• what is wrong in java AES decrypt function?

• stack overflow on XMLListCollection collectionEvent

  I'm working on a Flex 3 project, and I'm using a pair of XMLListCollection(s) to manage a combobox and a data grid. The combobox piece is working perfectly. The XMLListCollection for this is static. The user picks an item, and, on "change", it fires off an addItem() to the second collection. The second collection's datagrid then displays the updated list, and all is well. The datagrid, however, is editable. A further complication is that I have another event handler bound to the second XMLLIstCollection's "change" event, and in that handler, I do make additional changes to the second list. This essentially causes an infinite loop (a stack overflow :D ), of the second lists "change" handler. I'm not really sure how to handle this. Searching has brought up an idea or two regarding AutoUpdate functionality, but I wasn't able to get much out of them. In particular, the behavior persists, executing the 'updates' as soon as I re-enable, so I imagine I may be doing it wrong. I want the update to run, in general, just not DURING that code block. • Java error on bilinear interpolation of 16 bit data

  I'm having an issue using bilinear interpolation for 16 bit data. I have two images, origImage and displayImage. I want to use AffineTransformOp to filter origImage through an AffineTransform into displayImage which is the size of the display area. origImage is of type BufferedImage.TYPE_USHORT_GRAY and has a raster of type sun.awt.image.ShortInterleavedRaster. Here is the code I have right now displayImage = new BufferedImage(getWidth(), getHeight(), origImage.getType()); try { op = new AffineTransformOp(atx, AffineTransformOp.TYPE_BILINEAR); op.filter(origImage, displayImage); } catch (Exception e) { e.printStackTrace(); } In order to show the error I have created 2 gradient images. One has values in the 15 bit range (max of 32767) and one in the 16 bit range (max of 65535). Below are the two images 15 bit image 16 bit image These two images were created in identical fashions and should look identical, but notice the line across the middle of the 16 bit image. At first I thought that this was an overflow problem however, it is weird that it's manifesting itself in the center of the gradient instead of at the end where the pixel values are higher. Also, if it was an overflow issue than I would suspect that the 15 bit image would have been affected as well. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

• MySQL & PHP - Creating Multiple Parent Child Relations

  Hi, I'm trying to build a navigation system using categories table with hierarchies. Normally, the table would be defined as follows: id (int) - Primary key name (varchar) - Name of the Category parentid (int) - Parent ID of this Category referenced to same table (Self Join) But the catch is that I require that a category can be child to multiple parent categories.. Just like a Has and Belongs to Many (HABTM) relation. I know that if there are two tables, categories & items, we use a join table categories_items to list the HABTM relations. But here i'm not having two tables but only table but should somehow show HABTM relations to itself. Is this be possible using a single table? If yes, How? If not possible, what rules (table naming, fields) should I follow while creating the additional join table? I'm trying to achieve this using CakePHP, If someone can provide CakePHP solution for this problem, that would be awesome. Even if that's not possible, any solution about creating join table is appreciated. Thanks for your time.

  Here's a regex that I've cobbled up: /(.*={76}\s)?\s*(.*?)\s\-\-\s(\d{2}\/\d{2}\-\d{2}\s\d{2}:\d{2})\s\s(.*?)\s(http:\/\/service.*?)\s(\-{76})/is and here's the text I will be parsing: http://p.linode.com/7015 and here's the replacement for the matched text: <item>\n\t<title>$2</title>\n\t<pubDate>$pubDate</pubDate>\n\t<description>$4</description>\n\t<link>$5</link>\n</item>\n\n I have almost come up with a regex needed to parse a block of text into RSS 2.0 XML markup. I've tested it with RegExr and RegexBuddy and it works perfectly except for the last "item" where there is no line breaks after the link (Line 269). In short, the problem is the "iProperty" article in the text is not matched. Any regex gurus willing to help me troubleshoot what's wrong? I've tried /(.*={76}\s)?\s*(.*?)\s\-\-\s(\d{2}\/\d{2}\-\d{2}\s\d{2}:\d{2})\s\s(.*?)\s(http:\/\/service.*?)\s*(\-{76})/is Here's the output that I get: http://p.linode.com/7016 but that didn't work as I expected (i.e. a newline would be optional). • Tool for braceless, whitespace sensitive C syntax

