  • Content Container Overlaps Menu?

    I'm currently working on a Joomla template using CSS divs. I have a header set up with our logo image in a div floated to the left, an adspace floated to the right, and the menu bar on the bottom. My content is divided into three div columns that are contained in "container.": the left column is floated left, the center is not floated, and the right is floated to the right.   • trouble running smooth animation in thread only when using key listener

    first time using a forum for coding help so sorry if i post this all wrong. i have more than a few classes i don't think screenManger or core holds the problem but i included them just incase. i got most of this code working through a set of tutorials. but a certain point started trying to do more on my own. i want to play the animation only when i'm moving my sprite. in my KeyTest class i am using threads to run the animation it used to work (poorly) but now not at all pluss it really gunks up my computer. i think it's because of the thread. im new to threads so i'm not to sure if i should even be using one in this situation or if its dangerous for my computer. the animation worked smoothly when i had the sprite bouce around the screen forever. the animation loop played with out stopping. i think the main problem is between the animationThread, Sprite, and keyTest classes, but itcould be more indepth. if someone could point me in the right direction for making the animation run smoothly when i push down a key and stop runing when i let off it would be greatly apriciated. i already looked at this Java a moving animation (sprite) obviously we were doing the same tutorial. but i feel my problem is slightly different. p.s. sorry for the typos. import java.awt.*; So far i have managed to read in all the customers which there are 20 of them. However when reading in the accounts and transactions stuff it only reads in 20 but there is alot more in the text file.   • WPF ToggleButton changing image depending on state

    I would like to use ToggleButton in following way: There are 5 different images and each of them should be displayed depending on current state: button disabled button enabled, unchecked button enabled, unchecked, pointed by mouse cursor button enabled, checked button enabled, checked, pointed by mouse cursor I've found a simple example with two images on http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/wpf/thread/28c36bd2-2ef7-4232-9976-2a0967140e32 , but how to change the image depending on "checked" property? The second question: how can I avoid creating different styles for each button in my application? I'm using about 20 different buttons and each of them has different set of icons. So far I'm using only one icon, below my code.   • Setting int more than once causes crash

    I'm doing a CABasicAnimation and getting the value from a nested NSMutableArray. Everything is great the first time it runs but crashes when called again either with custom functions or viewDidLoad.   • Invalid or expired security context token in WCF web service

