• C#: Cannot handle redirect from HTTP/HTTPS protocols to other dissimilar ones

  Basically, I'm trying to grab an EXE from CNet's Download.com So i created web parser and so far all is going well. Here is a sample link pulled directly from their site: http://dw.com.com/redir?edId=3&siteId=4&oId=3001-20_4-10308491&ontId=20_4&spi=e6323e8d83a8b4374d43d519f1bd6757&lop=txt&tag=idl2&pid=10566981&mfgId=6250549&merId=6250549&pguid=PlvcGQoPjAEAAH5rQL0AAABv&destUrl=ftp%3A%2F%2F202.190.201.108%2Fpub%2Fryl2%2Fclient%2Finstaller-ryl2_v1673.exe Here is the problem: When you attempt to download, it begins with HTTP, then redirects to an FTP site. I have tried .NET's WebClient and HttpWebRequest Objects, and it looks like Neither can support Redirects. • Exception from HRESULT: 0x80020009 (DISP_E_EXCEPTION)) in SharePoint

  Hi all: After googling for many hours for a solution for the above Sharepoint exception, I have come to SO for help on this one... I believe the cause of me getting the above exception is because of the following code: try { using (SPSite site = new SPSite(siteId, spUserToken)) { using (SPWeb web = site.OpenWeb(webId)) { createNewSite(web); } } } createNewSite(web) changes the name and URL of "web" using AllowUnsafeUpdates, so when it comes out of the method it has been changed. My few months worth of Sharepoint developing experience suggest that that is the cause of the exception. "web" is no longer used anymore so I can comfortably null it myself. The problem here is... it didnt work: try { using (SPSite site = new SPSite(siteId, spUserToken)) { SPWeb web = null; using (web = site.OpenWeb(webId)) { createNewSite(web); if (web != null) { web = null; } } } } I believe that the original developer used the using declaration to avoid SPWeb objects from leaking. Asides that I think it is okay for me to break this pattern solely for the purpose of getting rid of that dreaded exception. So the question: what can I do to the above code to potentially fix this exception? Thanks.

• Entity Framework: Delete Object and its related entities

  Hi, Does anyone know how to delete an object and all of it's related entities. For example i have tables, Products, Category, ProductCategory and productDetails, the productCategory is joining table of both Product and Category. I have red from http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb738580.aspx that Deleting the parent object also deletes all the child objects in the constrained relationship. This result is the same as enabling the CascadeDelete property on the association for the relationship. I am using this code Product productObj = this.ObjectContext.Product.Where(p => p.ProductID.Equals(productID)).First(); if (!productObj.ProductCategory.IsLoaded) productObj.ProductCategory.Load(); if (!productObj.ProductDetails.IsLoaded) productObj.ProductDetails.Load(); //my own methods. base.Delete(productObj); base.SaveAllObjectChanges(); But i am getting error on ObjectContext.SaveChanges(); i.e A relationship is being added or deleted from an AssociationSet 'FK_ProductCategory_Product'. • NSString variable out of scope in sub-class (iPhone/Obj-C)

  I am following along with an example in a book with the code exactly as it is in the example code as well as from the book, and I'm getting an error at runtime. I'll try to describe the life cycle of this variable as good as I can. I have a controller class with a nested array that is populated with string literals (NSArray of NSArrays, the nested NSArrays initialized with arrayWithObjects: where the objects are all string literals - @"some string"). I access these strings with a helper method added via a category on NSArray (to pull strings out of a nested array). My controller gets a reference to this string and assigns it to a NSString property on a child controller using dot notation. The code looks like this (nestedObjectAtIndexPath is my helper method): NSString *rowKey = [rowKeys nestedObjectAtIndexPath:indexPath]; controller.keypath = rowKey; keypath is a synthesized nonatomic, retain property defined in a based class. When I hit a breakpoint in the controller at the above code, the NSString's value is as expected. When I hit the next breakpoint inside the child controller, the object id of the keypath property is the same as before, but instead of showing me the value of the NSString, XCode says that the variable is "out of scope" which is also the error I see in the console. This also happens in another sub-class of the same parent. I tried googling, and I saw slightly similar cases where people were suggesting this had to do with retain counts. I was under the impression that by using dot notation on a synthesized property, my class would be using an "auto generated accessor" that would be increasing my retain count for me so that I wouldn't have this problem. Could there be any implications because I'm accessing it in a sub-class and the prop is defined in the parent? I don't see anything in the book's errata about this, but the book is relatively new (Apress - More iPhone 3 Dev). I also have double checked that my code matches the example 100 times.

