    When using VLC in my Windows 7 (RC), the audio works only if my head phones are connected. Without the head phones, the audio is not heard at all. Other players deliver the audio perfectly. Is this caused by some incorrect preferences ?

  • What setting can cause a monitor to flicker under X11?

    I've been dinking with the xorg.conf file on my system and now when I try to start X I get a flickering effect and no usable image. I think (and this is just a guess) that it's a settings out of bound error of some kind but I don't know what setting. I'm almost completely sure that the hardware is good given that everything is brand new.and works just fine in text mode. Any ideas?

    Why won't my logon scripts map drives under Windows 7? I'm using a vb script similar to the one below, the script runs using a group policy. Dim WshNetwork Set WshNetwork = WScript.CreateObject("WScript.Network") WshNetwork.MapNetworkDrive "g:", "\\\Saturn\data\" WshNetwork.MapNetworkDrive "k:", "\\\Saturn\stuff\" Works fine for Windows XP. Update: Copying the script locally and running it runs fine so I suspect the Group Policy isn't running the script on Windows 7. Many thanks Steve

    I am writing a script that uses MS KB 823732 to temporarily prevent users from plugging in new USB storage devices. This works fine, and the HKLM\...\Services\UsbStor registry key successfully blocks newly-connected devices from being accessed. Is there a WMI event that will tell me that a drive was connected, regardless of whether it was mounted? I tried querying for __InstanceCreationEvent but that is apparently raised only after the drive is mounted and made available, which doesn't fit my requirements.

    I'm having trouble with the Gmail yellow notification area disappearing too quickly in Google Chrome. For reference, I am talking about the notification that appears at the top of Gmail after archiving or deleting a message from a web browser. I tried it on IE9 and it works fine. I have also cleared the cache and cookies on Chrome and the issue persists. Has anybody run into this on Chrome and know of a solution?

  • MySQL keeps adding additional user without rights from specific IP

    I'm running MySQL Server 5.5.29 on Ubuntu Server 13.04 I have a created a user with a wildcard host access % and given him various privileges. However, whenever this user connects from 194.182.245.61, a new user account is created for that specific IP address with no rights and he is unable to exercise his privileges. When he connects from other internet connections, such as his home IP, it works just as it should. Why does this happen and how can I stop it from happening?

  • Linux Twinview : copy window application to both screens

    I use the SUN Presenter Openoffice Extension with a twinview Ubuntu laptop. it works well : I have the video-projector with my presentation and my laptop screen with the slides (and time...). My problem is when I want to present a mono-screen application, like Firefox, gnome-terminal. It is displayed only on one monitor, which is not really efficient if you want to be interactive. Is there a way to display these types of application on both display and to interact with both ? Thanks

  • Debug JS from browser without a server/localhost

    So something I do very frequently is writing random scripts in JS without really being part of an app. To run them I just paste them in the console of either Chrome of FF which works as a nice REPL, or if I really need more fancy debugging I just add it to my test app on localhost and browse it from the browser. Is there a way to get all the good debugging of a browser (breakpoints, locals, etc), without it being served from a server?, e.g by just copy-pasting my code into console or something?

    I'm having strange problem with my putty console. I'm establishing connection over ssh to my home computer [ windows 7 + freesshd server ]. Everything works just fine, but I'm getting this tiny screen with output, I can resize it of course, but the content is still in small box [ content doesn't resize ] I've tried to change the number of columns and rows in properties, but it didn't change anything.     I have installed Windows 2008 R2 SP1 in a VirtualBox VM. It works fine, except that if I Remote Desktop (RDP) to the VM from the host (machine running VirtualBox, Windows 7 SP1), after a minute or so the windows shell becomes unresponsive. I can no longer start task manager, open the start menu or switch applications. Keyboard input also drops some keys. Mouse movement is not affected. Any idea what is causing this? NB: This is Windows RDP, not the remote display built into VirtualBox

    Hi I have a MySQL server that I need access through a VPN. I use MySQLdb package to access MySQL server in Python. When I can access the server without VPN, it works fine, but when I'm at certain locations, I need to connect through VPN. My computer is connected to the VPN and I can access the database through PHPMyAdmin, but MySQLdb gives me an error message: OperationalError: (2003, "Can't connect to MySQL server on 'MY_IP' (10061)") Any ideas on why it's not working?     I've been searching for awhile now and haven't found anything that comes close to what I'm trying to accomplish. Right now my URL's look like this: www.website.com/something which are using the root folder /index.php Now I have created plugins within folders: /plugins/PLUGINNAME/index.php I want to be able to have URLs like: www.website.com/plugins/PLUGINNAME/anything/iwant/here which are all using /plugins/PLUGINNAME/index.php and not the root directory index.php. Currently www.website.com/plugins/PLUGINNAME/ works, but anything after /PLUGINNAME/xxx defaults to the /index.php.

  • How do I remove the ServerSignature added by mod_fcgid?

    I'm running Mod_Security and I'm using the SecServerSignature to customize the Server header that Apache returns. This part works fine, however I'm also running mod_fcgid which appends "mod_fcgid/2.3.5" to the header. Is there any way I can turn this off? Setting ServerSignature off doesn't do anything. I was able to get it to go away by changing the ServerTokens but that removed the customization I had added.

However I would like to substitute a specific font - say Arial - with another of my choice every time it is found instead of setting a global font (which I don't like as I just want to substitute Arial) or using a stylish rule for every page.
