• Android: Strange out of memory issue

  I am not sure where to start to explain this one. I have a list view with a couple image buttons on each row. When you click the list row, it launches a new activity. If you review some of my other posts, I have had to build my own tabs because of an issue w/ the camera layout. The activity that gets launched for result is a map. If I click on my button to launch the image preview (load an image off the sd card) the application returns from the activity back to the listview activity to the result handler to relaunch my new activity which is nothing more than an image widget. So here is the issue, the image preview on the list view is being done w/ the cursor & listadapter. This makes it pretty simple, but I am not sure how I can put a resized (i.e. smaller bit size not pixel) image as the src for the imgbutton on the fly. So I just resized the image that came off the phone camera. The issue is that I get an out of memory error when it tries to go back and re-launch the 2nd activity. ** My question : is there a way I can build the list adapter easily row by row, where I can resize on the fly (bit wise)? - this would be preferable as I also need to make some changes to the properties of the widgets/elements in each row as I am unable to select a row w/ touch screen b/c of focus issue. (I can use roller ball). ** I know I can do an out of band resize and save of my image, but that is not really what I want to do, but some sample code for that would be nice if that is your suggestion. As soon as I disabled the image on the listview it worked fine again. • JQuery tablesorter - Keeping grouped subheaders together, but still sorted

  Hiya, I'm not really a Javascript programmer, so I'm struggling with this! I'm using the tablesorter plugin along with the Tablegroup plugin, which work very nicely to group the table rows by a parent, and then sort the parents. My problem is though, that I'd also like the child rows to be sorted whilst within the parent group I've done my best to get this working but I'm afraid I've hit a wall. Can anyone suggest a new starter for 10? • Android strange behavior with listview and custom cursor adapter

  I have a problem with a list view and a custom cursor adapter and I just can't seem to figure out what is wrong with my code. Basically, in my activity I call initalize() that does a bunch of stuff to handle getting the proper data and initializing the listview. On first run of the activity you can see from the images that one of the items is missing from the list. If I go to another activity and go back to this activity the item that was missing shows up. I believe it has something to do with setContentView(R.layout.parent). If I move that to my initialize() then the item never shows up even when returning from another activity. So, for some reason, returning from another activity bypasses setContentView(R.layout.parent) and everything works fine. I know it's impossible for me to bypass setContentView(R.layout.parent) so I need to figure out what the problem is. Also, I did not include the layout because it is nothing more then two textviews. Also, the images I have attached do not show that the missing item is the last one on the list. • Many to Many Logic in ASP.NET MVC

  Hi All, I will restrict this to the three tables I am trying to work with Problem, Communications, and ProbComms. The scenario is that a Student may have many Problems concurrently which may affect their studies. Lecturers may have future communications with a student after an initial problem is logged, however as a Student may have multiple Problems the Lecturer may decide that the discussion they had is related to more than one Problem. The LINQ I am using for ProbComms is This is located in the Model class ProbCommRepository, and accessed via a IProbCommRepository interface: public IQueryable<ProbComm> FindAllProblemComms(string studentEmail) { return (from p in db.ProbComms where p.Problem.StudentEmail.Equals(studentEmail) orderby p.Problem.ProblemDateTime select p); } However for example if I have this data in the ProbComms table: ProblemID CommunicationID 1 1 1 2 The query returns two rows so I assume I somehow have to groupby Problem or ProblemID but I am not too sure how to do this with the way I have built things as the return type has to be ProbComm for the query as thats what Model class its located in. • Many to Many with LINQ-To-Sql and ASP.NET MVC

  Hi All, I will restrict this to the three tables I am trying to work with Problem, Communications, and ProbComms. The scenario is that a Student may have many Problems concurrently which may affect their studies. Lecturers may have future communications with a student after an initial problem is logged, however as a Student may have multiple Problems the Lecturer may decide that the discussion they had is related to more than one Problem. The LINQ I am using for ProbComms is This is located in the Model class ProbCommRepository, and accessed via a IProbCommRepository interface: public IQueryable<ProbComm> FindAllProblemComms(string studentEmail) { return (from p in db.ProbComms where p.Problem.StudentEmail.Equals(studentEmail) orderby p.Problem.ProblemDateTime select p); } However for example if I have this data in the ProbComms table: ProblemID CommunicationID 1 1 1 2 The query returns two rows so I assume I somehow have to groupby Problem or ProblemID but I am not too sure how to do this with the way I have built things as the return type has to be ProbComm for the query as thats what Model class its located in. • HP to Cisco spanning tree root flapping

  Per a recent question I recently configured both my HP (2x 2900) and Cisco (1x 3750) hardware to use MSTP for interoperability. I thought this was functional until I applied the change to the third device (HP switch 1 below) at which time the spanning tree root started flapping causing performance issues (5% packet loss) between my two HP switches. I'm not sure why. HP Switch 1 A4 connected to Cisco 1/0/1. HP Switch 2 B2 connected to Cisco 2/0/1. HP Switch 1 A2 connected to HP Switch 2 A1. I'd prefer the Cisco stack to act as the root. EDIT: There is one specific line - 'spanning-tree 1 path-cost 500000' in the HP switch 2 that I didn't add and was preexisting. I'm not sure if it could have the kind of impact that I'm describing. I'm more a security and monitoring guy then networking. EDIT 2: I'm starting to believe the problem lies in the fact that the value for my MST 0 instance on the Cisco is still at the default 32768. I worked up a diagram: This is based on every show command I could find for STP. I'll make this change after hours and see if it helps. • jQuery - Opening links within tabs

  Hi all, At present I have some jQuery tabs and these tabs contain links. Unfortunately on following one of the links, the new page opens as if you were following any normal link i.e. not within the tab which is want I would want to happen. • SP Gridview link button column not working