    All, I have a WCF web service (let's called service "B") hosted under IIS using a service account (VM, Windows 2003 SP2). The service exposes an endpoint that use WSHttpBinding with the default values except for maxReceivedMessageSize, maxBufferPoolSize, maxBufferSize and some of the time outs that have been increased. The web service has been load tested using Visual Studio Load Test framework with around 800 concurrent users and successfully passed all tests with no exceptions being thrown. The proxy in the unit test has been created from configuration. There is a sharepoint application that use the Office Sharepoint Server Search service to call web services "A" and "B". The application will get data from service "A" to create a request that will be sent to service "B". The response coming from service "B" is indexed for search. The proxy is created programmatically using the ChannelFactory. When service "A" takes less than 10 minutes, the calls to service "B" are successfull. But when service "A" takes more time (~20 minutes) the calls to service "B" throw the following exception: Exception Message: An unsecured or incorrectly secured fault was received from the other party. See the inner FaultException for the fault code and detail Inner Exception Message: The message could not be processed. This is most likely because the action 'namespace/OperationName' is incorrect or because the message contains an invalid or expired security context token or because there is a mismatch between bindings. The security context token would be invalid if the service aborted the channel due to inactivity. To prevent the service from aborting idle sessions prematurely increase the Receive timeout on the service endpoint's binding. The binding settings are the same, the time in both client server and web service server are synchronize with the Windows Time service, same time zone. When i look at the server where web service "B" is hosted i can see the following security errors being logged: Source: Security Category: Logon/Logoff Event ID: 537 User NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM Logon Failure: Reason: An error occurred during logon Logon Type: 3 Logon Process: Kerberos Authentication Package: Kerberos Status code: 0xC000006D Substatus code: 0xC0000133 After reading some of the blogs online, the Status code means STATUS_LOGON_FAILURE and the substatus code means STATUS_TIME_DIFFERENCE_AT_DC. but i already checked both server and client clocks and they are syncronized. I also noticed that the security token seems to be cached somewhere in the client server because they have another process that calls the web service "B" using the same service account and successfully gets data the first time is called. Then they start the proccess to update the office sharepoint server search service indexes and it fails. Then if they called the first proccess again it will fail too.     I see there are similar problems posted here, but none of the solutions work for me. Here goes: I have a UIButton instance inside a UIView frame, which is positioned within another UIView frame, which is positioned in the main window UIView. To wit: UIWindow --> UIView (searchView) --> UISearchBar (findField) --> UIView (prevButtonView) --> UIButton (prevButton) --> UIView (nextButtonView) --> UIButton (nextButton) So far, so good: everything is laid out as I want it. However, the buttons aren't accepting user input of any kind. I am using the UIButton method addTarget:action:forControlEvents: and to give you an idea of what I'm doing, here's my code for nextButton: nextButton = [UIButton buttonWithType:UIButtonTypeCustom]; [nextButton setImage:[UIImage imageNamed:@"find_next_on.png"] forState:UIControlStateNormal]; [nextButton setImage:[UIImage imageNamed:@"find_next_off.png"] forState:UIControlStateDisabled]; [nextButton setImage:[UIImage imageNamed:@"find_next_off.png"] forState:UIControlStateHighlighted]; [nextButton addTarget:self action:@selector(nextResult:) forControlEvents:UIControlEventTouchUpInside]; The method nextResult: never gets called, the state of the button doesn't change on touching, and there's not a damned thing I've been able to do to get it working. I assume that there's an issue with all these layers of views: maybe something is sitting on top of my button, but I'm not sure what it could be. In the interest of information overload, I found a bit of code that would print out all my view info.     We have 2 identical database tables on our dev server. In both is a table that holds an X509Certificate2 data in one of its fields. When I grab the cert along with the password that I've been using all along, it works over the first database just fine. I run the same code though over the 2nd database and get this error and I don't get why if the setup is exactly the same and the database is also on this server. So I'm not sure why when I switch my connection string to talk to Database2, even though it's setup the same and the code I'm running over it is the same, it complains.   • Silverlight and Unexpected Font Sizes

    Someone please teach me to fish here... I'm just learning Silverlight and have ran into a few situations where the font size actually used is drastically different than I would expect. There's probably something conceptual that I'm missing. Case A In one instance, I have defined a user control that presents a Label to show text. If one clicks on the label, the label (that is in a stack panel, in the user control) is replaced with a TextBox. When used at the top of a page (as in the example below with lblName) the label text is very small (around 8 points). When clicked on, the text box that replaces the label uses the specified fonts size.   • IE7 not digesting JSON: "parse error" [resolved]

