  Hi all, I'm attempting to build a project called DropThings but I am getting all these errors and I'm not sure how to resolve them. Can anyone lend a helping hand? • ASP.NET Membership ChangePassword control - Need to check for previous password

  Hi guys, I have a new table that hold old passwords, I need to check if there is a match. If there is a match I need the ChangePassword contol to NOT change the password. I need to tell the user that this password was used and pic a new one. I can't seem to be able to interrupt the control from changing the password. Maybe I am using the wrong event. Here is a piece of my code, or how I wish it would work. I've tried to hadle the SortColumn event and it works, however, whenever I click the column header, the columns are sorted via JavaScript in the website before the event is fired in the server side? When I navigate to the directory c:\temp\ and double-click on the test.zip file; it opens right up. My problem seems only to be with the download. The code above executes without any issue. A file download dialog is presented. I can chose to either save or open. If I try to open the file from the dialog, or save it and then open it. I get the following dialog message: The Compressed (zipped) Folder is invalid or corrupted. For Response.ContentType I've tried: application/x-compressed application/x-zip-compressed application/x-gzip-compresse application/octet-stream application/zip The zip file is being created with some prior code (that I'm sure is working fine due to my ability to open the created file directly) using: Ionic.zip http://www.codeplex.com/DotNetZip

• Slow Performance -- ASP .NET ASPNET_WP.EXE and CSC.EXE Running After Clicking Redirect Link

  I click on a link from one page that does a redirect to another page (Response.Redirect(page.aspx)). The browser churns for about 30 seconds and the page displays. I'm trying to track down why it takes so long to load the page. The page hosts two other custom controls. I have commented out the lines of code for each and both controls, and the page still takes about 30 seconds to load. I've set breakpoints on the Page_Load event for each of the controls as well as page.aspx and it also takes about 30 seconds from clicking the link with the Response.Redirect to the first break point. I loaded up task manager and clicked on the link. I notice aspnet_wp.exe and csc.exe run during this 30 second time frame. I'm wondering if there are some sort of code-behind shinanigans going on while I'm waiting for the page to load. This only occurs the first time I click on the link. Afterwards, it's not as slow. I've googled but there's not a lot of useful information about this. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks, ---Dan---

  I have a database and a site having forms authentication. It is working fine with VS2008. This time, I am using "Trusted_connection =True". But when it is opened from outside or directly from browser then I am getting error "Login failed for user 'NT AUTHORITY\ANONYMOUS LOGON'." I know this is due to permission. SQL server is based on windows authentication. What is the best approach to manage user to connect SQL Server? Should I enable SQL Server authentication? Let me know what to do so that it makes the production feel and there wouldn't be any problem during deployment. Note: SQL Server is installed on domain server.

  So sometimes (oftentimes!) you want to target a specific .NET version (say 3.0), but then due to some .NET service packs you get into problems like: Dispatcher.BeginInvoke(Delegate, Object[]) <-- this was added in 3.0 SP2 (3.0.30618 ) System.Threading.WaitHandle.WaitOne(Int32) <-- this was added in 3.5 SP1, 3.0 SP2, 2.0 SP2 Now, these are detected by the JIT compiler, so building against .NET 3.0 in Visual Studio won't guarante it will run on .NET 3.0 only systems. Short of confirming each and every function you use, or limiting your development environment to .NET 3.0 (which sucks since you have to develop for other projects too) what's the best way to avoid against using extensions?   I'm signed up, I've downloaded sample code, I've got a WSDL...and yet I have no idea how to get this stuff into my existing .Net application. The WSDL was in a zip file, not a URL so I can't just "Add Web Reference." I've run the wsdl tool from the .Net command prompt, and it made a nice class for me...yet dropping that into my web_reference folder doesn't give me any kind of instantiatable class. I know I'm missing something stupid. Can someone point me in the right direction please?

  Originally the site was set up using a Website project which ended up not working for various reasons. I'm trying to make it work as a web application project and have started from the ground up with a new project. I have looked online and not found a good resource that explains some of the "simple" things that are taken for granted when it's a website project. Some things specifically: How am I specifying the external sql database that the membership site should use? Is it possible to set privileges on a folder and require authentication when accessing that content or does each page need to check for itself? Once again, I'm looking for some resources I can use as I move forward as opposed to answers to specific questions (although those are welcome as well).

First I validate the records one at a time. I then want to insert them into the database but instead of doing submitChanges() after each record I want to do a mass submit at the end. So I have something like this public class Repository { private LinqtoSqlContext dbcontext = new LinqtoSqlContext(); public void Update() { // find record // update record } public void Insert() { // make a database table object ( ie ProductTable t = new ProductTable() { productname ="something"} // insert record ( dbcontext.ProductTable.insertOnSubmit()) } public void SaveToDb() { dbcontext.submitChanges(); } } Then in my service layer I would do like for(int i = 0; i < 100; i++) { validate(); if(valid == true) { update(); insert() } } SaveToDb(); So pretend my for loop is has a count for all the record found in the xml file. I first validate it. If valid then I have to update a table before I insert the record. I then insert the record. After that I want to save everything in one go. I am not sure if I can do a mass save when updating of if that has to be after every time or what. But I thought it would work for sure for the insert one. Nothing seems to crash and I am not sure how to check if the records are being added to the dbcontext.

  I am working on a project where we are about to go to internal release. So we are working to clean up the small problems before then. I was looking at our logs and noticed a high number of 404 errors. On further inspection it seems that all of them are related to HEAD requests. I haven't been able to find any substantive information about the preferred method for handling this in a standards compliant manner.   Is there a quick and easy way to update my LINQ dbml files? Right now, if I update a Stored Procedure, I need to open the dbml designer file, delete the old SP, save, drag and drop the new SP, and save again. I haven't researched this a whole bunch, but I'm wondering if there's an easy way for Visual Studio to just go into the DB and update the dbml to the latest SP's by just clicking an update button or something along those lines.

  Hii, I need to develop an online quiz website that would be having MCQs. I would want to have one question appearing per page with a Numeric Pager so that the user can go back and forth. I tried using the FormView for displaying the questions and RadioButtons. I created a class QANS that would hold the answer selected by the user for the questions that he did answer so that I can later sum up the total Score. Now, the problem I'm facing is as below: Let the user select a RadioButton, say R, on a PageIndex, say I, and then go to some other page, say K. When the user returns back to page I, none of the RadioButtons is selected. I tried adding code for setting the Checked property of the RadioButton true in the Page_Load(), but it didn't help. I also tried the same with the PageIndexChanged and PageIndexChanging event, but the RadioButton doesn't get checked. The RadioButton that was selected for a particular question has been stored and I am able to print which one it was using Response.Write() but I'm not able to keep the RadioButton Checked. How shall this be done?
