existing schema. I'm planning to use the following features of Django this weekend: Fragment caching Static asset versioning (for far future expires) Schema migrations (or whatever they're called in Django) Auto-admin (and customize it later) The test framework ...other stuff I probably don't know about yet I'm familiar with all these concepts in other languages/frameworks, except for the ORM which I've never used. I know SQL pretty well though. Any links, sage bits of advice, gotchas, stuff not mentioned in the (excellent) tutorial/docs, or stuff that is mentioned but warrants repeating == very welcome.   • Something like a manual refresh is needed angularjs, and a $digest() iterations error

    (post edited again, new comments follow this line) I'm changing the title of this posting since it was misleading - I was trying to fix a symptom. I was unable to figure out why the code was breaking with a $digest() iterations error. A plunk of my code worked fine. I was totally stuck, so I decided to make my code a little more Angular-like. One anti-pattern I had implemented was to hide my model behind my controller by adding getters/setters to the controller. I tore all that out and instead put the model into the $scope since I had read that was proper Angular. To my surprise, the $digest() iterations error went away. I do not exactly know why and I do not have the intestinal fortitude to put the old code back and figure it out. I surmise that by involving the controller in the get/put of the data I added a dependency under the hood. I do not understand it. edit #2 ends here. (post edited, see EDIT below) I was working through my first Error: 10 $digest() iterations reached. Aborting! error today. I solved it this way: <div ng-init="lineItems = ctrl.getLineItems()"> <tr ng-repeat="r in lineItems"> <td>{{r.text}}</td> <td>...</td> <td>{{r.price | currency}}</td> </tr </div> Now a new issue has arisen - the line items I'm producing can be modified by another control on the page. It's a text box for a promo code. The promo code adds a discount to the lineItem array. It would show up if I could ng-repeat over ctrl.getLineItems(). Since the ng-repeat is looking at a static variable, not the actual model, it doesn't see that the real line items have changed and thus the promotional discount doesn't get displayed until I refresh the browser. Here's the HTML for the promo code: <input type="text" name="promo" ng-model="ctrl.promoCode"/> <button ng-click="ctrl.applyPromoCode()">apply promo code</button> The input tag is writing the value to the model. The bg-click in the button is invoking a function that will apply the code. This could change the data behind the lineItems. I have been advised to use $scope.apply(...). However, since this is applied as a matter of course by ng-click is isn't going to do anything. Indeed, if I add it to ctrl.applyPromoCode(), I get an error since an .apply() is already in progress. I'm at a loss. EDIT The issue above is probably the result of me fixing of symptom, not a problem.     M2Crypto.X509.X509 objects have a verify(pkey) method, which provide a means of testing that a given certificate does in fact sign a specified key. This is a good and useful thing -- except that sometimes the certificate I want to verify in this way is invalid without the use of an intermediate certificate, which this API does not appear to allow a way to specify. Is there an alternate means of validating a certificate / private key pair which will work even when the certificate is unable to stand alone?

  • Why does Android allocate more memory than needed when loading images

    Folks, I don't think that this is a duplicate and is NOT one of those how do I avoid OOMs questions. This is a genuine quest for knowledge so hold off on those down votes please... Imagine I have a JPEG of 500x500 pixels. I load it as ARGB_8888 which is as "bad as it gets". I would expect Android to allocate 500x500x4 bytes = a little under 1MB however, look at a heap dump and you will see that Android allocates significantly more, often factors of 5-10 times greater. You frequently see questions on here about OOMS where the stack trace shows a heap request of say 15MB and it is ALWAYS much larger than is required simply to hold the bytes of the image. The OP usually catches some downvotes then is bombarded with stock answers and comments about using less memory (thanks Romain!) and in scaling. I think there is more than meets the eye here. Anybody know why this is? If there is no apparent answer, I will put together an SSCCE if it helps. PS. I assume that JPEG vs PNG etc is irrelevant since we're talking about the memory usage of the backing bitmap which is simply x times y times BPP - or am I being slow?

