  • Is there a comprehensive list of mupdf keyboard shortcuts?

    - by Dune
I like mupdf's speed, but I am exasperated by the lack of documentation and its (unnecessarily) hyper-minimal interface with not a menu bar or context menu in sight. Does there exist a list of keyboard shortcuts for this application? The link to the manual on the official site is dead. I only know of the following shortcuts: fit to width: Shift + w fit to height: Shift + h Please respond with the shortcuts you know.

  • What is a good one-stop-shop for understanding software licensing information?

    - by Macy Abbey
I've learned a fair amount about the various different software licensing models and what those models mean for my own software project. However, I'd like to make sure I understand as many of them as possible for making decisions on how to license my own software and in what scenarios I can safely use software under a licensing model. Do you have a good recommendation for a book/site etc.. that has this information in one location?

  • Is there any evidence that lisp actually is better than other languages at artificial intelligence?

    - by Joe D
I asked this question on SO but it was closed fairly promptly (within 3 minutes) because it was too subjective. I then thought to ask it here on Programmers, a site for "subjective questions on software development". Quoting from the original question: There seems to be a long-held belief (mainly by non-lispers) that lisp is only good for developing AI. Where did this belief originate? And is there any basis in fact to it?

  • Are shorter URLS better for SEO?

    - by articlestack
Many people shorten their URLs. But as per my understanding it creates overhead of extra redirection, other can not guess about the target article with their url, and it should be less friendly for "inurl:..." type search. Should I shorten the URLs of my sites? Is there any advantage with short URLs besides the fact that they take fewer characters in anchor tags on the page (good for site loading)?

  • OpenSearchDescriptions good or bad signal in Google's eyes?

    - by JeremyB
I noticed a site using this tag: <link rel="search" type="application/opensearchdescription+xml" title="XXXXXXXXX" href="http://www.XXXXXXXXXX.com/api/opensearch" /> As I understand it (based on http://www.opensearch.org/Home), this tag is a way of describing search results (so you use it on pages which contain search results) to make it easier for other search engines to understand and use your results. Given that Matt Cutts has said Google generally frowns on "search results within search results" is using this tag a bad idea on a page that you hope to achieve a good ranking in Google?

  • Certification Notes: 70-583 Designing and Developing Windows Azure Applications

    - by BuckWoody
Last Updated: 02/01/2011 It’s time for another certification, and we’ve just release the 70-583 exam on Windows Azure. I’ve blogged my “study plans” here before on other certifications, so I thought I would do the same for this one. I’ll also need to take exam 70-513 and 70-516; but I’ll post my notes on those separately. None of these are “brain dumps” or any questions from the actual tests - just the books, links and notes I have from my studies. I’ll update these references as I’m studying, so bookmark this site and watch my Twitter and Facebook posts for when I’ll update them, or just subscribe to the RSS feed. A “Green” color on the check-block means I’ve done that part so far, red means I haven’t. First, I need to refresh my memory on some basic coding, so along with the Azure-specific information I’m reading the following general programming books: Introducing Microsoft .NET (Pro-Developer): link   Head First C#, 2E: A Learner's Guide to Real-World Programming with Visual C# and .NET: link Microsoft Visual C# 2008 Step by Step: link  c The first place to start is at the official site for the certification. link c On that page you’ll find several resources, and the first you should follow is the “Save to my learning” so you have a place to track everything. Then click the “Related Learning Plans” link and follow the videos and read the documentation in each of those bullets. There are six areas on the learning plan that you should focus on - make sure you open the learning plan to drill into the specifics. c Designing Data Storage Architecture (18%) Books I’m Reading: Links: My Notes: c Optimizing Data Access and Messaging (17%) Books I’m Reading: Links: My Notes: c Designing the Application Architecture (19%) Books I’m Reading: Applied Architecture Patterns on the Microsoft Platform: link Links: My Notes: c Preparing for Application and Service Deployment (15%) Books I’m Reading: Links: My Notes: c Investigating and Analyzing Applications (16%) Books I’m Reading: Links: My Notes: c Designing Integrated Solutions (15%) Books I’m Reading: Applied Architecture Patterns on the Microsoft Platform (2nd mention) Links: My Notes:

  • Turning my website into a non-profit

    - by GoodbyeWebsite
I was given an established website about a year ago. It makes some money on ads, but not much (less than 10k/year). I am no longer able to manage the site and am considering turning it over to another person. I don't want them to turn around and sell it. It was suggested that I establish a non-profit of sorts and transfer the assets to that entity. Does anybody have experience or advice on this subject?

    - by Gajet
I know many people in this site may not know esenthel engine at all and my question may be better answered at engine forum but I'm putting it here to share the name of a real easy to code gameengine with all of you: you can easily add a Button for example to your GUI class (gui is it's shared instance) with Gui += buttonInstance.create("click on me") but I'm just wondering how can you remove an on object from from Gui members. as far as I know there is no such a method as removeChild or getChildren or anything similar.