  Hi I have one sharepoint custom page application which is rendering from a user control. In the user control page, i had used SPGridview for displaying data. My first column is Title Column (link button column), when the user click on the link, then one popup window will open with corresponding data. But the problem is the link button is not working properly. But this application is working as fine in asp.net application. • Content display problems when using Suckerfish menus with 960.gs and IE

  I'm using 960.gs layout and when I add the suckerfish menu as part of the content to one of the grids, the contents of adjacent siblings bleed through the menu in all versions of IE. In the listed html below, the text from 'belowFoldSection' will appear through the menu when it is visible and has enough items to make it span over 2nd section. However, the contents of 'introSummary' will be underneath the menu, as expected. I've set the z-index for #nav and #nav ul in my css and this of course makes it work in FF, Chrome and Safari, but not in IE (because IE incorrectly assigns child elements its own z-index). If I change the .grid_nn class 'position' attribute (set by default in the 960 template) from 'relative' to absolute, this fixes it in IE. However, it is my understanding that I don't want the child elements of the 'container_12' to be taken out of the flow of the document and want them positioned relative to the .container_12's starting point. (Changing the attribute to absolute causes other general layout problems) Can anyone suggest a work-around? Or any other Jquery doesn't seem to work as its in any of the tabs DIVs. Any ideas?

Investigation on StackOverflow and generally googling led me to this blog post that seems to describe my problem: TryUpdateModel() does not correctly handle nested collections. Apparently, (and stepping through the debugger confirms this) it creates a new ChildObject instead of associating with the EF objects from my instantiated context. My hacky work around is this: if (viewModel.ChildObjects.Count > 0) { foreach (ChildObject modelChildObject in viewModel.ChildObjects) { ChildObject childToUpdate = ParentObject.ChildObject.Where(a => a.ID == modelChildObject.ID).First(); childToUpdate.Name = modelChildObject.Name; } } This seems to work fine. My question to you good folks: Is there correct way to do this? I tried following the suggestion for making a custom model binder per the blog link I posted above but it didn't work (there was an issue with reflection) and I needed to get something going ASAP. PS - I tried to cleanup the code to hide specific information, so beware I may have hosed something up. I mainly just want to know if other people have solved this problem. Thanks!

  I want to call the function upon the onmouseover="ParentFunction();" then kill it onmouseout="killParent();". • ASP.NET treeview populate child nodes. How can I avoid a postback to server?

  I am trying to test populate on demand for a treeview. I follow the procedure from these links: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/e8z5184w.aspx But the treeview still make a postback to the server if I expanded one of the tree nodes (If you put a breakpoint in the first line of Page_load event), thus refreshing the whole page.   A query (see below) that extracts climate data from weather stations within a given radius of a city using the dates for which those weather stations actually have data. The query uses the table's only index, rather effectively: CREATE UNIQUE INDEX measurement_001_stc_idx ON climate.measurement_001 USING btree (station_id, taken, category_id); Reducing the server's configuration value for random_page_cost from 2.0 to 1.1 had a massive performance improvement for the given range (nearly an order of magnitude) because it suggested to PostgreSQL that it should use the index. While the results now return in 5 seconds (down from ~85 seconds), problematic lines remain. Bumping the query's end date by a single year causes a full table scan: sc.taken_start >= '1900-01-01'::date AND sc.taken_end <= '1997-12-31'::date AND How do I persuade PostgreSQL to use the indexes regardless of years between the two dates? • storing session data in mysql using php is not retrieving the data properly from the tables.

  I have a problem retrieving some data from the $_SESSION using php and mysql. I've commented out the line in php.ini that tells the server to use the "file" to store the session info so my database will be used. I have a class that I use to write the information to the database and its working fine. When the user passes their credentials the class gets instantiated and the $_SESSION vars get set, then the user gets redirected to the index page. The index.php page includes the file where the db session class is, which when instantiated calles session_start() and the session variables should be in $_SESSION, but when I do var_dump($_SESSION) there is nothing in the array. However, when I look at the data in mysql, all the session information is in there. Its acting like session_start() has not been called, but by instantiating the class it is. Any idea what could be wrong?   Hello good fellas! in my journey of learning hibernate i came across an article on hibernate site. i' learning spring too and wanted to do certain things to discover the flexibility of spring by letting you implement you own session.yes i don't want to use the hibernateTemplate(for experiment). and i'm now having a problem and even the test class.I followed the article on the hibernate site especially the section an "implementation with hibernate" so we have the generic dao interface : public interface GenericDAO<T, ID extends Serializable> { T findById(ID id, boolean lock); attempting to store an EntityManager object into an EntityManagerFactory field, but I don't understand how or why. My DAO classes accept both an EntityManager and EntityManagerFactory via the @PersistenceContext attribute, and they work find if I load them up and run them without the @ContextConfiguration attribute (i.e. if I just use the XmlApplcationContext to load the DAO and the EntityManagerFactory directly in setUp ()). • Creating a menu using xslt for Umbraco

  I've created a menu in umbraco using XSLT. The menu is using the usual ul and li elements and I'm displaying only the first level of the menu. The aim is to create a menu that expands to show the sub menu when I click a parent node (in the top level). I am after the xslt I would need to expose the sub menu when clicked. I think I would need to make use of ancestor-or-self to detect the current menu and parent menu and display them and also the $currentPage variable. My menu: Item 1 Item 2 Item 3 Item 4 when I click on Item 2 I want to see it's child menu too: Item 1 Item 2 -- Item 2.1 -- Item 2.2 Item 3 Item 4 and so on down the nested menu.