    While trying to GET a JSON, my callback function is NOT firing. $.ajax({ type:"GET", dataType:'json', url: myLocalURL, data: myData, success: function(returned_data){alert('success');} }); The strangest part of this is that my JSON(s) validates on JSONlint this ONLY fails on IE7...it works in Safari, Chrome, and all versions of Firefox, (EDIT: and even in IE8). If I use 'error', then it reports "parseError"...even though it validates! Is there anything that I'm missing? Does IE7 not process certain characters, data structures (my data doesn't have anything non-alphanumeric, but it DOES have nested JSONs)? I have used tons of other AJAX calls that all work (even in IE7), but with the exception of THIS call. An example data return (EDIT: This is a structurally-complete example, meaning it is only missing a few second-tier fields, but follows this exact hierarchy)here is: {"question":{ "question_id":"19", "question_text":"testing", "other_crap":"none" }, "timestamp":{ "response":"answer", "response_text":"the text here" } } I am completely at a loss. Hopefully someone has some insight into what's going on...thank you! ANSWER I finally managed to figure it out...mostly via tedious trial-and-error. I want to thank everyone for their suggestions...as soon as I have 15 rep, I'll upvote you, I promise. :) There was basically no way that you guys could have figured it out, because the issue turned out to be a strange bug between IE7 and Django (my research didn't bring up any similar issues). We were basically using Django template language to generate our JSON...and in the midst of this particular JSON, we were using custom template tags: {% load customfilter %} { "question":{ "question_id":"{{question.id}}", "question_text":"{{question.question_text|customfilterhere}}" } } As soon as I deleted anything related to the customfilter, IE7 was able to parse the JSON perfectly!   • Using DisplayTag library, I want to have the currently selected row have a unique custom class using

    I have been trying to figure out how to highlight the selected row in a table. In my jsp I have jsp scriplet that can get access to the id of the row the displaytag library is creating. I want to compare it to the the id of the current row selected by the user ${currentNoteId}. Right now if the row id = 849 (hardcoded) the class "currentClass" is added to just that row of the table. I need to change the 849 for the {$currentNoteId} and I don't know how to do it. I am using java, Spring MVC. If retrieving the album cover fails for some reason the object is filled with a default image and then added. The last line of the code is what's showing up in the crash log.     I have searched through every possible answer on SO for a solution, but nothing has worked. I am basically creating an excel file from a database and sending the results to the response stream using EPPlus(OpenXML). The following code gives me an error when trying to open my generated excel sheet "[report].xlsx is locked for editing by 'another user'." It will open fine the first time, but the second time it's locked.   • Very slow compile times on Visual Studio

    We are getting very slow compile times, which can take upwards of 20+ minutes on dual core 2GHz, 2G Ram machines. A lot of this is due to the size of our solution which has grown to 70+ projects, as well as VSS which is a bottle neck in itself when you have a lot of files. (swapping out VSS is not an option unfortunately, so I don't want this to descend into a VSS bash) We are looking at combing projects (not nice, as we like the separation of concerns, but is a good opportunity to refactor away some dead wood). We are also looking at having multiple solutions to achieve greater separation of concerns and quicker compile times for each element of the application. This I can see will become a dll hell as we try to keep things in synch. I am interested to know how other teams have dealt with this scaling issue, what do you do when your code base reaches a critical mass that you are wasting half the day watching the status bar deliver compile messages UPDATE Apologies, I neglected to mention this is a C# solution. Thanks for all the cpp suggestions, but it's been a few years since I've had to worry about headers. At a distance I say I miss C++, but I'm not sure I want to go back EDIT: Nice suggestions that have helped so far (not saying there aren't other nice suggestions below, just what has helped) New 3GHz laptop - the power of lost utilization works wonders when whinging to management Disable Anti Virus during compile 'Disconnecting' from VSS (actually the network) during compile - I may get us to remove VS-VSS integration altogether and stick to using the VSS UI Still not rip-snorting through a compile, but every bit helps. Orion did mention in a comment that generics may have a play also. From my tests there does appear to be a minimal performance hit, but not high enough to sure - compile times can be inconsistent due to disc activity. Due to time limitations, my tests didn't include as many Generics, or as much code, as would appear in live system, so that may accumulate. I wouldn't avoid using generics where they are supposed to be used, just for compile time performance WORKAROUND We are testing the practice of building new areas of the application in new solutions, importing in the latest dlls as required, them integrating them into the larger solution when we are happy with them. We may also do them same to existing code by creating temporary solutions that just encapsulate the areas we need to work on, and throwing them away after reintegrating the code. We need to weigh up the time it will take to reintegrate this code against the time we gain by not having Rip Van Winkle like experiences with rapid recompiling during development.