    I was just playing with adventureworks database in sqlserver. I got stuck in a query. I wanted to Select all titles from HumanResources.Employee which are either 'Male' or 'Female' but not both. i.e if title Accountant is Male and Female both I want to leave that title. I need only those titles where Gender is either Male or Female. I have done this till yet. select distinct(title) from humanresources.employee where gender='M' select distinct(title) from humanresources.employee where gender='F' Probably a join between these two queries, would work. But If you have any other solution, please let me know. It is not a homework. :) Thanks in advance.

  • Ubuntu 12.10 update doesnt boot. (please help)

    my name is Anthony. I updated to 12.10 and it the OS will not load accept in "pae" under advanced options. I used the boot repair cd, the only thing that workds is the monodeset option in the kernel and the graphics are terrible, mouse disappears and unity will not boot. Ubuntu 12.04 Runs great, on a clean install of 12.10 Ubuntu 12.10 wont even load to install unless under monodeset. I get left a termial like screen with just a bilking bar. Im running a HP Compaq NC6400 Laptop, Ubuntu 32-bit, 2gb ram.

    I have a server that has 4 hds inside all in stadalone configurations (no hardware raid). I want using preseed to create a "regular" partition on disk1 on which i ll install ubuntu and create a raid 0 array with the remainning three disks. Is this possible? Can i use partman-auto/method twice inside the preseed file once for regular and once for raid? I need to use this for unattended provisioning so i need to set my disks inside the preseed file.     I understand my question may be in the gray area, but I'm not able to use the Meta to ask if this question is appropriate or not so I'll simply have to risk it. My project is complete in the sense that it's a fully functional, ready to go 1.0 version. However, that's not good enough for my standards. My expertise is in HTML/CSS, not jQuery and PHP. I'm looking for someone to refine every character of my code for quality, speed, security and compatibility. I want everything to be as bug free as possible for launch. So I need an expert programmer who's a perfectionist in their coding who cares about the quality of their work (not just making it work) to review and refine my code. I'm sure I can't outright post the project's details and hope for interested parties to contact me as that wouldn't be beneficial to the community so instead I'm looking for advice from programmers about where some of best places to hire quality programmers are and the best strategies to hire the right programmer. In other words, screening applicants off of craigslist isn't going to cut it for this project. Thanks

  • Some help understanding and modifying a 2D shader

    I have a similar question as the one posed here, except that I don't wish to use a 1D Color Palette. I simply wish to have it display 1 color of my choosing (red, for example). I plan to use this as a "shield" effect for a 2D ship. I also wish to understand how it works a little bit better, as I'll be the first to admit that shaders in general are not my strongest suit. I'm not asking for an overview of HLSL (as that is too broad of a subject), just an explanation of how this shader works, and the best way to implement it in a 2D game. Code examples would be ideal (even if they are theoretical) but if the answer is explained well enough, I might be able to manage with plain old text. This is also in XNA 4.0. Thanks in advance.

    Hey guys, first off all sorry, i can't login using my yahoo provider. anyways I have this problem. Let me explain it to you, and then I'll show you a picture. I have a access db table. It has 'report id', 'recpient id', and 'recipient name' and 'report req'. What the table "means" is that do the user using that report still require it or can we decommission it. Here is how the data looks like (blocked out company userids and usernames): *check the link below, I cant post pictures cuz yahoo open id provider isnt working. So basically I need to have 3 select queries: 1) Select all the reports where for each report, ALL the users have said no to 'reportreq'. In plain English, i want a listing of all the reports that we have to decommission because no user wants it. 2) Select all the reports where the report is required, and the batchprintcopy is more then 0. This way we can see which report needs to be printed and save paper instead of printing all the reports. 3)A listing of all the reports where the reportreq field is empty. I think i can figure this one out myself. This is using Access/VBA and the data will be exported to an excel spreadsheet. I just a simple query if it exists, OR an alogorithm to do it quickly.