  I have wsdl from third party server. Method that i'm interested in returns XmlNode. My thought was wrap web methods and use XmlSerializer to return strongly typed objects. Returned xml looks like this (i removed soap headers): <Response xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xsi:type="ResponseExt" xmlns="http://www.thirdparty.com/lr/"> <Code>0</Code> <Message>SUCCESS</Message> <SessionId>session_token</SessionId> </Response> Looked simple. Created a class: [XmlRoot("Response")] public class MyClass { public string Code {get; set;} public string Message {get; set;} public string SessionId {get; set;} } Processing time: //XmlNode node = xml from above XmlSerializer serializer = new XmlSerializer(typeof(MyClass)); XmlNodeReader reader = new XmlNodeReader(node); Myclass myclass = serializer.Deserialize(reader) as MyClass Last line is where it blows up with inner exception message: The specified type was not recognized: name='ResponseExt', namespace='http://www.thirdparty.com/lr/', at . The button is placed in a page 'MyPage.xaml' but its custom ICommand class is placed in another class, not in the MyPage code behind. • Autocompletebox text in Silverlight

  I'm having trouble getting the autocomplete box in System.Windows.Controls.Input working as I wish. When I start typing the dropdown section that displays the filtered list doesn't show the property that I'm binding to, it shows the class name instead. So in the example below, when I type in my - instead of showing 'My Name' it shows MyNamespace.Person. However, when I select the item from the autocomplete list, it displays the FullName property in the textbox. I'm sure I'm just missing a simple autocomplete box property somewhere but I can't see it. • QT: trouble with qobject_cast

  I have derived QGraphicsItem and QGraphicsScene classes. I want the items to be able to call scene() and get a derviedGraphicsItem * instead of a QGraphicsItem *, so I reimplemented QGraphicsScene::itemAt to return a derived pointer. DerivedItem* DerivedScene::itemAt( const QPointF &position, const QTransform &dt ) const { return qobject_cast< DerivedItem * >( QGraphicsScene::itemAt(position, dt) ); } I get the following error (Qt 4.6, GCC 4.4.3 on Ubuntut 10.4) scene.cpp: In member function ‘DerivedItem* DerivedScene::itemAt(qreal, qreal, const QTransform&) const’: scene.cpp:28: error: no matching function for call to ‘qobject_cast(QGraphicsItem*)’ I then noticed QGraphicsItem doesn't inherit QObject, so I made my derived QGraphicsItem class have multiple inheritance from QObject and QGraphicsItem, and after adding the Q_OBJECT macro and rebuilding the project I get the same error. Am I going about this the wrong way? I know it's supposed to be bad design to try to cast a parent class as a child, but in this case it seems like what I want, since my derived item class has new functionality and its objects need a way to call that new functionality on items around themselves, and asking the items scene object with itemAt() seems like the best way - but I need itemAt() to return a pointer of the right type. I can get around this by having the derived items cast the QGraphicsItem * returned by QGraphicsScene::itemAt() using dynamic_cast, but I don't really understand why that works and not qobject_cast, or the benefits or disadvantages to using dynamic_cast vs. qobject_cast.

  I have trouble to add new item to my table view with core data. Here is the brief logic in my codes. I think that both the number of objects in my data source or context and the number of rows in my table view should be 1. However, I got an exception in the event of tabView:numberOfRowsInSection: Invalid update: invalid number of rows in section 0. The number of rows contained in an existing section after the update (0) must be equal to the number of rows contained in that section before the update (0), plus or minus the number of rows inserted or deleted from that section (1 inserted, 0 deleted). The exception was raised right after the delegate event: - (NSInteger) tableView:(UITableView *) tableView numberOfRawsInSection:(NSInteger) section { // fetchedResultsController is class member var NSFetchedResultsController id <NSFechedResultsSectionInfo> sectionInfo = [[fetchedResultsController sections] objectAtIndex: section]; NSInteger rows = [sectionInfo numberOfObjects]; return rows; } In debug mode, I found that the rows was still 0 and the event invoked after the the even of toggleEditing. It looks like that sectionInfo obtained from fetchedResultsController did not include the new entity object inserted. Not sure if I miss anything or steps? I am not sure how it works: to get the fetcedResultsController notified or reflect the change when a new entity is inserted into the current managed object context?