  I'm writing some C at the moment and because I like whitespace sensitive syntax, I'd like to write it like this: #include <stdio.h> int main(void) printf("Hello, world!") return 0 Instead of this: #include <stdio.h> int main(void) { printf("Hello, world!"); return 0; } Does anybody know of a tool that will convert the former into the latter? Edit: I've really no interest in arguing with those that think this is a bad idea. By all means continue to think that, you have your reasons. But at least know this: I'm aware Python is a whitespace sensitive language but I have not used it. Why would I? I know Ruby already. Also know: I am not just learning C for the first time and I have used PHP and JavaScript for more than four years, so I am not requesting this out of some personal difficulty, lack of familiarity with block syntax, or dogmatic affiliation. I am also aware of what would be involved in writing one of these and that's not beyond my ability but I don't want this enough to justify spending the time writing one.

• Static variable not initialized

  Hi all, I've got a strange problem with a static variable that is obviously not initialized as it should be. I have a huge project that runs with Windows and Linux. As the Linux developer doesn't have this problem I would suggest that this is some kind of wired Visual Studio stuff. Header file class MyClass { // some other stuff here ... private: static AnotherClass* const Default_; }; CPP file AnotherClass* const Default_(new AnotherClass("")); MyClass(AnotherClass* const var) { assert(Default_); ... } Problem is that Default_is always NULL. I also tried a breakpoint at the initialization of that variable but I cannot catch it. There is a similar problem in another class. CPP file std::string const MyClass::MyString_ ("someText"); MyClass::MyClass() { assert(MyString_ != ""); ... } In this case MyString_is always empty. So again not initialized. Does anyone have an idea about that? Is this a Visual Studio settings problem? Cheers Simon

• can a OOM be caused by not finding enough contiguous memory?

  I start some java code with -Xmx1024m, and at some point I get an hprof due to OOM. The hprof shows just 320mb, and give me a stack trace: at java.util.Arrays.copyOfRange([CII)[C (Arrays.java:3209) at java.lang.String.<init>([CII)V (String.java:215) at java.lang.StringBuilder.toString()Ljava/lang/String; (StringBuilder.java:430) ... This comes from a large string I am copying. I remember reading somewhere (cannot find where) what happened is these cases is: process still has not consumed 1gb of memory, is way below even if heap still below 1gb, it needs some amount of memory, and for copyOfRange() it has to be continuous memory, so even if it is not over the limit yet, it cannot find a large enough piece of memory on the host, it fails with an OOM. I have tried to look for doc on this (copyOfRange() needs a block of continuous memory), but could not find any. The other possible culprit would be not enough permgen memory. Can someone confirm or refute the continuous memory hypothesis? Any pointer to some doc would help too.

Is this even possible ? The reason why I am using Silverlight is that I want to preview the image before uploading it to server and it is very simple in Silverlight. I failed to do that in JavaScript and that is why Silverlight might be more useful here.

In my CBTProc callback, I want to intercept all windows that are QWidgets: HWND hwnd= FindWindow(L"QWidget", NULL); which works well, since I get a corresponding HWND (I checked with Spy++) Then, I want to get a pointer to the QWidget, so I can use its functions: QWidget* q = QWidget::find(hwnd); but here's the problem, the returned pointer is always 0. Am I not injecting my code into the process properly? Or am I not using QWidget::find() as I should? • Why is it assumed that send may return with less than requested data transmitted on a blocking socke

