  Can you help me understand Linux HA? Pacemaker, Heartbeat, Corosync seem to be part of a whole HA stack, but how do they fit together? How does wackamole differ from Pacemaker/Heartbeat/Corosync? I've seen opinions that wackamole is better than Heartbeat because it's peer-based. Is that valid? The last release of wackamole was 2.5 years ago. Is it still being maintained or active? What would you recommend for HA setup for web/application/database servers?

• Android app (with felix) crashes with LinearAlloc exceeded capacity

  I am running apache felix and an osgi app on android (3.2). This works pretty well so far, but I have rather large chunks of data to load into the application (osgi bundles). The problem with that is that when I load the biggest chunk of data I get LinearAlloc exceeded capacity The error seems to come from LinearAlloc.c \#define DEFAULT_MAX_LENGTH (4*1024*1024) if (nextOffset > pHdr->mapLength) { /* * We don't have to abort here. We could fall back on the system * malloc(), and have our "free" call figure out what to do. Only * works if the users of these functions actually free everything * they allocate. */ LOGE("LinearAlloc exceeded capacity, last=%d\n", (int) size); dvmAbort(); } afaik in 3.2/4.x it is even 8*1024*1024, but I still hit that limit. I'm looking to get better insight on what causes this problem and how I might possibly be able to fix it. Any help would be appreciated.

• Boost.Python tutorial in Ubuntu 10.04

  I downloaded the latest version of Boost and I'm trying to get the Boost.python tutorial up and running on Ubuntu 10.04: http://www.boost.org/doc/libs/1_43_0/libs/python/doc/tutorial/doc/html/python/hello.html I navigated to the correct directory, ran "bjam" and it compiled using default settings. I did not yet create a bjam config file. The compilation appears to have worked, but now I have no idea how to include the files in my python script. When I try to run the python hello world script, it gives me this error: Traceback (most recent call last): File "./hello.py", line 6, in <module> import hello_ext ImportError: libboost_python.so.1.43.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory Anyone know what is going on?

• Embedding PDF documents into websites

  I need to embed some PDF documents into a website. The last time I did this, I used a jQuery lightbox to popup an iFrame with the PDF document as the URL. The client's PDF viewer would then take care of the rest. Apparently though, that was a bit buggy on some other peoples browsers. I guess it was due to the large PDF file sizes and the effort it took for their computers to fire up Adobe. So I'm after ideas on how to go about this. How do you guys embed your PDF's into websites? Or do you just stick to adding a download link?

  hello I am working on a simple combinatorics part, and found that I need to recover position of two bits given position of other two bits in 4-bits srring. for example, (0,1) maps to (2,3), (0,2) to (1,3), etc. for a total of six combinations. My solution is to test bits using four nested ternary operators: ab is a four bit string, with two bits set. c = ((((ab & 1) ? (((ab & 2) ? ... ))) : 0) abc = ab | c recover the last bit in the same fashion from abc. can you think of a better way/more clever way? thanks

  Hi, I'm trying to use variable in variable in conjunction with delayed expansion but still no luck. SETLOCAL EnableDelayedExpansion SET ERROR_COMMAND=exit /B ^!ERRORLEVEL^! This is my last try. I want to setup an ERROR_COMMAND to be called when one of the steps in batch file crashes. The command is supposed to be: IF ERRORLEVEL 1 !ERROR_COMMAND! or IF ERRORLEVEL 1 %ERROR_COMMAND% The thing is, I'm not able to find out, how to SET properly the ERROR_COMMAND variable, so that ERRORLEVEL is not evaluated at the time of assignment, but at the time of evaluating the variable Of course I can copy&paste the code all over the batch file, but using the variable just seems a bit prettier...   I am creating a website, and have a tabbed horizontal menu. In order to cut back on the number of files I have to edit when I have to make changes to the menu I want to put the navigation in a separate file that I can call using a PHP include statement. When I do this, however, the nav disappears entirely from the page. The rest of the content remains, and there are no error messages. I have been looking for answers for this for weeks, and have tried every version of the PHP include statement that I could find. None of them worked. This was the last attempt. I have the file "nav.php" in a folder named "includes" in a main dir called "testsite" I use Windows XP, use NotePad++ as my text editor, and have been testing in Firefox. I can't find an answer anywhere - any help would be appreciated. Lorianna

  I'm searching for an algorithm for Digit summing. Let me outline the basic principle: Say you have a number: 18268. 1 + 8 + 2 + 6 + 8 = 25 2 + 5 = 7 And 7 is our final number. It's basically adding each number of the whole number until we get down to a single (also known as a 'core') digit. It's often used by numerologists. I'm searching for an algorithm (doesn't have to be language in-specific) for this. I have searched Google for the last hour with terms such as digit sum algorithm and whatnot but got no suitable results. Any help would be great, thanks.