• Manually iterating over a selection of XML elements (C#, XDocument)

  What is the “best practice” way of manually iterating (i.e., one at a time with a “next” button) over a set of XElements in my XDocument? Say I select the set of elements I want thusly: var elems = from XElement el in m_xDoc.Descendants() where (el.Name.LocalName.ToString() == "q_a") select el; I can use an IEnumerator to iterate over them, i.e., IEnumerator m_iter; But when I get to the end and I want to wrap around to the beginning if I call Reset() on it, it throws a NotSupportedException. That’s because, as the Microsoft C# 2.0 Specification under chapter 22 "Iterators" says "Note that enumerator objects do not support the IEnumerator.Reset method. Invoking this method causes a System.NotSupportedException to be thrown ." So what IS the right way of doing this? And what if I also want to have bidirectional iteration, i.e., a “back” button, too? Someone on a Microsoft discussion forum said I shouldn’t be using IEnumerable directly anyway. He said there was a way to do what I want with LINQ but I didn’t understand what. Someone else suggested dumping the XElements into a List with ToList(), which I think would work, but I wasn’t sure it was “best practice”. Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

Can I name or create a reference to my gridview either from c# or XAML so I can use the above code? Secondly, can I then access the array elements by name instead of index, something like :- TextBox2.Text = row.Cells["ID"].Text Thanks for any help.

  I am using NHibernate, and am trying to figure out how to write a query, that searchs all the names of my entities, and lists the results.   I'm running CR XI, and accessing .RPT files through a ReportViewer in my ASP.NET pages. I say this because I have training and production environments. When the .RPT file is hardcoded with my production server, and I open it on my training server with the code above (and the web.config has the training server in the connection string), I get the ol: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. And then if I go into the .RPT file, and change over the datasource to the training server, and try to open it again, it works fine. Why doesn't the code above overwrite the .RPT files datasource? How can I avoid having to open up each .RPT and change the datasource when migrating reports from server to server? Is there a setting in the .RPT file I'm missing or something?

• WPF Databound RadioButton ListBox

  I am having problems getting a databound radiobutton listbox in WPF to respond to user input and reflect changes to the data it's bound to (i.e., to making changes in the code). The user input side works fine (i.e., I can select a radiobutton and the list behaves as expected). But every attempt to change the selection in code fails. Silently (i.e., no exception).   Given the code below, how do I compare a List of objects's values with a test value? I'm building a geolocation application. I'll be passing in longitude and latitude and would like to have the service answer back with the location closest to those values. I started down the path of converting to a string, and formatting the values down to two decimal places, but that seemed a bit too ghetto, and I'm looking for a more elegant solution. Any help would be great.   I'm using DataAnnotations attributes to validate my model objects. My model class looks similar to this: public class MyModel { [Required] public string Title { get; set; } [Required] public List<User> Editors { get; set; } } public class User { public int Id { get; set; } [Required] public string FullName { get; set; } [Required] [DataType(DataType.Email)] public string Email { get; set; } } My controller action looks like: public ActionResult NewItem(MyModel data) { //... } User is presented with a view that has a form with: a text box with dummy name where users enter user's names. For each user they enter, there's a client script coupled with ajax that creates an <input type="hidden" name="data.Editors[0].Id" value="userId" /> for each user entered (enumeration index is therefore not always 0 as written here), so default model binder is able to consume and bind the form without any problems. a text box where users enter the title Since I'm using Asp.net MVC 2 RTM which does model validation instead of input validation I don't know how to avoid validation errors. The thing is I have to use BindAttribute on my controller action. I would have to either provide a white or a black list of properties. It's always a better practice to provide a white list. It's also more future proof. The problem My form works fine, but I get validation errors about user's FullName and Email properties since they are not provided. I also shouldn't feed them to the client (via ajax when user enters user data), because email is personal contact data and is not shared between users. If there was just a single user reference on MyModel I would write [Bind(Include = "Title, Editor.Id")] But I have an enumeration of them. How do I provide Bind white list to work with my model?