  The standard method to send data on a stream socket has always been to call send with a chunk of data to write, check the return value to see if all data was sent and then keep calling send again until the whole message has been accepted. For example this is a simple example of a common scheme: int send_all(int sock, unsigned char *buffer, int len) { int nsent; while(len 0) { nsent = send(sock, buffer, len, 0); if(nsent == -1) // error return -1; buffer += nsent; len -= nsent; } return 0; // ok, all data sent } Even the BSD manpage mentions that ...If no messages space is available at the socket to hold the message to be transmitted, then send() normally blocks... Which indicates that we should assume that send may return without sending all data. Now I find this rather broken but even W. Richard Stevens assumes this in his standard reference book about network programming, not in the beginning chapters, but the more advanced examples uses his own writen (write all data) function instead of calling write. Now I consider this still to be more or less broken, since if send is not able to transmit all data or accept the data in the underlying buffer and the socket is blocking, then send should block and return when the whole send request has been accepted. I mean, in the code example above, what will happen if send returns with less data sent is that it will be called right again with a new request. What has changed since last call? At max a few hundred CPU cycles have passed so the buffer is still full. If send now accepts the data why could'nt it accept it before? Otherwise we will end upp with an inefficient loop where we are trying to send data on a socket that cannot accept data and keep trying, or else? So it seems like the workaround, if needed, results in heavily inefficient code and in those circumstances blocking sockets should be avoided at all an non blocking sockets together with select should be used instead.

• Custom DataType in DataTemplate breaks WPF designer

  Why does the DataTemplate line break the WPF designer in Visual Studio 2008? The program compiles and runs properly. The DataTemplate is applied as it should. • Cannot hide a UIButton - Please help!

  Hey again, I have the following code: visitSite.hidden = YES; For some reason, when I click a UIButton and call this piece of code, the visitSite button does not hide. The code is within this block: -(IBAction)welcomeButtonPressed:(id)sender { [UIButton beginAnimations:@"welcomeAnimation" context:NULL]; [UIButton setAnimationDuration:1.5]; [UIButton SetAnimationDidStopSelector:@selector(nowHideThisSiteButton:finished:context:)]; [UIButton setAnimationTransition:UIViewAnimationTransitionCurlUp forView:self.view cache:YES]; ((UIView *)sender).hidden = YES; [UIButton commitAnimations]; } and the stop selector below: -(void)nowHideThisSiteButton:(NSString *)animationID finished:(BOOL *)finished context:(void *)context { visitSite.hidden = YES; } I've also tried [visitSite setHidden:YES]; and that fails as well. ALSO I've noticed that the setAnimationDidStopSelector does not get called at all. Also, visitSite (when NSLogged) equals: <UIButton: 0x1290f0; frame = (0 0; 320 460); opaque = NO; autoresize = RM+BM; layer = <CALayer: 0x1290f0>> visitSite.hidden (when NSLogged) equals: NULL Any more ideas? :(

• Print a string that contains a certain pattern in Java

  I am trying to find a regular expression within a line of a .csv file, so I can eventually save all the matches to another file, and lose all the other junk. So a line in my file might look like: MachineName,User,IP,VariableData,Location The VariableData is what I want to match, and if there's a match, print the line. I am using a pattern for this because I only want 3 out of 10 of variations of VariableData, and out of those 3, they are numbered differently(example, "pc104, pccrt102, pccart65"). I am trying to do this using the Scanner Class and keeping it simple as possible so I can understand it. I've played around with the Matcher class a little bit, but only found a way to match the expression but not get the whole line. My other throught was maybe somehow count the line that contains the pattern, then go back and print the line that corresponds to the counts.

• Firefox 3.6 and CSS difference from previous versions of Firefox 3.5 and back?

  So, in upgrading to Firefox 3.6, the CSS broke on input boxes. The padding has increased -- it might also be the font-size is somehow behaving different. Wondering if anyone else has seen this problem yet. Can't quite figure it out. HTML CODE: <form> <fieldset> <label for="inputField">Label</label> <input type="text" id="inputField" /> </fieldset> </form> CSS CODE: form fieldset label { display:block; font-size:1.2em; font-weight:bold; padding:12px 9px; } #jumptoBox fieldset input { background: url("../images/input.png") no-repeat scroll left top transparent; font-size: 1.2em; padding: 4px 5px 16px; width: 99px; height: 29px; } (Image dimensions: 109 width x 34 height) So one thing to note, the fix (as outlined below) includes removing the height, or at least setting it to auto, and then compensating for it by using padding (a fix that bothers me on many levels, but we'll set that aside for now). BUT webkit seems to have its own problems with this now, since it wants to center the text vertically (ignoring any evidence of line-height) according to the height of everything. In other words, if you want the text vertically closer to the top, I haven't been able to figure out a way to do that. Ideas?