  I was wondering how Java takes the following scenario public static void main(String[] args) throws IndexOutOfBoundsException, CoordinateException, MissionException, SQLException, ParserConfigurationException { try { doSomething(); } catch (Exception e) { e.printStackTrace(); } } In the above code, I am declaring the main function to throw many different exceptions, but inside the function, I am catching the generic Exception. I am wondering how java takes this internally? I.e., say doSomething() throws an IndexOutOfBounds exception, will the e.printStackTrace() get called in the last catch (Exception e) {...} block? I know if an exception not declared in the throws area of the function gets thrown, the try/catch will handle it, but what about exceptions mentioned in the declaration?

• ORM in the realworld

  I am begining a new project that i think will last for some years. Am in the point of deciding the ORM framework to use (or whether to use one at all). Can anyone with experience tell me whether orm frameworks are used in realworld applications. The problem i have in mind is this: The orm tool will generate for me tables and columns etc as i create and modify my entities. However, after the project has gone live and is in production, certain database changes will not be possible. Can this hinder the advancement of the project. If i had used a framework like ibatis for example, i know i would only need to adjust the sql statements based on the database changes. Can someone tell me whether ORM tools have survived the live environment. At my office, we use java based ERP that was done long ago and it was never done using any ORM framework. Regards. Josh

  I seem to have run into a bit of an issue. I am busy creating an app, and over the last few weeks setup my server to use Git, mod_wsgi to host this app. Since deploying it, everything seems to be running smoothly however, I had to go through all my files and insert the absolute url of the project to make sure it works fine. on my local machine from registration.models import UserRegistration on server from myapp.registration.models import UserRegistration Am I doing something wrong? And this has also caused an issue for me where I cannot access my django admin interface. All i get is this: Caught an exception while rendering: No module named registration Exception Value: Caught an exception while rendering: No module named registration As far as I am concerned my app has all the relevant urls, but it does not seem to work.   Hi, Is there any way to get taskbar's battery and phonesignal indicators icons and then draw into a picturebox or something? Why do I need this? I need all screen space available, so all forms are maximized and they cover up the windowsmobile taskbar. But, I have to display information about battery e phone signal strength in just a couple of forms. I know how to get their values (like systeminformation.phonesignalstrength), but what I want is the "current icon", so I don't need to worry about their values. It's just a visual information for the user. In last case, if this is not possible, how to get those icons from windowsmobile shell, so I'll draw them by my self, treating each differente status/values that they assume. (This is what I don't want to do!) Thanks in advance and sorry for my poor english.

  I am getting "too many connections" problem in an Asp .Net Mvc application which get fix when i manually kill process through Mysql v6.56 IDE, But on remote hosting computer where i can't kill process each time how can i fix this error. I have tried making a connection to information_schema DB's PROCESSLIST table but when connection is about to execute command there comes an error "access denied of root@loclahostto information_schema". I also have tried to grant all privileges to root@loclahost but still i am not able to fix this problem. I have been coding the same way from last two years but in this application i am getting this problem i have use close each connection in every method. Please if some one have ever got this problem or know the answer.Please help me. Thanx in advance

In regard to specifity both elements are equal in specifity the case2 will be the most specify one (as it is equal specific but the last one). But does specifity always apply to the whole selector with ALL properties defined. Or only the the properties that are are in "competition" (and declared in both). thanks!!!!

• Why does my DHTML menu have huge layout issues in IE7?

  This one's got me stumped. Usually with a little CSS juggling here and there I am able to solve most IE7 CSS bugs, but not this one! Head on over to the example page and view it in IE7, you will soon see that when mousing over the (vertical) drop down menu on the left of the page, it opens the sub menu WAY over to the right. I have pulled every last hair out! If it helps, the menu was made with 'Sothink DHTML Menu 9' As always, all replies are much appreciated.