• Problem with cascade delete using Entity Framework and System.Data.SQLite

  I have a SQLite DB that is set up so when I delete a Person the delete is cascaded. This works fine when I manually delete a Person (all records that reference the PersonID are deleted). But when I use Entity Framework to delete the Person I get an error: System.InvalidOperationException: The operation failed: The relationship could not be changed because one or more of the foreign-key properties is non-nullable. When a change is made to a relationship, the related foreign-key property is set to a null value. If the foreign-key does not support null values, a new relationship must be defined, the foreign-key property must be assigned another non-null value, or the unrelated object must be deleted. I don't understand why this is occurring. My trigger is set to clean up all related objects before deleting the object it was told to delete. When I go into the model editor and check the properties of the relationship it shows no action for the OnDelete property. Why isn't this set correctly by pulling it from the DB? If I change this value to Cascade everything works properly, but I would rather not rely on this manual change because what if I refresh my model from the DB and it looses that. Here's the relivent SQL for my tables. • Is there any way to get an ExtJS GridPanel to automatically resize its width, but still be contained

  I want to include an ExtJS GridPanel inside a larger layout, which in turn must be rendered inside a particular div in some pre-existing HTML that I don't control. From my experiments, it appears that the GridPanel only resizes itself correctly if it's within a Viewport. For instance, with this code the GridPanel automatically resizes: new Ext.Viewport( { layout: 'anchor', items: [ { xtype: 'panel', title: 'foo', layout: 'fit', items: [ { xtype: 'grid', // define the grid here... but if I replace the first three lines with the lines below, it doesn't: new Ext.Panel( { layout: 'anchor', renderTo: 'RenderUntoThisDiv', The trouble is, Viewport always renders directly to the body of the HTML document, and I need to render within a particular div. If there is a way to get the GridPanel to resize itself correctly, despite not being contained in a ViewPort, that would be ideal. If not, if I could get the Viewport to render the elements within the div, I'd be fine with that. All of my ExtJS objects can be contained within the same div. Does anybody know of a way to get a GridPanel to resize itself correctly, but still be contained inside some non-ExtJS-generated HTML?

• Access variables between nested JSP tags

  I would like to exchange information between two nested JSP tagx artifacts. To give an example: list.jspx <myNs:table data="${myTableData}"> <myNs:column property="firstName" label="First Name"/> <myNs:column property="lastName" label="Last Name"/> </myNs:table> Now, the table.tagx is supposed to display the data columns as defined in the nested column tags. The question is how do I get access to the values of the property and label attributes of the nested column tags from the table tag. I tried jsp:directive.variable but that seems only to work to exchange information between a jsp and a tag, but not between nested tags. Note, I would like to avoid using java backing objects for both the table and the column tags at all. I would also like to know how I can access an attribute defined by a parent tag (in this example I would like to access the contents of the data attribute in table.tagx from column.tagx). So it boils down to how can I access variables between nested JSP tags which are purely implemented through the tag definitions themselves (no Java TagHandler implementation desired)?

• Ext.data.Store, Javascript Arrays and Ext.grid.ColumnModel

  I am using Ext.data.Store to call a PHP script which returns a JSON response with some metadata about fields that will be used in a query (unique name, table, field, and user-friendly title). I then loop through each of the Ext.data.Record objects, placing the data I need into an array (this_column), push that array onto the end of another array (columns), and eventually pass this to an Ext.grid.ColumnModel object. The problem I am having is - no matter which query I am testing against (I have a number of them, varying in size and complexity), the columns array always works as expected up to columns[15]. At columns[16], all indexes from that point and previous are filled with the value of columns[15]. This behavior continues until the loop reaches the end of the Ext.data.Store object, when the entire arrays consists of the same value. • iPhone app linker error on Snow Leopard (Only on simulator)

  I have an application that downloads/parses a big XML file and store the information using core data (approx. 4000 objects (entities)). The XML is loaded/parsed in a different thread, which has its own NSManagedObjectContext. I have a simple integer to keep track of the entities the application creates compared to the insertedObjects property in the NSManagedObjectContext before saving, and when I get the error, these numbers do not match, insertedObjects in the NSManagedObjectContext is missing about 10 entities. I do not know how I should continue to investigate this problem, anyone has any idea how to fix this? Thanks /oscar
